This was to help out a fellow lash tech! I hope this was helpful and made sense! There are a couple things to keep in mind when making fans especially when starting out! You need to consider the sweet spot of your tweezers, where you are grabbing your lashes and how much adhesive your placing in the fan!

Closed fans can happen at any point but these little tips can help avoid that and give you the perfect fan!

Do you use the Pinch Method???

What'S up guys welcome back to my channel, my name is ariel. If you didn't know, update on my giveaway today is the day that i will be announcing. The winner of my flourish, giveaway they'll, be getting three trays from flourish. Lashes in their rose volume lashes. So you have to stay tuned to the end of the video to find out who wins. So today's video is going to be all about fan making. This is like the i feel, like people search this up all the time, because it is so hard to find videos and there's on on like fan making itself. Plus there are so many little things you have to know about fan making um. This is just one tip that i do want to share with you guys, and it's because i had a comment. This comment is from maddie turner, so she said my fans are always closing when i apply them to the lash. Is it due to my glue or my technique? There are a couple reasons why your fans could be closing. One could be yeah your glue and the other could actually be technique. This is such a common thing, especially when you're starting out it's a little bit harder to uh gauge, exactly where it's supposed to be and where your fans uh kind of stay open, rather than just like kind of applying, and then they like close right off. Okay. So first thing i do want to talk about is your tweezers, so your tweezers, every single tweezer is different and it doesn't matter if you have an l, tweezer or a j tweezer or a boot tweezer, every single tweezer has a different sweet spot. So what that means is, there is a point in which the tweezers uh clothes, where your your lashes are going to fan out with and then once you pull it out, it's all going to come together. So the problem is, if you use your, if you use your tweezers and you're, pulling off the fan at the wrong spot in the tweezer, you may miss lashes, like the like two of the lashes may come off the fan and the fan's still on the strip Or you're uh pinching and then because it's not the sweet spot, they're closing um, there's different reasons. Why? But you absolutely need to know the sweet spot of your tweezers or you're, just not gon na get a proper fan any at all. So you need to know this. It'S super important, so i'm gon na go ahead and show you guys what i mean by finding the sweet spot in your tweezer okay. So i'm gon na be using my flourish. Uh, l tweezer! Sorry, it's like a little blurry, i'm using my flourish l-tweezer as well as this little boot tweezer here. So i'm gon na try the l-tweezer first! Okay, if you hold your tweezer like this you'll see the space in between the two tips. There should be no gaps in between there because once there's a gap that means that your grip is not going to hold and the lashes are not going to hold in between the tweezers. So this is extremely important. You have to make sure that when you get a new pair of tweezers, you do this little test. You check it out, make sure there's no space in between you can't see in between, or else it's just not gon na work. I'M gon na find my sweet spot by grabbing from the tip and then i'm going to kind of shimmy through and see where it actually fans out. So if i start at the end, the inner, the inner corner here, you're going to see it's not really fanning because there's too much space there, it's fanning, but it's not really fanning properly. And then, if i go a little bit closer in the middle um, not really fanning, there go a little closer to the end and not too much and then the tip. Definitely not so. I'M gon na go back here and i noticed that the best fan that i got was actually at the end. So now i'm gon na adjust my grip a little bit. Sorry, it's so hard to do a demo and show, but i'm gon na adjust my grip. A little bit and i'm going to grab and see how it picked up the entire thing it picked up the whole lash. That'S what you want. You want to make sure that it picks up the whole fan, and now, once i dip this into my glue, it's going to hold, even though this little guy is poking out, it's okay it'll hold once i pick put it in the glue so, like i said, Every single tweezer has a different sweet spot so for that particular tweezer it was a little bit more on the inner side of it, but you do want to remember that the tip of your tweezer is the sharpest point. So that's why i pick up my lashes with the inner or sorry with the point, so i'm gon na grab the same thing grab a couple lashes here and then i'm gon na try on the in the inner corner again see how that works. It fans out pretty good, let's just go in the inner, the middle of it again, not too well, oh, it's still fanning, but not the best and then the the tip of it sorry and then the tip of it um not the best as well. So i already know here the inner part is that sweet spot. So i'm gon na pick that up now and there you go so it picks up nicely and we know that they'll hold really well once i grab the uh right part of the tweeze with the right part of the tweezers okay. The second thing i want to talk about is glue, so i just did a video on glue, but i didn't really mention uh like how much glue was more about facts. So what i want to do talk about is when you are doing fans, you have to be very, very conscious on how much glue you're attaching to the fan and how far up you're going with the glue. So i'm going to show you guys right now, but i do want to say that you have to put the right amount of glue or your lash or your fan isn't going to attach to your natural lash or if you put too much glue, it can kind Of slide up and close, your fan completely. So, let's, let's go into a demo about that, because i'm going to show you guys how i do my little glue and make sure that you have enough glue that the lash will stick, but not too much that it will uh close the fan. Okay, so same thing grabbing my tweezers at the right spot fanning out the way i want them to fan, pulling off just right and then i'm gon na go ahead and dip the base alone. It'S hard to tell, but i'm going to try and do it. So you can see the angle of how much i'm dipping in here, but just that tip and see that they're already still together, sorry they're still apart, so i'm going to just lightly loosen my grip. If i have to dip back in a couple times, i will, but i won't go far in it's just the right at the tip just to get the thin base. That is perfect. That'S all the glue! You need to create a nice wide fan with a thin base. Okay, so i grabbed this guy and then i'm gon na go ahead and dip a little further in okay. That still looks good to me, like, i think, that's a great fan still, even though i dipped a little bit further in it still wasn't enough to close the fan. So, let's just see once i let go of this fan, how it'll look it didn't close, didn't close stays, open, still stays fluffy and you're good last one. So i'm going to take my lashes grab it okay, so i'm gon na go ahead and i'm gon na put this a little further in and you can already see that it instantly closed and it's already it's just it's closing immediately. So once i let it go, it's literally so closed. I mean, i guess you could use it as a narrow fan, but because there's so much glue on it that base and that stem is way too thick. There'S just too much glue. It'S too thick. It'S just not going to look good on the actual lash, especially if you do a full set like this and you're not going to get that wide open. Look that you're looking for! Let'S just try it one more time and i'm going to show you exactly the right amounts. So i'm going to put the same thing, i'm going to grab a little more in this one fan it out nicely. I'M going to okay grabbed a little more in this one there it is i'm going to dip it in here, a little bit not too much just enough to create that base nice and wide fan looks super cute. You can even hold it a little bit longer. So that way, that glue can cure a little bit with the shape that it's in, if you find that they're still closing and i'm just gon na place it down and if anything it actually bloomed out a little more. So you can shape it like that as well. If you put it down, you can kind of separate where you want it to be. If you feel like they're uneven there, you go still a wide cute fan: okay and then my third tip on this is about technique. So technique is super important when it comes to fans uh. Rather, whether you use the pinch method or the shimmy method, it doesn't matter, you just have to make sure um you're doing the technique correctly uh. So for the pinch method, i know that means you're like i personally, don't use the pinch method but um you have to make sure you're picking up your uh lash fan or your lashes in general at the right spot again, the sweet spot of the tweezer and You'Re pinching them in the right area, so that way, they're blooming and then you're, you're grabbing them and you're holding on to them at the right um. I want to say temperature. That'S what i'm trying to say at the right, um pressure, so you're not holding on too tight with your tweezers, because if you hold on too tightly with your tweezers uh they're, not gon na fan out. And if you hold on to loose they're going to completely fall apart, so you have to make sure that you're holding on at the right spot. So this is why it's so important to practice your fans, because, if you just jump into it and you start fanning um, you end up with like fans like this fans, like that fans like all over the place. So you have to make sure that your technique is down packed and you are um picking up and finding that sweet spot, okay and then for the shimmy method. Uh the technique as well. I do have a video about the shimmy method technique. I will put that here um, but it is important as well that you are picking up your lashes at the right spot because it's not if you're shipping and you're shimmying too high uh. Once you actually lift the lashes off the strip. The fans will close immediately. So i'm going to show you a quick demo on how i do that shimmy method. Unfortunately guys i can't do the pinch method. I am not good at the pinch method, so i can't show you a demo on that, but i will get you that very soon. Okay, next thing i want to show is how you grab your your lashes. So, like i said, i don't do the pinch method, so unfortunately i can't really show you the pinch method, but i will get that for you, so you can see it um, i'm gon na grab because i already know with this tweezer it's gon na be the Inner um end of it, so i'm gon na go ahead with the sharpest point pick up like divide where i want to grab how many lashes i want to grab go to the end, i'm just going to shimmy, but i'm going to grab from the middle of The lash so grabbing from the middle of the lash, not all the way down, not all the way up and okay, that looks good right. That'S the middle of the lash, not too low, not too high, and it has a good fan, not super, fanned out but fanned out enough and obviously, once i put this in glue, it would fan out nicely okay. So let's do the same thing again. I'M gon na grab with the tip of my tweezers, always remember to take out these little end guys because it's not going to work properly so take out the whatever's left in there, because you want to make sure you get a nice tight fan. Okay, so i'm going to grab with the end and i'm going to go really high three quarters of the way and i'm gon na pull off now still a decent fan, not bad, but you can tell that this is gon na, be a narrow fan for sure, Because the stem is longer, therefore the fan doesn't have the room to widen out. So, that's why you want to make sure you're grabbing at the right spot for the type of fan that you're going to create last one, i'm going to grab same thing and this time i'm going to go from the bottom, so i'm grabbing from the bottom. I'M going to fan out and i'm going to pull off. Okay, that to me is a great fan, because i know what it's going to look like once i dip that in glue, so it's it's nice and wide, but it's not super wide and it's not narrow. It'S the perfect fan for me. That'S what i like to create some people like super super wide fans. I like these kind of fans. Okay, i do want to quickly tell you guys that i do struggle trying to do these fans for you on camera, because i really am a person that needs to see super up close. I have to hold my fan close to my eyes to see. I wear glasses, but i feel like sometimes my fans - don't come all that great on camera, so i want to show you guys that, like this is what a normal fan would look like for me. My base is super thin. I, like i genuinely just need it to be close to my face, so i can create the right fan, but i try my best to give you guys a good representation, and i promise you all the tips that i put on here. Work for me, and i have continued to use them to create these fans, so i just want to show you guys how your fans should look once you do them properly. Okay, so those are my three tips and uh my three things that you need to focus on to make sure that your fans are blooming properly and staying bloomed um. I hope this was helpful maddie. I hope this answered your question. Okay. So now i'm gon na do my giveaway winner on like a draw online, so you guys can see exactly who's gon na win, so i'm gon na go ahead and enter all that info in okay, so i'm gon na hit start and we're gon na go ahead. Okay, so the winner is cindy griffin allen, so i am going to message. You comment down below your. If you, if i don't get in touch with you, can you comment down below your info?
