Create A Hairline With Thinning Hair / Blend Your Hair Topper Easily!

Ladies with hair loss! Today I'm showing you how I create my hairline and integrate my hair topper (Jon Renau's Top Secret in 10H16). If you want to see more pics of my hairline, check out the post: https://cornerofhopeandmane.com/create...

Using Joan Rivers Great Hair Day Powder (let's count how many times I screwed that up in the video!), I can blend away my sparse hairline and give the illusion of more hair. This also helps to integrate my hair topper to my bio hair. I get the Joan Rivers powder with on Amazon or on QVC.com.

I wrote about this product recently: https://cornerofhopeandmane.com/helper...

Adding in some concealing product and prepping the bio hair you do have helps to conceal any topper rim, no matter if you are wearing synthetic or human hair.

P.S. I was doing some filming with a hat earlier so lots of fuzzies in my hair!

Hey guys today, I'm gon na show you how I blend my hairline to make it look very seamless when I put my topper on so let me show you first, so you can see here when I'm working on fixing my hairline, I'm not concerned with this big Area of loss here, because my topper is gon na cover this, but what I am concerned with is the immediate hairline which is right along here and then this temple area on down is very sparse. So that's really where I focus my efforts to make my topper look. You know pretty damn undetectable. Let me show you really quick if I did not put any sort of product on my hairline. This is how the topper would look so from afar, probably not too bad. Maybe I don't know I can't tell, but if you get up close you can see. Let me actually kind of show you watch the topper come down on my hair. You can kind of see that line of where the topper is when your hairline is really sparse. So you can kind of see that right in here and then, if I were to clip this on my head right now, right here would be really really sparse and as it went really coming down the side of my face here. So this is the area that I really work on, so that it does not look like that when I put my topper on so what I use to camouflage. That area is John Burnett, not John renowned Joan Rivers, jr. great hair day powder. So this has been get getting a little bit hard to find. It was out of stock for, like the past six or eight weeks, or so it's now back in stock Amazon sometimes has it, because some vendor puts it on Amazon. You can find it on QVC as of the time of this recording, but this has actually made me a little bit nervous because when I need it, it's hard to find so I'm gon na be stocking up on this highly recommend that if you love this product, You do that too, I'm going to be testing out some some similar products, because I have a feeling this line is slowly kind of going over, which makes me nervous, but for right now this is what I've been working and it works had. This is what I've been using and it works great. It comes with the brush. It'S perfect, it's a dense brush, so it really helps to work into your hairline so recommend using the brush that it comes with all right. Let'S see if I can do this a little bit harder doing this on camera, I have a mirror off-camera here, I'm gon na be looking into so the first thing that I really do is I hold my hairline back a little bit like that, so that the Hair is taut and off my face and then I take a good you're, not gon na, be able to see it on the brush, but I take a good swirl of this product and I just start working it into this hairline. Okay, let's get going here. I don't do so much of a dragging technique, more of a dabbing technique, so the dragging I don't know why I do it this way. I think the dragging might maybe not deposit enough product - I don't know, but I've always just dabbed it into my hairline. So you can see that going on and I don't go personally too far over this way, because I do part my hair on this side and it it tends to just cover itself. Naturally, when I lay the hair down, so I really focused more on this side of my face. Okay, so you can kind of see the difference that that has already made right in this area all right. It might look a little amplified with the lighting, but in in real life it looks much better, so I'm gon na then take a little bit more on my brush and work my way down the side. So I fill in this temple area again still dabbing and with the dabbing you can do a light dab for a little bit of product. You can kind of smush it into your head for a lot of coverage, so it's um, it's versatile for sure. But I add this powder all in here, so you can see, that's filled up filled out some and then I also go down my hairline here. I'M getting some Gray's here. So it helps to cover that a little bit, but I figure if it doesn't. That just looks like a highlight, so it's fine work that almost all the way down to my ear. Okay, my little mirror this looks a lot better and yes, looking at this, I can see it's a big difference right. This was all like kind of white in here before we started, and this product makes the world of difference. Okay, so I feel a lot better about that. So once I have the product applied, I take my comb, which is gross. So I'm gon na try to not like put a close-up on camera because when you're back combing your hair every day and then when you're back combing, your hair, that has concealing products and the tines of the comb just get disgusting and no matter how much I Try to wash it it's just gross, so we all just are gon na have to deal with that. But what I do is a quick back comb on the side of my hair here, to give it a little bit of volume and then up front as well. So when I pull that up, you can really see where I applied the product. You see a lot of it here and nothing here: okay, so this just helps that combing helps to give it a little bit of structure and a little bit of lift, because when I have my topper on here, I like to see my own hair coming out From right in front of the topper, so once I've done a little bit of the back combing, I used some hairspray. Any hairspray will do. I happen to use Tresemme, but whatever you have it's perfectly fine and I just do a little bit of spray to keep it in place that dry just a bit and then with that we're ready to put on the topper and hopefully you're gon na see a Big difference here, so this is my John Renault top secret topper, the one I wear everyday. We just put this on and I get really close here so I can see. Look in the mirror here. All right so about here is where I would apply it. So you no longer really see that obvious line of the topper sitting behind your spiral, your sparse bio hair. So it's pretty well concealed. Let me clip this in and I'll give you another close-up. Okay. So I take my little hairs right in front here and I make sure that they're fully out from under that clip, so I pull them forward a little bit. So it looks like right in here. My hair is coming straight out of my head, which it is, but it looks like basically all that air is coming out of my head when you do this, the way that I've been doing it. So let me see if I can get up close here. You see that so this is not white anymore you're, not seeing a ton of scalp, it's all colored in it's blending with the underside of the topper. Hopefully you can see right here. That'S where my own hair is coming out from my scalp, so it helps to cover that's why I did that back combing. It helps to cover the rim of the topper same thing over here. The the product has shaded my scalp, so you're not seeing a ton of white and then the back combing helps to conceal the room of the topper on this side. So I have my light, turned up all the way so that you guys could really see my scalp. So hopefully it's not like over exposing it to the point where you can't see it, but that is what I do for my routine. Every single day, the powder product that John or Joan Rivers product is really helpful to you if you are wearing your topper up, which I do a couple times a week. So you recall, I brought that product all the way down the side of my face. So when you have it up, all of that is covered, so you can see here from this side that I didn't work on it's a little bit like you can see a little bit more hair here. This is natural. It'S a little bit more sparse here. So I might take I've got this in my left hand. Now, let's see if I can add some color in here, I might take a little bit of that water. If I were to wear my hair up and just add a little bit of that into the sideburn area, because you know that's normal, typically people have a little bit of hair there. Okay, so that's my routine! It definitely helps with the way that I part my hair. A deep side part makes this a little bit easier to integrate and that's why I've always done my hair, so I kind of lucked out in that regard, but highly highly recommend the John Joan Rivers. I have massacred that every time I tried to say that on this video Joan Rivers, great hair day powder. Obviously this shows how much I, but I use that right in front of my genre. No topper and everything seems to integrate really really seamlessly. So any questions on how this works, let me know, hopefully this technique will work for you get yourself. Some new Joan Rivers put it ahead of your topper and that hair line is gon na start to look a lot better with really quickly. Okay, I

ann Sam: I hope you realize how much good you've done by demonstrating to others who have hair loss that they can look natural with a hair topper. It takes a lot of courage to do what you've done. Thank you for doing us a good deed!

Amie Shadlu: Great tips, and thanks for sharing! If the hair powder ever becomes unavailable, try a tinted brown dry shampoo. That's what I used to use, and it worked terrific! Heck...you can even use cocoa powder!

Silk or Lace: It's so key to find the routine and technique that makes you feel the most confident - love this! At our wig and topper company, Silk or Lace, we always share tips and tricks from personal experience for all types of hair pieces so our customer can find the best method for them!

Donna: Really helpful tutorial, thanks Lauren! Off-topic, but the other week on one of your videos I mentioned that I was switching from my Noriko Berlin topper to a wig... I decided on Noriko Claire in Mochaccino-R, and it's on the way ☺️ I can't wait!

Kristi Suttles: Thank you so much! I've yet to wear my topper in public because I can't get it "right". This really helps!

Little Red Goddess Persephone: Thank you for this! I bought the Claire topper from Uni Wigs recently because I loved your review of it and I adore it. It's my first real topper and I feel so great. I have so much more confidence. I bought it in almond frost and dyed it to match my hair! If not for you I never would have had the courage to move on to a real topper!

Michele Farrar: I bought the Joan Rivers product and it works beautifully! I have blonde hair but grays that creep in soon after coloring. My topper matches my hair perfectly so the grays were very noticeable. I also have the thinning at the temples. Thank you for sharing about the powder, as it saves me from having to color my grays so soon. And since the topper covers the rest of the roots, it's really helpful!

Chef Hasti: You are very beautiful with or without the topper ! And coming out and helping other ladies in dealing with this issue is a feat of great courage. Kudos !

Sheila Attaway: I’m so glad you shared this three years ago! It’s helped me to much.

Rochelle Morgan: Wow. Thank you. I already use those hair powders and I am starting wigs. So your video was great!! ♥️

Cherie Barnes: Thank u so much for all of your videos. Those of us w/ thinning hair appreciate your courage and great tips. I have a hard time w/ the hair powders because I sweat and girl...yikes. Wish they were sweat proof.

Erin Lee: Great tips. I've been following your videos for a while now. You are one of the women online who really helped me get the courage to start wearing toppers and wigs over the last year. I'm in my 30s, I'm a mom, (and I also live in Texas -i think you mentioned you do too, if I'm not mistaken! ) So, thank you for putting yourself out there. Thank you for all the tips, for diminishing the shame and the stigma, and helping women feel like themselves again. It's not easy having thinning hair at this age, but I'm getting my groove back :)

raeann cardoza: I just use eyeshadow! my fave is nyx betrayal single brown matte shadow, stays amazingly well! I've seen some hair powders and they are the same as eyeshadow , ingreds etc, its just more expensive cause of marketing usually. I've never seen this one you are discussing though. but just a tip for someone who can't find that or want something cheaper. I have a level 6 brown, (irl salon level, not a Jon renal level lol ). have you tried a 8/32 color Jon renau? I think you would love it I just got it in Cameron, its beautiful and barely anyone shows it. looking at your real hair I think its close to match.

Linda Jansen: Thank for showing your routine. These are great tips that I will use.

Janet M: Awesome explanation! I am going to try applying the great hair day. Thank you so much for the video. You are the greatest!!!!

Mstoastie R.: That product looks great on you, almost an exact color to your bio hair, looks amazing on you. Thank you for the tips, You're a beautiful girl!

D C: Love all your videos. They are so helpful. Thanks so much! What do you use to make your eye brows so perfect too?!

Chey Song: Thank you for this link I decided to come here and watch how you fill in your hairline. I actually do use a powder called fill in powder with Procapil that I got on anything that's much less money than Joan Rivers product. My hair is thinning almost as much is yours is on the hairline .. your powder does fill in more densely I believe Than mine however. I think maybe I'm trying to make it too thick on the forehead portion.. I do have only a few sparse hairs below my hairline so I may pluck them before filling in. When I get my black n brown henna it does make a darker base and less product is needed.. but it hasn't arrived;) .. I love the way your toppers look and appreciate your videos.

cynthianm74: Great tips, thank you! Looks great on you!

My Makeup Tackle Box: Hello I really enjoy all your videos, you’re very informative. What is the color of this topper and do you like the color you picked out for this topper?

Lindsay Holbrook: Lauren--as of right now you can get the Joan Rivers hair powder through Soft Surroundings! I get the catalog and I just checked the website and it's there too. Also, you save a few bucks when you buy more than one.

Carmel Sivets: Hi there, I love your vlogs, I have a similar hair colour to you and I would like to know what colour you use in the Joan rivers great hair day powder? Thanks so much

Kelli Killman: I have a top secret and mine has never looked as good as yours. I swear mine came out of the box dry and crispy. It’s not too bad a day or 2 after washing, but it gets so tangled and clumps really badly before a week is up. Any tips? I wash it, let it sit overnight in apple cider vinegar, condition it, and then do the silicon mix.

Gala: Thank you so much for this

Sandy Lewis: Another great brand is Madison Reed Root Touchup. Same price, great product. (If they discontinue the Joan Rivers)

D C: John Frieda root blur works well too and Color Wow root cover up. Just fyi in case they discontinue the JR. I also use EverPro Grey Away on my scalp. It has a little puffy sponge and some spray that really covers up your scalp too!

Drumcat Fano: Are your eyebrows tattooed and do you wear eyelashes? Both look very good. Thanks for showing yourself to people who are dealing with this.

Kathy Weston: Try “Fill In” Powder. It come with a stipling brush. You can get it in Amazon.

Keri Stevenson: Any suggestions on how to thin a topper with too much hair?

jewelleryaddict: Good idea. Will help many. Thanks for sharing.

Hey, it's Kay!: Thank you so much for doing this video. I also have the Top Secret, but mine REFUSES to lie flat at the front of my head. I've had it for about 6 months, washed it a few times, and nothing helps. Any suggestions?

Liz McLean: I use dollar tree eye shadow & it works great

Trinh Giang: Have you tried toppers with a wispy bang to help with blending the front hair line? I am thinking of trying one with bang as my fro t hairline is getting thin and it is hard to blend the front.

River Song: I'm currently using Fill in powder by Irene Gari to conceal some of my hair loss. I get my first skin topper on Thursday, I'm excited but nervous at the same time. I just turned 30 but my seborrheic dermatitis caused a lot of hair loss for me in the last year. I just really hope it looks natural. Sadly, I'm currently living with the "family gossip" and would hate for everyone to find out.

C C: Your presentation is wonderful!

Bethany Fuller: Do you take out some wefts when you wear the Top Secret in an updo? I wear a 5x6 base on my topper, but getting it to look right in an updo is a challenge. Wondering what it would be like with even more hair!

lisalund02: Hey thank's a lot! I have a question. Do you know the difference between JR:s 10rh16 and fs10/16?! ❤

SALL: Have you ever used or heard of DermMatch? It’s what I currently use and love it. It may be another option if you can’t find the Joan Rivers.

Emmi B: I sure do miss your videos, they were always invaluable to me. I hope you are doing well.

Patty Pickle: Beautiful and so natural looking. You, too!!

LOVE THE DONALD: There is a website/catalogue called Soft Surroundings ... I believe they carry the Joan Rivers product.

M D: I ordered a topper and did not like it at all. I am curious to give it another try with your helpful tips.

Monique Lewis: I love your video. Can you tell me what topper, length and color it is. I keep buying them but they are always to blonde. Your’s looks perfect.

cjw: The top of my head looks like a bubble head when I put a topper on. How do I fix that?

D K: I have very dark natural hair but have a light blonde topper (I used to bleach my hair but now don’t due to hair loss) - how do you wear them and look natural in the front?

Gina F: A makeup sponge is good for applying too

Deborah Scoza: Smart top has a lace front and I was told you can’t put a lace front topper slightly behind your natural hairline like you did. Did you trim the lace?

kitty5439: Ty , you’ve helped me

Simply Complicated: Great video!

Barbara Blackman: Thanks, great video sorry I didn't see it till now

Picking Photography: What color of the Joan River powder are you using as a brunette?TY

Yanqin Wu: Thats how i do mine ^^

Ninu Kaur: Hi there, I wanted to ask you if you can make a video and show how you tie you hair with added hair piece. I like your look with tied hair but may be I am not using a right piece to do so because it looks bad. Help!

deborah page: Would this work with a widows peak at the front?

Linda Jansen: Check out ultra. They have a hair powder too.

cjw: Are you using a hh topper?

Amy D: I’m such an idiot. I had no idea how to use one of these color fill ins correctly.

Debb P: FYI first of all your beautiful. I hope your wearing a real human hair topper not synthetic, only saying because it kind of looks like a shiny synthetic type of hair.... Also I'm not just saying to save $ but if you go to dollar tree they sell a brown 2 sides one light shade of brown and dark shade of brown. They also sell this awesome elf eye shadow brush that pretty near that same type of brush that your using. They ALWAYS have it in stock and I myself use it works great stays on all day until I remove at night...... Just putting it out there. So don't be discouraged if you one day can't find Joans powder. My opinion it's basically just brown eye shadow. I ordered it once before it dawned on me that it's just eye shadow with a title. Lol But if you feel comfortable buying just that, hey no problem whatever makes you happy is ALL that matters.... Stay sweet

Pooja Shukla: How long r u using toppers

Keri Noh: I bought that when Joan was still alive and I still have 2

lnzinorbit lnzinorbit: This is an old video but I was looking for advice I just wanted to tell you there's another product called dermmatch...

Barbara Balvanz: I’m sure you have good info, how ever, even with my volume all the way up, I can hardly hear you.

Sammie A: Why did you cover the hairline on the part ? I thought the idea was to blend it and make it look realistic. This looks like you are wearing a wig.

Shovel: The loudest sign that you’re wearing hair piece is the EXTREME shine.

NekoNeko: Need to use a better mic had the volume turned all the way and it was still low

Nancy Skinner: I can’t stand the scent of the Joan Rivers product; so disappointing!!!

Pooja Shukla: How old r u ?

Debb P: People "hair powder" is just brown eye shadow. Lol seriously nyc and nyx also makes great brown eye shadow. Oh "hair powder" jk. Seriously it's eye shadow.
