Hello: everyone, it's dave from dave's race and things you've requested it. So here it is today my big bow, making compilation video, i'm taking five different bows using no bow making tools at all. Let'S get started and i'll show you how i made all of these bows. I am using a two and a half inch wire ribbon gon na use some scissors and a pipe cleaner. That'S all i'm gon na use today, nice and simple right. Why don't we get started and i'll show you how to make that bow. I have this two and a half inch wire ribbon. It'S a beautiful pattern that i got from michaels and the first thing that i usually do is i unravel it from the cardboard spool. It'S something that i do. I find it's easy. You don't have to do this. You can keep it attached if you want, but for me this is nice and easy. I can flip it over and work with it a lot easier if it's just rolled up like this. So that's usually the first step that i do in making my bow. The second step is, i actually cut off a piece for the tail right at the beginning. So when i'm making my bow, i don't get it all together and forget about the tail. So i cut off a little piece and then i just put it off to the side and normally with ribbon. You have one good side and one bad side with this ribbon. Both sides are good, so i don't really have to worry about. What'S the good side and what's the bad side, but stick around to the end and i'll show you how to do one with a good side and a bad side. First, all i'm going to do is i'm going to create a little small loop with the ribbon facing down and then i'm going to create another small loop and fold that over so it's overlapping the first loops we created. Then i'm going to take a finger length. Longer than the below loop and i'm just going to fold it over and again, i do the same thing for the other side about a finger length longer than the last loop, and i just do that over and over again wait until the very end. So again, don't forget. This is with two good side of a ribbon and i'll show you after this one how to do a ribbon or a bow. I should say with a ribbon that has one good side and one bad side. So i usually just take my time with this. As you can see, and i just fold it over and fold it over once - that's all done. I'M just gon na grab the center squish it in place it between my two fingers. Then i'm gon na grab a pipe cleaner right in the center fold it over a little bit and then i'm gon na twist that pipe cleaner, nice and tight and give it a couple of really good twists. Because you don't want that bow unraveling on you and there you go. We have the start to our bow and our little tail piece that i've already dovetailed. I fold it in half and then i just add it to that pipe cleaner and give it a couple of really good twists, and with this you don't want to cut that excess off. So you can use that to wrap around whatever you need to wrap it around and once you've done, that you just unravel every single loop and get it a little bit puffy and you just spread them all out and you just really fiddle around with it. Until you like the way it looks, i just kind of push it out open it up, push it out, open it up. You know i just basically i fiddle around with it, but really there you go. That'S all that there is to making a really simple. Really nice bow - and here we are with our ribbon with one good side and one faded side for this. I'M going to have the good side facing down all the time. Then i'm going to first create a little loop, just like we did in the beginning and then i'm going to create another little loop on the other side, that's going to be the smallest loops of our bow and again i am going to do that. Little finger trick measuring, but first we want the good side down. So i'm going to squish in the center give it a twist and then make sure that good side is facing down. Then, with my finger, i'm going gon na flip it over squish it in the center and then give it another good twist, so that good side is always facing down for me when i do my bows i do this. All the time face down facing the table is the good side such that i always remember so again that finger length just longer than the last bow flip it over squishing that center and twisting so every time you come to the center, you want to squish and Twist, that's a new dance squish and twist squish and twist, but there you go. You just do the same method over and over again, making sure that good side is facing down until you've come to the end of your ribbon. And when you come to the end, you just fold it to the center squish it all together, put it between your fingers, grab that pipe, cleaner, bend it at the center fold and give it some really good twist, because you don't want that bow going anywhere. You'Ve already made this beautiful bow. So here is my little tail portion and i cut it on an angle with the good side facing out and that's going to give you that beautiful dovetail so fold it with the good side facing out and then cut out on an angle squish that tail and Bend it just to shape it a little bit and add that, twist to it, so it's not going to go anywhere and again we just find our loops open them up, spread them out until you're happy with the outcome, and i have to say i love this Ribbon and how this bow turned out there, you go a quick, simple bow in five minutes. I have two rolls of dollarama ribbon and i got these for dollar 25 each at dollarama and they are about two inches wide and nine feet long. So there's two rolls of those i have like a chevron and then like a spirally glittery one today, you're gon na need scissors and you're. Also gon na need a pipe cleaner and that's about all you're gon na need to make these bows. Today, i'm going to just start off by cutting out that cellophane, that's around them and, like i said these are two inches about two inches. I measured them just a little bit under two inches long by nine feet. Long and i use the entire roll and i'm just unraveling, my chevron ribbon and it's got like a glittery side and then a dull side and the same with the spiral ribbon. So there is a shiny side and a dull side. So, there's a good side and a bad side, we'll call it the dull side and they are both wired ribbon. What we're going to have to remember today is that our good side is always going to face down so you'll see here is the sparkly good side and then on that other side, which is going to be face up, is that dull side and all i'm going To do is lay the two ribbons on top of each other and that's how we're going to start and i'm going to create my first loop, just kind of eyeballing the size i don't usually measure. I turn it to the side. Just to see see here. We created that little loop, that's going to be the smallest loop on our bow today and then you take both wreaths and just kind of come across everything holding it in place. Again, i always joke around saying i need more than one hand or two hands sorry when making ribbons so in the center, because we have that one good side, one bad side, we're gon na have to pinch and twist now. What that's gon na do is, on the other side, also, on the left hand, side of the middle of our bow. It'S going to twist the good side to face down, because if we just continued back and forth without twisting we're going to have a good side and a bad side and a good side, then i lay my finger down just at the end of the bow to Kind of measure just a little bit of a bigger bow than the one we had or loop than we had previously, and then i take that back. I find my center squish and twist, which will create that ribbon to twist and the good side to once again face down so you'll see here. My good side is facing down again and then the bad side or the dull side is facing up, and i always want to make sure my ribbons are all lined up before i flip them over such that everything is nice and neat and again we're doing that. Flip with measuring with my finger and then you find that center and you twist and really you just continue on until you're happy with the amount of loops that you have. I think i have maybe i think i used about, let's say seven feet of the entire roll and then the two fitting at the end you'll see later on, i use those two feet for uh four tails for making four tails. But here we go. I continue on and continue on and now i'm coming to the end. So i find my center. I grab my scissors gon na cut the ribbon, but i want to make sure that when i have the pipe cleaner in the center that it's grabbing onto this, so i just leave a little bit excess of the center. Does that make sense such that your pipe cleaner is going to attach in the center? So you want to make sure that loop is included and the first loop as well, that little tail and that first loop, because you want everything to be attached and then i just squish the center put it in between my pinky finger or my pinky. My index finger add that twist tie or pipe cleaner, give it a good couple of twists make sure nothing's going to go, and then i just kind of even it out a little bit, because there was a little bit of a fold there. I'M just going to take that out and i'm going to lay it down with the good side facing down again and with my excess ribbon. I am going to just fold it in half to find my center and i'm going to cut that and that's going to give me four beautiful tails that are nice. And even and of course, if you want to make two tails that are longer than two other tails, that's perfectly fine. That'S up to you and i always love dovetailing my ribbons, where you just fold it in half good side facing out cut on an angle and that's going to create a beautiful dovetail, i'm just going to finish those off and then we'll move on once the dovetails Are all cut i'm going to lay them down good side facing down again and i'm going to alternate the pattern. So i have the swirlies. I have the chevron, then i can have another swirly. Then i'm going to put another chevron right on top and to make it easy to find my center. I'M just going to fold it in half find that center and then i'm just going to squish it all together and i'm going to give it a really good bend. Now these are wire ribbons, so they pretty much hold once you bend them, because i want the tails to pop down. When i put it into my bow - and i'm just going to put it right in between those two pipe cleaners and give it another good twist and now our bow is ready to be transformed. All you have to do is grab your loops, open them up, and now we have two ribbons in each loop, so you can separate them open them up, fluff it all up and, like i said in my other video, i did do another video showing you how To do the same style of ribbon only using one rib or same style bow only using one ribbon, so i'll link that in the top right hand corner as well, but i could fluff four hours. I can open these and play around with the loops for hours. I just get lost and it's like my own little tranquil space. I guess, but here we are, with our double ribbon, bow ready for your wreath, ready to hang on the door ready to hang on your lamps on your presents. Whatever you want, we have a beautiful double ribbon, bow am going to be using two and a half inch wired ribbon today and everything else that you're going to need is really simple. It'S a ruler, a pair of scissors and a pipe cleaner or some floral wire. That'S totally fine, just something to tie everything together and that's all you're going to need. I'M going to start by placing my ruler down on my table, i'm going to grab my wired ribbon again. It'S two and a half inches wired ribbon and i'm going to cut it at 17 inches for each piece so for this wired ribbon and for this little mini bundle that i call it i'm just going to do 17 inches and i'm going to cut five strips At that 17 inch mark now, if you want longer tails go longer, if you want more bundles or loops cut more, but today i'm going to do a five loop, mini bundle bow and once i've got my strips cut, i'm just going to finish them off by Folding them over with the good side facing out and giving a dovetail now, if you want a deeper dovetail, you do more of an angle. Less of a deep dovetail do less of an angle, but i, like my dovetails to be a little bit deep. So i do do a little bit of a steep angle there and you can see there's my beautiful dovetails all finished off and i'm going to do that for both ends on all of my strips. So i have dovetails completely done for five of my strips and that's just going to finish it off on both ends and i like to see you know the dovetails on both ends and once i'm finished that i'm just going to get rid of my scraps tidy Up my workspace and continue on so here i bring my ruler back out and i put my good side facing down and i have about 17 inches after the dove's tail. This one here is about 16 and what i'm going to do is i'm going to fold it over and come to the 12 inch mark with my other side and that's gon na leave about a four and a half five inch loop there and then i'm just Going to come in a little bit and squish it in the middle, and what i want to make sure is, is that other tail coming down is within that pinch and that's where the pipe cleaner is going to go so the loop's not going to come apart. So again, folding it over to the 12 inch mark at about the 11 inch mark, i'm gon na squish in the center, and then i'm just gon na put it in between my two fingers for now and see that little one inch overlap there just to make Sure, when i put that pipe cleaner on my bow doesn't come apart, so you do not have to do dovetails um for both ends. If you don't want to, you, can just do it for the exposed end. If you want, or if you don't like the dovetails, you can leave it totally straight. That'S totally up to you. The pattern on your ribbon is up to you. This is just my method of doing a little mini bundle bow with this particular ribbon and, of course, i love this ribbon, who doesn't love the white polka dots on the burlap right? Well, maybe some people - i don't know, i just love how it looks so there we go. I'M doing my last piece and it's created a little bundle. That'S why i call it a bundle, bow and with my pipe cleaner, i'm just going to come in there and i'm going to just twist it around making sure that all the ribbon is in there nice and secure give it a couple of good twists. Make sure it's nice and secure, then we can kind of fluff it up a little bit, and this is one of my little addictions. I guess you would call it or i love fluffing up ribbon. I don't know why i could do it for hours and hours when i edit videos, literally i'm sitting there, maybe for 15, 20 minutes fluffing up a bow, but anyways here we go. We are all finished doing our little mini bundle ribbon with five little loops. It'S just so cute so easy to make, and yet the statement at the end is just a wow factor. Here'S another one that i created. These were, i think, about 20 inches long, there's nine loops, so there's nine pieces and i just wanted to show you what a difference you know ribbon style looks like with more loops. This was my winter themed wreath that i did a couple of weeks ago, but it's basically got the same. Little bundle bow on there, so i just wanted to show you a different style and here's the one we did today in all of its glory. I just love how these bundle bows look with all of the tails and the loops, and i hope you did as well bow number one. I have this craft ribbon that i got from the local dollar store and it's about a half an inch, maybe just a smidgen bit more in width and what i'm going to do is i'm just going to grab my ruler for two seconds and i'm going to Measure out my ribbon length, which is going to be for this one 14 inches. So i'm going to find my 14 inch mark grab my scissors and i'm just going to cut that ribbon and that's what we're going to be using to make our tiny ribbon bow. Now, here's the tools you're going to need today your hands, that's it more specifically, these two fingers and your thumb and what we're gon na do with the ribbon is i'm gon na lay it down on my fingers right where the crease is, and i'm gon na Hold my thumb down, give it a little bit of pressure, so it doesn't move. Then we're going to wrap that ribbon around the index finger and then around your middle finger and then i'm just going to slightly hold that piece with my thumb again, i'm just going to slip it underneath. So again, the ribbon is wrapped around your two fingers and then i'm just going to hold it with my thumb and there's a little space right below the ribbon and you're gon na put the ribbon right through there. Pull that through and that's gon na create a little loop right here and what we're gon na do is we're gon na fold the ribbon over top and then we're gon na come underneath that loop that we just created we're gon na grab that end and then Once you grab the end, you're gon na pull it nice and tight and that's going to create the center of your bow. And then you just slip that off your fingers. If i can get it off and we have a nice little bow with a couple of tails right at the end, and i'm just going to take my scissors and just cut it at an angle and that's going to finish my little bow off. How pretty is that this is great for presents, or you could use these in your hair if you want or your daughter's hair or whoever's hair, but there you go a little ribbon and of course you can do this in different colors. I did this one with a dovetail and then this one was a reverse dovetail, but there you have it. A single tiny ribbon bow how cute move on to bow number. Two again, i'm going to take the same ribbon that i had previously and then this is just a white ribbon as well. I'M going to cut those to 14 inches and i'm going to use the same method that we did before. So i have the gray ribbon on top of the beige ribbon again you're holding it down with your thumb, you're gon na loop, it around your index finger loop, it around that middle finger and then hold it again with your thumb and then right in that opening Is where you're going to push through those two ribbons and with the double ribbons you want to make sure you're pushing both of them through? If one falls out, you can just feed it through. It doesn't really matter and again we're creating that nice little loop at the bottom, where our thumb is and then we're going to wrap that ribbon around it between our fingers and through the bottom of that loop right there. So again, we're just gon na feed it through and once we have both of them we're gon na hold it tight and pull that's going to create that knot in the center and, of course, you're seeing me here, i'm tying it really tight getting it stuck on. My fingers again, but when we're done, we just pull apart the ribbons. The two different colors and our double ribbon bow is coming to life, and now we have four tails at the bottom. So i'm just gon na cut those to length and then i'm just gon na finish them off with a nice little dovetail. Actually, i should say: reverse dovetail. Sorry, i don't know if they call it a reverse dovetail to be honest, it's kind of like a triangle at the end, a little point at the end i normally do dovetails, but i kind of like this little reverse dovetail is what i'm calling it for now At the bottom, it kind of adds a little it's a little bit different, and i like it, why not right, but there you go once you're done. You have your little double ribbon and, of course here i am playing with it because the tails aren't working. For me, they keep overlapping each other, so i keep playing with it over and over again just leave it alone dave, but there you have it here is our double ribbon: bow nice and tiny, and again great for presents hair or whatever you need a little bow For and you can do it in different colors as well bow number three and this one's my favorite one to do. I'M gon na be honest with you. This one is my favorite, so i have one piece of gray ribbon here and this measures 28 inches. So again, we're using our two fingers. Lay it across hold it down with your thumb and then this time you're going to loop. It underneath your index finger, wrap it around loop it in between and then you kind of lay it across hold it with that thumb, and it's the same method as before. You just push that ribbon through that's going to create a little loop at the bottom right. Where your thumb is, and then you're going to take that ribbon and you're just going to push it through the bottom of that loop like i've, shown right there, so we're just going to pull it through make sure the ribbon is in between your two fingers before You pull it and then you pull it nice and tight, which creates your center and then it's going to create all those beautiful little bows and again i tied it too tight. I can't get it off my fingers, but once it's off, i'm gon na cut my tails again and i had a lot of extra, so i'm just gon na keep that for another craft or another bow, and you can just see here, i'm splitting them apart. Taking a look at it, and now i'm going to dovetail the ends of these tails here it just finishes it off and adds a little something to it. Of course, i have very big hands so doing these ribbons and everything that are so small. You can see me fiddling around with it trying to get it done. I had to go back and redo the first one because it wasn't uh didn't work out properly, but in the end i got it. I got my dovetails all ready and my cute little double ribbon bow with two tails. Like i said this one is my absolute favorite. I just love how this one turns out all the time, and i hope you try it too. So we have our double ribbons and then we have our two different kinds of ribbon as a double ribbon and we did our single ribbon today, all three of them using one tool, our hands, that's it. I have two and a half inch wire ribbon and this ribbon i just purchased on my local michaels, it's wired ribbons, so you can see the wires at the end there and all i'm going to do to start off is i'm going to cut some 20 inch Pieces of that ribbon so again this is two and a half inch wired ribbon and all i'm going to do is cut at 20 inches. So my ruler isn't 20 inches long. So i'm going to take the 17 inch mark, bring it down. Add an additional three inches and that's going to give me a length of 20 inches in total, and you can use any two and a half inch ribbon for this that you want. I prefer the wired ribbon. I think it holds up a little bit nicer. It holds up its shape, but you can use any pattern color that you want that's totally fine. I have cut four 20 inch pieces and one 10 inch piece for this. So again, it's four 20 inch lengths and one 10 inch length and what i'm going to do is i'm going to take my first 20 inch length and i'm just going to put a little stripe of hot glue right at the very end, i'm going to flip That over and then i'm going to bring that other piece close together, overlap it and glue it down. So, there's about maybe a quarter of an inch to a half, an inch overlap there with that glue, and that creates our first loop, and this is my second one i'll show you again how i've done it just a line of hot glue, folding it over at The end and at the other end bring the two together and that's going to create a nice little seal to put the two sides together and we're going to create a little loop with that and there's your seal or your seam face down sorry and then i'm Just going to make sure that seams in the middle and i'm just going to fold it down, i'm going to do the same thing for the second piece my seam is facing down, and i'm just going to put that on a little bit of an angle. To my first piece that i laid down so my first piece is at like zero degrees, this one's maybe at 30 45 degrees, something like that and again with my third piece. I'M going to do it on the opposite side, create an angle, so i'm creating a little star shaped here and with my 10 inch piece, that's glued as well. I'M going to put that right in the center. So that's going to be our center loop and i'm just going to pick that up for you, i'm going to show you what it looks like on the side there. So you can see so the other pieces are flat and that middle one is still got that circular form that loop form and now i'm just going to pinch it in the middle. It makes it a little bit easier for my pipe cleaner to go around. I'M going to grab the pipe cleaner feed it through that center loop and then i'm just going to flip it over and give it a couple of good twists. Now you can use pipe cleaners or you can use floral wire or any other. You know gauge of wire that you want. I just have an abundance of pipe cleaner, so i use those and you can kind of start seeing our bow taking shape now and we're not done. We still have one of the 20 inch pieces left over. So this is my fourth and final piece, and what i'm going to use this for is the tail, and i am just going to cut at an angle on the ends to create those beautiful dovetail ends just to finish the tail off. Of course, this is not mandatory. It'S totally up to you. If you want to do a dovetail, i always love finishing it off with a dovetail, and then i'm just going to lay that down, find my center squish that in the center with my fingers, give it a little bend and then i'm gon na put that right. In between the two pipe cleaners right there and give it a little twist - and that is our casual bow and now the final step and my favorite step if you've watched my channel before you know, i love to fluff up bows. It'S like an ocd thing with me. I guess i don't know, but i love doing it. I spend a lot of time doing it so we'll just fast forward through all of my fluffing here, but you can see i'm just fluffing it all up and we have our beautiful casual bow all finished in this amazing colored gingham ribbon. I just love how this turned out and, of course this could be used for wreaths doors. Anything that you want presents it's a really great and easy bow to make you
