Hey loves, Thank You Valentine here with urban OG calm. I am here at Michaels, Arts and Crafts and while they may be under construction, we're about to get under some serious construction ourselves, I'm going to show you a quick and easy way to make feather hair extensions and feather earrings they're super cheap to make it with Supplies straight from your craft store really easy to do and a lot of fun and they look amazing. So let's get inside okay. So, to start off, you just want to choose a basic chain, a nice size and color that you want to work with when you're choosing your chain. You may want to think about things like your hair color and your skin color. Something with like a silver is going to show up really nicely against dark, hair, colors and say if you chose like a gold color that works great. If you have fair skin or maybe blonde hair, I'm going to choose just a standard silver. It'S kind of universal! Look next after you get your chain. What you're going to need are what is called findings, and these are the things that are going to attach your feathers to your chain and also the earring hook. That'S going to go actually in your ear after you found the chain that you want to use, you're going to need something that actually clamps the feathers onto a little jump ring hook that you can attach to the chain. These have a loop on one end and then they have a little clamp that you're actually going to stick the stem of the feather inside and pinch close to hold it tight. They have laid out all of the items that I got at Michaels on my table here and I got some neon feathers. All of these feathers were about a dollar fifty to two dollars a packet. Well, it's not absolutely necessary. It does make your life easier. So for those of you who want to get more involved in the jewelry making process, I am using some flat nose pliers, I'm using round nose pliers and I'm also using some standard wire cutters, I'm going to start off with making a pair of feather earrings. So I'm just going to take my chain and I'm going to measure it just against myself for how long I want it to be. Now I like long dramatic earrings, so I'm probably going to do something to about there. It'S always good to cut a little bit more off the length than you need, because you can always go back and trim it shorter. If you want, I have a little helper now we're ready to put the clamps on the feathers. Now, I'm going to give you a little trick on how to do this, to make it most secure, so you're going to take. This is the front of the feather I'm going to flip it over to the back, and I'm going to take one of these little clamps, I'm going to stick the feather right inside the clamp and then with a pair of pliers, I'm going to squeeze over one Side of the clamp first to pinch, the stem of the feather in nicely and then I'm going to come over the top and close the other side over it. That'Ll give you a really nice clamped down stem so that you're not worried about the feathers popping out. Now I have a bunch of feathers clamped and I've kind of laid it out. The way I wanted to hang on the chain just get kind of a general placement of what you want to do and now we're ready to attach each of the feathers to the chain itself. Now, actually, the proper way to open jump rings is not to pull them apart. This way, like you might think, you actually just want to take the ring where it splits and twist it like that. That way, when you go to close it, it's going to keep its shape a lot better. This part is really simple: I'm going to take one of our jump rings here, I'm going to loop, it first through the feather just like that, and then I'm going to take that and loop it through my chain and close the jump ring together. I'Ve got my feather scull nicely clipped on here. You can make it really full if you want to, or you can stop with something like this or make it even less. If you want to maybe even just one feather at the very bottom of a chain. I know it's time to just put our earring hook in it, so it's the same kind of process. My earring hook already has a loop on the end here, so I'm just going to take a jump ring and hook that through my loop and then I'm going to take the other end of that and loop it on to the end of my chain, and you Want to make sure to close that nice and securely, how easy was that guy? So I have one of my complete earrings on I'll show you guys what it looks like on I'm pretty excited by it, I'm actually going to leave the excess chain there, because I like the way it looks, and it also gives me the ability to add more Feathers to it, if you like, if I like, what do you guys think a great way to rock something like this, you can actually experiment with the asymmetrical look if you just wanted to have one feather, earring, a really long one and maybe a stud or something I love that look or you can make two equal ones now that you guys know how to do the basic feather earring, I'm going to show you how to make a great clip in feather hair extension. It'S really easy. As following the same process, I decided to use some brighter neon colors since we're getting close to spring and summer time. I thought that would be really fun and it would really show up well against my dark hair. I'M just going to take my chain just like I did with the earring and I'm just going to measure it pretty long. Since I have long hair, I want to make sure that I have the option of having it run down the length of my hair. If I wanted to, instead of it like stopping short, which is usually when I go to buy one at the store, they're, never long enough, I'm just going to trim the chain do all of the clamping and then also show you how to put it together. On the clip here it is nearly finished now. I'Ve got it. The link that I want to when I put the feathers on and I'm getting ready to attach this to the clip so that I can clip it into my hair. I'M using one of these type of hair clips that bend open when you pop it like that it's got a no slip grip on the back. So it's really to stay in nicely. So I'm going to take a jump ring and I'm going to slip it on the chain right about there and then you're just going to slip. Your hair clip through your jump ring like that and close your jump ring all right and then you just clip it. Wherever you like in your hair, I'm just going to flip a little piece like that and do this kind of guerilla style without a mirror, I'm going to tuck it in clip it on and there we go. Here'S the finished look for the clip in feather extension.
