Hi everyone - I was at Sally Beauty Supply over the weekend and I thought I would grab some stuff when I was in there. I was actually looking at the extensions and they were super expensive. Clip-In extensions were like 150 bucks, although they were a real hair. So I think from that perspective, they're - probably worth it, but I just didn't want to spend a hundred fifty bucks. They also didn't have my exact color match. So I spoke to one of the gals that work there and I said: can you make your own extensions with clips and she said absolutely you can so she showed me the stuff you need to buy, to be able to do that. So I went ahead and purchased it, and let me tell you it was all a really good price compared to the clip ends. Anyway, I got this hair intensity hair which she actually took out to try and match to my hair color. So it looks like I am dark brown number two, which makes sense because for wig hair colors, I'm also a two. So that's how they grade it. I think there's like a one which is jet black and i1b, which is off black and those are just a little bit too dark so got this. I haven't open it, yet it's 14 inches of premium blend hair. So it's like a real hair mixed with synthetics. I know click this quite a bit in there, so we will crack that open and have a look. The other thing that she got me to purchase was Neal and thread to sew in the clips, and so once again we picked a dark color to blend in with the hair that I'm gon na be sewing these clips into and then actual large wig clips. So these are them there, so I will be sewing these in which I've never done before. So we'll see how that goes, and so I'll tell you what the prices I mean all together. Everything was 46 dollars before taxes and I will not talk about how high the taxes are, because I live in Ontario in Canada in Toronto and our taxes are high. But anyhow you don't hear about that. Okay, so the hair itself here was 33 dollars and 49 cents. The sewing kit was five dollars and twenty-nine cents. The clips are seven dollars and twenty-nine cents. This is all from Sally Beauty and I've never been into a Sally beauty, and I really liked it. I want to go back again. I don't have one near my house, so I've never gone in, but I was actually on vacation in Belleville Ontario and they do have a Sally. It was right across the street from the hotel I was staying at. So, of course, I just marched myself right over there to see what they had inside and they have so much great stuff so hoping to explore there more, but my task for the day and I should be working right now. I should add I'm actually on assignment. I'M a freelance writer, I have our writing assignment, that's overdue, but while I wait for people to get back to me, I thought I would just hop on and make a video and open this stuff up and have a look okay. So, let's just open this first it is 14 inches and there seems to be quite a bit of hair on there. So I've never opened it, although she did open it for me in the store, but then she popped it all back in so I've never touched it. She just sort of held it up to my hair. We decided it was a good color match so away. We went - and I purchased it at that point - oh my gosh. It'S really stuck in there good. So the reason I bought these is quick. I just want to try some extensions for longer hair. I don't really want to wear a wig, because it's hot right now and I thought just maybe some clippings could be fun, but you know I don't really want to make an investment out of them and I didn't want to spend over a hundred bucks on them. Okay, so she's out. Well, it's still soft. That'S a month's phone, not my phone, I'm out on my deck, so the neighbor's phone is ringing. Okay, yeah warning: do not color tint promo chemically alter the hair extension anyway. Okay, that's fine! I can curl it or straighten it up to 340 degrees Fahrenheit, so they are heat resistant to degree, which is like many ways and synthetics. You can actually do a bed of heat. Okay. What is going on here? It'S gon na be hard to get out. Alright, it's actually tied up and up clip it in the back here: okay, so they're out sort of now. What all right, I don't understand, what's going on here? Okay, guys, I'm gon na pause. I'Ve got to go, get a pair of scissors and I'll be right. Back but feels pretty good, there's not a whole lot of hair on this, but uh okay, you'll see I've got a pair of scissors. Here we go. Is my trusty kitchen scissors, I'm gon na go in here and we're gon na open these up. Let'S have a look: it's summertime. It'S like a fat wad! Aha, I was not expecting it to open like this. The hell is going on here. Oh my god. I thought it was pieces and look. It'S like the biggest drape of hair I've ever seen in my life holy crap. How am I gon na? Do this yeah? Oh my god, people and then for it shoot. I did not know. It looks like this. Oh my god, I'm getting it already. Okay, I think I'm just gon na undo one side at a time. This is not what I was expecting. I thought these were just individual pieces, but it looks like gon na have to cut them even more, which is kind of freaking out. Ok, ha ha! Oh, my god, what the heck tell you? What, though, when I clip these all in I'm gon na have like a mega long, hair, okay, well yep! This is gon na be a day project for sure, wow people, whoa whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, Wow, okay, that was only half. I haven't done the other half yet yikes. Okay, that's Oh Frick! I'M super intimidated! Now. Okay, all right guys, I'm gon na pause - and I guess I have to clip these I've heard the chip to measure like the amounts that you wants. You like measure back here, the nape and you cut off a portion, I think, is how it's done. Then you throw the clips out of that and then you just keep going holy smokes. I had no idea would be this much hair, that's half of it. What I'm showing you was half well. I have my work cut out for me. Okay thousand degrees out here. I'M boiling I'm gon na cut here, and I will see you guys later so, as you can see, I've moved the hair factory indoors because it's just too hot outside right now, because where I was sitting was kind of sunny and it's a really humid day. So, oh my gosh look at all this hair, so what I've got to do is I was thinking how am I gon na measure this all up, so what I did was just found like an online package and I'll show you what I'm gon na. Do it? Just says that when you get a package online that you get two pieces that have four clips and then three pieces that have three clips and two pieces that have two clips. So what I'm gon na do is I'm gon na take these wig clips and then I'm just gon na measure out like how big the piece would be. If I put four whoops, this is the wrong way and I'll do like four: okay, not not as janky as this, but I'll do them all nice and closer together and so I'll sew that on and so two of them have four so they'll bring me up To eight and then basically there's some smaller pieces as what they're saying so then I'll throw some clips onto some smaller pieces and then we'll see how it goes. Oh, my gosh wish me luck. This is quite the craft for the day. Okay, see you guys soon. I'M hopping on with another quick update. I have been playing with these a little bit, these crazy extension hairs, and so what I decided was to double up. I was gon na double up them to make them thicker, instead of just using one. I cut it twice and sew it together, so I don't know how well I'm gon na see if I can zoom in on this event, I've just sewn them. You can see my fairly, not great sewing, but I've sewn two strips of them together to make it a bit thicker, and so now I'm gon na steal the clips onto these. So I decided to double them up to make each thing a bit thicker. Instead of the one strip there's two strips on top of each other sewn together: okay, so now onto the clips, okay, everyone! So here I am - and this is pretty funny - I'm actually doing a voice over because guess what? When I made this, I forgot to press the record also or turn the battery on on my mic. Anyhow, you see me here: I've got the first set of clips in the back of my hair, looks purty Jinky, I'm showing you the needle. This is the curve needle curve needle did not work so great, I'm trying to get it focused. You can see it's got a bit of a curve in it. That'S the one you use for sewing in a weave, so I switched over to a straight needle and that for those of you who are gon na do this worked a lot better alright. So what was I doing back here? I think I was just fiddling with it. Well now, I'm taking it out cuz, I think I'm gon na show it to you. Let'S see if I'm right, pretty sure, I'm trying to unclip it. Yes, okay, so you'll see here that I sewed in three clips into this and I'm trying to focus it up, but there are three clips that I sewed in so I've just been sewing all day. I have some of the extension, the clip in extensions in and they look pretty good, although this doesn't look great, but if you just kind of picture it like this, that's a little so bad right. I just wanted to show you what a couple of them look like off. What I did here was. I took three pieces. I cut that long long piece into three and I sewed three of them together and then I put Clips I put two clips in as well, and then I am working on this one, which will be my last one. And so, when I get all of these in I'll, let you have a look and I'll cut them in I'll. Give you a look of what they look like. You should see this. You should see my living room, though it looks like I'm just gon na spin. You guys around and you can have a look. It just looks like a hair explosion took place in here, yeah, so yeah kind of messy kind of messy the floor is an abomination as well, but stay tuned. I am just gon na I'm just gon na be finishing up and I'll put the rest of them in and then we can have a look, but it's actually a really good match for my hair color. So I'm just gon na I'm really tired. I went to the dentist, I got a filling, my mouth is partly frozen, but I am powering on and I'm gon na get these done today. Okay, I am just finishing up the last few stitches is, you can see. My handiwork is not the best. I am NOT the world's best seamstress, no God kind of sloppy as the days gone on some tangles here, trying to undo those a bit. But what I've been doing is just sort of sewing in these clips after I've sewn three pieces. So it's getting pretty thick, which is not probably ideal but hey we're talking making clip-ins for like less than 50 bucks, which i think is not a bad price at all. So here we go last few stitches, okay, yeah! I made a bit of a mess right here. Well here I don't know how good this is. Gon na look on camera cuz. This room is not that bright, like the whole of my house, not that bright. It'S pretty dark in here, but I'm trying my best. I'M just gon na close off the stitch, pretty much done and snip this okay. So here we go here the last two. I have another three and they're already in my hair, so these were just the final two and so like I said all the supplies for this was under fifty bucks and I stopped a little bit of hair left. This was the original. If you recall there was a lot more, so there's still a little bit more is probably enough there for another clip, but guess what I ran out of wig clips. So I just sew it all the stuff that I had together. Okay, so we're gon. Na put this on all right, so we've got all the clips done. I'Ve got a few of them already in my hair. I straightened my hair this morning in anticipation, because this is very very straight, although it is you can make it wavy. I haven't done that and I've done lots of sewing, so these were kind of a monster too. So I've got three layers, so I sewed up those three layers. First and then I added the clips. I was even at the park today with Killian and I was like getting one of the kids there to help me do the sewing, so she did a great job actually better than me at sewing some of these together. So we're finally ready just to finish the last two and see how they look. So here we go. I'M gon na stick this one kind of oh, and you can see I sort of taught knotted this here so that that's what you're supposed to do so that you can keep this out of the way. While you do the other clips and the idea is you just put your sort of biological, your bio hair, as they call it, you just calm that down over to be extensions. So here we go. I'M gon na attempt to put this one on in the back of my head and it's not easy to see and I've got to say also. My hair is kind of fine and clean. I think this would probably work better if your hair is a bit more gritty and dirty. Of course, you can buy products to sort of um. I guess rough up the hair a little bit, make it a little more grippy. My hair is really smooth, but I got to say these are super. I don't know what brand of wig clips these are, but they are so comfortable. I'Ve had these other ones in now, for at least I've been messing around with these for about an hour and they are super comfortable, but anyhow, okay, last one, I'm gon na put this on on the side, and so there are other YouTube videos showing you how To do this, so I'm just sort of following what they say, but basically what you the idea, is you part it and then you move a little bit from the part and you pull that hair over and then you clip it in and then you comb it Back so I want to attempt to do that now, so here's the last one going in I find that my hair is so fine and thin. I actually have to help it and I just sticking my fingers. I started in there and I feel like this. Clip is on top of another clip and another piece of hair, but that's okay, let's work with it. I don't know what the trick is to these there. So it's a couple of a knack. Just snipping these. I don't! Never! Oh okay! I got it well now that one doesn't look so good fix this one again, get it nice and flat to the scalp. If you can clip it, okay, so that one's in and it looks terrible right now so hopefully get it to look a little better. Like unleashing my own natural hair and it's combing it over here, we go very gently: gently gently gently go over see all right, that's not so bad. I think the main trick is getting a color, that's pretty close, and so I think I got a pretty close color. Okay, hey not too bad. I think it needs a bit of work where the clips are I'll, probably spend a bit of time fixing those. But I think, honestly for under fifty bucks to make your own clip in it's great now. That said, I don't think I would do this if I actually had a job right. I had to be at the office from like 9:00 to 5:00. This was time intensive. It took me, you know I didn't spend all day doing it, but I spent a number of hours. You know doing the sewing and stuff like that. If you have that extra hundred bucks to spend, I would have just been - maybe the extra hundred bucks and get them clipped in I'll get the clips already done in. But I also want to say when you get the ones that you buy with a package. It seems to have more than this, so I don't know I don't really know how much cost savings there are. Obviously, if you're in a really tight budget, this is kind of a fun way to get a kind of extension. Look yeah, it's not perfect, but I think it looks pretty good. That'S really not bad for what it is. You know the backs, not great. I can't see it that well, but I'll fix that up and yeah. So this is my journey trying to make extensions. It was fun kind of a mess kind of messy, but these are kind of fun. I think what I'll probably try and do is put a bit a wave in my hair, though cuz I actually don't really like it, the straight, but there it is everybody that was like less than fifty bucks on my do-it-yourself clip in extensions thanks. So much if you enjoyed this video, please do give me a like and leave me a comment and subscribe. Thanks fight.

Daughter Of The King: Just for future reference, Cut the extention as wide as needed and immediately add a drop of glue to seal the hair from fraying!

ISAIAH 58: Very creative and they look great! been wanting to try this.

Tara Larson: Woke up with things to do as well but like you my sudden urge to make extensions is taking over! Haha I woke up with this idea this morning and loved to see your video was posted not long ago feels like fate

Daughter Of The King: At 6:40 you don't need to sew the clips so close together. My extentions are probably 2-3" wide with one clip on each side. The really wide ones I never use. I did double up some of them and sewed them together which saves you on needing more clips.

LIS_ CHANNEL: How did you get the extension to curl?!

Rosy Loves Learning: Soooooooooooooo pretty!

Karen Szeto: love ur hair style, so adorable. funny tax comment n work assignment.
