How To Make Hair Extensions Clip-In Hair Extensions How-To Tutorial

All these products were bought from Sallys Beauty Supply:

The Sassy Collection 8 inch Human Hair $7.99

Snap It Clips $1.89 (for 3 clips)

Thread 99 cents

Sewing Needle $1.29

So what you're gon na need for creating um your own clip in extensions is hair. Obviously, now this hair, I got from Sally's Beauty Supply and is their sassy collection, hair human hair in 8. Inches there's two different kinds of goodbye from sassy: it's their 8 inch hair or their 18 inch hair. If you want volume, get the 8 inch air. If you want length, get the 18 inch hair, I chose the 8 inch air because, obviously I don't want length. I just want volume and they sell them in all different colors. If you're blond, you can find them. You know for blonde. If you're redhead, you can find it for a redhead if you're brunette, they have different, you know tones of brunettes, so you can go there and find the color you need and it's human hair. So you know it can be dyed. You'Re also gon na need thread. Make sure that the thread matches your hair color or it's similar to your hair color. So this one I got from Sally's, it cost me 99 cents, and this is a black thread. My hair is in black. You know it's brunette, but you see you can't even see it in the clip. You know so just get something that is similar to your hair color. So if you're blonde get blonde thread, if you're on redhead get like a reddish Auburn, you know on threat. You'Re. Also gon na need clips to make the clip in extensions and a needle to sew the thread in that's all you're gon na really need and also a scissor. So the first thing you're gon na do is get your hair in a clip. Okay, so the best arm extensions to make are the extensions that are just the length of one clip, because those are the ones that um hide the best and they're the easiest to get into your hair. So what you do is just grab your clip, put it against the track of your extension and just measure it. You just want it to be the length of one clip, so I'm gon na stop right here. I don't know if you can see it, get a scissor and cut that and then make sure benefits. Yep, it's perfect! Okay, you! You want to make sure that it's secured onto the needle. Otherwise, in there in the middle of sewing, it's gon na come off and it's really just gon na mess up. You want to get a good amount of thread out, even if you grab too much it's fine, it's better to be safe than sorry and find out. You know at the end of it, you don't have enough. You know thread when you saw your clip onto your track. You want to make sure that the part where the combs are facing is facing you. You want the part like the outside to be facing the tracks. The reason why is if you go, and you sew the part where the combs are popping out towards the track you're not going to be able to clip that into your head? You see you pretend, like hey, listen, you can't clip that into your hair. You need this part with the combs pointing out to be the part. That'S facing your hair cuz gon na can clip in and then you can do that so again. Make sure that the combs are facing you so put your clip against your track. Grab your needle and thread and right here, where these little loops are you see these little loops, you're just gon na be sewing in and out of those loops? Okay, so you there you go. I sewed all the own thread through that I had, and now I have these two little parts that are sticking out like that and those are from the strings that fits the end of the string. So what you can either do is, if you're, like really really gifted you can tie, goes into a knot, but you know most people their hands. Can'T even do that. It'S too small, so what you can do is you can either leave it like that, which is what I usually like to do, because it's not only people can really see that through my hair. But if you want you could just snap it off. Just don't snap too close just half of it off you get a better scissor. I'M done, and you can see. I don't know if you can see this I'll put a light right there. I did a really bad job zone. You know I'm not no expert at sowing. I never so look the only time. I'Ve ever sowed in my life is to make my extensions, so you can do a really really bad job, but as long as you're, using a thread that is similar to your hair. Color people aren't going to notice that at all seriously they're not gon na notice it. So if you're blind use a blonde colors thread, if you're brunette use a brunette, you know colors. Rather black brown redhead use. You know like a redder tone, auburn thread. So just go with whatever your hair color is and when you're done sewing, you might notice that you have some pieces of hair that got caught up in the thread and you can leave them either like that. If you want to - or you can just trim them off, it's not going to affect anything, just trim it all off, so that is it for making a clip in extensions. It is really really easy, like I said, and the best extensions to make are the ones that are the length of just one clip, because those are the ones that that are the easiest to blend in with your hair and the ones that don't show as much. You know if there's any chance of it, showing it's probably not going to show in one of these okay and then after that. The second best to make are the ones that are the length of the back of your head, because these are the ones that give you the most volume and also the most length. So you just measure the back of your head and then you want to make sure that you put a clip at both ends of the extension and also in the middle of the extension. You can go ahead and you can grab like to say about that. Much like three inches of hair, you can go ahead and grab like three inches of hair and just sew one clip onto it. But if you do that, what's gon na happen is the parts that don't have the clip against it. They'Re gon na be flapping out through your hair. I mean people are gon na, be able to see. You know it's an extension, because the part that doesn't have the clip is just gon na be lying there and like poking out. So if you're gon na go and cut like three inches of hair you're gon na want to make sure that you always put a clip at each end of the extension. So keep that in mind. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and you find this helpful. You know it really really is helpful, and rather than just finding hundreds of dollars to hook up in extensions that are probably the same way like this. You know except yeah. Maybe they don't have like yarns sticking out like that, but big deal. I rather say about a hundred and fifty dollars, then pay a hundred and fifty dollars. So I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and take care of by. If you have questions, please please let me know I'm trying to help you guys out and then sometimes when I'm talking, I know it's kind of hard to understand what the heck I'm even trying to say. So if you have questions just you know, comment and I'll. Try my best to answer them and if you know any of the answers to the questions, people have let them know to you. Studies take care and bye.

Rebecca Dahlen: Thanks so much for this video. I went to Sally's yesterday and decided to try the 10" extensions for $11.99 (rather than spend the big bucks on the extensions w/the clips already sewn in). I was SO hoping I'd find a tutorial and yours was exactly what I needed!! :-) THANK YOU!

ShelbyCatt: This is a great tutorial! I've seen extensions just like the ones that you made here at Hot Topic, only two in a pack, for five dollars. So this will save you a lot more money.. Whenever I need volume (I've got thick hair so there's not a desperate need for it) I might try this. Thanks so much for uploading :)!!

Kerrie Giles: I'd never thought about using hair extensions for volume, I only thought they could be used to make your hair longer. Great tutorial.

LittleEvil: This was amazing. I had no idea how expensive it was just to buy the extensions with clips! Like $100 MORE!!!! I know how to sew, so I just sat and sewed them in while watching movies during vacation. Thank you so much! The comment above is correct. You're a genius!

therealhollywoodgirl: You made a very good tutorial, and you've inspired me to try it. Thank you.

LisaFreemontStreet: Great tutorial...extensions are something I haven't tried in earnest. I love Monroemisfitmakeup's tutorial but this one is more in depth and you actually sew yours. Excellent...

BlateroStulidum: Thanks, that was VERY helpful :D thanks so much for taking your time to record such great videos!

redhedy: Very helpful! I love that you tell where to buy the products and approximate prices. Thanks!!

castillo916: i love this tutorial it was awsome! i hope you make a tutorial on how to put in the extensions!!!!

MonikaLoveYouM: Wow girl..the before & the after...amazing!!

Courtney L: I got the euronext remy 14 inch extensions and they were only $80 and I love them ever so much! I highly recommend those. They're thick from top to bottom too.

Nena Bishop: You are awesome !! thank atons, I got my hair cut too short, now I needed an extension real bad.

iwanted2c1video: @HardCandyEyes I really hope it is helpful honestly its so easy to do and I love how they make my hair look! :)

Sweet kiki: bought clips like those awhile ago online...they're taking forever to get here. Can't wait to put in my extensions

Esther Lycett: I have fairly fine hair and I hadn't thought of hair extensions - I always kind of thought they were just good for length, so thanks for this video. My hair is shoulder length though, should I trim the hair first?

Andrea Boyes: @animeXjunki I just bought the sassy 10 inch ones, and they come with ALOT of hair. It looks exactly like the ones here, very thin on the track, but the track is 110 inches long. No, not a typo, One hundred and ten inches long. When I hold it all in my hand like a pony tail, its thicker than the hair on my head!! I'm going to do a tutorial I think, I have a few different pointers I think might be helpful, if you want to look for that in the next week or so!

Jasmyn N: how long do they usually last?

eurobabe: i like doubling up the hair when i make my extensions. it makes them a lot thicker and you wont need as many rows in your hair

grumpygirl77: i love it thanks u made it seem easy hope it is thanks

PrettyToya World: Very helpful!

nik00021: Love this video! what color are the extensions that you are useing?

Jenelle McKay: This video was very usefull and it helped a lot because the hair extensions i buy are like $35.00, and i don't need to spend that much on these!

TricaPLeeAnn: thanks, I've been wanting to do this, but I would need the 18inch since my hair is passed my butt, I'll wait until Payday. I was in Sally's Today and Didn't see the hair though, I'll have to ask next time. thank you for teaching us.

Tiffany Grey🏴‍☠️: i totally know what you mean about before/after shots, i was in advertising design for a while and while doing magazine spread in before/after shots, i was actually taught to 'shop the person before to look worse than the "original", also in a lot of commercials they usually make the "before" in black and white color, and the after with actual color, bllaaah

Jillianna Claire: haha love this. so do u perfur these for ever day wear? i want them but not sure if there good. im cheap too lol

minaishamyce: how do you clip them in? :o

Simply Extensions: Have you ever used Seamless Hair Extensions before like from Simply Extensions. The application only takes 30 minutes and removal is just 15 min. What is your opinion, thanks.

BerryAdelineBombshel: THANKS This really helped! i have 18 inch extensions n it was terrible having to glue them in they would itch so clip in is wayyyyy better! i thought it was gunna b hard but seeing this vid its doesnt look it! and how many peices go around a whole head???

iwanted2c1video: @xXteenageXqueenXx :X yikes! I dont wear them everyday only if I got out. I have a bald spot but for a totally different reason! :) When I was younger my brother used my head as a hill with his hotwheels toy. The tire got stuck in my hair and he yanked it out. Jay Parker: Ok I completely know how to sew BUT the little clipper thingies where did you get those from ..I mean r they like supposed to have holes in them ..do they have too?? Very very curious!?!

Tiffany Grey🏴‍☠️: @iwanted2c1video very sad but true :< yeah, we were taught like what makes beautiful/attractive features based on our time period, had to study older ones, what's always hold true was proportions, hence I had to whipe out half of someones face most of the time, i'm glad i left that field, and am now majoring in english rhetoric and womens studies, the feminist in me couldnt handle it rofl

iwanted2c1video: @lazyjayr I dont even know how to haha :\ you just put the thread threw the loops (holes) :) ask someone to do it for you! :) its real simple

Dienane Gregoire: uhm cutting it into one size of the clip is not good now you have like 25 lil clips running through your hair

iwanted2c1video: @lucidparody I KNEW IT! :) haha well I think everyone knows but I didnt know they actually taught you that in school :\ I thought you go to the company and they would ask you to do that. Shame on them :P

JakeIsFine379: you are so freaking hilariousssssss with your 'before' pic

xRAINAxBABEx: Not to sound creepy but is that your dresser your sewing over? Cuz it looks alot like mine...
