How To Detangle Hair Extensions & Prevent Tangles | Instant Beauty ♡

Hey Beauty!

In this video, Sam shows us how to detangle hair extensions and shows us how to prevent tangles in the future.

To detangle your extensions (clip in hair extensions/clip on hair extensions) or your own hair (since these methods are great for your hair as well), DO NOT try to brush out your extensions with a brush or a comb - this will damage your extensions causing breakage and shedding. Instead, follow these steps:

1. Use a detangler - You can use a detangler product or a leave in conditioner. Both products add moisture back into the hair allowing the tangles to be brushed out much easier. We recommend Infusium 23 leave in conditioner or Johnsons & Johnsons detangler for kids. These products are both drugstore, easy to find and inexpensive.

2. Once you have sprayed the detangler/leave in conditioner, gently comb out the tangles with a wide toothed comb starting from the bottom.

3. Big knots - For large knots, use a tail comb to help break through the tangles. Be gentle!

4. Condition - If you have used lots of detangler/leave in conditioner and/or it is time to wash your extensions, be sure to use sulfate free products. When you apply conditioner, you may want to leave the conditioner on for a few minutes and brush through the extensions with a wide toothed comb.

How to Prevent Tangles:

1. Brush your hair/hair extensions often

2. Before you apply your extensions, brush them gently with a wide toothed comb

3. After taking out your extensions, brush them gently with a wide toothed comb

4. When washing, use sulfate free products. Leave conditioner on for a few minutes and brush extensions with a wide toothed comb

Hey beauties, this is sad from instant beauty, so sometimes your extensions might get a little bit tangle II and I'm going to show you how to detangle a really big knot. This is, you know pretty bad example. These extensions, where at the bottom of my drawer, probably about ten years old, but I just going to show you how to detangle them. So I mean your extensions shouldn't get this tangled. But sometimes you know if you're wearing a lot of hairspray or it's particularly windy or you know you haven't, really been taking care of them too. Well, you might come into this problem, so the things you don't want to do is yank the tangles out with a brush or really fine-tooth comb, because this will damage the extensions. So what you want to do is use some sort of detangler or leave-in conditioner and work out the knots with the wide toothed comb, and then you can condition them. This are actually really great tips to use for your own hair, not just for extensions. So one of my favorite products to use is enthusiam 23 and it's pretty inexpensive available at the drugstore or Walmart and and it's just a leave-in conditioner it's so it's good to use on your hair and it's safe to use on the extensions I feel like it's. It works very well and it really gets the tangles out. Another option is the Johnson and Johnson detangler it's actually made for children, but it's also another very inexpensive option and it works great okay. So today, I'm just going to use the Johnson and Johnson all you do just lightly spray and with a wide tooth comb start from the bottom and work the tangles. This way make sure you're, gentle and you're not ripping anything out. If you have a particularly big knot, as I found one, it's a good idea to use a tail comb and you can just sort of work through the knots this way and you're ripping out less hair this way so for both products, you can leave it in You don't have to wash it out depending on how bad the tangles were and how much you applied. If you did apply a lot, you can wash them with a very good conditioner and shampoo. Something sulfate free is usually really good to use on extension. Okay, so in terms of prevention, what you want to do is make sure that every night after you take your extensions out, make sure you do comb out any of the tangles. If you need to use the detangler, you can use it or if you need to wash your hair, you can again apply the sulfate free, shampoo and conditioner, and if your extensions are in bad shape, you might want to leave the accept the conditioner on for a Little bit longer and you can even comb out the extensions with the conditioner on it. This is also a really great way to keep them nice and soft and get all the tangles out. Then, when you want to store them, be sure to again comb them out with the wide toothed comb and store them in a flat space, so that there's no tangling, we actually have another video on how to store your extensions properly. So if you're interested in that, you can click here. Ok guys, that's about it! Hopefully you guys day tangle-free. If you have any questions you can comment below and if you're new please subscribe. Thanks guys see you later yeah
