Yeah, what is that this is so disgusting. Welcome to the very first edition of Brie talks now, I'm kind of not feeling that name and I'm not exactly sure. If I'm going to keep that name, and I can't really think of a better title for my topic segment, so I would like to ask for the help of my audience. You are cuz. I love you guys so much. You guys have awesome ideas. I always ask for you all to put in the comments box below what you would like for me to title. My topic segments topic editions. You guys know what I'm trying to say so yeah. If you like, brie talks, you know thumbs up for brie talks, but it's kind of lame. It'S kind of generic so help me come up with something better title. My topic segments go ahead and leave that in the comments box below and my favorite one I will pick and I will give you a shout-out on my YouTube and on Instagram and on Facebook and all that good stuff. The topic for today is is natural, hair, a trend and or fad. Let me first start off by saying that I do not think that natural hair in itself is a fad, and/or trend, because something that naturally grows from your body or something that has been around since brown people have been around in existence, cannot be a trend or Fad you know kind of the point of a trend is that it comes and goes. You will never say that straight hair is a trend. If natural hair can be a trend, then straight hair, curly, hair, wavy hair. That can be a trend too, and it can't so natural hair. No, it can't be a trend, but can going natural be a trend. This is where I have to agree with some people. I agree that, for some people going natural is a trend for those people who just want the style or they just look at someone and they think. Oh wow, you know that's cool yeah. I'M saying I think that that's I like the way she looks. I like the way that I like that hairstyle I want that hairstyle, so I'm gon na go natural so that I can have that hairstyle. I think for that person it is a bit of a trend now. I don't think that it is a trend for everyone by no means because it definitely was not a trend for me, because when I went natural I didn't know anyone who was going natural in person. I didn't know anyone who was going natural with me. I, the people I had to turn to were people on YouTube, Kimmy, um Lexi with curls. I don't even know like you know. This was four years ago when I decided to go natural, so it definitely was no damn train to me, but seeing the boom, and so many more girls going natural, and I feel like I feel, like the I feel, like the stances, I feel like the standards Of beauty are starting to change almost because I feel like those people who go natural because they are finding themselves and the people who go natural because they're, like you know, I am beautiful for how I look. You know your European standards of beauty. You know I am beautiful exactly the way that I am. I don't care if my hair is nevi, although I don't like that time, but you know I don't care. If my hair is nappy Mike and my hair's kinky is curly, it stand up is tall its afro. You know like for the ones who are doing this to kind of stick it to society who has been conditioning us and everyone else that our hair is somehow less appealing. You know unmanageable it's ugly, it's tough! It'S rough! You know all of the holes negative terms that Natura has been associated with, I feel like they exude those women confidence. You know it's like. I love myself for me and I feel like that is very attractive. They'Re not trying to slap a chemical on their head to try to beat their hair into submission they're, not trying to cover up their beautiful hair with someone else's hair from freaking hundreds of thousands of miles away. You know I feel, like two men that's attractive, because it's confidence and confidence is attractive to anybody. You know, I guess I won't just say men, because you know not just men or attractive to women. So excuse me, for that. I didn't mean to offend anybody. I'D like to say about 80 % of the people that I saw going natural before the last half I'll say about 2013, so like before 2013 and to 2010, because that's 2009 in the 2009. When I really started noticing you know, people would not your hair or people going natural blah blah blah. Whatever I say about 80 %, 85 % of those people that I saw going natural, we're not going natural for any type of style. They were going natural because they wanted to have their natural hair. They didn't, you know, feel as if they could only be beautiful with a relaxer. They wanted to prove society wrong and say that I can be beautiful, you know, being the natural meat, so I feel like for those women going natural definitely was not a trend, it was definitely it was definitely not about any specific hair type. I mean a hair style, I'm finding more and more women going natural for the style. Now you know within this last year, or so I've talked to a lot more people who really just want to go natural because I think it's cool or they think it looks cool. They look at me and they're, like you know, damn here, don't you know, I'm saying I'm gon na wear this hairstyle. I want my hair to stand up. I wanted to wear a twist out. I want big hair, you know I'm saying like they are just doing it. The ones that I found, I'm saying everybody went natural within the last year feels like this. These are just the women that I have been speaking with, or the or the men that I have been speaking with, or people that I've talked to on YouTube. I feel, like I'm meeting a lot more people who are just kind of going natural for the style and I think for those people. It is about the trend. Just because you know you were going natural just because you want the type of style or you want to wear your hair, a certain type of way or just because you think it's cool and you see other people doing anything. You want to try it out. For yourself, I don't think that's a bad thing. You know, I don't think it's a bad thing at all. I don't think that that means that you won't stay natural. I don't, and even if you don't stay natural, I mean that doesn't matter either you know, but we have to be honest here, or at least I'm gon na be honest with myself, I'm gon na be honest with what I'm seeing and for some people going. Natural is a trend not for all by no means but yeah for some, and I will go as far as to say for an increasing amount of people. I see that it is more about the trend, because you know, as knowledge becomes more readily available and easier to obtain. You know you could just go on YouTube and find so many tutorials on how to style, natural hair and there's so many different styles that you kind of can't do with relaxed hair. And I have to say that if I was a person who was still relaxed - and I see all of these cool hairstyles with natural hair, I might be tempted to go natural just because I want to style my hair differently. I mean it's just the fact that I matter now I mean these people might originally go natural just before a trend or whatever, and then find out that you know it's much deeper than you know, appearances, it's more about. You know how I'm feeling and how I feel about myself and my self-confidence and realizing how we've been conditioned to accept beauty in certain forms. You know like that might happen, and I might take place afterwards and it might never take place either, or I mean it's just kind of how it is going. Natural is different for different people. Everybody doesn't go natural for some socio-economic reason or because they want healthy hair, because I want long hair, some people who honestly just do it because they wouldn't be able to wear, broke and ain't none wrong with that. I don't think that the naturals like me who have went natural because they wanted to be a role model for others and wanted to prove to society, prove to themselves prove to their family and all of those around them. That I can be beautiful. With my natural hair, I don't need any additives, I don't need extensions, I don't need a relaxer. I don't need this. I don't need that. I don't need a flat iron. I am beautiful with my natural hair neck role in exactly what grows out of my head. Uh, you know, I don't think that the Naturals who feel like me should look down on people for going natural because they think it's the thing to do right now. I don't you can't get mad at somebody for that. You know like no. They may not feel the same way about you, but I mean look. This world is filled with billions of people. Everybody'S not gon na, feel the same that you feel about any one given thing. So, who are you to judge somebody just because they don't look at it as something much deeper than you do now? I understand why some people may become offended when somebody said oh going. Natural is just a trend because it is quite offensive to the people who it's not a trend to you know, but to the people where it is a trend too. It'S like whatever. So you know, I'm saying, and so it's like, I really feel like. We should not put everybody in a category because everybody is different, like I've already stated before. That is something that I am a firm believer on. We should not be looking down on those Naturals who go natural just because they want to rock a big ass plot for me. So what um? I do think that, for some people going natural is a trend, and then I think for a lot of other people that have no, it's definitely not a trend, but natural hair in itself is not a tree. It'S not because my hair can't be a trend. That'S like saying my skin color is a trend like that. Doesn'T make any sense, something that naturally grows out of my head cannot be a trend, but the act of going natural for some people is definitely a trend and, in my opinion - and I think I'm going to end this video right there. So as always, thank you. So much for watching love's. I really appreciate you tuning into my channel here at three talks that just don't even sound right. Please please, you guys helped me come up with a better name, because three talk sounds so week. Leave me your opinion. Do you think that the act of going natural is a trained or not? Yes? No, maybe so, leave me a comment in the comment box below leave me some ideas for future topics. So, as always I'll see you guys in the next video

Sava: Exactly! How can we "going" something we naturally are? There's no such thing as "going natural". More like returning natural.

Diamond Green: Reading some of the comments, I'm starting to believe that its less of a trend and more of a discovery.

kikicouture10: I personally hate when people ask me did I go natural for the "trend" wtf I myself along with thousands of black/ethnic women were relaxed since 6 years old so I never knew what my hair was suppose to be like, I remember my mom fingers cramping up from doing my thick coily hair and comb after comb popping/breaking and I had long hair as my mom did take good care of it so when I learned about the natural hair community on youtube it intrigued me, I was surprised, confused, happy, encouraged to go natural because I felt like my natural hair was never given a chance so as an adult I decided to make that decision for myself to go natural because I didn't see anything wrong with natural hair and why so many of us were conditioned to believe otherwise. It's not easy being natural with the kind of hair I have but I'm happy and proud that I went back to my natural hair, I ♥ it

BEE HARTMAN and Malachi's life: I was natural almost all my teenage years but of course that was the time when African Americans my age looked at natural hair as something that wasn't cute and I got made fun (Bullied) of for it. I decided to relax my hair, now at almost 25 I regret it because my hair never really grew and seemed to almost be damaged ALL THE TIME! Now I am a wife and mother and I just randomly one day said screw this I am done with relaxers and the fact that I don't even remember what my natural hair looked like is scary and unnatural to me. I looked up you tube videos of natural hair styles and I was amazed as to why we even allowed society to make us think straight hair is better than our crown. Our Hair is SO amazing and I don't think anyone else has the kind of hair we do. The fact that we are brainwashed into thinking our hair is ugly and needs to be tamed by addicting chemicals should tell us they are intimidated  and want us think we are weaker and less beautiful than we are. For those reasons and then some I recently decided to go natural.

RaenaJenks: In my opinion I think the "natural boom" happened along with the boom of beauty gurus who are natural. Youtube especially has boomed in women who decided to start a channel based on hair care and many of them are natural hair gurus. The knowledge increase has definitely helped ppl who were once scared to go natural before, including myself. I'm just happy that I did it for me and not a "trend" because I dont even want to revisit being relaxed.

Bad Loulou: I like your honesty and the fact that you were clear about not judging and/or categorizing each other. Yes going natural is very trendy right now, but I kinda DGAF. I'm just glad that the beauty industry and the world are actually gaining knowledge about our hair (natural, texlaxed, relaxed, texturized, heat trained, you name it!) and how to cater to it. I think it should be more about the fact that black women beauty is celebrated in all its form. And for us to realize we are as good and capable as the rest. Yes going natural hair might be a trend but the knowledge that is being spread around will not fade away.

Summer Tyme: yea I understand. For some ppl I guess it may be a trend and some they are very committed to it. I will proudly say that I am committed to being natural and I plan on being this way for the rest of my life....I wish I would've started it sooner.

Tyler B Humphries: I feel to an certain extent, going natural is a trend and ten years from now we will really see just how many people actually stayed with it. This wasn't a trend for me but I did originally go natural for one of the reasons she stated. It was the summer before I started college and me and my mom were trying to figure out what I was going to do with my hair while I was at school. I was on Tumblr and I kept seeing all of these beautiful Black women with long pretty hair and I was so focused on how they got their hair to grow like that because I've always wanted long hair and my hair grew like 2-3 inches in 2 months (I wore a lot of braids so I was able to see the new growth) but I wasn't seeing the length once we relaxed my hair. So I started my natural hair journey my Freshman year of college and haven't looked back. But I can honestly say that once I went natural it became so much more than growing long hair. I begin to learn about my ancestry, Black affairs in America, and the reasoning behind us straightening our hair to begin with. I learned more about colorism in the Black community and why Black people will pick on other Black students because they're wearing their hair the way it grows out of their heads. I even became more aware of how Black hair is treated in institutions such as schools, jobs, and even churches. So even though my reason for going natural was superficial, my reason for STAYING natural goes way beyond that. I will never chemically straighten my hair ever again. And the only time I can see, in the near future, that I would flat iron my hair is the day I graduate college so that I can compare my high school graduation photo to my college graduation photo.

Sanaa Cruz: I went back natural because I HATEDDDD getting relaxers I just thought it was inconceivable to rock natural hair if you didn't have curly manageable hair :( my mother complained about my tough hair throwing water back at her that I just never thought I could be without a relaxer... But three years two chops later I will NEVER buy a relaxer ever again ever never ever

Raven Greene: I honestly became natural because I was tired of getting burnt in my scalp almost every time I went to the hair dresser. I was also tired of the breaking as well. I'm glad you came up with this video it shows me that I can appreciate my hair regardless of what other think.

Aksum አክሱም ፣ ንግሥት: I have been natural since i was born! But, then again i'm Ethiopian and in Ethiopia we don't wear products like perms and such that ruin our hair, and everyone over there is natural, so it's not a trend for me.

Shi Hearts: When I first started considering going natural, I was doing it for style of it. I had gotten to a point in my life where I was starting to love big , fluffy hair. I would try to intimidate it with plaiting and scrunching my hair or from using a crinkling iron. I loved how it looked on me. The more I looked into going natural, the more I wanted it to become a LIFEstyle for me. ( I'm getting all giddy just thinking about how I felt from looking up all the pic of natural women and natural hair forums, products, etc lol ) . Plus I've always hated the before, during and after process of getting a relaxer. I also love how it makes me stand out and the low maintenance of it. Sometimes it can seem high maintenance, but that's only if I try to beat it into submission.

Fhvze: For me, going natural happened because I was fustrated of my permed hair breaking. Plus I have never seen my natural curls. My mom kept my hair in braids, and then jerri curls and then finally a perm. So no, going natural was not a trend choice, for me it was a choice of wanting healthier and longer hair. So far its going good, Im 14 and hope to be natural for a long time.

Chay Andrea: I love this topic because it kind of hits close to home! I was natural for the first 17 years of my life and no one was natural with me it seemed like lol everyone was relaxing if not because their parents made them, then because of the trend. I relaxed simply for the trend, because everyone else was and I felt the need to be. That's one of the reasons I'm transitioning back to my natural texture now because hopping onto a bandwagon isn't a good enough reason to alter yourself! I'm happy that I'm making this decision for me and no one else :)

Darlo Dolly: The process that you have to go throughout from natural to relaxer makes me feel as though it isn't a trend. Trends are usually easier than the whole process of going natural. I also feel that when a person goes natural it changes their mindset ...

mizzpoetrics: I got tired of the perms, wigs & weave & the damage to my hair. Besides that, in addition to a few things such as learning more of our history & becoming conscious of why we are the way we are today & factors that affected our ancestors that are still affecting us today, I became even more proud of my ancestors. & there's a lot to be proud of if we're willing to find out, cuz it certainly isn't being taught to us, or in its full capacity when we need it the most, as children! Another factor for me was the texture of the new growth in between perms. I fell in love w/it & just wanted to see my whole head like that! 1 yr + so far. I plan to to get a chop once I have more length, as I've never liked how my face looked w/short hair, lol!

Queen of Me: I went "natural" 1st time back in 2001. I just took out some braids I had in for a while and had alot of new growth. I couldn't get over how curly and silky my root were and just started cutting. I have no clue how I figured out how to coil my hair back then but I eventually did. Everybody commented on my hair being "different but cute" and I got the side eye from alot of black people and had even more white people asking to touch my hair.I've relaxed and chopped my hair off 3times since then. I get bored with my natural hair then get bored with relaxed hair. Im just happy that now I'm not the only "natural" anymore but now people just constantly ask what I use on my hair to the point were Im thinking of relaxing it again. If anything I'm anti-trend.

shayskins: When I decided to go natural I didn't think of it as "going natural" I just wanted healthy hair like when I was a child. I originally intended on just not getting perms but keeping my hair pressed. But I started watching vids of naturals on YouTube and realized the effects of heat damage so I decided to chop of my relaxer and don't use heat or if I do, only in moderation. And taa daa I stand here today natural. I do agree for some its more of a fad but I think it's a good fad.

K_H: I returned to my natural hair (I had my first relaxer when I was like 2 years old!) because of the health benefits. The relaxer was killing my strands and my hair was not getting it's full chance to thrive. Having natural hair also made me revamp my body lifestyle, like exercising and eating better foods. It was never a trend or even a social identity thing for me. It's all about health.

Gabriel Generally: I am a black male and i didnt want to keep my hair short or get dreads so i had an afro for years. I then decided i wanted hair like corbin bleu and started searching tutorials but i later realized how many people hated my hair and my hair now stands as a symbol of self love

Beenlaced: I personally went natural for myself. I was relaxed from a very young age and never really knew what my hair could do, but the older I got I started to love myself more and I became more comfortable in my skin especially as a black woman. I think there is a lot of women who go natural to be trendy, but as someone who when natural not long ago (1.5 year) that makes it a little harder on you. I had a lot of people who said I wouldn't last because it was just a phase. It was a personal choice that I made not only for myself, but my nieces. My 9yr old niece told me I was her role model and my 2yr old niece follows my every move and I don't want them to feel for any reason like they need to think less of themselves.

anothernatural4c channel: Hey AnaBri! I did a vid on this because I wonder the same thing. One point I would like to add I have been natural 6 yrs and I did not know anyone who was going natural. My hair was so damaged! I went natural to save my hair, literally! I had bald spots! So, it was and is a necessity! I do not feel I can go back, or at least without fear of my hair falling out!

MyNaturalMyChoice: Absolutely no trend for me!  I decided to returned back to my birth hair... natural!  plain and simple...  The trend was purchasing the next box of perm.  No more!   bal 3 years natural and growing!  Great topic!

Elle Munster: I was in and out of "going natural", I inadvertently chopped all my hair off in 2010. As a child I never liked my hair straight especially the process it took to get it straight. I never felt straight hair was for me its boring and I always loved curls. I was told to get those you have to go natural and at the time I didn't have the means to do it so I transitioned and last year I cut off the last of my relaxed ends in the beginning Yea it was pure vanity, finding myself and having confidence came later I just wish sometimes I started earlier Lol I see no issue with women wanting it for a style cause for me the more people start to do it the note knowledge about natural hair gets out there so I see it as a good thing even if they go back to relaxers they put it out there and made a statement

Naturally:)Shani: I went natural the end of the past school year and ever since then I feel like everywhere I go in nyc every Black teen is natural. I feel like for teenagers at least , as girls see more girls with natural hair and and they see that society is accepting it, it makes them feel comfortable to do it as well. Teens also always like to look like like the next person they see because that is just what we do. We want the cool clothes, hair styles and anything that will make us stand out. In my school my friend went back to natural and so did and as soon as the school year started again and everyone started noticing that all the girls in nyc were natural , the girls in my school began to transition. I don't think it's a trend where natural hair is in today and the next day people will just relax their hair again. I think some people are just not going to stay with their natural texture for many reasons while others will stay with their texture because it means more to them then some 2013-2014 trend.

11 22: I agree with every single statement that uttered your mouth lol. I am 1.5 years natural and I certainly didn't do it for a trend. I was actually looked down on because I went natural. I'm only 14 years old and my friends, family members and all my fellow peers were actually MAD at me because I went natural. My relaxed hair was "long" (bra strap length) and since I "ruined my hair", ppl were mad at me because I chose to do as I please with my hair that grows out of my head. And even when I big chopped (which was scary asf) I still got negative comments. Til this day I get the occasional negative comment, but now I'm getting flooded with compliments. But for some recent naturals it is a trend but for me that's not the case. It's just cuz I wanted to crush society's standard of beauty, and show natural hair is big, bold and beautiful. And black girl hair is versatile, beautiful and unique. And CAN grow. Sorry for rambling lol. But I do agree with you :)

DimplesDeep1: "Anatrunique" Bri..... Ana: that's you! Natural: as you are! Truthful: what you speak! Unique: the way you were born! Good luck with your search and thx for the video :0)

Mama'sLaundrymat FitnessRants: I went natural 5 years ago and permed my hair 2 years ago (called my self making it more manageable during pregnancy) and HATED it. Had to do a big chop last year and start all over again. I will NEVER be perming again or straightening Mostly b/c I hate the way it looks against my face. Big hair just looks better on ME. I don't get any more confidence with hair b/c hair is hair no matter how it looks I still will and can only be ME. :) Even if women are doing it for the look the way I see it is it's GREAT that black women are feeling like what looks best is what is given to them. It changes your whole face shape and fits your features better than straight layed hair Just my opinion.

Desi Poo: I'm glad she posted this video. i was curious about my curls. I went natural because i wanted to rock it like that AND THAT'S PERFECTLY FINE. I went back relaxed because i like it like that too AND THAT'S PERFECTLY FINE TOO! LOL and no self hatred over here just a preference(but natural hair nazi's don't get that)!

sharaej23: I am newly natural, just had my nappiversary, lol. But I absolutely love my natural hair. For me it was about empowerment and the journey of becoming a beautiful black woman. Now that I am natural I can see myself getting a relaxer again. I just doesn't work with the woman that I have become.

Food Rules: “Talk with Me”, “Talk to Bri”, “Chat to Me”, “Chat wit Bri” or “Chats wit Bri”   I don’t think we go natural, we are natural but then we go out and get a relaxer or perm.  I think for some people it’s a trend but for others like myself it’s not.  I’ve always wanted to wear my hair natural but this was not the norm of society and natural hair was viewed and still is by some in a negative way.  It took me a while but I’ve decided to embrace my natural hair.

TitaniaIsFalling: My last perm was in 2011, so I've actually been natural for about three years. I "went natural" without even knowing what that meant. I didn't even know what natural hair was! It was really because I had gotten laid off, and I just couldn't afford perms and having a permanent stylist like I'd gotten used to. So no, definitely not a trend for me. When I finally figured out what was actually happening to my hair, I decided to just go with it. I cut my hair three times due to breakdown issues, but the last time I cut my hair back in August of 2012 was the moment I decided to start growing my hair out, so I say I've been natural for a year because that was the moment I really decided to "go natural." I started learning more about my hair and how to keep it healthy and retain length. 2011 was my last perm, but 2012 was the start of my journey. It was never a fad thing or trend for me, but more about learning about African American beauty as a whole and it really was a deep experience even though it's just hair. For those who do it for the fad, I think they'll find that it is more than hair, and it will be a very unique and uplifting, liberating journey, and I hope they stick with it, but some people really need to do their research before they just jump into it, or they're going to spend the first few years breaking their hair and completely destroying it like I did. I could have had shoulder length hair by now if I knew what I was doing, but I am grateful I got this point!

nelli754: I do think natural hair is a trend. Being a young black girl (15) it was so difficult transitioning and going natural. It's not something i can do by myself. I need my parents support to drive me to hairdresser and pay for appointments and products etc... So in my case it was quite difficult because i did not always have that support. After cutting off all my hair my mom put my hair in Senegalese twist for almost two years. And that sadden me because my whole point of going natural was so I can show off my huge, amazing afro and be proud of my ethnicity, something i was told not to do my entire life. For the longest i thought she hated my natural hair. But after talking to her i realize she believed that i was going through a phase and she was waiting for it to pass. I did not quite understand how being my natural self was a phase. She said she let it out of the twist as long as i take care of it myself and wear protective styles. And now I have two years worth of hair that I am not sure how to take care of because its so long and i haven't touched in two years... But i am learning to take care of it and I could not be happier .. I can only hope more girls decided to take the plunge and except their natural, beautiful, fierce self (:

Shanice Griffith: Contrary to what my avi suggests, I am newly natural. I just don't see why we need to have this conversation. Why does it matter. It's just hair! Everyone has hair of their own that he or she should be concerned about. Stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and WHY they do it. As long as their hair, wig, weave, or extensions are presentable and they like it... It. Doesn't. Matter!!!

Muffinloveer: I'm going natural right now bc I wasn't maintaining my relaxers to well and just decided to stop them all together and my hair wasn't in great shape so i wanted to kinda have a new start and try the natural route. It's been a year and a half so far with me transitioning and I have to say I'm really liking how its turning out!

prettyinme: It definitely wasn't a trend for me when I went natural but it's starting to become one.

Yasmin Brizan: when I was 16 (4 years ago) I decided to go natural. I was into youtube at the time and was noticing all of the natural hair girls on here, as well as I was sick of perming my hair. But i would continue to wear weaves and flat iron my hair( yeah, i know, its bad) . Fast forward to college, everyone is natural, an even smaller number of girls have weave, and if they do, they are natural as well. I was always afraid to do the big chop, so i never did. What 16 year old wants to chop off their hair, when they go to an all girls school where everyone wears weaves. All these girls at my college were cutting their hair off and then a year later, their hair was so much longer than mine. Its has taken me a while to be confident to rock my curly hair. It is a process and I had to get to this mind set on my own.

OTR/L 18: Glad someone addressed this! I have been saying this for a while.

autumn mccullough: My relaxed hair was imposed on me, my Nana wanted my hair to look more white. up until then I was natural, then as an adult I kept my hair relaxed to stay in military standards easier. I went natural last year :-)

Monique Perdue: Same here. I went natural in 2014 by mistake. I was just wearing protective styles and one day I took my hair down and it was long and one day I just told my mom I didn't want a perm anymore Its 2016 and I haven't gone back

tatomkili: I was discussing this with a friend and  seeing billboards around LA, one would think that it is.  But my conclusion is that it's not at all a trend.  I feel like with many african american, african, or any textured hair beauty, the idea of being comfortable with our hair is slowly being brought into the norm.  So it may seem to be a fad because a lot of people are doing it at the moment, but when the "european standards of beauty" stop fixating on our coming into terms with our own beauty, then our hair will be a normal but exciting standard of beauty like it should be.

Rusean: for some people with relaxed hair or hair in weaves; staying natural or showing your natural hair MAY be a trend as there is a whole natural hair movement and it is becoming a little bit more acceptable within the black community though it hasn't become more acceptable in the mainstream yet. However, I have never been anything but natural so it could never be a trend for me, its just who/what I am.

Cleopatra Singleton: I really changed because I remember how beautiful my hair used to be and I prefer that to straight, dull, and lifeless hair. I'm eight months natural.

Yanna: I'm 14 now but when I went natural I was 11 because I had a really bad perm and I had a friend that went natural and that was the only way I knew about it. She ended up getting a perm but I'm still natural and I plan on continuing it. I only know two other people who are natural

Lisa Grant: Whether people think it's a trend or not to go natural I think either way it's a good thing. I do feel going natural has become more of a trend but I'm glad it has. It's encouraging more women of our hair texture to feel more comfortable with their own hair. It's letting them know and showing them just how much more beautiful and in my opinion better than that of European hair our hair really is. (:

Hope Sims: Totally agree. I did the big chop in Dec. 2010 and it was a way for me to say I love me and MY natural hair. Honestly I like to stand out and being natural I  felt unique and different. Now its the norm, but I like that. We have changed the meaning of beauty.

April Sealy: I transition to natural, i never know i had some curls i never know abount natural hair until like 2years. I want natural because my hair was thinning i was like oh no ans i learned about being natural. And now i can tell and show my daughter to love her hair.

keshiaKe ANP: I have always liked my hair curly and big even as a young girl....but all I knew was relaxer because that's what my mom did. My hair was still healthy and long when relaxed....Only when I started to not care for it, is when it started to fall out. My little sister started to go natural in 2012 and I did a college project on natural hair and that got me hooked. I thought to myself what's holding me back I love big full hair and never actually knew my hair type so I started TO GROW OUT MY NATURAL HAIR and i am LOVING IT!!!! I do feel a lot of women are going natural but I'll say it is because they want to get to know the real them....

sweethorizons123: Very true...its a choice..people have different reasons for everything. I think the better products on the market are a major contributor to people wanting to go natural as well. Black people were in an age of ignorance as it pertained to natural hair care (some still are), mineral oils, perms, Jeri curls etc were the quick solutions.

Dot the I: I don't think that natural hair, in and of itself, is not a trend. I think certain hairstyles can be trends. But I think there is a movement with the perceived "standard" of beauty amongst women of color. I think slowly within our communities we are understanding that you don't need to emulate white women in order to be attractive. Beauty is becoming more inclusive. With the introduction of so many beautiful women of color, with different hair types and skin tones, rockin' what comes naturally to them. I think within a generation this will become standard. There will be no going back to natural, you would have already been that since birth. LOve the discussion!

Jai Zipporah: I went natural because relaxers cause major health problems like fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome and a lot more that plagued black women that were exposed to the harsh chemicals.

Dollfaced1009: I just get so frustrated with the constant natural vs weave vs perm epidemic. At first it was naturals criticizing women with weaves and relaxers and relaxed and weave wearing ladies knocking naturals. Now it's naturals getting upset and feeling some sense of entitlement to "going natural" and anybody that does it now is only doing because of a trend. I've been natural for 1.5 years and personally I went natural for the health of my hair but also because it was more prevalent in society which in turn made me more comfortable and knowledgeable in the process being I didn't really know my natural hair. I saw more women doing it which made me feel that it was possible to make it happen. We are so brainwashed into believing that we ourselves cannot care for our hair relaxed or natural. So maybe I did it because it was "trending" meaning women were finally talking about it and sharing....not because it was trendy. And who care if women are doing it because it's trendy and cute and fun, I'm just happy to see women embracing their hair and not allowing society to put us in a box. I love weave and will always wear it but I am in love with my natural hair as well. If it's a trend let it be......inspire other women to feel its possible. It's takes one to start a movement and to show its possible. So it's not a trend it's just women learning that they don't have to be afraid of what's growing from their heads.

MusicDJx1: I think it has become a trend, but a positive one. A lot of black women are embracing and loving what they were born with, whether it's their natural hair or the way their body looks.

eli30013: I only wore weaves (sew ins) so my natural/transitioned hair could be protected. Low manipulation made my hair retain its maximum length. Didn't feel the need to invest a crazy amount of $$ for weave that's down to my a** lol. Once I stopped relaxing....I transitioned for 1.5 yrs then chopped off the perm'd ends because I just couldn't deal with 2 textures...too many knots at the line of demarcation on wash & blow-dry day that's my reason for going natural.

SingDea: I decided to transition, because I felt like my relaxed hair was holding me back. I studied abroad in London and my biggest concern wasn't safety, missing home, or would the family be nice; my biggest concern was what would I do with my hair, because I won't have anyone put chemicals in my hair. I don't want to stay in my town my whole life. I want to eventually move to London, or somewhere in Europe. Even if I don't I will be leaving my state and I don't want to have to worry about my hair and feel deterred from doing all I want and can do, because of it.

OG_Suds: The lord told me in my sleep that burns & damage were no longer a part of my ministry. Lol but honestly I got tired of it & it was more expensive for me to keep up a relaxer.

Sammie: Hi I only just discovered your videos and I love them. Can you do a video of your daily hair routine please

E J Darly: Good information and no it's mostly not a trend. When I was a little girl my mother used to rip the hair off of my scalp and tell me, "Beauty Is Pain." She used to be very rough with my hair but it always turned out pretty. She was very jealous of my long hair, but I didn't know that at the time. So it's not just what society says about our hair because it starts in the home with what our mothers and sisters say and do to us. I remember a small incident that happened to new boy at my elementary school. Some of the girls started dogging him about his hair saying that he had a grey hair and that he had bee bees in the back of his neck, but it wasn't true, yet for years that tormented me because I never wanted anyone to make fun of me like that so I would always make sure my relaxer reached the back of my neck and the front where my edges were. It was never just hair to me because I suffered a lot of deliberate and unintentional pain and humiliation. Going natural was a way to tell myself along with the rest of the world that I'm beautiful without the extreme, deadly, and dangerous chemicals I was taught I couldn't live without. What I found to be more harmful than the chemical was the way I used to think about my hair and beauty; That only changed/improved when I took the natural leap because it was truly a journey.

CopperColoredLifestyle94: I think it might feel like a trend because a lot of people are doing it at once. However, I think people are just more comfortable now that they see others with natural hair.

according2sandiee: I still think it is a trend. Everybody is doing it so everybody else is tagging along. Just like unnatural hair colours are a trend.

Unique Long: can you do a tutorial for that hairstyle?.. its so cute!

K Rob: I've been natural my whole life.

Gnarly Jada: I think it's more of a movement than a trend

LaDiDaShaw: I agree with you completely, I was just saying this the other day... plus why is it that we can't view the vast majority of black women getting relaxers as having been a trend? Why is natural seen as the trend but relaxer where/are not?

Mia S.: SPEAK ON IT! I completely agree with you.

tori xo: I do agree with you, it does "seem" like it may be a trend but at the same token as you said in 2009 you did not know many ppl who were going natural and the only ppl you had to reach out to were individuals on youtube.... I recently went natural myself almost a month ago, I had very healthy long and relaxed hair, I did have mild breakage near edges due to heat and a lot of manipulation but my hair was basically perfect... I chose to go natural after I began to view videos of women on youtube who were naturals and showed me how to actually do my natural hair, my mother put a perm in my hair when I was 9 years old and at that age who is really looking at their hair texture? hair was hair to me. I never truly knew what my natural hair was like and also my mother made it seem as if my natural hair was very hard to manage , so after I was taught what products to look at and things that I could do with my hair natural I decided to do the big chop and although this will be a very long journey I am very pleased with my decision, I think a lot of individuls are going natural because they now know how to take care of their natural hair, whereas a few years ago there wasnt a lot of promotion about natural hair products as well as the knowledge on how to take care of it.

phamous1000: You are so empowering!

S Charles: Like Bri said i think for some it is a trend and the ones that stick with it might change their thoughts about why are continuing to going natural and I feel like the people that do, do it for the trend wont last the whole going natural process. I went natural because i wanted healthier thicker hair. I never really knew about natural hair  until a couple years. I also think more people are going natural because they are learning that they DONT have to get relaxers to have beautiful hair, again like myself. They are also more informed.

Cayla Carter: You don't go natural, we return to how it began.

Light Being111: I love your personality. reminds me of myself.

Kimbria Michel: Your beautiful and I love your personality #jealous

M. SS: Bri's Voice, Bri's commentary, Commentary Convo/ Conversation with Bri, or Intellectual Time with Bri? :) it will come to you.

BriMcD: I don't think its wrong to go natural because you like the style. I went natural in 09 because relaxers were breaking off my hair. I didn't think that much of it. It wasn't that deep at first. I had no references and I didn't even know about natural youtube until I was already natural. I kinda think that its a good thing for it to be trend because in away it is promoting natural hair in popular culture as another standard of beauty. Whether you go natural for a trend, health, or to embrace your ethnicity you are still apart of this community. In the words of Shameless Maya DO YOU BOO!!!

Brianna Tate: How about........ " Spill the tea with Bri "

Jasmine Tolbert: I think naturals a trind. This ismy second time going natural .i really find natural hair way way way better than relaxed hair ...and I have noticed a lot of girls going natural just because .....

Shalona Bennette: What about "A real sista thoughts" love who you are keep the videos coming God bless :-)

Shon E: I think going natural as of right now is a trend. I am all for black females embracing their natural hair and everything, but I have somewhat of a problem with those who was hating on my hair 3 years ago but now they transitioning and big chopping, no baby dnt try and hate then duplicate it dnt work like that. You wasnt with me detangling in the bathroom. Lol And its sad to say but all those jumping on the wagon now for the trend won't last because they went natural for the wrong reason

Kia: I don't think it's a trend for a lot of naturals because a trend last for a season(a short time) and a lot of naturals has been natural for years now. Well at least the people I know and watch.

infiniteuniversalthinking: Sorry for the long comment but... HOW CAN YOU CALL THE MOVEMENT OF NATURAL HAIR A *TREND*? *Is it not good that women of colour want to redefine what true beauty is?* *Is it not about breaking the thought process and conditioning of white people (and some black) that it is okay to wear our natural hair in the workplace?* *Are we not teaching our little girls that being natural is beautiful thus making them beautiful?* Why are you saying going natural is a trend? *THE ACT OF GOING NATURAL IS  A POLITICAL MOVEMENT!* Especially for black women. It is our time. I'm sorry that I have to go back in history but the Black Panthers wore their natural hair out as part of a movement, to show they were not conforming to their white oppressors. PLEASE DO NOT CALL IT A TREND LET WOMEN JOIN THE *MOVEMENT*! All you are concerned about is the fact that you were one of the first women to try natural hair and are angry that more women are doing it and you are not getting the praise you deserve for trying it out first/pioneering.  Well done for pioneering you have paved the way for other women but don't call it a trend. We must encourage other women.

TheBeautyShaman: OOOOOHHHH MINE IS THE WINNER :) How about....are you ready....????? "Bring it to Bri" It's catchy! idk if this will be a segment you make for topics we bring you or etc. But if it is it works!

Wanderful: Yes an no I dont really know I think it depends on the person. I started in 2013 and was like oh thats cool im a do it. Then stopped cuz it was to hard. So that gave me time to relax think and research to find yeah im bored iv done everything I would want to do with my relaxed hair lets try going natural. It's almost a yr later im transitioning and its been more then just a fad and curiosity for me its been growth inside and out its been deep I love it. So idk oh and name iur talk time something like word up you better listen or something lol

Jane's corner: Our ancestors had natural hair so I don't see why anyone will say is a trend

ReClaiming Ur Voice: I been natural for about 12 years. ..trend...? Ah,,,, NO!

Skylon Pappillion: Im super late but i am a new subbie and I think you are so pretty!

CurlyGirlLife: Right on point!

lmao: A good title could be, "Articulate Anabri". I dunno, it might sound a little weird, forgive me! LOL

Geiger Geiger: definatly, nobody, was natural like this 6 years ago

Ebony. Queen: thats like me and my cousin, i have a deeper meaning and she saw me and my hair grow and thought it was cute. i didnt get mad lol its interesnting because im over here taking care of my hair wrapping it up drinking water taking vitamins and she barley gives a fuck....that kinda urks me a lil .

NA BY:  I love the title! and love the video

bri2uty: It wouldn't have your name in it, but you can call these videos "Chatterbox". It's like 'box' like the video is a box or maybe you can do a certain logo with a box. Like you can say "welcome to the chatter box" while drawing a box with your fingers as if you are outlining the frame of the video. idk, lol :) Great video!

Basicallyhello: Maybe it should be called SaysBri❤️

TheQueenLioness100: A Moment with Bri

Jasmine Bresnihan: I so agree

Jessa: Natural talk!

Zaahire: "Talk Time with Bri"

All That Jaz: PREACH BOO <3

MsLey: Bri Time, Moments with Bri, With Bri......T^T

SingDea: you should call it "talk that talk to Bri", just to play off Rihanna lol

BreSoNatural: "Bri & a cup of tea"

Amber Davis: Bri's Topics sounds good to me. Not too different though. lol
