Hair Extensions Gave Me Hair Loss!

I wore hair extensions for YEARS. Glue ins, tape ins, clips in...you name it, I had it.

I've experienced genetic thinning hair (androgenic alopecia) since I was 19 years old. I needed a solution so I started wearing hair extensions, and I was SO happy with the extra length and thickness they gave me.

But there was a problem. As my own hair had no volume or fullness on top, the extensions didn't cover the top of my head, where I desperately needed the coverage. I was also noticing that I didn't have enough hair to cover the tracks of the extensions, so it was super obvious that they were in. They also weighed my hair down, became uncomfortable throughout the day and even made my own hair thinner, due to breakage from the constant pulling tension.

And then I found TOPPERS!!!

And I never looked back!

Hello, everybody - i am here to talk to you today about the differences between hair, extensions and hair toppers, and why hair extensions no longer work for me and, of course, white toppers are my ultimate solution. Now in my hair. At the moment i have one of my own toppers in, and i just want to talk a little bit about the differences between - i guess, hair, extensions and toppers, because it is a very common question. So i feel, like everyone knows what hair extensions are like. They are, you know they come in all different sort of types of like constructions. The one i've got here is an actual um, it's actually a luster hair, halo extension and i'll talk a bit more about those because a while back, we used to like offer these um now not as much, but i just want to talk to you about. You know some different sort of types of hair extensions. This is a halo, one comes with a slight fishing wire and it also has like clips, and things like that. You can also just get clipping hair extensions and then, of course, there are like the hair extensions that are more like permanent. Like you know, tape ins um the glue ones now, a lot of our customers have experience wearing hair extensions and then i feel like toppers are like their next step. Basically, so the reason that lots of our customers move from hair extensions to toppers is because, if your hair is really fine or like thin, especially on the top you're going to find it quite difficult to like cover the actual tracks of the hair extensions. Even if you have like the tapings and things like you know, there is nothing worse than being able to see all those joints in your hair and, unfortunately, if your hair is on the thinner side, it's just it's really difficult and it actually takes well. When i was personally wearing them, it took me a very long time to put them in and get ready, because i'd have to use a lot of dry shampoo, a lot of like hair fibers, a lot of like teasing my hair just to make sure i could Maneuver it into positions where it wasn't showing the tracks or the tapes or the glues, or anything like that. If you have like, i guess, a normal amount of hair in your head or a thick amount of hair, that's not going to be a problem, but i'm specifically addressing like women who have finer or thin hair like me. So i'm going to put this one on and i'm just showing you like what i mean in terms of not being able to cover it properly and also still having a problem on top, whereas, okay, even if you do get all the tracks covered and everything like That you're still going to not have that fullness on top. So for me it looked a bit awkward because it was like. I had all this hair like down here, but then the top of my head was, i guess, quite bare in comparison. The other question that we commonly get is hair extensions damage. My hair will toppers also damage my hair. Well, a lot, probably not toppers, are not going to damage your hair, especially if you're really gentle with the clips. The clips that we specifically use on our toppers are like carefully like designed for women with thin hair, so they have like honestly. I can't even feel my topper on my head and the other benefit of toppers is that it's sitting on top of your head. So the clips are just there to like secure it in place, whereas with hair extensions, it's actually pulling down on your hair, so gravity is working against you, whereas with a topper, it's working like with you, because it's not pulling down on anything it's just literally sitting On top, like a cap sort of thing and then just clipping to stay in place, whereas yeah the hair extensions it, especially if you have them in all day for an extended period of time, it is constantly pulling on your hair so over time that hair that It'S clipped into is becoming weaker and weaker, and then it's causing damage i'm going to take off my topper and look a halo extension is probably not the best example to show we actually started doing halos last year, but with the intention to um wear them with A let's fix my camera to wear them with a topper on top. So if you want that real vava voom, like you, can wear a halo and a topper, and the benefit of that is, you won't have to blend your halo at all like you can literally just sit it on top because the top is going to cover everything. See here my hair is super fine. Now to put the halo on, i need to tie up this little bit so then i can place the halo on and then blend it all together. Okay, so i'm going to put my halo on now. Let me show you what the problem that i have is: okay, so with a halo, your hair is meant to cover that fishing wire, but obviously my hair is way too thin. Let me just clip these in okay, so we can see a lot of hair down here vavavoom, but on the top you know it's, you know i don't have to say anything i'll turn around and you can see here there's just not even if i pull out More hair there's just not enough hair to cover the tracks of this halo so um. Obviously i can go vava voom, adding a topper and a halo voila, so much hair, but it's just mainly to demonstrate with you why lots of our customers were once hair extension. People and now they are topper people, so let's just deconstruct this and then i will put my topper on for you and show you how it works. But i've had to put these two clips in to my hair and already that is pulling downwards on me. So my hair's already fine, i don't want to further create any further damage. That'S why i love toppers, because i can wear them without worrying about what's going on with my hair underneath and the last thing that you want with your, i guess, hair loss solution is to be causing more hair loss. I am going to put in a different color topper, so i've parted my hair. You can see it's super fine on top, but the beauty of toppers is that doesn't matter because we're going to cover everything and we're still going to feel like ourselves, because our own hair is still exposed. Now, as i'm saying again, this top is beautifully curled. My own hair is not so much so the perfect blend would be to add a little bit of a curl in your own hair and there we have mermaid locks, no damage, no pulling no uncomfortable likeness by the end of the night. I wear my toppers. Every single day it's perfect coverage at the back. You don't have to worry about anything showing through and the best part about it is no one is ever going to suspect, you're wearing anything because they just look so damn natural. I hope you enjoyed this video if you have any questions about hair extensions or anything like that, you can always reach out to us we're happy to chat i'll see in the next one. Bye,
