Hey guys, it's a Reba and I'm back with another tutorial for you guys so today we're gon na be dyeing my hair extensions from blonde to black. So I dyed my hair black about five months ago and I've officially decided that this is probably going to be a permanent thing. So I'm slowly transitioning a lot of my favorite hair pieces, clip-ins and hair extensions to match my natural hair color. So when I was in the salon for about 12 years, I stabbed majority of the time being a colorist, and I worked with a lot of hair extensions at the time. So I've learned a lot of tips and tricks to dyeing my hair extensions and to actually make it last so most of the products I'm going to be using today you can get at your local beauty supply outlet. You don't need to be a professional hairdresser to get your hands on these products, we're going to start with a level 6 red gold, and for this step you can use either a semi-permanent or a permanent hair dye, I'm going in with a permanent and I'm using One ounce of the color two ounces of ten volume peroxide. This formula is going to work just fine, even if you have platinum blonde hair extensions. My hair extensions are at about a level. Eight blonde. Just make sure your hair extensions are real hair. If it's synthetic hair, it will melt during this process and I'm gon na go ahead and just dampen the hair extensions just so our application is nice and even for this step, squeeze out all of the access water, because you don't want to dilute your hair color And because our hair extensions are nice and damp, we can just go ahead and apply the hair dye with our hands. So you're just going to take a big blob in the middle of your palm and just kind of work it in the extensions from the top. All the way to the bottom kind of like you're, applying hair, conditioner or hair mask. So it's really important that we dye our hair extensions, a shade of red first, because if you skip this step and go directly to the darker hair dye you're going to end up with green or blue hair extensions in the hairdressing world, we call this the filler. So this is the filler color and it's basically putting back the missing pigment in the blond hair, which is red and we're just going to let that hang out for about 30 minutes and as soon as it's done, processing you'll see that it looks a little bit. Darker, but it looks really nice and rich, and you want to make sure that you rub it around and make sure you didn't miss any spots at this point and then you're just gon na go ahead and run it through some lukewarm water, and you want to Treat this just like you, would your own hair and just rinse out all of the hair color as much as you can and then we're just gon na go in with one round of color, safe shampoo and you can skip the conditioner for this step just quickly. Rinse out the hair color and the shampoo and the water is going to run red right now, but I wouldn't worry about it too. Much just make sure all of the color is out and then we're gon na go ahead and blot it dry on a towel and yes, your towels most likely will stain. But don't worry. It usually just comes out in the washing machine, and you want to make sure that you detangle your entire piece from the bottom all the way to the top. If you leave any tangles in your hair extentions, your hair color is not going to be applied evenly and it's gon na leave your hair color, looking really blotchy so make sure you get all of those tangles out and if you don't have a hair extension hanger. A clothes hanger works just fine. I borrowed this from my husband and I'm just gon na hang it on my towel rack, so I'm gon na start at the top of the left, where there's the most layers and it's the thickest, and I want to make sure that I completely dry this left. If you leave any damp spots, you're going to end up with an uneven application, because the hair dye will process differently in the wet spots and in the dry spots. So you can see I'm focusing at the top, because that's where the hair weft is the thickest and just make sure it's completely dry for this next step, and now we're gon na go ahead and go in with our permanent hair dye, I'm going with a level 4N - and this is going to basically neutralize a lot of the red tones in my hair color, but it's still going to keep it nice and warm. So I went in with two ounces of 4n and 4 ounces of 10 volume peroxide, and you want to give it a really really good mix. Make sure that it's nice and combined together and we're gon na go ahead and start applying it. Starting from the of the left, so in this area this is where a lot of the stitching is - and this is where the hair has a lot of the clips. So you can miss a lot of spots in this area, so I suggest, starting at the very top and over saturating your hair color and apply more than you need in this area and really really rub it in, and you want to do that for the front And the back, so you can see I'm lifting each layer and getting the hair color into each and every crevice. If you miss any spots in this area, when you apply the hair extensions, this is the area that shows up on top, so you'll see blotches of different hair colors at the top of your head, and it is not a good look. So make sure you really really take your time in the top area here and then I'm just gon na lay a flat in my tub and start applying the hair color at the front and the back of the weft and with each application. You can see that I'm stopping and I'm really working it in and applying it and making sure that it's completely saturated front and back these hair extensions are about 28 inches. So I have a lot of hair to go through and you can see that by the time I get to the bottom. It'S already oxidizing and turning dark up top. So just try to work as quickly as you can and get it saturated completely. And if you are utilizing, your bathtub, like I am here, make sure as soon as you're done applying the hair color on this left that you've rinsed the hair dye out off of the tub right away, because this will stain your tub. If you do end up staining the tub, it does come off with some Clorox bleach cleaning solution and now we're gon na. Let that hang out for about 45 minutes and as soon as that's done, processing you'll see that the hair extensions are now nice and dark. Nice and rich and you're basically going to treat it just like you, would your own hair. So I'm just rinsing it out with some lukewarm water and trying to get as much of the hair dye out as possible. And then I went in with two applications of shampoo and you just want to really really make sure you get the hair dye out of these. So two shampoos are usually pretty necessary and then I'm gon na go ahead and give it one round of a hair. Conditioner and at this point, if you want to go ahead with a hair mask, this would be a good time to apply the hair mask as well. My hair extensions were barely used and fairly new, so I didn't really feel the need to apply a hair mask and you can see it's all done nice and shiny and dark. So at this point, we're gon na go ahead and spray in a leave-in conditioner to help me detangle and also a thermal spray, because I am going to be heat styling these and now we're gon na go ahead and style these as you would your regular hair. So I'm just removing as much moisture as I can, starting from the top working my way down and just to be safe. I did leave these to hang overnight to dry, just to make sure all of the fabric up top in between the clips was completely dry, and now I'm just running a one-inch wand through all of the extensions I'm curling these in a way that when I apply These into my hair, all of the curls, are gon na, be curled away from my face on both sides and I'm just breaking it up with my fingers, fluffing it up and look how beautiful that looks all done. So this should last quite a while and with just a snap of a finger now my hair is much longer and fuller. You guys can see the color matches perfectly with my natural hair color they blend beautifully. I really hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial. Dante Velasquez: You look SO BEAUTIFUL with your natural hair color!! Going back to it was a great decision!

R C: Gosh your hair looks so divine black! I’ve never coloured my hair (if anything I go blue black because my natural black is soft) ... love it on you!

Fresa: Hi there! I’m wanting to dye tape-in extensions instead of clip in-s. Will the adhesive keep the hair from dyeing and will it show through? Or will the adhesive fall apart?

Shawntae norris: So helpful! Would this process work the same if I were to dye my actual hair from blonde to black? Thanks!!

Toasty Moon: You are a life saver thank you so much!!

marimar zepeda: Hello thank you for this video it is very helpful. I just had a question you said you were going to dye them black but you used a brown color to dye it at the end, I was confused. I just want some guidance bcs I’m thinking about doing it

Teresa Brooke: do you really need extensions with that gorgeous head of hair? thanks for this tutorial v informative

This Little Light of Mine: My favourite channel <3 <3 Just curious, how come you went in with the first colour on damp extensions but the second colour they had to be dry?

Hannah Breadner: How did you use medium brown and it went so dark? Did you dye your natural color the same as your extensions?

Anas Arfi: Could the dye irritates the scalp which is use for extensions?

Kelly: Yasss dark is lovely. It’s easier to manage, shinier, and healthier ( if you natural color is darker that is). My only concern is not to ruin my bathroom. I honestly haven’t dyed my hair in my new bathroom becauSe is afraid it’ll stain or flick somewhere. If I add filler to my blue black permanent dye will that work? This video is right on time

mishal khan: You look lovely

sum sat: how much days it will be last longer

Nishath Imran: Once can you tell the name of that product

Ourdream: Fiiirst
