As a wavy wonder, i ride the struggle bus when it comes to volume for whatever reason, so today you and i will be testing out for the first time the curl keeper clips hey. There guys welcome back to my channel. Let'S have a fun wavy, curly, hair experiment together, shall we, i am all about easy, breezy, beautiful covergirl, wait wrong thing. I am all about keeping it easy and simple and effective, like minimum effort for maximum value is my goal and i have tried root clipping in the past. I hate it. I hate root clipping. It hurts i rip out hair every single time. I always try so hard and spend so much time getting these tiny little alligator clips clipped in all the right places in my hair just to have them pull on my hair, while they're in my hair and then when i take them out. They go ahead and rip out hair and my hair doesn't have that much volume anyway. After all that trouble, so i have had my eye on these curl keeper clips for forever and just never allowed myself to try them ps. I do work with curl keeper, but this video is not sponsored. I purchased these myself so without further ado, let's run into my bathroom and we'll get to testing out these clips and see if they're worth it, if they're good, if they do actually increase the volume in my incredibly grown out, heavy in desperate need of a haircut Hair, why hello? Oh? Why am i the way i am? I do not know hi, okay. I am just about ready to kick off this experiment and i'm scared. Here we are here's the equipment. I did just wash and style. My hair, i used the exact same stylers that i used in the previous video, so we are having some consistent elements here, and this is how my hair turned out. So this is our baseline. This is our control of how much volume i get in my hair with these stylers in this haircut. I am getting my hair cut tomorrow, so this is the last day. I can literally do this experiment, because when you get a haircut, it changes the volume all right, i'm just stalling. At this point, i have plopped my hair and i'm about to diffuse all right, we're just gon na breeze right through this got my air pods in micro, plopped and now we're diffusing. I'Ve been playing around with different hair dryers lately, but i am using the same hair dryer that i used in the previous wash day all right doing lots of pixie diffusing hanging upside down. Looking at my phone and listening to podcasts, maybe i was watching youtube videos. I don't remember anyway, i love how fast this is going. I wish it went this fast in real life all right. I was just sitting here diffusing and realizing that i made poor choices in today's video filming. While this is the last day that i can do this with this haircut, i also am running out of time and have to go run errands. So now that my hair is 90 dry, i'm gon na put these clips in, but i don't have. Oh, that's so loud one minute: okay, i don't have time to sit and allow my hair to air dry in the cast like i normally do all right. Let me make sure i'm not making a big mistake: directions after scrunching or any curl enhancing techniques, pile hair on top of head and secure with a roller clamp. Some styles require only a few clamps while others require symbol, clamps allow to air dry or diffuse. Okay. So i can dry my hair with these in it. That was the piece of information i needed. Okay, how the heck am i going to put these in normally? I part my hair on this side, while it's drying, let's see how bad my cowlick is in the back of my head. Let'S see we'll see where are you guys? Okay, you guys can see. Well, of course, today my cowlick isn't completely horrendous, but we're just gon na clip over the cowlick, all right all right and we're gon na clip over this cowlick. Okay, that feels promising. That feels good. That feels like root, lift accomplished now right here, we're pretty flat. So i'm going to no no disagree, yes, yes that lifted it up. Okay and then this actually has pretty good root, lift, but i'm flat right there. So, let's see, oh, oh, oh, lift clip that's voluminous and then right there is all lifted. I feel good about this. I feel good. Now i'm going to hover diffuse fingers crossed until my hair is 100 dry, and then we can scrunch out the crunch and see if these clips made my hair more voluminous than the last time i washed and styled with these stylers just getting my air pods back In because that's essential to my sanity, while i diffuse so i'm not really pixie diffusing while using the clips, i am mainly hover diffusing, but i am kind of picking up my hair scooping it with my hand. I am noticing some frizz, which is why i don't normally diffuse my hair past 90 dry. It just keeps getting frizzier on me, but overall this is going quite well and yeah. I got ta get out the door okay. I am now 100 dry that went way faster than i thought it was going to ah - and these are so easy to remove and look it's like keeping the volume where i clipped it and my roots are really dry. It like lifted the roots up so that more air could circulate okay. This is promising, since my hair is 100 dry, i'm going to scrunch out the crunch and reveal these results. Okay, are you ready, also p.s same amount of cast as last time? So, even though i kind of diffused slightly differently than last time, i think our variables are remaining the same, because the hair feels the same level of cast. I hope that makes sense root. Fluff. Alright, now i'm going to park my hair on the opposite side as per normal whoa whoa, okay, initial first impression: yeah, there's more volume. This is definitely more voluminous, especially here. This is where i struggle the most. Let me turn around and show you the back. So it's wonderful to have volume right after diffusing, but the real test is going to be letting this settle wearing this for a little bit to see if it has more volume than normal. So i will be back after this is settled after i've, worn this hair for a little bit and we'll see what the volume is looking like, then all righty. Here we are many many hours later and many errands later yeah. I was totally running late for my appointment. I picked up a nail in my tire and it was slow leaking and i had to go get that fixed and that's why i was rushed earlier, but i got ta say this: hair turned out so good. If you watched last week's video you'll know that rayleen is the one that recommended the styling combo and i've got ta say i am loving it. I might just be reaching for this combo. A lot cannot wait to try out some more of y'all's recommendations. So if you're not - and you want to follow me on instagram and feel free to dm me, your routine, if you think it's bomb and needs to be shared with the world, i will share it for you i'll, try it out and demo it and share it Anyway, this is the volume we are having. I do have really silky roots. This is a term coined by the lovely atoya bass i believe over on instagram and it's it causes me to have flat hair. So that being said hold on. I think this piece is supposed to be over here or was over here earlier today. Hold on i'm looking in the viewfinder. Pardon me this is the volume we're getting with the pieces where they were earlier. There is a lot less volume, it is what it is, but do we think there is more volume more root, lift than previously compare the two give me your thoughts comment down below. Give me your thoughts. What do you think did no root clips? Have more volume, less volume or the same volume as using the root clips? I do have to say of all the root clips i have ever tried. I love these. I can use these the ones that are like the little alligator clips that people clip in their hair. I always always wind up ripping out some of my hair and to be fair to these poor clips. I tried today i tried them in a rush, but if we're being honest, my life is one great big long rush right now, so i mean it's a pretty accurate representation of how i would use the clips, and i liked them - i'm gon na start incorporating them Into my routine way, more often now there is one last thing i want to do before we go, and that is my five second frizz and volume hack. It'S not really my hack, it's something that i've seen hundreds of wavy curly people do. But let's see can we get up close and personal. You know what this isn't fair, because i'm not very frizzy. This styling combo really keeps the frizz to an absolute minimum, so this hack isn't gon na fix the frizz, but it is gon na fix the volume. So here's the five second hack are you all ready? Are you ready here we go see a little bit a little bit a little bit more volume, all right guys. That is it for this video. I will continue to play around with these clips. Like i said before and figure out, if there's a better way to clip them in my hair today, we were just comparing them to the previous wash day, trying to keep all the variables as close as possible. You know parting, my hair on the opposite side clipping diffusing same stylers. I think you'll get the idea, but there may be a better way to use the clips that i will discover with playing around with them more. I wanted to make sure and test them out on this hair because i'm getting a haircut tomorrow. Thank goodness. I need one so badly all that being said, i hope you are having an absolutely fantastic day and i will talk to y'all later bye. That was the most awkward like wave. I'Ve ever done. What were my fingers doing? I don't know i'm gon na go drink. Some more coffee, y'all have a good day.

Julie Bruce: I think both looked the same. Would like to see you try them when your hair is wet before you diffused like the directions said

Michelle Cannon: I'm with you, courtney. I have those little metal clips and they always snag my hair. Love the volume you got with these.

Meiries.curly.journey: I just cut off like 5 inches of mine last week and I feel so much better, I hope you feel better after your cut!

Dree Sexton: I do a very similar technique but with the small, not the tiny, Goody claw clips. I've tried the Curl Keeper clips but find I have more control and get better volume using small claw clips. Plus I can leave them in while my hair air dries and can still run errands without looking too weird...lol. I also use the small claw clips to protect my curls and volume at night.

Jenn Leah: I've been using claw clips for awhile now (the other types snagged my hair too), & it has helped immensely! It usually lasts a solid 48 hours, sometimes 72 if I'm lucky! But I put them in closer to like 75-80% dry, & I spritz it with hair spray. (Innersense I create finish usually, sometimes bounce curl's hairspray). It helps give the roots some grit, which fine hair usually needs to maintain any root lift. I've been wanting to try the curl keeper clamps myself, I think I'm going to get them

Tina Converse: So glad to have found you! I’m starting my wavy healthy hair journey today. Gleaning info from all your things and putting it to practice. I must say though, that the best is that you are unashamed to boldly share that you are a Christian mama ❤️

sbr141213: I’ve been soo curious about these clips but have yet to see a wavy try them so I’m definitely looking forward to your results and opinions!

K FitzRandolph: Those clips look amazing!! I’ve tried the alligator clips and have the same problem with pulling and tearing hair out. I can’t wait to see your hair after your cut

Kris Shue: I just tried root clipping and I think it really helped. I used small claw clips. I put them in when I was almost done diffusing. I have fine 3A curly hair but it sometimes falls flat on top.

Silvia Patillo: I like the volume they gave you! Been wanting to try something similar, but my hair gets frizzy so easily, I feel like it would give me that halo frizz I usually air dry my hair so I will use clips to keep the hair out of my face while it’s drying (it breaks me out), but they leave dents in my hair so I feel like these would be much better! Thank you for sharing - silvipea

Patty DeCosta: I have been wanting to try them! Tks for the video♥️. I can see root volume for sure in the crown and for sure in the front. I can’t believe how easy the clips came out of your hair. I don’t root clip as often as I should because I too rip hair out when removing clips. It looks great!

Maura Migliore: I have curly/wavy hair just like you, and I have the Curl Keeper clips and absolutely love them! It definitely is trial & error the best way to use them tho. After watching a few YT videos, I put them in before I diffuse, and take them out after my hair is 100% dry and then scrunch out the cast. They've been a total game changer for me!

Lorna Dietz: I think you’re supposed to apply the root clips before you start to dry.

Regina Rooks: I use those clips. They are great especially for the front top section.

rbp 62: I actually do root clip but I tried to do it like you did in the video and what a difference it made for me. Can’t wait to see your new haircut

Traci Wheeler: Love mine and they work great for sectioning short layers too.

D Ebner: Hey Courtney! I just have to say that I think your hair is just so lovely now! I've just been watching you about 1 1/2 yrs & I never seen your hair so long. Since I started watching you & taking care of my wavy/curly hair, I've been letting it grow. I know I need to get it cut, to fix the hack job I did, trying to do a deva cut. I just wish I knew about this 30 yrs ago! I'm now 56 yrs young & I know of some people think that I should get it cut short bc they say long hair makes us look older. I'm enjoying my hair for the 1st time in my life. Maybe I'll get a shorter (shoulder length) when I'm 60. You know, I've been looking at those clip for a while, too & debating whether or not to get them. I think you may have convinced me to get them, even though I did just get a bunch of those Deva clips. They seem to work well for me, but like you, I like things as simple as can be. So thank you.

Whitney Long: I haven’t tried these, but would love to! I struggle with root volume most wash days!

QuickSilverHair: Your hair did exactly what mine does…silky root issue…volume loss as the hair pulls it down through the day. You might try a volume spray after you remove the clips. A Simple Planet makes one. But those clips seem amazing, I’ve had several people tell me about them. Hmm…

Maddy Coulter: I’ve tried the clips and find they work for wash day but my hair is notorious for falling afterwards- all the joy

Mandi Wolfe: I use cheap knock offs of these and put them in when my hair is still wet right after putting in products, and leave them in until fully dry. I've done both diffusing and just air drying and they work very well!

Tree of Life Bath and Beauty: Looked good at first but lost the volume pretty fast.

Laura B: Thanks for the video Courtney. Will have to try this on one of my wash days

Jonathan Teixeira: I would say yes. I got them a couple months ago and only used them once and like your self I used the metal ones first and too had the ripping results. I too need a cut badly . And I think with those clips the volume will look great with more body

Karen Reams: How about using these clamps and either before or after removing them, use Bounce Curl’s no alcohol hairspray? I’ve tried the spray, it does give some good lift and hold, and I have fine wavy hair similar to yours, Courtney

KathleenKC1: I am not a fan of those metal clips either. I would definitely try those. I think it does give a bit of extra volume.

Deb S: Supper excited to try these! I have lots of volume in the lengths but that pulls it flat at the roots. Thanks! dsim123

Deb Murray: Ha! When I saw the thumbnail, I had to tell you that clipping my roots is how I guarantee they will stay lifted. Fyi, I always air dry my hair. ... I have fine 2a,b,c shoulder-length hair. My hair never rips with large claw clips but always rips with other types of "no pull" clips especially the metal ones. ... Your hair has slightly more volume with clips.

Lindsay Cox: I honestly like the clips better. I've never tried root clips before but might have too.

renee vasconcellos: I use those clips most nights. I clip my hair on top of my head in four sections, then put on my bonnet. It’s the only way my curls will last.

goldie: I think the results looked the same, but if they don't snag your hair when taking them out, use them!

WavyHairCareBlog: I have only tried root clipping with the alligator clips and like you, found them to be a lot of hassle for little benefit ad they ripped my hair sometimes. I have a cowlick in the back of my head like you do but I don't usually think about it and just leave it be.

Charlie Severson: For the alligator clips, put gel on the clip before putting it in your hair. Comes out clean with no ripping for me.

Cathy Nelson: My hair get's soo flat in top. I'm going to try this, I think they gave you volume for sure!

Raylene Tormanen: Ok I have the same issue with the alligator clips and I always have to use them bc I have similar issues with flat hair…. And I always pull hair out! I need to get these curl clips!!! I think the front is the same in both, but the volume in the back is improved with the clips, I think!! Thanks for testing these out for us! ♥️ Also LOVE that you are loving my product lineup!!

Caitlemony: I have tried root clipping with what I have on hand and agree they can be painful and don’t seem to help much. These look interesting.

Gummy: What’s the difference between these and regular claw clips?

M K: I wish I could get more root volume!

Whitney Knight: Just wanted to ask about that hair dryer. It’s huge! What brand is it?

Starzee: I need to try these on my fine hair. Love your channel! Akstraz

Christy Price: I've never tried root lifting by using clips, probably because I want to just do my regular routine and be done with it. It's kind of tiring doing what I do daily.

Paris Richie: Dang I wish mine were easy to remove. The edges are not smooth on the pack I got and they snag my hair so bad :( I reached out to Curl Keeper they said no returns or exchanges on accessories!

Anna Wolden: Not a lot of difference. But since it was a first try… like all of this, time will really tell if you keep using them.

Theresa: I have such tangle prone hair those metal ones make mine a mess. I’d love to try that kind. They didn’t even pull.

susana lloyd: Welllll...definitely more volume at the beginning but I thought they looked the same by the end of the day BUT I don't think you compared to the end of the day of the 1st hair day, didn't you compare to your result following wash & dry of the previous (no clip) hair day?? I hope that makes sense.

Tami P: I hate the silver metal clips too. I will have to give these a try! Suej490

AquaSunPiscesMoon: The directions stated to pile hair on top of your head then secure... I wonder what the difference (if any would be) if you applied per the directions?

gaffercat: I think I'm going to order them. My hair is thick and heavy and a moist scalp isn't helping my seb derm either.

Maria Larsson: I do not have the time to look right now - but I will surely look later this evening Update from maria.tygis, those might be the things I need come winter, because right now I get too warm in the summer heat and I do believe that more volume would give even more warmth to my head

Tamara Ramsey: What's the difference between these and claw clips? Either way, I don't see much difference.

Curl Keeper: Look at those CURLS! Thanks Courtney!

Fifi: I have just discovered your channel and I’m so glad I did. You are so pretty and so is your hair. Loved how your hair turned out. You have the most beautiful blue eyes. What make and colour eyeshadow do you have on and do you have any videos where you show how you put your make- up on. That colour really makes your eyes pop. Thanks. Fiona. X

Kimberley Chavelle: I think you have a little more volume now. I want to try the clips I have some rounded clips but they pull my hair out

Megan Whitney: Ohh! And less clips too!! Excited to try these! Itsmeganwhitney

Angela: It’s beautiful! ❤

Chrystal Thornton: Your hair looks curlier than it used to. Do you think pregnancy enhanced the curl?

NursedrO: Yes, more volume with those clips.

Lindsey Falkanger: PSA: Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee is on Zulily today!!!

Marleen G.: I never used duckbill clips, always regular claw clips, and now someone got that idea off of the internet and marketed it? Oh great. LOL!

Meiries.curly.journey: I think there was a good difference in the beginning but the two looks look about the same in comaprison

Faye Berman: Honest to goodness I’m not sure I can tell a difference, certainly not by the end of the day.

Bennie Maine: I like the root clips.

Beautiful Soul: I think it added a slight light but not by much. I tried to follow Courtney on Instagram and it states that, “this user doesn’t exist” Does anyone know why this could be? Would love to follow her again as I thought I was still following her on there…

Tracy: I’ve never added something to my Amazon cart so fast.

Kamellia Middeke: I love you channel!!

Nancy Magnarella: Love your shirt!

Nikki G: Did I hear the directions wrong? I thought they said pile all your hair up and clip it before drying the rest of the way.

KDP: I love your videos but they are so long.

Dianna Parrott: I think at first you had more lift

Kathleen Mausser: Both look the same.

gis4gilli: I think they look the same @gis4gilli

Judie Loveday: I'd be interested to see what your hair looks like next day if you don't scrunch out the crunch on washday. I find my hair looks better if I sleep in the cast on washday (I use a puff cuff to pineapple at night).

nat: second. It feels mediocre.
