Meesha has been wearing sewins since being natural but she has heard of a lot of people losing their hair from sew in weaves and she wants to know if its damaging and should she take her hair down.

Hair Tip #1 Weave does NOT DAMAGE YOUR HAIR! The way it is installed, the weight of your extensions, and your hair care practices can cause hair damage.

Hair Tip #2 Some women suffer damage because of the type of weaving thread used and too much tension being placed on their edges.

ONLY USE NYLON THREAD FOR SEWING YOUR EXTENSIONS! http://goo.gl/loK5lK

Use an Applicator Bottle to Dilute your Hair Products as needed http://goo.gl/WlhYZL

Hello, everyone: this is Breanna Rutter, author of the books, the natural hair Bible and founder of howtoblackhair.com, and for these special videos I love to answer the questions. You all send me via email. So any of you have any questions you like for me. To answer. Be sure to check out the description box below for additional information, so we got get right on into the video in this. Video is inspired by a question I received from Misha Misha wants to know if sewin damage natural hair. So i am going to give you two tips or two pointers on what to keep in mind. If you are getting sew ins and the fact that it is okay for you to get them done just as long as they're done correctly, so the first thing that I really want to mention is that you want to make sure that they are installed comfortably and Correctly, so what I mean by this is that when you're getting your braid pattern, braided down for your sewin hairstyle, you want to make sure that the braids are not tight. The braids are tight. They are going to stay tight for a while until your hair starts to grow, which is what will loosen the braids. You don't want to have tight braids, because this often leads to traction alopecia and, as I state in many of my other videos, is that traction alopecia can be reversed, but sometimes of its repeatedly being placed of stress on your hair. This can lead to permanent hair loss and hair damage, so just make sure that when you have your hair braided, underneath it's not type and then when you're getting your extensions stalled and make sure that it's done so with nylon thread. Cotton thread is the worst thread to use when sewing in extensions, and if someone is trying to use cotton thread on your hair, you want to make sure that they don't because cotton is very absorbent and what it does is. It creates weak points along your braids, which will ultimately lead to hair damage and hair breakage. So number one keep in mind that you want to make sure that when you are having your hair braided down that it's comfortable, you can move your head left right up and down without problems and that your extensions have been installed comfortably and correctly to make sure That the extensions is not taking out your hair. The last and final thing I want to give you as far as extensions and whether or not sew ins are damaging on your natural hair is that you have to take care of your real hair, even though your way the sewin hairstyle. So, to do this, you want to make sure that you are able to effectively shampoo wash her hair co, wash your hair or conditioner, wash your hair and apply moisture and water to your hair, as so, in order to do this, it’s very good to have on Hand some applicator bottles that you can use to dilute your products, so you want to use an applicator bottle for diluting your shampoo for one for your conditioner and other products that you are going to be using for your hair. The reason why you have to dilute your hair products is so that the product is thin enough to reach your hair, wash your hair or condition your hair and to be effectively rinsed out. Most shampoos are pretty thick, so if you was to just squeeze some shampoo once your sewin, you are going to be washing out suds for days, so make sure that when you are applying product, your hair, everything is a watery consistency, so that you can effectively get The job done without leaving product build up on your hair, so of course, sewins do not damage natural hair. What damages natural hair is the lack of knowledge and a lot of people struggle with wearing styles, because they feel like every time I get my braids done or every time I get a sewin done. My hair is always breaking and falling out, and what it is is that you need to be knowledged about how to take care of your hair in the first place, and especially when you are when you are wearing extensions, and is one thing that I really highlight In my book is that when you are, when extension still take care of your hair nurse, proper techniques to be put in place to make sure that you're keeping your real hair shampooed and conditioned and healthy, as well as with wearing extensions as well. So I hope this question has helped you and helped. Anyone else was wondering, because I know a lot of you are very afraid of wearing different types of styles that you for, like it's going to damage your natural hair. Braiding must, as you me as her testimony or guide, because I have natural hair and I always love when different types, styles and doing different types of tutorials. To show you how to where different types of looks so, don't be afraid, just make sure you're ready and equipped to handle your hair, even though it's in a sewin or any other protected style. So is always anything I mentioned in this video make sure to go down into the description box below to figure out any more details that you want to know more about and also before you all go make sure to sign up for my email list to be Automatically entered for any giveaways that I do and only their you will receive exclusive content. LapeyLou: I love your videos! They've been very helpful to me, especially because I have never actually done any "black styles" with my hair. I just got a sew in, which is the first thing I've had done to my hair other than a relaxer. I have been wearing my hair natural- with the exception of the occasional straightening for about 4 years now, but it's not really growing. SO I decided to do a sew in to help it and let it take a break from being straightened.  Anyways, I just got the sew in, I really like it, but I don't know anything about how it's supposed to be. My stylist did cornrows first, then sewed in the weave, which is cool, but there are parts where I can feel the edges of the track and I can't part my hair. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to keep it from sticking up? You can't really see it, at all, but if I run my hand over my hair it's really easy to feel.

casmith412: I have a question. Why is it that people who wear sew ins usually end up with paper thin hair, even if it started out thick? It seems like sew ins permanently thin out your hair although it does grow long.

Sierra: Thanks a lot for this because I would like to try them one day but I am just so scared of leaving my hair in the hands of people who may not know how to do it correctly :) I am happy you posted this :)

Italianita Chick: Ladies that are struggling with hair loss. plz STOP with the weaves!! or atleast start washing hair properly. It is the mildew and build up, and constant tugging that is causing the hair loss. Mildew will grow in any warm dark place. The sweat, and water and even if you think you are drying properly you are not. Hair should be washed atleast once a week. Buy wigs instead and take it off at night, wash your hair often. Use a tea tree oil solution this will wash the hair, and at the same time its an antifungal and it will stop the mildew from forming. You can also use a couple drops of oregano oil in water use that as a solution, or even clove bud oil. All of these will help....this should be done WITH shampooing properly. there is no such thing and over washing your hair ladies.

Princess ♡︎: my hair actually grew a lot of I took my sew in out, but my hair was super thin. I'm just a little upset

Patricia Chrisphonte: I've heard you can use braiding hair for your cornrows under the sew in to protect your hair or a weaving net. How does that work?

Weaving Stories: 2 months ago I took my first weave out and I only had it for 5 weeks en my hair fell out ridiculously. When I got it sowed in it didn't feel tight, only the first 3 days a little bit but after 5 weeks I already found my sow in to be very lose. I had 3 bundles of hair sowed in with natural leave out. I was so scared because when I tried to take out a knot (very carefully) the whole strand of hair fell out. I really would like to have another sow in but I'm so scared. My hair type is curly 3A/3B. I hope you can tell me why my hair fell out so badly and if it's possible for me to take another one but with only 2 bundles or something.

Shay: this always confused me. some people loose hair some people grow hair everytime I get sew ins My hair grows a couple inches but I also let my hair breathe and I never let anyone braid my leave out cause I ain't tryna loose my edges lol

AR Productions: What about clip ins? With braids underneath Would the same rules apply? And do you think it would be damaging

Italianita Chick: Also your hair is beautiful here! I love this style. I don't understand why more black girls wear braids! It is the new in thing...and nobody knows how to do or wear braids better than a black girl :) My best friend was black when I was little and I always wore braids i was jelous.

S N: i DON'T LIKE MY HAIR BEING BALD, HOWEVER, I KNOW SOMETHING DIABOLICAL IS GOING ON WITH WIGS WEAVES & SO ON! BECAUSE I ROCK A WIG WHEN GOING OUT OR I DO A ADDED PONYTAIL, SO THAT MY HAIR CAN GET AIR & SUNLIGHT! NOTE: WHEN I WEAR WIGS I DON'T USE GLUE OR NOTHING BUT A STOCKING CAP OR A HAIRBAND & STILL BE HAVING SOME OCCASIONAL IRRITATIONS, SO THAT'S HOW I KNOW THAT WIGS, WEAVES, BRAIDS & ALL EXTENSIONS HAS SOME KIND OF ISSUES WITH THEM. THAT'S WHY ALL OF IT, IT ITCHES LIKE HELL... HOWEVER, MAKING ME BELIEVE THAT IT'S AN DIABOLICAL CONSPIRACY GOING ON, I CAN'T HELP TO THINK THAT, BACK IN THE DAY, THAT WASN'T A PROBLEM UNTIL RECENTLY, AS 5 TO 7 YEARS AGO! AND IT DOESN'T MATTER, WHETHER YOU ARE YOUNG, OLDER, RICH OR POOR,! NEVERTHELESS, THE HAIR IN ALL PHASES HAS EFFECTED JANET JACKSON HAIR, HER BECAME THIN TOO, LOOK AT THE MOVIE SHE PLAYED IN ON """WHY DID I GET MARRIED""" AND, NAOMI CAMPBELL, WHO LOSS ALL HER EDGES, AND THE LIST GOES ON. NOTE: AND THEY HAVE MONEY FOR THE BEST HAIR-CARE, SO WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? IS THE ORIENTALS BEHIND THIS? OR SOMEONE ELSE IS MESSING WITH OUR HAIR & HAIR PRODUCTS OR WHAT? SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY GOING ON? AND WHY AIN'T NO ONE PUTTING 2 & 2 TOGETHER? SO WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH HUMAN & SYNTHETIC HAIR OR THE BLACK HAIR CARE PRODUCTS? OR ALL OF IT? TAMAR CUT OFF ALL HER HAIR BECAUSE IT WAS THINNING OUT SO BAD FROM ALL EXTENSION HAIR, NO MATTER WHAT SHE TRIED! COUNTESS DID THE SAME, HELL I DID THE SAME..... MOREOVER, I REMEMBER RUNNING ACROSS A HARVARD STUDY ON WOMEN HAIR & THE USE OF EXTENSION HAIR SOME YEARS BACK ON YOU TUBE, I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT THE FINDINGS WAS? HOWEVER, WHY WAS THE INTEREST??????, UNLESS IT WAS FOR SOME KIND OF PURPOSE OR REASONING? WELL ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT'S A PROBLEM, AND MOST OF US NEED A WIG NOW! SAD, HOPEFULLY, SOMEONE WILL READ THIS AND HAVE THE MONEY TO RESEARCH THIS ISSUE!!!!! PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO GROW YOUR HAIR & USE LESS UNNATURAL HAIR-CARE PRODUCTS & THE FAKE HAIR & DON'T SLEEP IN IT! UNTIL FURTHER INVESTIGATION!!!!!
