THE DANGERS OF HAIR WEAVE / EXTENSIONS!

To weave or not to weave that's the question millions of American women are facing when it comes to hair extension. If you watch Fox 26 News this morning at 6:30, we spoke with a woman about the health dangers of hair weaves. Tonight, Isaiah Kerry continues to explore the issue that could leave some bald just isaiah melinda, jose the beautician. We spoke with specializes in hair weaving. She says there are dangers if you don't take care of you here. Once it's been extended, she says it's simply a 50/50 chance. These two women had the same idea. Both wanted a change with their hair that would make their lives a little easier make their hair less of a chore, something different trying to give my hair a break. I want something as low-maintenance nothing work with my hair every day, so both women turned to hair, weaves or extensions. It is a very huge business. The nine billion dollar industry of hair weaving was made extremely popular by celebrities of all races. It'S the process of lengthening your hair, a process that has been around since ancient Egypt, but became popular with African Americans in the 80s. My hair is thinning out and it's brittle now and also it steady itching, Moni Malone just dumped her extensions. After a matter of days, that's after finding piles of hair like this on her floor Malone tried a weave and it left her with an irritated scalp and the possibility of a doctor's visit everyone's different. Maybe my scalp is just tender too. You know the wings there have been dozens and dozens of documented cases of weave disasters. It varies from application era to individuals whose scalps are ultra sensitive. I was very concerned about that. The talk of hair damage from weaves didn't stop Ramona native net from getting her first extension. She was talked into it by her daughter. I'Ve been working so hard and I need a new look. Ramona is letting experienced beautician mica, mica laced up placed a track and stitches in her head. Someone who's been doing it for ten years have had quite a few customers. That said, their hair was done wrong and they would like for me to do it over Mika. Says we've in the wrong hands by someone who has no experience can cost a customer in the long run, not just monetarily, but those looks they value. I have fallout patches, a hair missing, I mean all kind of things can happen. Of course, you would prefer to have a profession on your head, professional or not. Malone is going all natural from now on that hair that continues to fall out after only a weekend of Hair Weave has convinced her beware, even though you know it may look pretty just a precaution. Meanwhile, back at Micah's shop Ramona sees her extensions for the first time now for those of you who are concerned. If you do get a hair extension and it's not taken care of there's a chance of developing a form of alopecia permanent hair loss and scalp damage. As Mika told us, it depends on who does it how well it's taken care of and the condition of your own scalp beforehand and then once again, you're left with that 50-50 chance in the newsroom Isaiah Kerry. Subae: I am glad I wear my natural hair ... Weave is cute but it's not worth me loosing my edges or hair my natural hair gets called nappy but at least I have my edges

Ashley Joys: You have to have the right person doing your hair!! I have grown all of my clients hair down their back, using sew ins as a protective style but I know people who had them and their hair is balding! Just research and do what’s best for you! ✨

wisdom seeker: Take care of your natural hair. If you take care of it, it'll grow.

BigRedBone: She said "that's pretty" but she had no edges. Lol. What a joke.

CALIDEE HOLMES: PROTECTIVE STYLE UPDO is the safest chemical free style you can do... i do my own hair...and was so glad to come across this protective style... no more wigs... extensions... etc... protective updos are so chic and sophisticated.... really classy and easy to do... lots of tutorials on youtube

TheWonderfulKushite: I have no problem with the ones who wear braids because it doesn't make them look Indian or something else other than what they are. I love to see sisters in dreds too. Some of you are master artist with natural hairstyles and I greatly admire that.

Goddess Oracle: My mother always stressed Self Value and Right to Opinion. But even so there were some very awkward developmental years that made me weak enough to compare myself everything. But I had no intention in the slightest to change my look to look like someone else. The essence of one's hair is our identity of who we are. This is serious self hatred with serious health epidemic issues that needs to stop. I mean sisters you are using someone else's DNA !!!! this is serious. Also sisters who relax their hair serious chemicals you are using also in the name  of beauty. And then sisters do not understand why they all of a sudden come down with illnesses. And brothers also because the fumes of the relaxing creme causes problems such as Prostate Cancer, that people do not know much about. When your health is now in jeopardy what are you going to do? what decision are you going to make? If you do not have your health you know you cannot do anything. History/Media has done lots of damage to the image of the black woman and this still continues. We have been cruelly targeted by societies standard of female beauty as not being as attractive as other women. Do not fall into this false perception and belief. I have chosen to define myself and will not allow nonsense and damaging lies to deny who I am. And us sisters we have to fight to define our worth, fight to dismantle and discredit negative stereotypes and untruth. We will never make any changes to this inferiority complex placed on us until we all are willing to see the pure disregard that sisters in general are facing. Gain knowledge of your history/culture/ identity is the first rule in loving yourself. The problem is that sisters have sunk in too deep. Most of us have our own ideas of what constitutes beauty but we should be ever mindful of letting others set our bar for us. As a race of people we are so hard on ourselves which I know where this is coming from. I always ask sisters a few questions when we are talking as you know some believe that sisters who are natural may not have the money or they truly believe that natural hair is not classy. 1) How do you look beautiful in a borrowed outfit and how do you maintain it? 2) When the owners decide to take back the outfit for good what are you going to do? I still get no answer till this very day. I am so happy that there is a resurgence in natural hairstyles. We must all embrace the hair we were born with and be proud as we are majestic natural beauties.

Donna: I hate hate weave. I love braids only

0121: so glad I'm natural, I'm definitely blessed.

Sheera Shields: Well I am getting my first sew in installed for the first time in November 12th. I take real good care of my natural hair I have been doing it for yrs. Now I think it is time for a change.

Rita Malik: I so regret weave, I lost some of my hair and I got the weave cause of thin hair, now really thin, I’d give anything to never had touched my hair , not only was that expensive but now I have really thin hair and the only answer is a good wig, and that’s expensive also

Laverne Coleman: Never had one never will!

Tisha Adams: This is not new. Women have to have right person doing it. Some women prefer to take out their own hair and don't know how. I don't wear wigs use to weaves sewn in or glued its a certain way to put in and take it out.

Queen KAH: Isaiah Carey can put on his professional voice all he wants but when I see him all I can think of is, "What really happened here today at Augusta High..."

ladyt5000 5000: It's not the weave it's ppl not knowing how to install and take care of it

demariojason: fuck that hair was already falling out bullshit!!. ..say no to the weave.....love your natural hair

Andreca kelly: Nobody hair falls out in a weekend.her hair was aready damage and weak.

Gemini B: I like weaves, wigs and braids but I rarely wear them. You have to sit too long for weaves and braids and I just can't do that. Plus I have a weak hairline. Wigs because they look, how can I put this, well wiggy and those are the reasons I go natural otherwise bring them on!

j. Weaver: you dont let every one do you hair for once. and because a person works in a shop doesnt mean they are professional. it more about money for most people. you have to find someone who cares about hair. and second. why is it such a crime to wash weave before it goes in. it not gonna mess the pattern up.

Jia Yee: What about clip in human hair extension?

Keke Kimbrough: she sounds like she had shedding.....your head sheds everyday.

Tesha beautifulmelodies: Countess Vaughn from "The Parkers" hair fell out.

Abigail Molusi: OMG i mite be having permanent alopecia, thanx to ads

Cocodan 2000: Weave is about low maintenance..not about waiting to be another race.I love my kinky hair..just not the maintenance aspect as many blacks experience. Straight her is not better hair..just easier to manage.
