Hey guys welcome back today's video is going to be how to make your own halo hair extension. Now, as most of you guys know, I wear hair extensions and I worn just about like every type of hair extension. So, a couple years ago I saw like the trend of halo, hair extensions and I was like. Oh my god. I really want to try one out because currently I was wearing clip-in hair extensions, which are great, but they can be time-consuming to put in and they are kind of damaging to your scalp, like I have some bald spots going on from just years of wearing clip-in Hair extensions. So when I was looking at the halo hair extensions, they were like a couple hundred dollars more than just a regular clip in hair extensions and I'm like okay, that kind of sucks. But then I'm like you know what I could probably make this myself. So I figured out how to make it myself and I currently make them myself. I just made this one the other day, so I wanted to walk you guys through how I do it, so I can save you guys some money. If you were interested in trying out a halo hair extension, don't forget to subscribe to my channel hit the like button and the notification bell down below and without further ado. If you guys like to find out how to make your own halo hair extension, then just keep watching ok. So before I get started, I just want to mention. I'M gon na walk you through step-by-step on how to make this, but unfortunately I don't have another set of hair extensions to actually show you guys how to make it. I did make this a couple weeks ago, but when I walk you guys through on how to make it and show you guys what I do, it's so simple that I wouldn't need to like actually physically show you so I figured. I would just mention that if I had another set of hair extensions lying around that you know I could use for this video. That would be great, but that would also require me spending probably another 100. You know 28 140 dollars, which I don't want to do, but I promise you guys it's super easy to do this. So, let's begin with what you're going to need to make your halo hair extension and it really is very inexpensive - and this is what's worked for me. So the first thing that you're gon na need is kind of this, and I'm gon na link this down below. Because I bought this off Amazon website, but it's like this stretchy, like elastic material, I feel like when you know, I feel like you'd, find this probably on like pants like on the band's or whatever like when they make it to sew it. But it's just just like stretchy material and what this is going to do is kind of help to come your head and allow a little bit of like elasticity, and you know a little bit of stretch because I know well. I believe that halo, hair extensions might have this material, I'm actually not sure, but for me um this works for me and also too, you want to have something to sew the actual web sub hair onto so, instead of just using a regular piece of fabric, I Found that the stretchy bands material works the best. So again I will link this down below, but honestly you guys you could probably find this at a craft store like Joanne's or Hobby Lobby or something along those lines. So the next thing that you're going to need sounds crazy, but it really works is fishing line. So this is what's going to be like across your crown area and you're, not going to see it laying across your head - and this is so cheap. You guys and the first time I went and bought this. I bought the ten pounds, but then I went back about the 25 pounds. It'S up to you. You know the amount that you want to buy. I would recommend anything over ten pounds just because this is going to be hanging from your head, so you want something that's going to be durable and lasts, and I've used the 25 pounds. I wear my halo almost every single day and it doesn't break at all. So fishing wire is what you were going to need. Now I got this at Walmart and, like the fishing section you guys can get this anywhere. You could probably get it at Dick's. It might be. You know a little bit more expensive if you get it a dick, so I would just recommend, probably like Walmart or Amazon again, because you can get anything from Amazon and then obviously you're going to need hair, whether it be a weft of hair. I actually purchased this hair at Sally beauties, it's the satin strands and it comes in like a really long, whacked, it's 120 grams, I believe, hundred ten 120 grams, and this actually made it easier for me for sewing it on. But my older halo that I made, like I don't know, probably seven or eight months ago, that what I did was. I just took all the clips out of my Bellamy, hair extensions and then I just sewed it on as Wes. So it's personal preference. If you have a set of clip-in hair extensions and you can just take the clips out and then you can just sew on the West to this. But if you guys are looking for something a little easier, I would just try to find. Maybe a whole weft, I know a Sally beauties, they do sell the weft air scent the satin strands, they're. Actually, a pretty good brand. Before I was getting into Bellamy. The satin strands is what I actually bought from Sally beauties and I would say it's pretty comparable to Bellamy and some other brands and it's a little bit cheaper. So it's just personal preference. So this was a whole long web that I just sewed on to the elastic stretchy band and then the last things that you're going to need and again you can get this at Sally Beauty. That'S what I would recommend or Amazon. If you don't have a Sally beauty near you, you're going to need thread or strain and you're gon na want to have it be a similar color to the actual hair itself. So, since the hair that I'm doing is blonde, I got this kind of like topi, yellow color thread and then you're going to need this needle. But it's not sharp like I can go like this. It'S not sharp at all. It'S actually meant for like sewing in like weaves or whatever hair related. I bought this at Sally Beauty. I know they sell them there, I'm not sure exactly what you would call them, but again like I would check, selling beauties or even Amazon. It'S just gon na be a you know like a needle that doesn't have like a sharp end. You probably could use one with a sharp end, but you're gon na be like like when you're doing this you're gon na, be like touching your fingers that everything like that so like. I know that this will definitely go in my fingers when I'm like sewing it. In that's why you know get anyone, that's not sharp is the best, but you could probably try one. That'S you know sharp it. Just you really got to be careful and then basically you know what you're gon na want to do is kind of just put it through the really elongated hole. It can be kind of tricky to do and it might be a little gross. But I put the thread in my mouth to wet it, and then I find that it does go through a little bit easier and then you're, obviously gon na need scissors as well. Okay, so step one is you're gon na want to take your stretchy band and you're, basically just gon na want to put it to where you want the halo to sit now mine - usually I have go to about here, but some halos like that. I see that are sold by different brands like theirs will go to like here. So I like to have my go pretty much as far up as possible and then I put my hair over it and then you know the fishing line is all that will be visible. So it's really personal preference and that's what's great when you make it yourself, because again, you can kind of customize it to your liking. For me, what I do is I kind of like measure to like about there, I'm like my higher crown area, and then I cut it there. So it's like probably about this lawn but again just measure it to your own head and then whatever you prefer. If you don't want it to be, you know, sitting up here, you just want it to be in the back. If you already have like you know a decent amount of hair in front you're, just doing it more for length, then you can certainly make it shorter. For me, I want the whole effect, so I make it a little bit longer, but then the next thing that you're gon na do is basically you're going to be sewing on the west to the elastic band, as you can see that I've done here now, I Did both sides of the elastic bands, but you can just do one side. I think that if you do, you know if you Sol, if you sew X on both sides, I think it just looks better and it's it's evenly distributed on the elastic band. Basically, what I did is, I lay this flat because I didn't have the fishing line on it yet and then, once you get the thread through this needle honestly, you guys this is all you're gon na do you're, just gon na be showing the hair wefts on To the elastic band and you're, just gon na keep going and keep going, and I don't know if you guys if it's gon na pick up on camera, but you can see you know everything that I've leaved in to the elastic band. It'S super easy or literally just going in and out and in and out in, like circular motions, just making sure that the weft sticks onto the elastic band and that's it so once I did one row then I did one row on the inside and then I Kind of doubled it up, it just depends to what kind of thickness you're going for for me. I don't need it like super super thick. This is 110 grams, so this works for me. But if you you know, if you want less than that, that's perfectly fine. As well, it's just whatever your personal preference is, so I basically used all the hair that came in the pack and just sewed it on the inside and on the outside. Now, once you have all the hair so to the white elastic band, then it's time to add the fishing wire in basically, what I did was I tied one end of this fishing wire to the end of like the elastic band, and I kinda just you know, And this is I'm gon na put the hail on and show you what I mean, but basically I had the fishing line on one. I had the fishing line tied to like right there and then I kind of just guesstimated, where it would where I wanted it to end where the other side of the elastic band ended and then I held it and I cut it. But I cut it a little bit longer because I know when I tie it, you know it's obviously gon na be shorter, so I left a little room to tie it, but this can be a little bit of trial and error, but that's basically what you're gon Na do you're gon na want to tie the fishing line to one end of the elastic band, and you might even be honestly tying it to like the string that you sewed in or getting it to sit or you can poke it through the elastic band. But you just want to get it to sit in there. I have it hanging as you guys can see. I have it hanging from the string, but then you're just gon na kind of want to measure out and tie it and then you might have to you know, put it on your head and then, if it feels like it's too big or too loose, then you Might have to customize it feels too tight. You might have to tie another piece of fishing line around so it might take a couple tries. I know I look weird like this. It might take a couple tries but yeah, and that's obviously how I learned, but once you get it to the way you want it to fit, then it's fine, so that I wanted to mention can be a little bit of trial and error and that's basically it You guys now the last thing that I want to mention, and I know that you don't see it on halo, hair extensions, but I like to do it just so it's a little bit more secure. Is I like to take the clips that are that come from hair extensions and I sew two clips in just so they'll clip and kind of like on the sides in the back? Just so it's more secure. I don't know if you guys can see that right. There but I sewed them in right there. So, basically, the clips are like right there in the past. I'Ve had clips in the back, but I find that putting them like here. It doesn't get as Maddie in the back, because the hair extensions can get Maddie which we're trying to avoid. So I kind of showed the clips more in here and you know just set them in just so. It'S a little bit more secure. It'S not like. It'S really damaging my hair. It'S not like. I have a million clips going through my head, but I like to do that. But again you honestly don't need to have the clips in it's just for me and for what I prefer. I do prefer to have at least two clips in and if you do choose to do the clip, it's the same concept, guys it's so easy, you just art, literally weaving it in and out and weaving it in and out, and then you tie it to secure It it's like sewing 101, it's not hard at all and again like I apologize that I couldn't exactly show you it, but it's super easy you guys it does take. I want to say this can take. You know a couple hours to do, but I just watch TV while I'm doing it and you guys it's so simple and again this cost me like $ 120, pretty much. What that the hair cost is what it costs to make, and these go for. Like 300 400, I oh I've seen them like cheap. If you get them cheaper. I'Ve seen them like around like 250 $ 300, but I've seen them at $ 400 $ 450. So you're saving yourself a lot of money. If you do it yourself, and nobody knows that I did it myself, nobody even knows I'm we're gon na halo, hair extension. You can't tell with the fishing wire - and it's really easy - there's probably other tutorials - actually there's not too many tutorials on how to make like your own halo, hair extension too. So that's why I want to share this video guide. So let me know if you guys have halo, hair extensions or I've tried halo, hair extensions before and if you're thinking of maybe trying to make your own again, it's not that hard. You guys. If I can do it, you can do it anyways. That is it for this video. I hope you guys liked it, and I hope you have a wonderful week and I will see you in my next video bye

Jenna Jordan: Suggestions/notes: The elastic you showed in this video is a “knitwear” elastic, it’s called different names but the the key is to purchase a KNIT elastic as you’d be surprised how many different types of elastic are out there. I do a lot of sewing so I thought it might be helpful to you and your viewers to know what to search or look for when purchasing materials. There is also a clear/or semi transparent elastic usually available anywhere sewing supplies are sold that might work well for this kind of application. On another note: Thank you for making this video! I used to wear clip in extensions whenever I wanted to level up on my look for special occasions. Eventually I took the plunge and got the tape in extensions. My natural hair color is very light blonde which saves me a lot of money others have to spend on coloring their hair. However, naturally blonde hair is fragile, tends to be on the thinner side and grows slowly. Then there is the shade changes that come with season changes— being a swimmer/surfer/sun-loving person shows as my hair gets anywhere from a shade to three shades lighter in the Spring + Summer. By the Winter holidays my hair gets darker. Never really thought about it until I started wearing extensions. For years I was able to afford to get my extensions matched, applied, and reapplied every 7-8 weeks at the hair salon. My budget doesn’t afford me that privilege anymore; so I have been doing all my beauty care myself. I have all mg tape-ins prepped with new tape strips for application but I have been looking for a less time consuming option. I first saw the halo extensions on an episode of Real Housewives of Dallas, when one of the women pulled her halo off before jumping into freezing water while on vacation in the Scandinavian region. I searched for years online trying to find what I saw n tv, but i couldn’t find it until a year or so ago an add for a halo extension product came up in Pinterest. The options weren’t great for my color and too expensive for me. I have been thinking about making them myself so I could blend the different shades of hair to match my natural highlights and make a variety of combinations to solve the seasonal color issue.your video gave me the confidence to just go for it! Full disclosure: I haven’t read all the comments so it’s possible that others have made the suggestions/or gave the info. I mentoned hete. I apologize for the redundancy if that is the case.

Galicey: Idea popped in while watching this: Sew in small fitting hooks into the band so you can make it adjustable. Choose how tight or loose you need it for the hair style you’re goin for

Snakecrossing: Thanks for all the tips! The first time I saw halo hair extensions it got me thinking that this is something I can make from my old clip-on extensions. Instead of the elastic band I cut a strip from old stockings

sparkling231: Thanks for this great tutorial. I'll give this a go. I normally wear the clip-in type extensions which are great, but as my hair is quite thin, I'm always conscious the clips are visible unless my hair at the roots (where the clips attach) is backcombed to the hilt. I think halo would be ideal for me. I love your idea. I've spent a fortune on hair extensions over the years, but can't live without them, lol. Thank you pretty girl.

Christina Espitia: Thank you so much. I have been trying to find a solution to my recent hair loss and I’ve tried clip ins, micro beads, wigs, and nothing is working for me. There has been a downside to all options thus far. Now, I have all of these hair extensions that match my hair perfectly, finally, I can use your tutorial to try this as an option. I appreciate you doing this. ♥️

Pam Fay: Hey! Awesome vid!! I make my own with the rubbery glue and use stretchy clear wire only thing the stretchy wire if it’s too tight may get some breakage on top if not super careful. My hairs pretty good but like really long sometimes I just glue the wefts then add the stretchy wire and tie it on both sides but add a a drop of super glue to hold the ties. I can’t wear the clips they hurt so badddd but just an easy way to do fast with the glue. Your awesome!!

Irene Dechene: I made my own abt 16 yrs ago just with fishing thread..nothing else I wore it for yrs..I loved it plus I made Bangs too.

Jessica IsHere: Great video gorgeous ~ btw You can buy clear bead string at Walmart for only 2$. Its stretchy & works amaazing..! works way better then fishline. Also I agree that the clip in ones are soo much cheaper in price, so I actually started buying the clip in ones.. Only to cut the clips off & turn them into halo ones. It takes some time, sewing etc but I can customize them to fit me perfectly. I’d much rather wear Couture over one size. Great video & your so gorgeous

Janelle Brown: Wow! Why didn't I see this sooner? Thank you for this! I'm curious if you have came up with any new ideas a far as these go? Also, any suggestions on color? Trying to find a color to do my natural hair so that when I dye my halo (blue, purple, etc..)it will be a color that goes with them all. I was thinking brown maybe even blackI'm more of a warm color not the colors.

Lisa Lewis: thank you so much for this video I've been wearing clip in hair extensions and sew in hair extensions off and on for like 25-26 years now and I'm starting to get really thin air and even a couple of really bad bald spots from all of that so I wanted to go figure out how to make my own halo hair and your video was the first one I clicked on and the one I am using and it's awesome thank you so much for saving my own hair!!!

pabost10: Thank you so much for this video. I have some beautiful quality tape in extensions that I couldn't tolerate and I am so pleased to have found this because I can now use them to make a halo, which should irritate me far less. I'll update when I'm done! Thank you!

Brianna Marie: Going to try this!!! Thanks for the idea and help !

peyton j: Everything that you post is so relevant to me. Lol I just bought a topper because of how much you liked yours, which I love! And then I had been thinking about trying to make a halo extension to go with my topper so now I guess I have to! Lol

andria.baunee: Great video! Could you sew the hair weft on with the fishing line? What about using a sewing machine to attach the hair to the elastic?

Ashlie Dozal: thank you!!!! definitely trying this tomorro when my hair comes in

Pamela Lavato: Yes I have on them and I love them and I love your video I am going to try it I hope it works out because I just love the way they look thank you

Raechelyn Dawn: I've been making my own for years. I don't use the elastic band. I sew two wefts together and thread the fishing wire in between the two pieces. I then layer my final piece.

Heather Henson: A C needle is way quicker and use fishing pliers for pulling thru. Sew your clips on with the fishing line! It never breaks!

Pink Foxy: Did you ever use the hidden crown halo or was it always the ones you made? If you did is this one as good as the hidden crown halo?

Sophia L: this was so helpful thankyou! is the fishing wire metal or plastic? xx

Anamika Khan: You just saved me a HELL ALOT OF MONEY❤️

hipretty: Without the clips, they seem like they can pop up and off. Good idea adding the clips!

GAMER GIRL MARS: What size of the elastic did you buy? Thanks! The one inch or the smaller 0.75 one?

iamk0ala: I’m going to use this while my hair is growing out

Renfri Kusikepa: Cool, my friend ... Really presents interesting content .. I am waiting for your next video and God bless us.

Maryana F: Does the fishing wire hurt on your head after a few hours and leave a line spot on your head ? Thank you for your video

Kathleen Elvir: Thanks for the video saved me a lot of money. One thing I wanna add is please don't buy hair extensions from Sally's just go to your local hair supply I know a lot of them tend to be in the "ghetto" but I've been a million times and I promise guys, you will save money and they usually have higher quality ones. My two favorite hair supply stores are actually Asian owned and aren't in the nice part of town but AMAZING and affordable. One set of curly ones I've had for a year and it still looks great.

Regina Sturgeon: You look like Barbie!! You are adorable. Thanks for the video.

borealis ap: I love that you said guesstimated. Not even a word but my grandparents always used to say that

BABS: That's super crafty

dreadthedays says: I have seen my own extensions and I had 100% the same idea. Too bad my natural hair color is the most rare harcolor so... Yupp. It is an odd ash blond with very little red, yellow or blue at all. Inhsve never found an extension to match. I am legit currently growing it out to cut and sew

Christy Platt: I can't sew my extensions on the elastic band. I bought the needle for it and it won't go through weft or elastic band.

Mariah Moore: Hi Ashley, what size fishing line did you order on Amazon? 12, 15, 20, 15, 30 pound?

CS Richardson: The needle is a tapestry or yarn needle.

Rett Caron: Are you selling them?

Mvd Punto es: Me ha encantado pero no te entiendo nada . Subtítulos español !!! Por favor

Lauren Haley: How many grams is in that halo?

fab or fail: Oh shit.... she just made my life.... that shits getting sewed in

Bella: what made you go back to clip in extentions now vs the halo?

holo bittersweet: Finally a video!

Angelica Champagne: Would you ever consider doing this for me if I sent you the hair and paid you?

Whitney Decker: You're stunning

Gabriel Perez: ❤️

This is Jenn: thank you thaaank yoou!!!

Giulia Zin: Wire thiknes the fish line?please i ma italiano ❤️

Jeanette Dombroski: Oh my gosh you could make them for people.

Richa Elizabeth: ‍♀️

ChloeBrbnk: is that human hair? :)

Abdo zeinoun Z: I like

Katalin Botar: My dream is to make this but with fake dreadlocks. Would that be possible?

Karen Prado: You never put it ON!!!

Lucinda Wynn: You talk way too much, just get to the point
