This is actually the longest. My hair has been in years. Having curly hair extensions, I feel like it will be really heavy and I feel like it will be hot. Hi. My name is Kayla and I'm going to be getting curly hair extensions.. Before you see my hair transformation subscribe below. One of my curly hair icons is my mom.. She was growing up, you know 70s 80s times.. She had a giant afro. People were always fussing over it, trying to get her to straighten it. And she just held strong and kept it curly.. Because of my mom, I always wore my hair curly. And I was never somebody who straightened my hair all the time when I was younger.. She kind of gave me that empowerment in my hair. Having curly, hair extensions, they're gon na be perfect, beautiful curls., But I'm nervous, my hair will change texture and then it will be super obvious.. I'M also a little bit nervous about the color matching, because I have a birthmark on my head, which makes some of my pieces blonde.. But I really just want to experience that feeling of having long luscious, curly hair and I feel like it will make a huge statement.. Let'S get started. Hi Kayla. Hi Nice to meet you. So nice to meet you Hi, I'm Christo., I'm the artistic director of Christo. Fifth Avenue and Curlisto Systems. Nice head of hair. Thank you. Beautiful.. Alright, let's see what we're gon na do, today.. Obviously my hair is nice and voluminous which I really like, but I would love to kind of reduce some of the frizz and the damage to it. While also getting additional length and seeing some of that extra pull from it. Dryness frizziness any kind of damage, it's easy to reverse it.. That'S why we're gon na do the damage control treatment today. With a Diametrix cut, we're gon na elongate it a little bit your hair.. So it's not going to have so much bulkiness, so you're going to see a nice length. From there. If we need to add extensions, whether it will be extensions that can help you grow your hair out, but definitely you're gon na start to see length in the next few months.. Yes, would love an amazing shiny, long transformation.. Let'S do it. Yay Okay. Kayla. She had beautiful hair that was lack of protein and moist and was very frizzy and very dry.. So what we needed to do is to first come up with a plan.. The plan was number one give her the Diametrix cut in order to elongate her hair. A little bit. Number two do a treatment. That'S called damage control, which is from my Curlisto line that helps to extra moist, the hair and the curl. To have more softer. Look almost give you the illusion that the hair got a little bit longer by itself.. I'M coming from Greece., I have curly, hair myself., Structure and proteins are good conditioners that have moisturizers are good. Coconut oil. It'S still not really adding any moisture.. No coconut oil, no Greek oil, no argan oil, no baby oil, no oil., Oh my god, so interesting. Oils are good for salads massages.. Should this be my new tinder picture? My worst haircut ever was when I was in elementary school, and this was before I started - going to a curly hair specialist who knew what they were doing.. They washed my hair, they straightened it., And then they asked me what haircut I wanted.. They cut my hair into a bob and I go home., I'm so happy.. I take my shower., My hair scrunches back up it curls and I literally felt like I looked like a clown. Back in high school. I put so much gel on it to just keep it down., And I did that for so many years.. I don't know what went off in my head. Finally, where I was like okay, it's time to embrace your volume, your frizz, all the things., Thank God because it wasn't cute., We use a leave-in conditioner called repair cream.. That was the first thing that we used to style the hair. Prior to that we used the natural line, the natural shampoo, conditioner and the mask in order to moisturize her hair.. We used two stylers. One was the structural lotion and the other one was a control. Gel. Both the combination would give us the definition on the curl., Our hair. It is our number one accessory.. When our hairs look good, we feel good. We do good., It's very important that you invest in your hair., Don't hold back because you can be wearing the most beautiful dress or the most beautiful suit. If your hair doesn't look good, you are not going to look good. So invest in your hair and then you'll be a lot happier. There. You go. Oh my god.. What do you think It's so light, which is shocking because the extensions are still in, but it feels so much lighter than when I came in. And it feels so so soft. You're a curl magician.. I'M like shook honestly. Being able to work with somebody who actually can look at my hair and diagnosis. It pretty much and not just say that, but also achieve that was just such an amazing experience. For curly hair. It'S so rare to actually be with someone who can do all of those things.. So I have my little prescription now with all of my to dos. After nourishing the hair and making it shinier, making it less damaged and getting that treatment on its own. It was like so much longer. And I feel like it's just a good little boost of not only confidence but also reassurance that long hair is gon na, be a good move.

Refinery29: Have you ever had extensions before? Share your experiences with us below!

Louis Lee: Okay, so her hair, was perfection, with the different natural colours on her head. The moisture treatment really made it beautiful. The EXTENSIONS, however...wtf were those janky clip-ins he just tossed in her hair, literally one on top of another? And why were they so loose, compared to HER own coils?? This whole video was great, except for when the extstions went in. He didn't even APPLY them correctly. I was so triggered lmao

Patri Sánchez: the treatment and the cut: ok, nice the extensions: doesn't look good, too dark, too low as they should be placed on the roots, the curl pattern is diferent to her natral curls, and I thought they will be permanent extensions not just a clip ones...

Kay yummy: LMFAO she had every right to be worried. I've never seen somebody put extensions in that far away from the scalp. And if you want to dry her hair like that where is partially frizzy you better comb out the curls a little bit so at least the frizz matches. You can't have perfect looking curls on the bottom and then a little frizz on top. They're not even the same color

Randi Suttles: He did a horrible job on those extensions they need to be closer to scalp I feel like he got them to short and tried to make longer putting it down half the hair shaft. Her curls looked better after though!

Simyle: Definitely agreed with the others, extensions weren't needed and the stylist didn't even colour the extentions to match her hair. She doesn't need them anyway her hair is so long without!

T Mathete: At this point we're watching refinery29 hair transformations to critique

Heidi Bowie: I don't like the extensions, but am glad her natural hair looked healthy and vibrant. You curly-hair girls - Keep rocking it!!! This straight-hair girl is so jealous!

Haley Vang: I don’t like this one...... the extensions didn’t even blend in with her hair

Bunny: I loooved the cut and style of her hair pre-extensions! It was the hair that she walked in with, but elevated. Beautiful

Renee Robinson: I'm consistently seeing "Hair Me Out" videos with seemingly ineffective and out of touch stylists such as this guy who is telling a woman with coarse, curly hair not to use oil. Refinery needs to move away from these Instagram famous, entrepreneurial type stylists who are more about pushing their image and brand than actually doing hair. Find an actual stylist next time.

Major Robinson: I love the fact she has naturally perfect blonde highlights from a birthmark

The Mediumalist: This girl officially won the award for both coolest and most beautiful hair ever.

Paula: It's a no from me :/ she has amazing hair. There is no need for extensions besides for only a quick photoshoot

Kay yummy: You should have went to a black salon. This dude clearly doesn't know how to work curly hair that well enough to see that the extensions were not Blended honey

Sean Murray: The extensions make the bottom of her hair look thin and miscoloured. Her curls look very healthy though!

Khardellen: As someone that wears clip in curly hair extensions the way those extensions were placed, the shade, the texture, what an atrocity! With curly hair extensions its about 4 main things: Texture Color Length Placement Which he didnt give her

minnamarouf: I feel like those extensions didn’t really blend in very nicely, they were darker and looked fake in comparison to her own?

HumanGirlPonyo: The cut and the treatment made her hair look so much healthier!!

Krishnaa Sardeshmukh: I love the hair me out series so much, can't wait to see more ❤

Jules: Her curls are amazing! My mom also empowered me to embrace my curls.

mabeliita: Her hair is beautiful and has a lot of potencial, she doesn’t need extensions she needs to care for her hair with treatments and a good haircut, that’s it.

Ann: She has hair like a lot of Black and Brown people, she should go to a Black salon.

Justin Fredieu: Am I the only one who was confused when he clipped them in 5 inches from the scalp

Fallon Fontaine: When he said no oils I tuned out & just watched for entertainment purposes. Then, he put in the extensions 2 inches from her roots & I was shook. She has beautiful hair but she should've went somewhere else.

Kreszentia Lynne Petroff: He plopped those in half a foot down her hair and called it a day

EverythingwithB: Ummm he should’ve blended the clips better. They literally look like they were slapped in

Christina Jonassaint: I just want to say that I was super sad about this video because the hairstylist should’ve said that he could not handle hair like her and y’all (@refinery29) could’ve found a stylist who could. She has beautiful hair that airs more along the lines of black/mixed hair. Since this is the case, her hair cannot be styled/treated as if it is a looser texture. Unfortunately for her she probably needed more educating during her hair styling process because she seemed a bit lost and wanted to get the best out of her curls. The chosen stylist could not do so because he clearly couldn’t even match her extensions. This is not to bash anyone but to simply say it is important to be more socially aware. She has such amazing hair and with the right stylist this would’ve been a more enjoyable video. I would love to see her get styled again... by someone who knows how to match her texture and how to get the right length of extensions etc. as well as how to educate her and others out there watching how to do this type of curly hair. Again her hair is so perfect and glorious in every way so I’m glad she embraces it

Sarah Ethel: Doing extensions 12 years and I’ve never seen clips in places so badly or low. Wrong colour match up, wrong texture!!!

Susan Cunliffe: She should start going to black salons cause this ain’t it

iamserenanicole: I’m just wondering who let him put these extensions in and where the hell he got them from her hair is amazing like absolutely on it’s own - a black stylist would’ve had her in full head clip ins looking bomb af

Hey, it's Kimberlee!: Her hair is beautiful on its own! I just cracked up laughing seeing the extensions so far from her scalp lol maybe he should’ve gotten longer extensions

Phoenix Hunter: Her hair is perfect. She didn’t need extensions ❤️. People get extensions to look like her natural hair .. edit: the extensions were beautiful as well. Not to take away from that. But I was just blown away by her natural hair. Both are so pretty

Nimisha Keskar: as usual underwhelming!- the hair color, length, procedure, discussions, everything! The girl is awesome, she id just the best! and as usual, the video was so well shot! kudos :-)

Seerat K: Saw this on Snapchat, searched for this particular video online just to see the reviews and comment about how awful those extensions were. For someone who has never used extensions, even I know how wrong and mismatched they were.

Audrey Salgado: I LOVE this video ! Her hair looks so much healthier!!

Maddie Boyd: Your hair is absolutely fabulous, love the final look!!

Meme Rose 🌹: Her natural hair is sooooooooooo gorgeous!!!!!! She doesn’t need extensions but if they make her happy that’s all that matters

Rachael D.: What? Curly and super curly hair needs oils to lock in moisture... First, you apply a hydrating/moisturizing cream and then put in an oil to seal in the moisture so the dry air around you doesn't suck all the moisture out of your hair and cause dry frizz.

Pretty Buff Bod: Protein overload is the worst!! Your hair looks so gorgeous

Cameron Mat: Saw this video on Snapchat but had to check it out on youtube to see if i was the only one who thought those extensions most definiteky did not blend. Her natural hair is so beautiful, it's a shame the results were disappointing

Stefany Cifuentes: As someone with curly and voluminous hair I can totally understand why he didn’t do it from the roots. He wanted to add length. From the roots it would just expand more to the sides and up

Jenna Sanders: Her hair is unreal i would love to have curly hair

helloharlow: Her hair is my dream hair! Love her with the bangs and blunt cut at the beginning

Fresh: My hair is like yours , I was also told when I was younger by some strangers I need to straiten my hair , my hair was the pride of my grandfather who was Irish ☘️ , I loved my hair and now it’s in style and I get compliments

Sarah from the Internet: The treatment and cut were such an improvement but those extensions are a joke. They’re not even in half the end shots!

Daniel Salvador: Finally someone said it! No oil! I try it on my hair and it either leave me greasy or dry. It just doesn’t dry very well with water.

P. Marouf: I'm sorry to say that most of the times I click on a makeover video like this I expect a weird result. Her hair looked super cute before.

Satomi Suzuk: The extensions not blended in. There’s literally a demarcation but then hair treatment and haircut is

Elizabeth Hughes: I loved this one, she was so pretty and radiated confidence after her cut. Which is what a haircut is all about. Its hard when you have unusual hair (I do too) to feel welcome in a hair salon. I have a real fear of someone fucking up my hair but can't find a salon that gets me

donovan stokes: Why? She didn’t need janky extensions. Her hair was literally already perfect the way it was!

Miley Wink: That same thing happend to me when my hair was straight and the cut it to my shoulders and it was above my ear when it curled

Laila S: her natural hair is so special and amazing wow

Naima Irfan: I love my curly hair. I pray I never have to straighten it.

Antony Beney: Omg I’m not by any means educated in hair but I know she looked amazing once the treatments were in and she was dried BUT those extensions!! They were clipped in at mid length, over lapping, wrong colour and horrendously applied! I apply mine better than that!

Caroline Love: Having natural blonde highlights is an amazing birthmark

muirgirl: This guy saying NO OIL has me and my castor oil dead over here from laughter. Perfect.

Tara Angel: She has gorgeous hair! Why get extensions ‍♀️

Sara Anders: OMGGGG I WISH I COULD DO THIS BEEN WONDERING WHAT IT BE LIKE

Silver: Wait, what happened? Everything is going great. Wash, style. Then the Record cuts off.. Why did he clip the extensions on the shaft of her hair?? I thought he was going to show her the texture and see if she agreed with it then apply them to her hair in proper order. I'm left here thinking, what was that guy thinking? Who does that?

Janice Lam: Her hair is so pretty

JuaniqueVerde: I liked her hair! The curl transformation was everything! However, like the majority of comments: those extensions were trash . She def didn’t need them!

Angel Lundberg: girl, please go to someone else next time. he did a horrible job tbh

Liz Darden: Omg nooooooooooooooooooo. All stylist please stand up. He didnt understand her texture at all. He did great of hydrating it and making sure her curls were more defined but that weave job was horrible

Kennedy Davis: The hair doesn’t even match, in curl pattern or color. It’s not supposed to look like you have fake hair, and that’s exactly what it looks like.

Life without Stress: If the extensions were placed on the scalp then the volume would be too much. He had to lower them a bit to make sure that the extra volume was kept to minimal.

Aly: "Invest in your hair and you will be happier." Proceeds to ruin this woman's hair with janky-ass extensions, followed by a terrible placement of them. Okay.

Erin Whipple: I was with him up until the extensions lmao wtf did anyone else think that was supposed to be satire?

samara habib: Her natural hair is just so beautiful it looked perfect after the transformation but the extensions looked really stupid it doesn’t blend out with the rest

The Disney Diva: The way he put in those extensions had me nervous. They look okay though.

Paul Kihiu: Her hair is so beautiful

Shannon: She had beautiful curly hair in the beginning. As a hairstylist.... I cringed watching him put in those extensions. No hate to the hairstylist I'm sure he is amazing at what he does... We all have our mistakes as a hairstylists.

Nereida Lopez: Finally content I can relate to!

Ruhee Rathod: Your natural hair is so beautiful and luscious! Those extensions should have been dyed to match your beautiful natural hair! The fake extensions don’t match or blend well at all. Doesn’t even look like real human hair extensions :(

Ari Tyson: Your mom did NOT have an afro....she just had large curly hair. Not the same thing. Please stop trying to make the phrase Afro work for hair that's not a fro.

Raia Fatema: He made her hair look great and nice (The extensions not so much though)

Ellie Pollo: The budget must have ran out when they got to the extensions part.

Bord: Her hair.... gorgeous The extensions....no

A. C. Wells: The final result did not look good at all! She needed to go to a black stylist familiar with kinky curly hair. The extensions actually flattened her hair! She probably needed deep conditioning and some layering to help boost the volume of her curls.

Kaytie Myers: Gorgeous!!!

Anamae torres: Okay love her hair so beautiful but this was kinda silly

Zeinab Khan: Him: No oil South Asian moms: Wtf did you just say???

kngsalma: I don't put exention for my hair but I am 14 yrs.they looking very amazing

MakeupMenaree: Um why he put those extensions on her hair like that? That mess is about to rip her hair out!

earthy_atmosphere: her natural hair looks amazing but the extensions.... yikes!

Blue Red: Damn. Your curls are beautiful. And you are pretty. You are on fire

Tamaya David: I came all the way from Snapchat just to see the comment section about those extensions Like it’s supposed to be at the scalp, he didn’t do a good job, but her hair is beautiful❤️

Lauryn: and this is what happens when we go to people that don't specialize in curly hair or extensions :)

Jennifer Aguirre: Omg why her hair was SO pretty :o I LOVE the her natural hair . Ok wow why were they placed that way :o l

Asha C: Can we get Brad Mondo to review this?!

Jana TAYLOR: I loved her before This hair stylist did not a good job

tal: how do hairdressers get away with this lmao

Lainie Medina: I should've know the outcome wouldn't be good when he said oils only work on salad. Now I know everyone's hair don't react to oils the same, but saying the as an overall don't work? Sir, you're excused.

lucy maycock: What the hell?? Who applies extensions like that?? Miles away from the root and a row attached to another row??? Horrendous and unprofessional. I imagine she will have a world of problems dealing with those!

Miss P: I really love the hair transformation. But this time he did a really bad job with the extensions

chels !: The fact that he put the clip in so low omg. It’ll cause breakage later on

ladyydyonne: Those extensions were disrespectful. Point blank. She has some gorgeous hair and the stylist lacked technique and probably charged an arm and a leg for it

LÉ MARI L: The extension are a no! He definitely wand curled them to give it that curly affect

pppotatoes: oh my god DREAM HAIR!! seriously her hair is just so stunning before and after

Cydnei Alexandriah: this woman is so beautiful...
