How I Grew My Natural Hair In 6 Months *Realistic*

In this video I share how I grew my natural hair in 6 months, realistic hair growth and realistic tips that worked for me! I break down my curly hair growth tips in 2 categories; how to stimulate natural hair growth and how to retain length for natural hair! This was my 6 month hair growth, of course it’s longer straightened because we all know natural hair has shrinkage :) I don’t know my hair type, if I’m 4b or 4c, so I can’t help with identifying which is which! I understand that my hair is not insanely long but for me, being able to wear my natural hair out and feel that it’s full and shoulder length curly is a big accomplishment! I’m sharing these growth journey hair tips in the hopes that it’ll help someone else out!

If you have other tips, I’d love to hear them:)

Since I haven't been doing that, what do you know my hair is growing longer and I am not a hair Guru? Okay, I'm not a natural hair Guru. My hair is not down my back yet Lord William will be hey guys and welcome back to my channel. My name is Gwen for those of you who are new here in today's video. I wanted to talk about hair growth and what I've been doing to grow my hair within the past six to seven months. If you guys don't know, I'm currently on a weave list. 2021, so I've been going without hair extensions for about eight months now, and I've learned so much since I have given up hair extensions, I would keep a sew-in in back to back, like I would not wear my natural hair out for longer than maybe two to Three days, I'm not kidding you so now, with it being out and with me experiencing it doing stuff with it. I'Ve learned so much about hair growth. So I'm going to share with you things that I've been doing in hopes of helping you guys on your own hair growth Journey. So the number one thing you want to keep in mind is that hair grows regardless hair is going to always grow. Our thing that we need to to work on is how to retain length, and I'm sure you guys have heard that in like the natural hair community in other communities, but normally what I was noticing with my own hair was the hair that I would have braided Up under my sew-in would grow, but the problem came with my leave out. My leave out would always be shorter than the rest of my hair, so my front pieces would never get past this Lane. Now, with my hair being out, it's grown to like here - and I was always like what am I doing, and I finally figured out what I was doing the whole time. So just keep that in mind that hair is going to grow regardless. Your goal is to retain length now for everyone: that's going to be different, some textured hair. Maybe they can retain length a little bit easier. Maybe your hair gets drier quicker, so you have to also educate yourself on your type of hair. For me, that included, I did a little hair porosity test to see if my hair needed protein or moisture there were other things that I just learned on how to essentially keep my hair from drying out because for me, dry hair equals breakage. So I wrote down a total of two categories. The first category we're going to discuss is how to stimulate your hair growth. Like I mentioned, hair is going to grow regardless, but there are things that you can do internally to help stimulate it, and one thing that I added to my daily routine was collagen. I started it for another reason and I have noticed since starting it. Not only did my hair grow thicker, but my nails are growing. My brows are growing back quicker Praise You, Lord, because I went too thin on it and now I have to do concealer because I'm trying to grow them out, but that's what I did. I added in collagen because it kind of ties into my next one, which is diet and make sure you're getting proper nutrition. So many people, especially on the standard American diet, we're not getting proper nutrients in our diet, whether that be the mineral girls being depleted from the soil. So then, our vegetables nowadays are not like the vegetables back in the day, or rather we are just not getting enough balance nutrients. You need nutrients for your body, and that includes your hair. Our body works all in one. So when your body is healthy, your hair is going to be stronger and it's going to flourish more and I've noticed for me, particularly. I have switched my diet a while ago, but sometimes I will go back and forth on stuff and I will eat poorly. Sometimes I'm not even gon na lie like sometimes I have slip days but um. What I've noticed is overall, the health of my hair now in my late 20s, is totally better than how my hair was in my early mid-20s. Like I don't know, my lifestyle is completely different and I noticed it in my hair. So when I started taking care of my body, I noticed my hair started to follow suit. Another thing you can do to stimulate hair growth, I'm sure you guys have heard it, but it's when you're in the shower. I have one of these little massage things that I use and when you're in the shower, you basically massage it as you're, taking a shower as you're washing your hair, you massage it and what happens is you're, massaging your scalp and that's going to stimulate blood flow And blood flow to the hair cuticle is going to promote hair growth. So, besides stimulating hair growth, your diet, doing your scalp massages, the next most important thing outside the body after the hairs on the head, is to retain the length now. I have noticed a lot of people will tell you that they eliminated heat, and I wanted to do this, but I was not ready to do no heat because my hair was not long, and since I am on my weaveless journey, I was like okay. I can't wear any hair extensions. I need to figure something out, so I allowed myself to apply heat to my hair, so in the very beginning I tried to do. The no heat thing did not last very long. Maybe like a month, I tried to do it and then I was like no. My hair is too short. I want to apply heat, but I'm only going to apply very minimal heat and what I learned was that when I did not apply heat - and I was wearing my hair - maybe like this or maybe in a twist out, I had to manipulate my hair. So much like, I could not just go to sleep and wake up and just take it down now. I'M learning that if you have the right, silk scarf and a silk pillowcase, you could literally just scrunchie your hair to stretch the curls wake up, flicker it out and you're good to go. But in the beginning I was always re-brushing. My hair. I was always re-combing. My hair, my fingers, were always in my hair right and it's like too much touching too much manipulation that was causing breakage. For me I would always notice hair coming out, and that was a problem. So when I straighten my hair go figure, I was not touching. My hair often I straightened it once and then I left it at night time. I literally do rollers in my hair. I don't wrap my hair anymore, so I was not constantly combing constantly brush. I was not doing that with my hair. The motion I would do take out my pin curls run my fingers through it, and that was it. I started to wonder how is my hair doing better when it's either stretched, which means that I would blow dry it or when it is straight, and I realized a lot of other women were going through the same thing and that's because of the manipulation when you're Hair is out in a super curly like this. You can wear your hair like this, but you have to manipulate it less. I stopped dyeing my hair. Now I've been dyeing my hair from like, I don't even know when I would dye my hair. Maybe one shade lighter than this, and it would be a brown. I was always dying, my hair and then I went completely blonde in like 2020. So every time I would go blonde, I would have to get a major cut like four inches. She would have to cut off so literally. I just said you know what no let your hair grow out. So I ended up dyeing my blonde hair, a brown color and you can still see I have a little bit of ends left. But overall, since she was doing major Cuts, you can see my ends. Are they still curl up pretty nicely and I think it all comes into just taking care of the hair, even if it is dyed? Another thing that worked for me I had to learn how to stretch my silk press. If I wanted to wear my hair straight, I will straighten my hair and I won't touch it for two weeks. I literally will not straighten it again if it gets kind of fuzzy or whatever I literally pin curl it. I do not touch it with the flat iron again because I'm trying to do minimal heat, since I haven't been doing that. What do you know my hair is growing longer and I am not a hair Guru. Okay, I'm not a natural hair Guru. My hair is not down my back yet Lord willing, it will be. Another thing that I want to tell you guys to do is to get a shower head filter depending on where you live. The water can be a lot different majority of waters, however, do have chlorine in it and a lot of other stuff just imagine basically showering with pool water every day like every time we would get in the pool in the summertime. I would always notice like. I would come out, my skin would be dry and my hair would also be so dry and just imagine every single day, you're just putting this on your hair you're, drawing your hair out with this chlorine so to combat that get a shower filter and the shower Filter is going to help block some of those harsh chemicals that are possibly drying your hair out that are possibly making it more prone to breakage. It'S going to really help you. I got mine from Amazon. There is a ton of shower heads that you guys can get, and I will go ahead and Link the one that I got below and the last thing that I'm going to share with you guys is to get a protective style now. I do not believe that you need protective styles to grow your hair, some protective styles involve weave and some protective styles. Don'T I've been doing protective styles, like I said the twist um and that's really helped me. I think that when I was doing productive styles with a sew-in like I said, my hair was growing, it was the leave out that was, it wasn't growing. That'S because it helped me to keep my hands out of my hair. Okay, that's pretty much all I have for this video. I really hope that it was helpful and I really hope that you guys learned something other than that. I thank you guys for watching and I'll see you in my next video bye foreign
