Hi!

This video is all about How to steam iron your weave or hair extensions. I made this video as many of my clients always ask me how I get hair to flat iron out so nicely and last so long!

This method is a great addition to your hair care routine as it helps to really lock in the moisture of your hair, eliminating hydration fatigue and restoring luster, softness and shine 

As one process lasts approximately 1 week you should find that your weave or hair extensions lasts twice as long!

Hey everybody: this is Nessa from NASA's hair extensions thanks so much for watching the videos um sorry, this is my clearly. My co-host here is Shayla and my cat and she's gon na want to come on me every five seconds anyway. So today's video is actually a redo of an old video that I had, and the videos title at that point was how to flat iron out dry, hair extensions, but really what the process I'm going to be showing you is how to steam iron, your hair steam Ironing helps your hair get super super nice silky smooth. It really locks in a lot of moisture because the heat is really being transferred through the water which is evaporating off rather than sucking it all out of your actual hair and hair extensions. So what I've used is I've used. I love you, but no kind of get down. Sorry. So what I've used is. This is a closure from a set of hair extensions. One of my clients is having me revive, and I thought oh, what better hair if this is, has been worn. I believe it was one like for six months, not not all together like take it out, put it back in and so forth, and so I'm reviving this set while she's wearing her new set anyhoo. So it's those closures, kind of went through and it's a lots of lots of dryness lots of everything that's going on. Thank You Kat anyway. So, basically, we went from being really dry and horrible to very nice and smooth, and so we'll show you how we we got to this this point. Alright, so, firstly, things you are going to need are going to be and I'll smooth this out the way, a good heat protectant serum now I do always recommend the fantasia icy olive oil. It says hair polisher, but its moisturizing shine serum as well. I really really like this one. I find that out of all the serums that I've used previous in the past, this offers great moisture or really a good heat protectant. It really helps seals in the moisture in your hair and it doesn't leave that really thick horrible residue unless you just put far too much on, but you know if you're putting the right amount on this is the stuff that I recommend. If you don't have this, you can use any other serum that you have also with my wife. She doesn't normally do this. It'S only that I'm talking to you guys that she's, like I don't know anywho and so first thing you need a good heat. Protectant second thing: you're gon na need is a spray bottle. Um literally, this could be any spray bottle as long as it has a fine mist yeah. That is what you're gon na want to need. Now what you're gon na do is with your boggle. You need to fill it up primarily with water and then what you're gon na do is you're gon na add about twenty milliliters of a very light oil. Now, if to be honest, I'd love to do use coconut oil. However, it solidifies - and it just takes a lot of time and everything like that. So what I do recommend is, I use the husk keratin protein shine: oil cuz. It'S really really light. If you don't have this kind of oil, it's okay, any light oil would do such as carrot. Oil, hair oil - for you know, carrot oil almond oil is a really light oil as well. That would be nice just refrain from using heavier oils like olive oil or castor oil. Those are too heavy, though they'll cause a bit too much build-up, but a nice light oil so again filling the bottle, primarily with water, and only about twenty miles of oil or so and each time you actually use it you're gon na give it a really good Shake so that you make sure the oils are in the water next thing: you're gon na need, of course, a comb, a rat tail comb. If you can find one, but any comb will also do just for parting. You will need a preferably I say, get a straightening brush, something like this. It really helps to properly smooth out the hair. If you don't have one of these well mind you, you should be able to get them at like forever 21 and all these kind of other stores for about ten to fifteen dollars. I really do enjoy these, but if you can't get one of those or you don't want to have one a barrel, brush will be okay. A Pavo brush is also okay. However, I think the smoother and flatter you can get your hair prior to applying the heat. The better okay, what else are we gon na need? Here? I love the cat butter. I love the cat anywho, so this is forgot to tell you you're, also gon na need a hair straightener, that's kind of a big thing as well. Sorry, where my brain is going anywho with your hair, straightener dude just remember to keep the temperature between 350 to 375 degrees, regardless of your hair type. You may say to me, but missus 350 to 375: that's not hot enough shouldn't it be like it 400 or 500. Of course, not. You don't put a turkey in the oven on like 500 degrees, because you're just gon na get raw turkey on the inside burnt. On the outside pretty much what happens with hair - and you can't make a turkey at a hundred degrees either, because that will just you're gon na have to keep it enough for really long. So same kind of thing, 350, 375, ideal temperature for hair - you may say, but Nyssa my hair extended, my hair straightener doesn't actually have a temperature gauge. All it gives me is numbers. What do I do? Okay? Well, the good thing is normally depending on your hair. Straightener, normally 350 to 375 is kind of medium to meaty, slightly medium-high on a lot of hair. Straighteners, however, do check your at your manufacturer, your straightener manufacturer, just to see normally. If your straightener goes up to like, let's say the maximum temperature is 450 you'll know 350 is about medium-high. If your straightener goes up to about 500, it's probably medium to low, so just check out okay. So here we go now barring a money up. So I'm just gon na apply my serum first, I'm only applying a small amount. I'Ve got about a dime-size amount on there for this small section of hair, but you're gon na need about a toonie size for an entire head. Now this method, when done correctly, can basically keep your hair if you're wearing it straight nice and smooth and really good for about a week before you have to do anything else to it. So it is a great upper preventative measure when it comes to wearing your Weaver, your hair extensions to stop your hair from just drying out and turning to a big fluff ball really and the reason why it's so good. Is it because you're basically heat sealing in the heat serum or the oh, my gosh? Yes, the serum you heat, sealing it in and basically once that's in there you're stopping any sort of hydration fatigue from being able to happen, and that's where your hair basically absorbs water and evaporates it out. And does this repeatedly and that's why your hair can feel really dry and brittle? Sometimes, but again, if the, if the the product is already heat, sealed in there hey, it stops that water from getting in and going out okay. So I've applied my share and I'm part of my hair. Now, I'm adding only about two sprays on each side because you want the hair to be damp, not wet. Basically, if I were to leave this for a couple of minutes, the hair would be dry again and that's what you want. You do not want it to be soaking. Wet hair is really really delicate, while it's wet you're gon na find it a lot more breakage. So you definitely don't want to like that. Only damp, okay, so taking my flat iron brush, I'm brushing it through just to make sure that the water is evenly distributed and then I'm taking my flat iron and you can see I'm basically holding them side-by-side. I'M trying to get the hair as smooth and as flat for the flat iron as I possibly can that way. You'Re gon na get, as you see there, a really nice smooth effect now, just to show you what it's like, also with a paddle brush. Now you could tell my paddle brush is really big. It would be better if it were smaller but same kind of thing, I'm just using my thumb to really clamp in the hair to make sure it doesn't move now. So that's what you do on a paddle brush, I'm just gon na show you what to do with a a barrel brush and sorry my stand and knock my camera. Sorry already so same kind of method with a barrel brush, I'm going to clamp the hair. With my thumb just to ensure that it remains smooth all the way down, it is a little bit more tricky with a barrel brush or a paddle brush, but you can still get the same effect and just running over everything nicely just to be sure. You really should only need to run over at two passes to the first pass is basically to heat seal in the serum. The second pass to get any sort of remaining water that may be on there to evaporate off now do not be alarmed or shocked. If you get a bunch of steam rising up off there, that is perfectly fine. You'Re gon na hear sizzles crackles, but it should only be slight. It shouldn't feel, or it shouldn't be so much a steam that comes off where it looks like your flaming working back in the 1920s on the steam machine, but you can see there just a light amount of steam coming off. Okay, excellent stuff, so generally two passes. Will do it, but sometimes you can get the job done in one pass, the smaller the section the less passes you'll have to make, but if this is a really really wonderful, again method for long term maintenance, if you do, you normally wear your hair straight doing This, when you are flat ironing out, will greatly increase the longevity of your your hair extensions and there you have it so just giving it a nice quick brush out and you can see it looks really fabulous. It feels amazing, considering that this has been washed to revive yet, and you can see the the other side is is yeah. You can see what it is, and this side is nice and smooth and just gliding through, and that's it you thank you so much for watching today.
