How To Comb Hair Extensions When Wet | Instant Beauty ♡

Hey Beauties!

How to Comb Hair Extensions when Wet

Combing your hair extensions is just one aspect of taking care of your hair extensions. Combing your hair extensions when wet is an important skill to gain when you have permanent hair extensions including fusion, tape, micro ring, micro weft and any type of weave.

When combing, use a wide toothed comb and start from the bottom, working out the tangles gently.

Hey beauties, it's Sam from instant Beauty in this video. I just wanted to talk about how to comb your hair. If you have extensions the type of extensions I'm talking about our fusion micro ring tape, even weave any type of extension that you have permanently on your head. I know this may seem like a very basic video, but honestly, I think it is an important, very, very important technique to learn how to do it properly, because this way you will never pull another extension out of your hair prematurely and you will definitely get the Longest of life, out of your extensions, so I've washed my hair and basically, once you wash your hair, you want to just towel dry. It don't rub it aggressively with the towel, because this can cause further tangles and matting, and you can also actually use this technique in the shower too. If you have a little bit of conditioner in your hair. This way, if you have a lot of knots, for example, a lot of tangles this way, you can really prevent ripping them out, but out of the shower works just as well. So what I've done is I washed my hair and just towel dried? It very very gently - and I did not flip my head upside down - I just sort of patted the towel on my hair and I've sprayed a leave-in conditioner. My favorite leave-in conditioner is by infusium 23. It is lightweight, doesn't affect the bonds at all of the extensions. So it's really really great and it keeps the hair very, very soft and manageable, and it also really detangles the hair. So if you do have tangles it's a great one to use anyways back to the technique. Basically, what you want to do is just try with your fingers first to see if you have a lot of knots in your hair, because my clients, most of the time what happens, is they'll, find a knot and just kind of yank at it and then the Extension either falls out or slips down or hurts and pulls out your own hair, which is something you definitely want to avoid. So what you need to do is just take small sections. You don't want to have big sections, so small sections and then just start from the bottom and just see if there are any tank and just kind of work. Your way up, so you always want to be holding the section of hair. With your other hand, while you comb it with the other hand, because if you just call them like this, you might get a extension caught in the brush or a tangle might get caught. And then you can have a problem. So you want to take section by section: hold it and then just comb it up gently. You don't want to be rough if you do find a tangle, be very gentle, gentle and just kind of start from the bottom and work your way up until you have no more tangles. So you want to grab a section and then just start from the bottom and then work those tangles out very gently if you've already used your spray or leaving conditioner you'll have an easier time doing this. That'S why I always recommend it. So I am using a wide tooth comb, because this way I really will not pull out any tangles. The bristles are wide enough apart that the tangles can slip through. So you won't get anything caught and you won't get any extensions caught in your comb. So again, you want to always make sure you're holding the hair before you start to brush or comb it out. Okay, so I'm tangle-free another thing you wanted to keep in mind to do when you are doing this process is get in the habit of feeling around the buns. You want to do this when it's wet and when it's dry, but when it's wet you want to just press down or feel around on the bonds. So if you have fusions, you want to feel around, because what you want to be looking for is soft glue. If any of the bonds have gone soft, this can result in the damage to the glue, which means that the extensions will be falling out. So what I would do is call the person who installed it for you or your hairstylist and ask if there is anything they can do for this problem. Also, when you are combing out your hair, if you find that you have any shedding, you want to see why, possibly, it could be your own hair. Natural hair is falling out, but if it comes out in clumps, you might be having an issue and the glues or tapes may have gotten damaged. Another reason for feeling around on the bonds is to see if you have any matting at the root. As your hair extensions grow out, it is very difficult sometimes to comb in between the bonds or the tapes or the Rings or whatever you have in your hair. So what you should do is just with your fingers kind of separate each bond and just make sure that you don't have any matting or any spots where there's a lot of tangles at the root. And because if this does happen, then it is a good idea to see your professional, so they can take care of the problem now before it gets out of hand, and at this point then all you have to do is just dry, your hair and style. As you would, a good tip is to just sort of let them dry and naturally this can really extend the life of your extensions but be sure to dry the roots at least half dry. That way they don't sit, sopping wet, which can damage. You know the bond the glue, the tape or whatever you have as an attachment for your extension. So that's about it for this video guys. I hope this kind of cleared things up for you, those of you who weren't sure about this process. If you have any questions, you can always comment below and otherwise I'll see you guys soon take care bye. You

Sierra Coleman: I am a level 8 gymnast and I practice 4 hours everyday. My hair gets very tangled after practice and I have to wear my hair in a tight ponytail at gymnastics. Do you think the bonds would ever fall out in a practice/competition? Would keratin bonds be a bad idea for me? Thanks!

Ani Naderi: Awesome!! Thank you so much!!
