How To Sew Anime Cosplay/Christmas Style Bows

Hello Everyone!

The material inside the bow is called interfacing. You can use fusible or non-fusible interfacing.

Bows are super easy to make. You can make them any size, colour and patterns you like.

Front Chest Bow (like in this video)

- Cut 1: 7.5" x 24" (large main part)

- Cut 1: 4.5" x 2" (small center part)

- Cut 1 interfacing: 14" x 3.5" (with a small angle on the edges)

- Cut 1: 14" x 7" (with a small angle on the edges)

Have fun with it!

Let me know if you have nay more questions,

Thanks, I really appreciate your time,

Sasa

I'M gon na show you how to make these kind of bows and really pretty eh, I'm making a whole bunch of these. For my Sailor, Moon outfits - and so you can't find specific, colors and sizes to make yourself they're, actually very simple, to make and they're really easy. You can make them of any sizes. What you want you can put safety pins in the back here and then pin them to your clothes to your shirts to your bags. Let me make some for your hair. So that's! These are the finished ones here, I'm going to show a like sample how to make one okay, so the bow is made up of mainly two pieces. This is just extra trim right. So here's the main piece you want to get the interfacing and you want the fabric to be a little bit larger. Just use cut everything with pinking shears, there's no point in doing the hem, making it so perfect. As you don't see it, and these items don't get washed right, so nothing bad will happen till my wounded like straight and stuff. So this is like this you're going to fold this over and you're going to sew straight along here, okay and then this would be on this side too. Once that is done, you fold this, and then you attach this seam right here and then you'll have a tube. So once you turn that inside out it will look like this. This is just bigger, so you look. Here'S the interfacing. This has been sewn down. So this is the main large tube, okay, so the size of your bow. Okay, this distance see this is the tube right there, so, depending on, if you want a bigger, so you made the two larger. If you want a wider, this can be also longer as well. Okay, so that's the main shape for the secondary piece. This piece down here. This can be super long. This doesn't have to have an angle. It can be cut straight. It can be a lot thinner. There are many different variations, it's all up to you of what you want to design what to do. So. I have a little slight angle so once again here, so you have this kind of like this shape like this. This is the also the interfacing you need. The interfacing like very come, see, look. This is like paper. If not, or else the ball won't be very steps. You look at look. It'S very stiff, buk, buk, buk, buk, right, okay. So this piece here like this - you want to base this down first, so it doesn't move right. Then go like this fold, this in half you're, going to sew along this edge and on this edge. You want to leave a little opening here, so you can flip this piece inside out. Okay, so this has been done right here. Okay, you can see that there's some stitching right along here, because we left a hole open here to pull this inside out. So that's this piece. The final little piece see this is just no point for interfacing. For this, it's just a black fabric, a little thing. You fold this half fold it again. Okay, now with this little strip, you're, so straight, and so straight. So just do a little box around this piece, we'll cover up and hold the bow together and give it a nice finish. So that's what this piece is here see see. This piece is the piece that wraps around the bow like I'm going to assemble this piece for you, so take the boat, try and get this joint be in the center. Like this. Okay, now we're going to fold, you want the edges to be folded on the inside okay, so they have to be folded in this way. If they fold outwards, you're going to be able to see the hole right here see how they're folded inside this goes to the backwards. So you don't see the whole tape so fold, um gathering the bow here. You want to make sure the check that both sides are fairly even and well adresses. You can adjust adjust this make sure this parts folded back right because look if this was the front, you could see this edges and you could see the underside right. So it's the front, you just get a piece of string and then tie it tight. So just get your next piece and you want to do the same similar around. I think you find the halfway point. So it's about there and this you're going to scrunch up as well. Just like this attach this to the bow. I'M going to make sure that, like these two edges here line up that are fairly even so, just adjust this once you're happy with the placements, and this is nice, get this string. Take this to the front side, and you can tie this on. Okay. So after you tied this on in the string and it's adjusted to how you like you, can just clip this thread, I'm going to take this little strip here and wrap this around. That way, it looks nice and clean so from on the backside. What you're going to do, and this part you have to do by hand you take a needle and you're going to need a thimble. Yes, my thimble looks funny it's a Chinese one, whatever um, so it's just so right here in the bag, so go in and out in and out and then make this nice and tight, and I like to leave this little part hanging out because that way you Can use safety pins and you can pin this out so and also you put pins on over here just to pin it where you want. So you can cut this off if you want - and you can also fold this down to sew it down. It'S perfectly up to you, but I like to leave this okay, so that's the finished bow I like the good things they're so pretty so I hope you learned something and now you know how to make your own bows and have fun with it. Thank you very much for watching

Zoe Kowlaczyk: First of all, Awesome tutorial! It saved my butt. Though I would like to say that when you go and make the little strip for the middle part, using the zipper foot attachment is a ton of help. You get super close to the edge and it doesnt make the fabric go all wonky, also it looks really nice when its done!

WildfireAMV: Ahh thanks so much for this! I was wondering how to make one for a cosplay this way because tying the bow looks too messy. :D

be.an_phan: Thanks!! This tutorial helped me big time because it's exactly what I needed for Chuunibyou's Rikka cosplay!  I don't like the quality of the bow that I bought so I'm making my own :D

Holly Bennett: Awesome tutorial! I want to make a Sakura Card Captor outfit and this should be perfect <3 Was wondering what material you used? I'm an utter novice when it comes to that kinda stuff ): And where can I get that paper-ish... stuff... =p

isabelle: Awesome I'll use this for my sailor neptune cosplay!

Elizabeth Maravilla: Very helpful , Thank you :)

Sasa Time: The material for the bow is called broadcloth or poly cotton, it's cheap, stiff and easy to work with, you can find the paper-ish stuff (interfacing) at a fabric store, just ask for it, they will know what it is

sashagirl1013: Great tutorial!! I'm making curtains/Valences for my grandbaby's nursery and was looking for a LARGE bow tutorial to add. I have a ?, on the long "tail" piece, do I need to fold over the edge of the actual fabric, over the interfacing, before I sew the 3 edges together, or does it matter? I hope you understand what I'm asking, haha! (I'm pretty new to sewing and what I do know is self taught, haha!)

Sasa Time: I used plain broadcloth, but you can use almost any fabric you like as long as it doesn't stretch or is too heavy.

Marie S: Omg this is EXACTLY what I needed. I'm making SO many hairbow for Christmas with scrap fabric!

Pauline Hutchins: Thank you - loved your instructions.....:)

Kuraiko Sarana: Great tutorial! What have you used for interfacing?

susu: using this for my lolita dress! thank you <3

Sisters Daily - Candace Clarke: absolutely perfect tutorial!!

powd: This is a pretty nice tutorial!! :> I might be using this tut for making a faux obi knot (it looks a lot like a chocho musubi/butterfly knot! i was thinking of making a chocho musubi for the obi) for a modified yukata cosplay in the future.

Emily Mc: Thank you so much this is amazing! Would you be able to make a maid cosplay lace like head band tutorial?

Beverly Serrano: What are the measurements for the larger bows? Please and thank you ❤️❤️

Anya: Thank you~ I tied a little of my hair back and stuck the bow onto it. And I found out that you should make the bow's width a bit larger since it'll be gathered and ended up a bit smaller. I want to show a pic but youtube doesn't allow links ><

Sasa Time: Try using a stiff fabric, or you could use felt (although that might be a little heavy) You can also use normal paper, but be gentle and make sure it doesn't get wet.

Glitter Em: Yes, I needed this for my sailor moon cosplay!!

Mamasita33: Very nice. Thanks :)

Elynor Kamil: Great tutorial! I'm trying to make a bow for a Final Fantasy VII Aerith cosplay. Do you have any tips about making the ends of the top part of the bow pointy instead of straight/slightly rounded? Thanks! :)

Anya: This will help me make my Aya cosplay~ Thankyou! I'm just worried if the interfacing won't be strong enough to hold the bow up

Kennedy Mihailoff: What type of fabric did you use for the bows in the video? (if you remember) Or, does it not really matter what kind you use?

Juliette Alexis: hello! i know you get this asked a lot, but, what are your measurements to the bow?? i really like it and i need to for my alois trancy cosplay. also, great tutorial btw <3

Sasa Time: Make sure to buy the really stiff interfacing, then you won't have any problems.

Sasa Time: Oh, that's a very good tip, Thank you.

T- Racy: I love the way you done the bows, I have to make bows for brides maid's dresses with longer ribbon my question is I have to use satin would this still look good.
