Hey everybody in today's video I'm going to be showing you how I style my hair and hair extensions for those of you who are new to my channel. You may not know I do wear hair extensions and currently I am wearing the Donna, Bella tape and extensions which I have been absolutely loving. The number one thing that I used to struggle with when wearing extensions was not having enough in so I mine go all the way up to around this area here, and I have a full set in, and another thing is the blending of the haircut as well As styling, so I have a blended haircut and then for styling. I usually wear my hair curly just to blend further, but this video, I will be showing you how I style my hair extensions to make sure that they blend with my natural short hair. So my hair has been air drying for about 30 to 40 minutes. I headed up in a Turbie twist towel for probably around 15 minutes, and then I used my leave-in products as well as my heat protectant. So this is what it looks like air dried. So you can see that the extensions themselves are a little bit more dry than my natural hair, and that is mainly because I comb down my natural hair, because I do have such short layers. I want it to lay flat, as opposed to being crazy and showing all of my super short pieces, so whether you have tapered extensions or fusion or any other bonded extensions that are considered semi-permanent. I really do recommend sectioning hair when blow dry. That will ensure that the bond is thoroughly dried as opposed to leaving it slightly wet that can cause damage or slipping Tom is going to be using my blow dryer. This is a fabulous Pro porcelain ceramic blow, dryer that I have been using forever now and then I recommend having a couple Clips, I'm just using these color Trek crocodile clips. So what I want to do is start at the bottom and work my way up. So I'm just going to be taking it from like the ear sectioning and going straight across and then lifting this is high up as I can and I, but you sort of twist it and then clip it so that I am left with this section here. I had probably around two or three layers in this area, so I'm going to first start to apologize this and I'm just going to be going in a downward motion making sure to thoroughly dry, the very top where the bond is, as well as the extension itself And I do have mine on me: hot and high heat sanding just make sure not to get too close to the body, because that can actually melt the bond also, and once I have that first section dry. I just take down my clips and section off again. Usually, I only do two or three sections just depending on how damp my hair still is. It is starting to dry pretty fast, so I'm just going to section about eyebrow level, and this will be my last sectioning. So again you just want to make sure that you are lifting up the hair in the back, so you can really get that bond dry in that second layer, and once I have this section here, I clip one on top and then I will clip this area Here up with another clip and then same on the other side, then once you have that section dry, you can go ahead and let down your clips and drive the rest of you and once my hair feels fully dry. But I know it more than likely is in every spot. What I like to do is take my blow-dryer: keep it on the high setting and hit that cold shot button. This will be able to tell you where those damp spots are because they will become cooler, and it is easier to tell if something is still damp when it is cooler rather than too warm. So that is what I'm gon na do so once I have done that, I can usually tell where the damp spots are and right now, I'm feeling slightly damp areas right in the very back, so I'm gon na go in on the Hat and high heat setting Again, just to fully dry my hair. Now that my hair is fully dry, I am going to be just brushing out with a paddle brush, but I do recommend making sure that before he styling that your hair is completely dry, 100 % of the way. If you leave it even slightly damp anywhere, those spots will more than likely frizz throughout the day, so you just want to make sure that you are fully drying your hair before doing any sort of heat styling. So with extensions and especially short layers when your natural hair is short like mine - and you can see here that this is where my natural hair is and then on the top. I have short layers and the easiest way to blend shorter hair and shorter layers in with long extensions is to curl the hair. You can wear it straight if you want, but I tend to find that it is harder to blend. So this is the curling iron that I use. I believe it is a one-inch and I can't find the brands on it, but I believe I got a at Cosmo Prof, but this is just like a standard, curling iron that you can basically get at any beauty supply store, and I keep mine and the heat Setting of 17 typically, I just find that that is a good start. For me, it does go all the way up to 25. So 17 is almost right in that middle area. So I'm just going to be letting that heat up and then taking my section and I'm basically going to be doing the same sectioning that I did for blow-drying my hair. What I like to do after sectioning is split the hair right down the middle and bring it to the front, and I usually do two or three curls on each side. To start, I'm going to be taking a little bit from the back here. This is usually about the sectioning that I do, I would say, around 1 or 2 inch sectioning and I'm going to be holding it away. It'S still trying to hold on to my natural hair that is in there as well, because you also want to be curling. Your natural hair, with the extensions that helps it to blend a whole lot better, I'm going to be taking my flat iron and positioning to click part on the outer part, and that is going to bring the curls away. From my face, I like to start at the very top and gently roll down twist once let it sit for a second open up that clamp roll down twist and then repeat that until I get to the very end for a more relaxed curl is once I Get to the end, I keep it the ends in the clamp at the bottom, and then I untwist it and then gently roll down so that the ends are nice and smooth, and that just gives it more of a loose curl feel as opposed to being too Ringlets, like just want to make sure that curling away from the face you want the clip to be on the outer part, clip it roll it and hold undo that a little roll down fold all the way to the bottom and, as you can see, I do Have a little bit hanging out probably about an inch, and I leave that for the very end. So I just like to roll all the way down, unravel that, while still holding at the bottom and then roll it on through again, I'm just going to go about. Eyebrow level and go all the way around and I'm going to be doing three sections again, so I'm just going to split it down the back and then grab all of the straight hair, leaving that curly part down and then again I'm going to start in the Back taking another section and doing the exact same thing and for this middle section, what I like to do once I get to the middle of the section on each side is keep the clamp on the back part. So the opposite that you have been doing, and I like to roll one forward. This just ensures that not all of my curls are going to run into each other throughout the day. You can alternate throughout the whole thing. If you want, I usually only tend to do a couple curls on each side that are going this way and then once I get toward the face again, I'm just going to be going away from my face top section. I'M just going to be it letting it down and, like I said I do have quite short layers on top, so I like to make sure that I am curling my short layers with the last bit of the hair extensions like you can see here. My layers are quite short compared to these ones, so I'm going to start in the front this time and take a small section and, like I said, I want to incorporate my hair with some of the extension here. So I'm going to hold it up and away from my face and then do the exact same thing making sure to curl my hair with the extensions just like that, and then I usually like to comb through to blend right away. So it does not get too curly and crazy, and I just do this all throughout that top section of my hair and I like to just take my fingers to comb through each of those sections. I'Ve seen people, especially with clip-ins. They will curl the hair and then clip it in when it's already curled in their own hair, and that is fine if you do have longer hair. But if you have short hair like me and you're, trying to wear munkar extensions, I really do recommend styling your hair with the extension here. That also obviously goes for when you have more permanent type extensions. It just blends everything a lot better and once everything is in place, what I like to do is spray my hair, so I will get the front area like this and then lift this area away from my face and spray a little bit there just to blend. My natural hair, in with the extensions and to make sure that that stays in place, so here is my hair after everything is styled. What I like to do is just take a little bit toward the front, and then I do like to leave a little bit in the back like this just so it none of my natural hair shows and then throughout the day. I just kind of do this. Just to make sure that everything is blending in so I hope this video was helpful for anybody that was struggling with extension wear or having trouble blending in their extensions. This is what has been working for me for a while now and I have been wearing my hair curled as opposed to straight just to really make sure everything is nice and blended. clipinqueen: Hi Sara; Love your videos. I agree with everything you have said here. I would just say that you could go higher up on your head to blend your short hair even more. It still looks a bit choppy. When I had shorter hair, I wore skin wefts or I cut lace closures and put the pieces right up near my hair line. It looked great. Thanks again.
