Hi, i'm lacey rodriguez from no filter beauty and i suffer from androgenic alopecia, so i have thinning hair, especially through the crown and i love to talk about hair toppers, which is kind of my solution of choice. I like to review lots of different pieces and kind of give you the lowdown on, what's going to work for you and what's not, and i also do private consultations. So if you have any interest in that click, the link in my bio or leave me a comment and i will definitely respond and see how i can help you. Let'S first talk about the cap construction of this piece, so this is a mono top, but i'm going to tell you right up front. This is a very high quality mono top. So i'm going to kind of show you the base and go over some of the specifics, but monotops are they're awesome for breathability, like if you're worried about being too hot. If you live in an area, that's hot or you just get hot you're a mono top is such a good option because look at this it is like so it's see-through, it's transparent. You can kind of see right in here um. I put the scar tape on i'll talk about that in a minute, but but monotops are just like a fine mesh, so there's tons of breathability the airflow is great um and it just sits very light. This is so thin. You have to see how thin this ridge is like it is so paper thin that it sits so flat, and i'm going to show you that in a minute, but this cap is amazing. It'S completely hand tied 100 hand tied every single one of these hairs was hand tied by an artisan who's very good at this um. So it's very labor intensive uh, but it gives the hair this really natural movement. You can part it anywhere um again, it adds to how light this is. The base size is just right, i'm not gon na lie. I was a little worried that the base was gon na, be too small. For me, i'm used to wearing like an eight by eight silk top um, and this is a six by seven, so six um six inches across seven inches long from front to back. I was worried. I was gon na be clipping into like really thin areas on my head and it was going to be too heavy for it because in the past, i've had a bad experience with a mono top where the cap ended up being too small, and it just caused Traction alopecia right here in the front. This piece hasn't done that at all it is so comfortable and it's because it's so lightweight like the i can do a smaller cap size. I'Ve discovered um. If the cap is this lightweight and the density of the hair, is this lightweight another thing i love about this cap? Is it doesn't have a comb right in the middle, which is right here, which is where i never ever clip anything into the clips in the front? Go on kind of the sides of the part. So i'll show you when i clip this in, but it ends up freeing up all of this, because this is so light it stays put and it sits super flat without having anything in between the cap and your head right here in the front where you want It to blend it ends up sitting super flat because there's no comb, so let me show you this um, i'm just gon na line up my parts like this. Remember, there's no clip right here. The clips are right here on the sides. I line it up with my part, clip it in right. There pull my own bio hair out in the front and then i clip in the back and it has three clips in the back. I only use the two on the sides. I don't use the one in the middle, i don't i don't feel like i need to because it's very secure, because it's so light um. It doesn't shift at all and look at how flat it sits like. I have never had a piece sit that completely flat on my head. Ever it's incredible. You can also see it's got: hair sandwiching the cap, so it's got some coming out from underneath and on top - and i think that's key to hiding the ridge of the cap, but the ridge of this cap. You know kind of like the little plastic. It'S got. This, like pu, lining like a polyurethane lining this really thin line around here, um, it's so thin that it's super easy to hide with the hair, that's on top and on bottom. Okay. I want to talk about the hair quality, because it's another really important thing when looking into a quality topper, if you're going to spend a lot of money on a piece you want to make sure it's going to last and the hair quality on this to me Is excellent, like i washed it and it washed up beautifully feels exactly the same as when i first bought it. That first wash is really important, because sometimes companies will send you a piece. It feels really soft and supple and you wash it and then all of a sudden, it's like coarser and more brittle and frizzy. It usually means it had a lot of silicone, probably product in it um. I don't believe that's the case for this piece, because it's held up so well and it took a long time to even get dirty. I'Ve been wearing this now for a couple of months, and i just washed it the other day just to see how it washed up and it washed up beautifully uh. This piece is super versatile too, because when i air dried it it air, dried kind of wavy and i actually loved the way the wave in it. In fact, next time i do it, i wanted to curl it to kind of like blow it out and everything for this video, but next time i think i'm going to leave the wave in it and play with it a little bit um. It was so pretty, and just so, natural looking um and it's just so fun to have a piece that can dry like that, because it's you have more versatility and styling, but having a little bit of a wave also helps hold curls right. So, like my bio hair is stick straight most of the time it doesn't hold a curl very well at all, and i found that with some of the more luxe toppers that their hair is really straight. They just don't hold a curl as long as as some other ones. I love that the wave in this helps to hold a curl. It just gives it like a more natural texture and um. The longevity of your style is gon na be way longer than if it had dried completely stick straight. The fact i haven't had any shedding on this that i've noticed even after wearing it for two months, washing it um. It'S still like i haven't seen any shedding, which is awesome and speaks a lot about the workmanship of the piece and i've said this like six times already, but the density of this piece is stellar. It is so light density and i think that's what most people when i do my consults, that's what most people are looking for is something that's going to be an easy transition into toppers. They don't want everybody to notice that they suddenly have like a whole mane of hair. They just want it to be subtle and that's exactly what this piece is. It'S, i think you know it's a combination of things that the 6x7 cap size is just perfect because it's comfortable enough and it gives you enough coverage, but it doesn't have a ton of hair. The fact that it's totally hand tied and just the density in general, like it's just not super, packed tight, it's just a more natural density and the volume on this piece is out of this world like this is the kind of volume i always dreamed of. Having with my bio hair - and i just could never ever get this much volume and get it to stay, so this is just the natural volume from the cap. Like i blow dried it i did it. I gave it a good um, you know style with a round brush, but this will stay now. Basically, until i wash it, it doesn't ever go flat, there's no back combing in it. I don't even have any product in it. This is just the way it styled product free. I used a little bit of um heat protectant and that's all i ever use on my pieces. So i'm like super impressed with how well it styles without product or even really effort it just it's just this is what you get. So if you like this kind of shoulder length lob this length is perfect for you and and it's going to give you like all the volume that you need to just wow it's i just i'm obsessed like i, i hate to say that word. It'S so annoying, but i am i'm obsessed with this piece. Dimple'S hair has some gorgeous color options. This one is called nutmeg. It was the perfect color match for me. You can actually order this clip fit. It'S like their color ring. You can order this and then, like you, pay for it and then, when you send it back, they reimburse you, but that way you can get it and you can try on colors, like you just kind of clip these into your bio hair and see you know How well it disappears so that's kind of how i got color matched and that made it super easy because it's it is spot-on, like it's got the darker roots, which match the under color of my hair, it's a little darker. So that looks totally natural and that's a little lighter on top. These really subtle highlights it's beautiful and all of their colors are beautiful, like that, it's hard to find these pretty rooted, highlighted colors in the topper world, especially ones where you can just like pick your color and order it. Sometimes you have to wait for like the right color to come into stock. That looks like something you want. These are like right now. I think they're out of stock on a few of the colors, but they're supposed to be back in within the next few weeks. So they're gorgeous dimples has amazing customer service, which is really important to me because, like i said when i do my consults, i want to make sure i'm recommending a product that not only do that, i would love and i would wear but that i feel, like My client will be taken care of through their customer service experience. You can schedule a free consultation with dimples to be color matched and to help you decide which size of cap you want. If you do that, it frees you up to have free returns. If you get it and you end up not loving it, so that means no restock fees, but you have to do the consultation in order to guarantee that, and their website is beautiful and it's so easy to navigate, which is another plus. I want to talk about the price, because toppers are so expensive, just in general, you have to remember this is like a human's hair that they have taken years to grow um. They deserve compensation. You know the the people who color it deserve compensation. The people who who build the hair - you know who sew this on one by one: they deserve compensation, there's a lot of people involved in the process, and everyone deserves a cut. So toppers are expensive just across the board um. This piece is a little pricier than some of the other pieces out there and some of the other ones i've reviewed, but i want to explain why, because i think understanding the. Why really helps to understand if it's worth it or not, and i promise you i would never recommend a piece that i didn't feel like was was worth it one way to cut cost when finding a topper is to get one with some wefting wefting is machine Sewn, so it's a lot quicker. It'S a lot cheaper, fully hand-tied pieces are always going to cost more because the labor on this piece is like astounding. It is so much work, so there are so many pros to it, though, and that's what keeps it so lightweight and comfortable. So i feel, like the price is still on point for what you're getting it's not overpriced for a fully hand, tied piece not at all. I also think that the quality of hair says a lot. This hair is not overly processed, like some other pieces. I have that, and i always say that in my reviews like if this is a budget piece that it it means that the hair is not going to last super long. So i don't know how long this will last. I'Ve only had it a few months, but in my experience i've had pieces last, two or three years that have really high quality hair. Like this, i'm hoping that's the case for this piece, like i said i can't say for sure, but um i can tell you that it is really high quality hair compared to some other pieces, and so when you pay extra for that you're paying for longevity the Pieces that have really over processed hair, even if it's remy hair, even if it says it's virgin hair, it can still be very heavily processed and that's going to cut down on the longevity. A lot like some of those pieces will only last three to six months. Some of them might last a year, but really high quality pieces should last you at least two to three years. As far as price goes, i want you to feel confident that your money is well spent. I promise you i would i've been recommending this piece now for months um, since i got it and i'm so pleased with it. I would never recommend it if i didn't feel like it was totally worth the price. I want to show you a little bit of how i customized the the scalp on this piece to look more realistic than most other mono tops. This is what it looks like without my little tricks. I'Ve done so if it was on your skin, that's what it would look like, which honestly doesn't look bad at all and nobody gets that close to your hairline to notice. But the problem is this: sits on my hair, which is dark, so it ends up just looking like. I don't really have a part um, that's kind of been the case for all of my monotops, because my hair is dark, but i love to do this little trick. You just get a little piece of scar tape. Put it underneath, where you're going to part your hair, you can still part it anywhere. You could do two pieces of scar tape if you wanted to give you more area, but you put it where you're going to part it, and then that gives it an automatic skin tone underneath no matter what you, what color of hair you put it on. It'S going to always have a skin tone to it, and then i did just a little bit of concealer to kind of blur out the knots where the hair is tied onto and honestly like nobody's the wiser promise. Now because i believe in being fair and honest and transparent, i always talk about the cons, because i've never had a piece that didn't have some cons right, um, the number one con which, like i said this comes with all mono tops - is it's just not going To look quite as realistic as a silk top, i i'm also here to tell you that nobody cares nobody notices and the more you wear a topper. The more you realize nobody's looking at your part, nobody's looking at your hairline uh, but i know that for beginners, sometimes that's hard to get used to, which is why i did the customization honestly, i don't even care. I wore this without the scar tape for two months and didn't mind at all. Nobody ever noticed i've had more compliments on this piece than any other piece um. So, for me, it's worth the trade-off to get the lightness and the breathability and just the comfort than what you have to have to get a realistic part, which is a lot more bulk. There are a couple things i wish dimples had, that they don't have. One of them would be more options in cap sizes. I still love this cap size and i'm totally fine with it, but i know i've done some consults for some women who really still probably wouldn't be able to to clip in to this area. They still need something, a little bigger that clips in lower and that's really hard to get with a fully hand-tied cap, so i i understand why they don't offer it, but i wish i wish there was something like this for someone who needed a much larger cap. I will say my mom she's got more hair than me, but her head is super super sensitive and i didn't think she'd be able to wear it, but we tried it on her and she wore all day yesterday and was like honestly. I don't even know where the clips are like. I wouldn't even know where to find them to take it off. So if she can wear it all day, it is super comfortable. I promise another thing i wish they had is more options in length, so i actually had my hair trimmed to kind of match this length a little bit. It'S still a little shorter than my own hair, but i had it cut in as like a layer. So again, if i wanted to wear my hair like really straight um, i would have to cut it really blunt and i probably would have lost some length so 12 inches is all they offer right now, i'm hoping that maybe in the future, they'll offer longer sizes. I know like an 18 inch up to an 18 inch. Probably would please a lot of people because 12 inches is still it's a perfect lob length and i think for a lot of people, it's totally fine and it is for me. I, like i, love this length, but a lot of my other pieces are longer, and so i just wish there was more options for length and the last con is the price. Like i already said, i still feel like it's worth the price and that the price is fair um. I always tell people, i don't feel like any of these hair topper companies are like sitting back and and robbing us with their profit margins. Um. These things are expensive to make period. So if you can swing it, if you have it in your budget to get a high quality topper, i absolutely recommend this piece. I definitely think you should do it if you, if it's just so far out of your budget, it just seems impossible. There are other cheaper options. Just keep in mind. The price is getting you the breathability, the lightweightness, the the versatility with the parting and the pulling it up and all those things, and it's also giving you longevity, like the hair quality, is going to be much better than a lot of other budget options and you're Going to get the longevity of having really nice hair for hopefully two or three years, instead of like three to six months so overall i will say i was blown away by how much i love this piece, because i really honestly was hesitant before i accepted it. It was gifted to me by dimples at first. I wasn't sure i wanted to accept it. I felt like it was too short and the cap was too small and it was a mono top. So it's kind of like all these three things that i was like. I don't know if it's really even gon na work. For me, i'm really attached to my silk tops because they look so real and they're so easy to blend, and i've had monotops in the past that were kind of a pain in my butt. They were hard to blend, they didn't sit very flat um. It was hard to make them look realistic. Sometimes the density was just too thick, but this one like totally exceeded all my expectations and now now i'm obsessed with it. I'Ve also said that i've had more. Compliments on this piece than probably any other piece i own, and i think part of it is because it just looks so natural. Some of my other pieces are very beautiful and very luxe, but it's a big change from like my bio hair to wearing something like that. This is a much easier transition and just looks so much more natural on me because i'm not a person with a ton. A ton of hair, so, if you're in the market for something lightweight light density, comfortable quality this this is this is your option. This is the best option.
