Why I Cannot Wear Hair Toppers.

Several people have asked me why I don't just wear hair toppers instead of actual wigs. Well, here's why! I did try one, and it doesn't work for 2 reasons. Watch to find out why, and if maybe they would be right for you.
Hello, it's ashley with roland with the o fields. So today i have something a little bit different. This is still poly young, but i've had several um comments and whatnot people. Ask me why don't i just wear toppers um that way i can keep my own hair and not have to deal with wigs and everything else, and so i wanted to do a quick video um. This is actually the first thing that i tried and what i got was the curlable long topper, and this is colored 1426, the um sunkist blonde, and when i got it i was super super excited but realized. Toppers are not for me and there's two reasons number one you can see my hair you can. Hopefully can you see how thin this is like? This is the whole side of my hair and you can see straight through it. You can see the light going through. It is so thin um right now it's static clung to my head um, it's normally pretty frizzy, pretty not pretty, and so the thought of this still on my head just covered with a topper. That is a completely different fiber it just to me. It didn't look right. Also, the bangs that i kind of have right now are don't don't even ask about this um, but you can see here. These are kind of longer and whatnot, and i've never really had straight across bangs, but i realized after i bought this topper straight across bangs are not for me, so i did have this one style, because i was trying so hard to make it work. But i realized it wasn't going to so i wanted to show you first off. I mean you see how thin my hair is. It is super. Fine i'll show you this. When i pull it all up in a ponytail, you can see how not thick this is. Okay, the little the small black um ponytail rings. This guy gets wrapped four times in my hair and even then i still have to fix it over and over, because my hair is just that thin, okay, but so here's, the one that i got this is the curlable long topper and, like i said she has Bangs um, i thought maybe i would like the bangs, but i didn't so you can see here and i'll show you on the inside is just the regular cap. You'Ve got the little pressure clips here and so to put her on at least what i was initially doing. Okay and then we're gon na put this right up kind of on the hairline. Okay make sure she's. Even let me get these clips clipped in my head is also apparently funny shape. So i can't just press the clip. I have to actually push it in. So okay, you can see um bangs are just not for me. These bangs are just way too short um. It sticks up right here, which is very annoying to me because it just doesn't look natural, but i mean overall, the topper itself, if it weren't for the bangs here it it wouldn't be bad, okay and i'll turn around i'll. Show you the back. So you can kind of see all right and then size all right. So aside from aside from these bangs, which just are not me, okay, the biggest reason because i know you can find toppers without banes, the biggest reason why this is not going to work. For me, with my fine thin hair, these clips hold nothing see this. This is not right. Okay, i shouldn't be able to move it at all, and so what i did when i had it styled, is she actually put a braid in? Let me get this off. See it's still stuck to my hair. It just does not hold near my scalp, okay, so what she did? Oh now, it's actually in there. Okay, she put a braid going right here and then right here, all the way around for me to actually clip it into and what happened or what i felt was that it just made it stick off my head even more and it it still didn't. Look good, and so i got online and i looked at many many many many um videos and reviews and everything else i tried hairspray. I tried um doing little twists like where you take this hair and kind of twist it and whatnot nothing seemed to help. Now. I have since seen that they actually make kind of like the wig grip bands, but they make one that has a clear band for toppers. I never tried that um, because the style just did not look good on me, and so by the time i had seen that topper with the little clear band i had already tried wigs and realized. That'S what i need to do so anyways this gal here. I'M actually going to send um to someone and see if maybe we can find a new home for her because she is pretty um. I do i mean she's super soft. You know. Maybe she would look good on somebody else, but on me not so much and like i said, even if i spent a whole bunch of money because for whatever reason, these toppers are like double the price of an actual wig. And so, if i go and spend a whole bunch more money and it still won't clip to my hair, then what's the point and people i know i had actually bought the clips to put to add one here, but i mean you can see: there's there's no Hair here i mean there's hair, obviously, but it's so fine, it's so thin, nothing clips to it. I have never pretty much in my entire life been able to wear claw clips or anything else. My hair is just so thin. It'S always ponytail holder four times or nothing. I mean i've, never even the little. Even these little guys right here, these little clips, they will not stay in my hair. They come right out. So that's the reason for those of you that were wondering why i decided against the toppers and instead to just find wigs that i liked so anyways um toppers are great for some people. I know i've seen quite a few videos, especially on tick tock, where you know they have toppers, they love them. They wear them all. The time one girl was in a boat um, going super fast on the lake and her topper wasn't moving my topper. However, you can literally pick it up off my head, as i did a couple of minutes ago, so anyways i just wanted to show you um, i mean she's super cute. Toppers may work for you, but they don't work for everybody. So that is the reason, and i am going to send this pretty girl off now and hopefully we can find her a really good home and i will be back with some more wig review videos for you. I'Ve got quite a few in so anyways. I just wanted to show you this and you know explain a little bit why i personally cannot wear toppers and you can see my hair looks terrible um i mean it looks absolutely terrible. So really and truly you don't want a nice pretty topper over this anyways. Beautiful Betsy: This may help some of you that experience a similar issue when trying toppers. Firstly I think the base is too large, this explains why you cannot clip it close to your scalp and achieve security. Secondly the topper is mainly wefted, this makes it very stretchy and the reason why it is not sitting flat on your head. We find the best toppers are either fully mono (fine mesh) or fully silk top (fine fabric) which are hand tied to follow the natural fall of real hair (which is why they are generally more expensive than machine made wefted wigs). In short you would need a smaller base (2 inch x 3 inch) with a mono hand tied base made of real hair so that you can style it any way you want. Hope this helps BBx
Patricia: Your review was the most honest I have seen regarding toppers, Ashley. Can you imagine people with very fine hair or very little hair on the top and sides and all it would take is a gentle breeze that would blow the topper right off their heads! Very good review, Ashley. Thanks for sharing. And I understand why can't wear a Topper but I have to say you really look cute with bangs and the topper matched the color of your hair perfectly.
Judy Lee: I wear a topper, so I know a little. My hair is thin and fine like yours, only shorter. I think your topper looks good on you. Makes you Really look younger.trim bangs and readjust clips. I don’t know, but, my opinion, you looked really cute in it.
Susan Nordyk: I have the same hair as you. I've considered toppers, but had concerns about how to make them stay in. After watching your video, I'm pretty certain I would be in the same boat as you. So thank you for saving me the time, money, and disappointment of purchasing a topper.
Tigerroux: The topper doesn’t look bad if you had the bangs thinned and shortened a bit. My hair is almost as thin as yours and I have the same problem clipping the hair combs into my existing hair. Try combing your hair straight back like you’re going to put it into a ponytail so your side hairs are higher on your head to allow more hair to clip to. Then undo the ponytail to blend with the topper.
panddwinstanley: I thought it looked really good on you, even with the bangs. I also have hair like you, very thin and fine. I do wear a topper and with perseverance I’ve found that my topper stays put all day with no problems, I just use texture spray on my own hair where the clips go and this stops the clips from slipping. Cindy Frischer: Thank you for your honesty. I found your review helpful. I personally have had no issues with wearing toppers, but who’s to say my hair thinning will not progressively get worse. So I thank you for the “heads up”.

Jackie Romero: Thank you for this review! I know this is older, but So many woman have no idea where to start with toppers & wigs, if we can help eachother Just a little, it ALL helps. 1. I had very similar hair to yours when i started losing it due to auto immune, fine wispy and dry and brittle. 2. I tried that SAME topper from Paula Young.....it was HORRIBLE! It sat like a cone on my head! I even took to wig hair dresser and he complained about it, but he did dirty it up, and ratted it, and styled it for me,it did look "better" but not at $30.00 a style to only be worn once then when combed , it was out again 3. After much research i found toppers that had a monofilimont top and lace front, (just like full wigs) so rejoice because i then used wig tape to secure down, but as time went by, lost more and more hair, so had to transition to wigs. I wish Paula Young would make better products, but they really stink (most of the time) . Have topeers and wigs in closet I wish i could sell to help others, and i wish i would have saved my money and knew what i know now. So please keep doing videos to help others ! Ladies, try Rachel Welch, Ellen Wille for lace feont toppers that can be adhered down along with the clips☺

I didn't want to waste a ton of money and have them not work, and since they were the same cost of a wig if not more! I'm a wig gal for sure!

Ginger Chocolate: To me that topper looks good on you. You look very pretty with it. There are strings that can be put around your head that can hold the topper from like temple to temple. The same system used for halo toppers, but the other way around. I have seen that in videos from India. The brand is 1 Hair Stop. But I mean there are options you can try, there are many kinds and different types of toppers, don’t just give up. I am sure there is one for you.
Cheryl J: Isn’t it crazy, that toppers can cost so much more than wigs?! To get new colors and styles, (and take advantage of sales), I often turn wigs into toppers.
sara35ish: I agree with you. My hair is really thin due to alopecia and I much prefer a wig. I wear a wig cap and I don't want clips pulling what little hair I do have. There are a lot of really pretty wigs out there

Mary J: I had a topper professionally made, $2,600 Canadian $. So expensive. Human hair but it has too much hair and hate the bulkiness on top. Mist of my hair loss is in the crown so the combs had to be lowered. They make you pay almost half the money upfront, so if you hate it, you lose your deposit. It really sucks.
D Murphy: I imagine my comment is too late, but a few things. First, you look great in that topper. I am in the same boat as you. I have very fine, thin hair. I bought a topper and follow the instructions of some of the other people on YouTube that say to use "Stick It" a roll on glue. It's easy to wash off. I just take a wet sponge and wet the area. No muss. You (or anyone with fine hair) should consider it if you do go to toppers. Just put a little strip of it along your forehead where the topper meets your your hairline. Hold it down for a few minutes and it stays put.
Jacqueline Roberts: You can use It Stays adhesive at hair line n onto hair. I use it on my hair/topper and it stays and doesn’t pull ur hair out n washes off with water! My hair is just like yours. It could work if you tried.

Joyce Powell: I understand what you meant about the bangs. I am a bang person and have lost my hair volume in the matter of 4 months. Those bangs have way too much volume. You need a topper with no bangs and low volume hair. Maybe start with 130 percent. That way it’s more natural looking. You also have to do what’s good for you. Love your honestly.

Krystal My: I like that wig on you. I would cut the bangs and don't put the bangs in the middle. The wig is already worn in the bangs, that is why you don't like it but I do think that style is perfect for you. Very cute with bangs. Looks great on you. Also Paula's wigs run very small so that might be the reason it feels weird or doesn't stay on. My wigs were so small too. No way I could wear them. I have had a lot of good wigs over the span of my life. Paula young sucks period. Not having much hair sucks. I get it. It is scary to look at my hair loss. That is my review of Paula young.

Elena L: The topper looks nice but I do know what your talking with the top not being flat, a hotcomb would help a lot with making the top of the topper look much flatter and more natural looking they sell them at Sally's it's perfect for wigs and toppers

STJ: I used to work for a major wig manufacturer. I am also a hairstylist many yrs. I have designed hair pieces that even a bald person can put on and stay attached. Unfortunately I've been unable to find someone to manufacture them for me. If anyone is interested please contact me.

Sona S: Get a thin headband the same color as your hair if you can and then clip the topper to that. It’s hard without hair on top. I have the same issue as you and you have to really play with it to make it your own. Maybe trim the bangs a little but I think the topper looked great on you.
