Foxy Locks Hair Extensions Review | In Depth How To Wear Clip In Extensions | Are They Worth £210?

I have worn Foxy Locks hair for roughly 8 years at this point. I first bought foxy locks hair when it was quite a new brand and there weren't many luxury hair extension brands on the market.

To this day I am still a huge fan, no this video is not sponsored and yes I have bought all my hair with my own money. I genuinely think there are some hair extension brands that are better than others and Foxy Locks is definitely one of them when you take in to consideration quality of choice of hair colour, length and volume, and how long the hair can last if taken well care of.

At this point I know what to use on my hair and what doesn't work. Foxy Locks themselves state the hair can last around 3 months but I believe this is them erring on the side of caution because there is no way this good a quality hair would only last 3 months, even with wearing it every day.

My last set I bought in late 2018, early 2019 ish, can't remember the exact date but they have lasted me with regular wearing since then. I don't often style them nor use styling products and I don't wear them in dirty hair so don't have to wash them very often. I find they hold a curl very well especially ribbon curls created with my GHD's and I alternate between having the hair straight after washing and then once I get bored of straight I'll curl it and leave it curled until I wash it again.

I have found that this is the best way to treat the hair and to get the best out of it and I find that these two styles suit me the best anyway.

In this video I talk you through and show you how I wear my extensions and this process means I can wear them overnight with no slipping or pulling painfully on single strands.

Here's a link to the exact ones I purchased. (Not Sponsored)

Hello, my lovelies welcome back to my channel today's video is a video on my hair, so i wear clip-in extensions. I have for years um. In the meantime, during the time i've worn clippings i've had all the types of hair extensions that you could possibly get. My hair is very fine, so i don't really get any volume or pleasure out of my hair that other, ladies with nice, full thick tresses would get like it's really fine and flat um. I can get a bit of root boost if i use a hairdryer like this. This is like the max i ever get of my hair, but yeah. So i wear extensions to give myself some volume and some length because i do um color my hair lighter i've got naturally very dark ash blonde hair um, so i've actually just colored my roots, just tinted them or lightened them, because i don't use bleach um. I used to and that's why my hair is actually so short as it is because the bleach just trashed my hair and i'm currently growing it out these fringe bricks. Um, don't have any bleach in them now, but they were at the point where the hair was like bubble gum when it was wet like you could literally pull it and roll it, and it would be like gum, which is incredible and the first time i've experienced That in my life i was actually wondering when people say: oh, my hair was that bubble gum what they meant, but yeah. My hair did that um with bleach, so i haven't bleached it now for i'd say coming up to a year, but not quite a year. So this is about a year's growth from when the ends went like bubblegum, so i cut all the ends off and then this has been growing out. There was about probably about this much of my hair at the time that didn't have bleach on it um. So it was about this much has grown in a year, so my hair doesn't grow fast either, so we're just on a journey and that journey involves not using um permanent hair extensions just because they also damage my hair as well. So when i want to go for the full volume look, i use hair extensions and the brand that i lean to and have done for years is foxy locks. So i've got some of their hair extensions here to show you quite how long i've actually been a customer of foxy locks. These are not the original ones because they're trash they were in the bin um, but i did buy these. This was like when they had. First, had their luxurious range and these i don't know i've kept them, but they're, just so pretty they're totally gone. You can't there's no rescuing these ends to be found, probably could cut it off and it would be fine to use again. I might actually do that. Who knows, because i colored these myself - i bought them the platinum ones, and then i ombred them myself and they're, just a lovely, lovely color, but these are the originals that don't have the skin wefts. So this is showing my age. This is how old these are um the ends, probably about the end. Four inches are just so dry they're, not crispy, but they're, not good. You can. You can feel how crunchy they just dry and split. They are really, but the topic here is actually feels very silky, so i might just cut that off. I will that's what i'm gon na. Do. I'M gon na cut this off, because i've still got the top bits, they're still perfectly lovely to wear. They don't have that horrible burnt smell when extensions get old, they suck, they lose all that silicon coating that comes on them like through, using like heat and washing them and things and after all, they start to have that weird smell about them. But these don't have that yet, so i might just cut that bit off and keep this because i love the color deviation, which is very very close to what my hair is like at the moment. So they're, my really old ones, just to show you the age of how long i have been a foxy looks customer for and then these are the latest ones that i purchased and the ones i've been wearing in all my like instagram and my other youtube videos. These ones i bought in 2019 - maybe late 2018, but i think it's 2019 and these are the skin weft ones, and let's pick these out this box once again, i'm losing bits here there we go so these ones do have the skin wefts. So they're, like the thin silicone tops and what i do is when i cut them to suit me. I then take them out and use a marker pen and mark where they go, so this is number six which is the top. So i start one two. Three. Four five: six and this side ends at five, and so this is actually the last piece that goes here and over time. This is always the one that gets the most styling on it, and it's just it's just gone now, so it's been gone and what i'm saying gone is like they're, no good, they need to be replaced, um and what i mean by that is they go static. They haven't got any like protective silicon layer on them. That'S applied in the process of making them um, they get knotty really really easily, and things like that, so they are gone and i have worn them to the limit, i'm afraid what they are, and these ones do have that hair extension smell about them. When hair extensions are just sort of burnt to within an inch of their life, when i bought these, i bought these were like the 24 inch ones. They were really really long and they come with the volumizer which has gotten wet, but that's number three, but this was the volumizer. So there's like one piece in the middle: that's really thick, so you have all the other pieces and then this is like the volume booster. You can wear this as a ponytail like wrap this bit around. I might keep it for that and then just like chuck the rest and yeah i'll. Probably do that because that's just you know it means i've got a nice colored ponytail that i can just use as just for ponytails yeah. So i'll put that on that little part with the other bits, but i'll put these back in the box and then i'm going to show you my new hair extensions, because i haven't even opened them. Yet. I went to work today and collected them from the office and here they are in their lovely black and gold foxy locks bag. So i'm just going to open this with my scissors and i did buy something else as well, um which i've got sort of a few things like it. But i thought i thought actually that would be handy for me going forward because it's kind of what i bought something to use as this purpose that's in this, but it wasn't quite up to the trick. To be honest, so what i bought was the hair holder. So it's got um like the sticky suction backs, for attaching it to a mirror, and then it's got little prong teeth. So you can put the hair extensions over it and it keeps them separate, so you can style it with two hands, so it holds the hair for you and then you can style it. I do have a hair hanger, but it hasn't got enough. Um strips across to hold a full set of hair extensions, it's kind of annoying and i'm going to open this up and show you what i mean. I believe this may be a magnetic front. Yes, oh it's nice! It'S quite heavy, that's good! Yes, it's got four suction feet on the back and it goes that way around and then you put oh, these are cool they're like they're grippy as well, so hair's, not just gon na pull through they're them coated in silicon or whatever. There is. I think it's silicon um but yeah, so the hair extension pieces go on that and then you can style them as you go and it actually is skinny enough to fit on the mirror in front of me. Probably won't use it on that one because it's i'm just balancing on my table but yeah brilliant. So i'm happy about that and then hopefully these extensions i bought today aren't going to be too dark for my current hair cuz. I'Ve just just done my roots today, literally my hair, i've just finished drying it and then i'm recording this video about this um. No, i'm not i'm just gon na leave it out and chop the box out of the way, because it's gon na be awkward cute. Little box, okay, so old, extensions, new extensions, oh and the box feels lovely, really nice box again um, and these are the same color as the ones i've just chucked on the floor latte and you get the two little sections in the box. This is the one you can try out and if you take these out of the net and try them on, then it's non-refundable and returnable, and so this is the one that you test the color match with it's probably going to be fine, because i did use A bit of purple shampoo on my hair, so that's what this it's like! Actually it's extra white little bit is here because my hair is a bit dry on the ends um, but i think it's actually still going to be. Okay, oh these feel so nice and smooth and brand new, oh silky, silky and gorgeous there's a bit here. That'S been caught up funny but yeah. So this is a number three piece and it feels really nice and does it match my hair color? Yes, it does so i tend to just like grab this bit here. Put this under then clip it in, and just do that and then see how that looks. Looks perfectly fine to me awesome. So yeah, i'm happy with these. I don't like it to be too blonde because i'm older and i've been there done that got the t-shirt for the whole bleach blonde babe. Look. I yeah i like my blonde to have a bit more about it, so a bit more and darker tones than that through it, so yeah, perfect and i've got it in. I think this is a 22 inches might say on the box. It does silk seamless superior 22 inch, 230 grams latte blonde. I'M gon na keep these because they're a really nice match, they're really really long and they feel so silky smooth. So i'm really pleased with them. What i'm going to do next is actually show you how i install hair extensions, because i have a trick that not everybody, i think, will even know about maybe hasn't heard about seen before i've been doing this this way for years, i will do a google before I um install these my hair and see if this tool that i use is even still available because i've had it for years. I hope it is because, honestly, it's game changing for putting in hair extensions and not having them like come out midway through the day. If you like, brush your hair and it like pulls out the side - things like that this this trick, that i do stops that entirely and it actually makes putting them in an absolute cinch. So i'm going to do a quick google for you check that it's still available and then i'm going to show you how to put them in your hair. So i just did the quick, google. Unfortunately, it's no longer available to purchase, but what it is. I will tell you, so you can still find um a pro version on the salon website and it's the babyliss pro spectrum. This is just the babylon fabulous mini crimper and it looks like this. You can still get them like secondhand things on ebay, um and it's incredible honestly. It'S like you, use this to crimp very slightly at the root, and then you can just slide the hair extension clip and snap it shut and there's no trouble you don't have to like pull it just do anything at all with it. It literally just slides in because it's like just slightly wavy, it's got texture for the grips to grip on to it's incredible and then obviously you can use this a bit higher up and it gives you texture and volume. Not texture gives you volume at the root. So i've put this bit in so i can show you how long they are nice. So that's really beautiful, um, the other ones that i had that um, i'm just going to be discarded. They were 24 inch and i cut them quite short and these ones. I actually feel like having longer hair again, so i'm going to leave these ones at this length, but i'm going to feather the ends in once they're in place, i'm going to feather them a little bit and keep the length, but the ones that are on top Feather those a bit, so it's got a bit of volume and like movement along the length of the hair, instead of just being all like one foot. What'S that word one i feel like it begins with s. I can't think of what the word is, but anyway yeah. So that's that one that's in my hair and take it out and then i'll show you i'll clip most of them in and then i'll show you like these top ones. What i mean with the crimper i'll do like a speed up version, while i oh here, um i'll film it but i'll speed it up, so you don't have to sit there. While i do this, but i'll show you the quickest easiest way doing: hair extensions i'll. Just turn this on so it's flashing, i've had that so long i'll be guided when it dies. So i separate very low at the back of my nape back my neck at the nape back of my neck at the neck. So i just grab that it's a very small amount, lift it strip it out the way with these snappy clips, they're, pretty cool um and then we're actually going to get the rest of the hair out because i haven't opened the rest of it. Yet so here's the hair, it's really really long and it's very silky and shiny, it's beautiful, so i'm just going to straighten them, as i put them in because there's just a little kink in the length - and i don't hardly ever use these single ones. They are good. If you want a bit of extra volume around the front, i don't tend to need it um right. So i've got two two clips. I'Ve got a four piece and i've got two. Oh i've got two four pieces and two three pieces. There'S already one three piece in there, so i use a two three four in my old set um. This one's got two four pieces. So what i'll probably do is do a three four four, three, two or two we'll see. So what did i just say? Three four, four okay, so yeah first piece will be the bit that i took out already because that's already straightened and then i'm just gon na crimp the back and then get on with this video. For you, even my old brush is foxy locks from so long ago. They'Re, like original logos, just wearing off okay, so we're going to a part where i can actually show you what i'm doing now. So i just take a small amount with my fingers and crimp. It close to the scalp, but not so close, that you're actually like burning your skin, and i just crimp all the way around the perimeter of my bones, my skull. It gives your hair a volumizing boost like that's it. That makes your hair stick out a bit, but then it's also got the grip factor: grip. Abilitiness. It'S got the grip ability, i think that's the right word um with the crimped hair and then pop these in and i'll show you from behind. So you just grab it between your fingers, offer it up push it down, grab it from behind and snap it, and then the next one do the same. Okay, so i've put the back pieces in it's already quite thick and it's only got the bits at the back sort of behind my ears from here downwards, and i've got a three piece left and two two pieces left and i'm talking about the clips. So this is a three piece and then i've got um two left with just two clips. So this will go here like a three piece and then two piece at the top and a two piece here at the side, and then it will be done and then i will just um trim it to shape. I might do that today. I might not, but just showing you how i put them in and how they stay, and it's incredible. So the last piece i put in is in line with my brow line. So i'm going to go up a bit sort of between my temple and the very top of my head and go right back and i take them down a bit in the line. So it's not dead straight across. It'S got a little bit of an angle towards the back when i put them in that way, you avoid them sticking out at the back like in a funny awkward way that they can tend to do sometimes, if they're, too long or if you have a particularly Round skull shape, but i'm going to crimp all around the hairline, that's free, because that also hides any um of the tracks doing this as well. So this is honestly it's like the best invention for hair extensions after hair extensions themselves. So i'm gon na put this one in first, so i don't tend to put hair extensions in this sort of hair hair, because this is like my baby hair. But it's this bit here. This is my baby hair, but it's getting long now um i'm going to comb it down, because you want to try and avoid getting all the wispy bits in because they hurt when they um pull them out. Let'S see like that, like that, that's really really good held in there. It'S really it's so good, honestly so good and then do this side a little brush. I feel really nice and thick, so i've just got. Excuse me. One part left to do up here. This piece and i'll show you again just in case you missed it, but you just grab a bit it's about this thick. It doesn't need to be really thick and you crimp close to the scalp, as you can manage without burning yourself, and it's really just that. You can do that all around to the back as well. There we go lovely hair extensions, i feel so soft. Oh, it's been ages, ages and ages, since i've had lovely thick, smooth hair. That'S! Oh, it's so nice, honestly wow, i'm gon na have to get used to that. It'S so long! It like tickles my elbows, it's like really long past my elbows. So, as far as reviewing the hair from foxy locks goes, i will say there is one other brand of hair that i've used over the years, and i flip between the two and to be honest with you, i don't see much difference between them, except for hair Color choices um, i think foxy locks has like this latte color and the other brand. I won't mention it in this video just because that brand loyalty um doesn't offer this sort of highlighted shade that i want well. It doesn't look like it does on the website when you look and obviously i'm a bit impatient, i don't want to order hair and then send it back, because it's the wrong one. I knew this hair was going to be great, so i ordered this for my color tone um, but there is another brand, but as far as what hair i would buy, i would only really buy these two brands and the last lot of hair i bought was This foxy locks hair um in 2019. So that's how long it lasted me and i wear them a lot. I have had in that time, hair extensions like permanent hair extensions, but all of last year i use those hair extensions, the clipping ones and i'd use them. Quite a bit before that as well, so they have lasted me. They'Ve lasted me three years, but within that period there's probably i think two times that i wore permanent hair extensions. So that's probably six months out of three years i didn't use the hair extension clippings. So yeah they've lasted probably like two two to two and a half years, so you do get a lot of wear out of them, so like spend per wear was really good on this hair. This was, i think, 214 pounds i believe, could be wrong, but it's around about that much i'll link them in the description bar anyways. You can see exactly what i bought um and they also do different volumes and different lengths as well. That'S what i like about foxy locks, so, yes, i i feel like where i've used them for so many years. I'M quite qualified to review this as a brand and yeah they're. Just like my go-to - and i can't stop touching it, it's so silky and it feels incredible and it's not static at all, which is so nice i'll just show you the length of these. They are literally past my actual waistline, nearly down to my trouser line. So they're here there's my waistline and these are longer than my actual waist. I do have a bit of a short body, mind. I'Ve got long legs and a short body, so these would just be waist high. I think on most people. What i will say also is i dyed my hair today to um do my roots and the color that i use is weller illumina 10 slash one, so this hair matches very nicely not this front. It'S from it's got a bit of um where it's a bit dry. The purple shampoo is clinging to it um, but this back bit is it matches really nicely to this latte color. So if you were interested in knowing that i do my own hair, so that's how i know what color is yeah, so it's well illuminate 10, 8 and that's just ash. It'S like pure ash, um lightener, with i used to day 20 peroxide on my roots. So not bad yeah, so let me know what you think, i'm very happy with this hair. It does go down to a really really nice thickness at the end, i'll bring it around to one side for you, so you can see how thick it really is, and then it's still quite thick towards the end and yeah. It'S a really really nice color. They they offer ombre shades, they offer different blondes they're, different reds, brunettes and blacks, and they also have like ponytail pieces as well, which are quite expensive um. I don't really understand why they're so expensive to be honest with you, but they are um. But yes, let me know what you think. I just think this is the easiest way to put them in your hair. That'S literally out there i've used it this way for years. I'Ve never had any trouble with it. I just think it's so handy and i just wanted to share it with you and hopefully you can get one of these or find one. That'S like a similar, maybe not a fabulous version, but you need the mini one. You probably could use a regular crimper, but then it might stand out a bit too much. Who knows it might add too much volume. I'Ve never used a real crimper on my hand, if i never use the mini crimper. So, who knows i don't so yeah and one other thing i wanted to mention was about washing the hair. So what i do is um, i very rarely wash it. I try to keep it straight for as long as i can manage and then once i've filled up with straight hair, i'll curl it and only generally i'll curl it from below my jawline downwards, and then once it's curled. It doesn't really need washing that much. I don't put any product in except for oil um, but when it comes to washing it, the less you wash it the better, because this hair does come with a treatment on it and the more you wash it that breaks down, then you reveal the actual processed Hair underneath that product - and i don't know what that product is, but through years and years of wearing hair extensions, if i have permanent ones in i get about four weeks, wear of them being constantly in my head and i wash my hair every other day before The hair, whatever that coating, starts to break down and then the hair gets matted around the back of my neck and things like that, and that happens about two years of wearing these um because they don't get washed like they do. When they're fully on your head. That sort of thing so two years of like heating, probably washing once a month once every two months. That sort of thing i mean, probably i don't even wash it that much to be honest with you um, i wash my actual hair every other day. So it's not like i'm wearing them in dirty hair or anything like that, and i don't put any products on other than oils so yeah i wouldn't i'd wash them as little as possible. If i were you, if you want to have one set straight and one sec set curly, do that. That would be incredible because then you're not constantly straightening and re-curling and straightening and re-curling in between what you want with your hair and you do less a lot less heat damage to it. That'S the dream, that's what i plan to do. I plan to get another set in a couple of months where, when i decide to curl these, i will then get another set and just leave them straight and that's what i plan to do. So that's a little bit of a luxury, but that i think that will work out really really well. So i would have like one set. That'S straight and one sets that's curly and then i just put in whichever one i fancy, because then the straight straight set will just stay healthy for years and the curly set. I won't have to curl it too much. To be honest with you. It drops out a little bit, but this hair holds a curl really really well. In my experience, um yeah, it's just really really good. I'M really really pleased with it. I would absolutely recommend it to absolutely everybody. Hopefully, you've enjoyed this video. If you did please like and subscribe, and hopefully i'll see you again soon for another one - take care bye,
