In this video you're gon na see me take my coworker Nicky's hair from this kind of warm summery color to this beautiful gorgeous fall, hair, color inspired by this picture right here we wanted to richen it up as well as brighten it up. So let's get started on the perfect Sombra color for fall. Her base, color is a equal parts of 5. 4. 5. 0. 0 & 6, 0 0 helps to just cover the grays and get everything to a nice neutral tone and we're using 30 volume for the double-o series. But that's what it goes for. So all I'm going to do is apply this to Niki's base and we're doing a pulled out root, so a smudged root. So I am pulling it down and then I'm going to flip over my section onto the other side of her head and then saturate this as well, and then I'm going to turn my brush vertical. Like you see me here and I'm going to feather that out. This is going to create a very soft melted root area, an easy trick for just going through and doing this for pulling out a base. It'S really quick and it always ends up looking really seamless and gorgeous. So I just continue to do this all over her head and you guys can see it is a nice melted root. We pulled it down a little bit further in the back than the front, because that's normally how we typically like to do our ssam braid colors, then we blew dry it and look at how rich and gorgeous that faces. It'S perfect! So now we're going in to Brighton we're using blonde me and 20 volume. This is a 9 level lift. It is amazing, Lightner and I were going to be using continuum. This is similar to olaplex that helps to rebonds and it's just magical. So here is our Lightner and I just kind of made it to a nice consistency, kind of thicker and then we're doing a low light. So this is 6n +, 5 n, equal parts and a little tip. If you want to kick it old-school, grab some Wondra and add this to your shades eq. This helps to thicken it up some, so you don't have to worry about it being super running. What I'm going to do is I'm going to be taking small sections of Nick Nicky's hair. Just like you see here, I'm going to lay down a foil on top of my balayage board, then lay the hair section down, I'm taking about 2 to intersections all overhead and random placement and I'm doing the balayage v-formation technique. So I'm just adding my Lightner to the sides and bringing it down so I'm doing on the left side and then the right side and I'm kind of meeting in the middle. It'S depending on where I want to go. I'M doing this up to about five inches down or so, and then I'm going to completely saturate all of the ends and just kind of feather that up. So it is a nice transition and then in the center of that, where normally you would kind of leave, I'm going to apply that 6n and 5n to just add that dark down through the rest of the hair, to bring some of that depth. It'S really gon na make these highlights pop, because that dark dimension is going to be in between that highlighted part, a really good tip if you're taking someone a little bit darker, but you don't know how to add that depth into the mid length. This is a great way to do that. So then, I'm just going to sandwich another foil on top of that - and this is just gon na help, so we can put her into the dryer and lift a little bit more. It'S a little different than freehand balayage, but you're still balayage in nonetheless, so towards her face, I'm taking it diagonal back sections that way, it just falls really softly and I'm doing the same technique. So I'm grabbing a two inch strand. This is basically going to be her whole front section from hairline to where I have her parted, because I part behind that ears. Normally, when I do this, so I'm just going to grab a section, I tease the roots a little bit just to make sure that it's super soft when we take it off, I'm going to lay the hair down on top of my foil, which just has my Balayage board, underneath I'm going to paint the edges of her hair with the lightener. Oh, my gosh guys this. The lightener is incredible. If you've never tried belong to me Shriya, it is a nine level lift and it lifts beautifully so fast, and it's just an incredible liner and with a continuum in this, it is going to help to make sure that her hair is not going to break and Fall off it keeps it in a beautiful condition. Just like you would see olaplex doing, I'm actually going to be making a video on the difference between olaplex and continuum here in the near future. You see me here painting in the low light color in between, like we did on all of the previous sections and then I'm just going to go through and brighten up her ends by pulling that and swiveling it into the foil. And then I will take my foil another foil and sandwich this on top to keep it all together and then we will be putting her under the dryer. So I just did this technique all over her head taking artistic placement of where I want to see. Brightness and all of that, and then I added some higher ones up towards her fringe area, so you guys can see it lifted to a beautiful color. You guys can see that dark and light in there. It just makes the most amazing volley as ever so now. I'M going to rinse this and then we're going to get to the toner and be a most amazing. New toner is a red kins, 9p oval glow. When I tell you that this is going to be the toner that you want, I mean look at this. It is the most perfect toner ever all of us. Girls at the salon want it. If you guys are hair stylists go out and buy it, because it is incredible, then I'm going to rinse out her toner and then apply continuum step two. This is um. The second part of the treatment - and you just leave this in the hair for no less than 10 minutes - then I'm going to shampoo a condition and blow out this gorgeous girl's hair. Oh my gosh, it turned out absolutely incredible. We love Nicki's new hair. It has that deeper depth at the roots and then those brighter ends that are just toned perfectly with this 9-p. We love it. Thank you so much for watching. If you guys want to see another transformation on how to neutralize brassy hair check it out in the description box below

Lien H: So gorgeous!! One of the rare videos showing the actual steps and it turning out just right!! Thanks for posting this!!

jamie anglin: Amazing job! Her hair is gorgeous! Wish I could find someone to do this to my hair.

CIRI: Blondme is by far one of the best lighteners I've used it is definitely a powerhouse of a lightener great for dark hair. 9p is too perfect for words, loving the results on my friends hair.

Mindy Miller: You can use corn starch too, or rice starch, or even tapioca starch to thicken any hair color or bleach mix. It is old school, but doesn't affect lifting or deposit at all! I have even added kaolin white clay to Blondor to make it stay put.

Ghostiiie kun: I love to dilute Matrix's 9P toner with SPV. Comes out perfectly toned.

maryann downing: Not so long ago discovered the 09Ps!! I love them too!! I was wondering how you were gonna get the copper out... Turned out fabulous!!

Scarlett777Red: I love a hair stylist demonstrating new products, fabulous video ,great choice of tint and technique -sadly, much as I love Redken products to use on my clientele,we can only buy it in the UK if you are a Redken registered salon. (That's the professional line, styling products are easily bought)

Becky: This is absolutely beautiful Alexsis! You have such good understanding of hair science! Wish I could hop on a plane from Scotland to you to have you do mine! :)

IKH: FINALLY A VIDEO THAT SHOWS A root touchup on gray hair with highlights and low lights! everyone post only Balayage on virgin hair.Great JOB!!!! Beautiful

Artemis Luv: This video is a life saver I’m a stylist n this helped me a lot thank you

Lena Sundermeier: Looks so amazing :) Did you pit the toner just over the blond or over the complete hair?

Shayna Gant: amazing color! so inventive to place the lowlight inside the V of lightener, thank you for sharing!

Jessica Cavazos: Awesome color! Was wondering how long you processed the base color and the toner?

Wendy Weinheimer: This turned out beautiful! And yes shades is the best!

Suspiciouslynotacat: This exactly how I want to dye my hair with a little bit of silver in the highlights though. Ugh it's so pretty

Rosie C: I use blonde me and love it. With olaplex and blonde me I got level 6 to 10 with 40 vol and 2 hours- no breakage ;)

Amy Baugh: Thank you for the video! I have two questions. One, so her hair that you started with looked very warm...and from what I can see and from what I think you were describing...you just took small sections and did the balayage technique with the dark color. Did the hair that didn't get colored get color on it in between the foils? I can't tell. I don't see any warmth in the end result but I also didn't see you put color on the hair that was left out. And my second question is, how small are each of your sections, ish? TIA!

1raychel4: I have learned so much from this video !! Omg thank u answered so many questions of mine as a new stylist

Sarah Danielle: this is beautiful and I have a color correction today to figure out. wish me luck. this is stunning

Juliet Ann: Beautiful. im wanting to do this on myself. We'll see how it goes lol

Vanessa Smith: You’re so awesome! Such a incredible job! Thanks for sharing! Btw, I’m a licensed too. Learn a lot from you. Thank you again!

Satisfying Whiteboard drawing: 9P is my go to toner. I just love it. I also use Schwarzkopf and Continuum. Glad to see that you also use the color line.

CreativelyReACTive: that came out looking impossibly beautiful!!

Leah Damron: Wow that turned out gorgeous!

Jade Beth J: Looks gorgeous!

Arlyne Sanjines: this is stunning! you are super talented! <3

Thrive With Hair: love this great result and very helpfully for redken just ordered 09p because of your vid. are there any more you would recommend?

Becca Dolce: This 9p is dreamy. I decided to try rose gold this time, but I'll be sure to keep this in mind for the future!

Laura S: You did a beautiful job I bet your client was THRILLED! Enjoyed this!!' Laura xo

Dom_dc: Application technique distinguishes a seasoned colorist from a rookie!!! Loved the turnout!

Maureen Bachmann: I always wondered if you can lighten and darken in same foil!!! Thanks. Always afraid to mix different chemicals and I wondered if it would come out in clumps

Sierra Zaugg: I am SO obsessed with your work!!❤️

emily galarza: Nice to see you doing what I love and miss sooo much can’t wait till I’m back in my beautiful shop that has been closed down since March Gods got a plan I’ll continue watching all you beautiful artists out there reminding me of my true reality ‍♀️ this to will pass thanks

HeatherDiesel: I know you love 9T to tone as well so how would you compare the 9P to it? I have lots of gold and some yellow highlights so wondering what would better suited for me and what would give a more ashy result? I think the 9T has blue tones as opposed to 9P being blue violet correct?

Ale Martin: I am not a hairstylist but I love watching your videos!!!

Emma Wales: Her hair is so lovely! Can I ask, what volume developer should I use? I have balayage and I'm a bit scared to use the 20 Vol on my virgin brown hair, but need to tone my blonde balayage which starts a couple of inches down... Should I use a 10 Vol with my toner? Thanks!

liza C.: Your video was done so well!! I learned quite a lot from watching it

unfoldyourselfnow vlog: oh my goodness, i just want to thank you for your videos! you are so talented and such a great educator, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us, you kick ass!!!

Elle: The picture on the left on 00:08 is amazing, does anyone know where to find that picture? The finished look was stunning but I'm in love with the look that inspired her

Rosie C: I was curious - I did the 6t6n redken ShEq on my 9t9v hair as a sombre smudge root - not only did it not come out the color yours did but it was not a soft transition it was a very harsh and after washing it out I don't know what happened but it toned there length of my hair a very gray so I had like a dark gray roots and a gray and have you ever had that happen? And could this be because my hair was recently bleached and is very porous? We have the same natural color (very close match) mine is a shoulderlength A-line bob where yours is very long and probably has been blonde a long time. Sorry really wanted to ask. I was convinced the combination would go smooth being that we have the same blonde color so I figured the same route color would look almost identical but to my surprise it did not. Just curious :)

Just my style: the end result is stunning looks awesome

Rocio H: I like how you Explain and Your Videos its all the information we need Great Job

Natalie Soudani: I have a question. I went to the hair dresser and wanted to get this exact effect, however, it turned out quite brassy for my taste, somewhat like the picture before. I really want to neutralize the brassiness. Will I get a successful result if I only use the toner? Btw. gorgeous result!

lotusblossom6884: How do you use the 9P toner? Do you put it on wet hair? How long does it need to stay in the hair before getting rinsed out?

zelofskeau: This is so gorgeous ! Did you use straight 9p ? Or did you add clear or anything else ?

nicole osullivan: Ok. So one of my favorite color lines is redken color gels. My only beef is its consistency. So I was thrilled to discover your little wondra trick. I tried it today and it made the color not work at all. Barely any of her grey was covered. What did I do wrong? Can it only be used with shades? Is there a certain mixing ratio I should have used?

aneht lombardo: I'm a Cosmo student I bleached my level 2 virgin hair with redken up to 7 and it came out like a brassy orange so I toned it with the shades eq 8n gloss and it still has orange tones! What can I add to it from shades eq to remove orange tones ?

Tina Rodriguez: Beautiful work

Viohleta: Looks amazing oh my gosh

Mieze Björk: Hi dear! Could you tell me what colour you had on your hair on the 'before' photo, before you changed it into fall sombre? Bc it looks sooo great! :) :)

Rain: I am LOVING the 09P!

Brenda B: looks awesome!!!

Kaity Emick: +Alexis Mae How much Wondra do you add to your color mixture??? That is one of the BEST tips I have ever heard! Going to be a total game changer!!

Iris T: Can the toner be used alone to tone a previous balayage hair? As a touch up to keep the brassy out and the ashy in?

lisa docherty: I want this colour its beautiful x

Jennifer Badillo: I'm going to do this on my hair, I've had a "balayage" that went bad about four weeks ago, but if I can't get the Redken toner what else can I use? P.S: I'm from Mexico

Britt xo: omg gorgeous!!! do you use olaplex with toner as well?

Ro Sharp: do you find that this technique makes harsh lines near the root area? do you avoid that by painting with a lighter hand near the root area? do you use a darker toner in the root area?

Sherliana Bethia: amazing work love it

katkatkat25 katkatkat25: omg this is incredible :)

Tiffany Childs: New sub here and on Instagram. This is beautiful!!!

Rachel Moen: for the igora royal line do you have to use the corresponding developer with it? Will it make a difference? Or can you use a different developer

Lori F: Really pretty!

Terri Root: This type of change is what I have been trying for the last 2 years through 3 colorists! I am a natural maybe 7 ashblonde but each attempt has faded in less than a week to goldish reddish brass. So discouraging! I am close to giving up on the dream!

Rain: I di this same technique on my sombreed bruntettes Love it.

Gina Crisci: Omg that toner took all that brass out. I have a rooted ombré in my hair and I need this toner.

Paula Ann: could you use the toner without the processing solution or is it necessary to mix both? thank you xx

taniaguerrero2: Omg!!! You have got to be the best I've ever seen on you tube I love your videos amazing artist..keep up the excellent work subscriber for life :-)

Danielle R: Great video! Did you do that technique to all of her hair? Or did you leave some hair out?

Gisel Garcia: I love it!!!!!

Stacy Holland: when you add the shades in the middle of your "V" is it a problem if some of the bleach bleeds into it?

Kim Recella: Gorgeous!!

Francesca 86: I used Redken shades 09p to neutralize brassy/red hair after bleaching, but it didn’t work what do you think could have gone wrong?

nelida kiss: beautiful, good work.

Ryan Green: what Wella or ion products would you recommend to substitute? (my beauty school only carries those) My clients hair is exactly like the before, color treated in salon. however she wants around a 4n base.

Keely Newman: While processing, do you apply heat?

Sun Soul: LOVE this!

Anabel Garcia: Love It!

Ana C. :): Finally a left handed stylist as meeee!

Rachel Mclean: Can you do a video on how to neutralize brassy blonde at home!

Steven Michael: Nice work. I wish I could've seen a front view.

viv: what color board do you use for balayage?

Jen Salmons: My dream hair style and color❤️

Amie Sanchez: OMG I love it too!

Kamila Wright: Hi! I used a color remover and now my hair is orange/ brown do u think I can use the same toner on my hair even though no is blonde? Or can u please suggest me a good toner for light brown/ orange hair? Thank u

2T: Amazing work .

Becca B: Gorgeous!!

Connie Suther: beautiful work

thuyphuong nguyen: after you applied shades eq o9p how long you leave in there?

stacie cook: love! did u do very thin foils on top?? I think the top and front is where I have trouble ..

Danin Pene: How long did you leave the toner on for?

Ver Rau: Can anybody here help me? I used 30 oz Shades EQ09p + 60 oz processing solution - and left it in for only 5 minutes and my highlights went from BLONDE to BROWN!! Now my highlights are completley gone because they are brown like the rest of my hair! :-(( Please help - can anybody tell me what I did wrong?

Dancesisters1: It looked like you were skipping sections throughout. Did you just leave those out or did you go back through and paint those the base color? Love this video!!

Jade A: Beautiful! This is how i want my hair but i have pretty dark brown hair so i dont know if it can get to that ashy blonde color i want... Will i need to dye it the orange-er color first before i can ever get to that blonde color?

fab: I want my hair like this so bad

Miriam Rios: i am a cosmo student trying to get this effect on myself. . my natural hair is about a level 3 but i have reddish tone ends about a level 4 due to some residual bleaching and covering with a manic panic type red color.. im not sure steps i should follow are the same since i need to lighten roots too.. i hope u can answer i will also be consulting my teacher but she's so busy I'd like to get a second opinion before i botch up my hair again. thanks! !

vanessa ruiz: HIII PLEASE HELP! I wanted a nice balayage that would lighten up my hair (my hair is dark brown) however after 200 bucks I ended up with a orange looking ombre that is practically up to my roots! I chose a different stylist however how do I tell her to do this to me?? I want some of my brown back and I want it to bend nicely :-(

Serin Han: How much would it be for that hair? I'm debating whether or not if I should get it done

bebe K: Oh, god so beautiful

Manar Elkhatib: honestly this is 100% more beautiful than the inspired pic but what is the color that you used on the roots ???
