Hello: everyone, it's inkazee, welcome back to my channel today, i'm back with another video and i'm gon na be asking you all whether i should relax my natural hair, okay, okay, okay, before you get too excited, don't forget to subscribe to this channel. If you enjoy watching this content and let's get into the video, i realized, i stopped making a lot of hair content towards the end of 2021 and, to be honest, i wasn't really wearing my hair out as much and when i really think about it, i'm like Why did i really stop wearing my hair and i think it's something that a lot of you know natural girls can relate to. Sometimes it gets very boring. You know a lot of us have our go-to hairstyles that we go to whether it be touching twists. Braid outs, bantu knots, um a wash and go, and especially, if you're, washing your hair, often every week every two weeks, you feel like you're just doing the same style and it can get very routine, very boring. And for you all, i don't know, i do have itchy scalp, so just my whole hair regimen, my hair is very thick 4c. If you can see from here and just washing it, i have a lot of hair. I have a big head, a lot of hair. It could just be a really tasty, so i do try and space out my washes as much as i can. But i said this: i'm trying to wash my hair every two weeks because i think it would definitely help with my scalp issues the build up and just i want to get into the routine of doing my hair. So when i don't wait too long, i don't feel like such a burden, because i'm not washing it as much as i should be. With that being said, just wearing my natural hair, i could get very boring. It could get very routine. Um also insert a picture of hair in here when i dyed my hair. I can't believe it's almost 11 years ago, and i was when i had my hair dye like a reddish blonde orangish more like an orange with like some blonde streaks in it. I wore my hair for all of 2012. I didn't put any weaves didn't wear wigs back. At that time i had my hair out. I had challenged myself 2012 you're not going to put any weave in your hair and i felt like i was motivated to do it because i had color in my hair, so every hairstyle i did, i feel like it, just amplified the look. It looked so you know, luxurious everything, just looked nice because i had a different color in my hair and it just looked very different, but my hairstylist has highly suggested. I don't color my hair. I'Ve thought about tinting it. I don't think uh. My rinse will come out proper um, but she suggests i don't put bleach in my hair. So at this point you know i've had my natural hair color for a while, and i just feel as if i get tired of just doing the same styles wearing my hair the same way, but basically to give you all the background. I have been natural for. Oh, my god, i wish i wrote this down sophomore year of cop, not college sophomore year of high school, so about 15 years now, they're going 15 16 years never intended to just was i decided to stop perving my hair because my scalp was always burnt. It was just a very unpleasant experience and, like my to go to style, that's a two-strand twist, but now that, like it's just a lot to do by myself at home, i won't be honest, so um, but my two to go style is definitely two strand twists And i do wear wigs a lot. Let'S try my hair like this, why i've done it this way. This is my wig y'all that i'm wearing later today do y'all, like it 30 inches. Yes, yes, but this is my wig that i'm wearing later tonight and i usually wear cornrows straight back and do them myself, but i realized it was affecting my hairline. So what i've done is that i've made these box braids in the front like about eight ten box braids in the front, then i cornrow from the middle going back and i'm telling you i did this a week ago, and this is going to be my to Go my new to go to hairstyle. It has changed my life because number one like i mentioned my previous videos cornrows make my hair age. If any of you all experienced this comment down below - let's talk about it, but i think is the tension in the pulling on your scalp wear this with weave those are extreme when i used to do it with weave back in the day, but even with my Real hair corals are so itchy and it's pulling on my hairline, no matter how gentle at least i'm the one doing it right. So, no matter how gentle i feel like i'm doing it, i still see little little lifting here and there and i'm like i need to protect these edges. I'M trying to re um, you know, maintain them, grow them back whatever you want to call it. So i need to lay alone these type of um, these styles, that pull on my hairline. So i'm definitely. This is definitely my week to go hairstyle because even when i'm not, i can work out with it um i go out on errands. I don't care like. I don't feel crazy going out, it doesn't take long. It took me, like maybe an hour an hour and a half. I was watching basketball while i was doing it a week ago and i could wear my wig and lace flat. That'S another factor like i have a lot of hair, so there's no way i'm going to do two straight twists and think it's going to lay on my on top a wig is going to go over, it's not possible, so i need something as flat as possible. So being that the back is cornrows, the half this part going back, his cornrows is flat and the front. You know it's just the braids. So as long as i um, you know flatten out the roots when i'm braiding it it's still pretty flat. So the wig goes all over perfectly like, and i think i'll be able to do this every two weeks, if i'm really serious about it, because it just doesn't take as long so i'm more motivated to do it. You know, but like my biggest issues when it comes to my natural hair, besides just being boring bored with, like you know how it looks, sometimes it's just the um reaching that plateau and, like i did have a video about this last year. I'M going to link it down below. I did feel like at a point. My hair stopped growing, not stopped growing, but i stopped seeing length i stopped seeing it getting low because, like we always say, hair grows all hair grows. It'S just the issue that is breaking fast, it's breaking more than it's growing, so you're not seeing that length retention that we, a lot of us do want, and i feel like retaining length, can be an issue and i'm not to say that relaxing my hair would Be better because my hair wasn't long when i was relaxed to be honest, but then again i wasn't doing my hair. I didn't get my hair done professionally when it was natural, so like they're, all girls who have perms and their hair is really long. I know i um i follow schwann or comey. I believe i'm saying her name right. She just reaction. She just recently went natural and her hair was crazy along with a perm. Oh my gosh, nice thick. So you know my i always say. Even though i chose not to relax my hair, i could never send some anti-relaxers to me was more of the experience i had with relaxers and the results that made me stop relaxing my hair, but you can have chemically. You know relaxed hair, that's healthy and you may have natural hair, that's not healthy, so it's not always because your hair is not sure that it's better or is healthy, wanted to get that out here, but like yeah, her hair, lit and also another issue in my Natural hair is that, because of the length i feel like when i watch a lot of girls on youtube, a lot of girls on the youtube um, the ones who really like able to do like a wash and go or have a teeny weeny afro is more On the low maintenance side, but being that my hair is not long, but it's definitely not short. So it's more like a mid length, i feel as if it's really hard to not to maintain per se yeah. It is hard to maintain, because i feel like the styles, that my hair is too short to do and their styles, that my hair is too long for so i basically feel like let's say my hair was like three or four inches longer. I feel like. I can't you know, drew like let's say like seven big twister, braids and stretch it and then put it in a ponytail like a bun, and then i would have you know something coming out from the top, but like with my hair like now, i can do That, but it's not going to be a lot of hang time on a ponytail, not not how i would want it to look good. You know proportion to my body, my my head size, so i feel as if the length is also challenging too, because the length of my hair is at. I basically like. I always have to style it like. I just can't let it be like it's not short enough to just let it be, and it's not long enough to just let it be. I know it may sound crazy, but for people that can relate comment down below in the comment section. So, basically, my solution that reason why i bring up relaxers and honestly, i'm not seriously thinking about it. This is just you know, get you getting conversation going is that i notice when i straighten my hair, my life is so easy. Like i'm telling you i'm not worried about my hair for two three weeks. The only issue is that working out is challenging. I do like take like breaks off working out because i don't want to sweat it out, but if i had a perm i wouldn't be worried about sweating it out because it would naturally be straight. So i do understand the argument that girls bring up, who choose to relax their hair that it it can definitely be easier in terms of lower maintenance like if you're, literally just relaxing your hair and then you're just putting in a ponytail. It'S just you. Can your hair is already like done per se versus it being natural? I can't just wash my hair and put in a ponytail i can put in a ponytail, but i have to go through a styling process. I have to either blow dry it straight um stretch. It things of that nature, so i definitely understand that aspect, but i'm not to say i'm seriously, considering it the only time i think i'd really consider relaxing my hair is if i got like a shortcut because no one's about to be pressing. My hair, like every two weeks for those short cuts, but i don't think i'd ever go low short hairstyle. I don't think i have the face, for i don't think i have the head for it, but um. I definitely understand people relaxing their hair when they have honestly people relaxing hair pure, but i understand people relax in their hair when their hair is, you know in a short style, because it's just it really makes sense, but um. I don't think i would relax my hair. I definitely do if the thought does cross through my mind, hearing that i'm not even gon na lie, because i'm just like i'll just be able to tie my hand and ponytail and go, but my my fear with relax. My hair is that my hair thinning out - because i do remember that too, even though i've always had full hair, my hair wasn't really that full when i was relaxed and just the pain, i'll be honest, pain is number one like i, i've gone to professionals even To relax my hair, my scalp always burned like i feel like my hair, is just not designed to have a chemical relaxer in it. It'S just not for me, like i had scabs on scabs uh when i think back to those, i think, back to those days like having a perm was such an unpleasant experience for me. So i think that's the major reason why i would never go back, but i definitely do see you know some of the benefits and i understand why some women, especially women with thicker hair like me, decide because i'm not gon na lie. I'M just used to like. I said i've been natural 15 years - it's not for the week. It'S not easy having it to always worry about your hairs having thick natural hair. I i don't blame the mothers, you know who did it? Who permed our hairs? When were younger, they a lot of them, felt they didn't have an option or they didn't really know how to do their, how to do our hair. So i i i definitely understand why someone with my 4c thick natural hair get really relaxing period like they. Don'T have to give us a reason like i know the personal experience and it's not easy, always preoccupied with your hair, always worried about what you're going to do with your hair. But i think the issue now is that so many um women women of color just have chosen to know experiment with our hair. You know we have wigs and weaves as an option. So my argument is that, if you're always wearing wigs or weaves, i understand why this a lot of people just started going natural. Because of that because it's like my hair is not out. So i'm permitting my hair to go and put a wig on like you're. Not really wearing your permed hair out so unless, like i still do understand why some people still do it, because it still makes their hair more manageable. We'Re going to have a video about that term, because but yeah the hair is still softer. You know. So even when they're braiding it to put under the cornrows, you know they don't have to do as much. So i see that. But i don't really for me that and that's my another reason why? Because i do wear wigs and i plan to always style my hair in different ways and having options, i wouldn't just have my hair in a ponytail 30 days of the month. So even if i got a perm, i would still be wearing wigs with the perm. You know what i mean, so i just feel as if it's not i wouldn't probably do a leave out or a sewing. I have scalp issues. I can't i love sewing. I can't do them. I have to be able to wash my hair and i get to my roots every week or so so those are some things to consider. But if you're a natural girl like me and you ever considered, relaxing your hair ever been tempted to just go to the salon, get that chemical treatment. I see a lot of youtube videos: girls have been natural for years, is going to get a perm, and you know i can't i'm not mad at them. Is their personal choice to have their reasons if you're one of those girls, let me know why you would want to relax your what makes you consider relaxing your hair and also, let me know how long you've been natural. Are you enjoying the natural hair journey? If you have thicker hair on the type 4 hair, like me, foresee hair, how do you feel about it? Um? Do you ever see yourself? Relaxing your hair in the future. Is this something that you desire is something you don't care for? PhoenixRiseSun: Ever thought about locing your hair? I would not advise going for a perm/relaxer if you care about your health. I am locd and maintain it every 2 weeks. Best thing I've ever done.
