Yes, it is definitely hot, so today is a good day we're finally going to the beauty shop to pick up some hair products. You know that feeling, when you're gon na go replenish your supply of all the good stuff, so I'm going to the Luxe Beauty, which is a neighborhood beauty shop. You know they have a ton of them here in North Carolina, but it can be a little overwhelming one aisle after the next. You know first world problems anyway, I found what I needed. No, I do need this. I didn't put it on there but twisted oh. These are like relax. Oh look, let's see, look, they got guy stuff um, I'm good! You got guys stuff that size bottle s yeah leave-in conditioner, so I really went there because I wanted to get products for a silk press, but I also needed a flat iron. However, the beauty shop didn't have good flat irons. I need to go somewhere else going through Ultra Beauty yeah. So you know a typical flat iron here in the U.S will cost you about 30 40 bucks like from Walmart, but I wanted an upgrade and after reading all the reviews and watching videos, I knew this was the place I needed to go except I didn't know. I was gon na have to spend almost two hundred dollars, but this was supposed to be the professional grade and it was supposed to do some kind of magic. So, let's see I'm excited. Thank you. Okay. Let'S get started with this hair transformation, so this is how I wear my hair under a stocking cap, if I'm wearing a wig and underneath I have these dry crusty weak old twists that I'm gon na need to hydrate before I start doing anything to them. Yeah. My hair is dirty, I'm just showing you the real, the real real, and this was my hair. Two years ago I was wearing relaxer for years. I cut it off all off, so I had a big chop two years ago, so my hair has grown quite a bit. You may not realize it here, but yeah she's grown and I'm happy with the progress. Here'S a texture shot. I have Type 4 hair. So I usually go ahead and add a little bit of conditioner again, my hair is super dry and then I add a little bit of moisture with some water. So that's the conditioner by the way basic Supermarket conditioner cookies. Now I'm adding some water again. My hair is dirty. I do this all the time this is kind of like my pre-poo uh, I guess process, then I'm gon na pull it up and then I'm going to unravel each twist, one at a time and finger detangle. So this step is really really important. This is how I retain length. I never put a comb in my hair without first wetting or moisturizing, my hair finger detangling and then a comb. So no Combs go in my hair. While it is super dry, so I'm gon na do this all over my head and then I will start to actually wash my hair, so finger detangle and finger detangling allows me to also get rid of any shed hair, because if you don't take the shed hair Out, that's why your hair will tangle and break when you go to comb it. So here I'm just going to slow it down, or this is really in real time. I'M just parting, my hair, with mostly my index fingers kind of like a raking process, and it takes you know the place of an actual comb, because when I can feel my own hair, I can then prevent it from snapping or breaking and yanking. You know I can feel any knots and it just is so much more gentle on the hair. So from that one portion this is the shed hair. I'M gon na keep working on detangling the rest of my hair. So again, this process is before I wash my hair like. I want to make sure my hair can comb through really easily before I start washing it and I wash it in twists. So these are loose twists, so I'm finally done detangling and retwisting, and this is how much hair is shed not too much. In my opinion, I have a lot of hair, so just look at the difference between the dry crusty hair that I started with, and the moisturized with conditioner and water hair. So before I wash my hair, let me show you what I got from the beauty shop. We got some Eco Styler gel. You know it comes in handy for edges and I got this mazani sulfate free shampoo, it's a first and then I love this twisting cream from cream of nature. I use it when I do braids or twists my hair, and I also needed some shine and jam for when I braid my hair later, and I also got this leave-in conditioner. I haven't used this before and this is the silk serum Remy hair care that I'm gon na use when I press my hair today. So let's hope that works out and then I love this good old affigy. I'Ve used that for many years in the past. So I am now soaking my hair now that it's all detangled um I'm going to go ahead and add the sulfate free shampoo again. This is my first time using the shampoo I got ta say this: shampoo is really nice. It lathers really well see. Well, there's really: well, it smells quite Pleasant, it smells really Pleasant, it lathers really well, and on top of that, more importantly, it leaves my hair feeling soft. So it's got like a lot of slip, it's like nice and thick and it there's definitely a lot of slip. So I'm liking it. It was a little expensive. It'S good! Once I give myself an initial good scrub outside of the shower, then I go into the shower and do it again and condition just look at that uh shrinkage straight out the shower instead of a towel, a t-shirt is a little bit more gentle to remove. Most of the moisture, all right, we're gon na need some tools right before we tackle this head. I pull up the majority of my twists into one and I leave out a few and then I cover my head with a plastic bag. This is to hold in moisture so that my hair doesn't dry out while I'm blow drying, because if it dries out, it Tangles a lot easier and it's not, as you know, easy to deal with. So I want it to stay kind of damp. While I tackle you know small portions of my hair, because I properly finger detangled and comb through before I washed and twisted, it is now much easier to deal with in the comb slides through easy, peasy, easy peasy, because I detangled before washing once my hair is Sufficiently combed through then I start the blow drying process with a comb attachment, and I always start at the ends. First and then I work my way up the hair, making sure that the roots are also dry sufficiently working with the back of the head on yourself is always a little tricky. Isn'T it as I finger detangle while raking through my hair and I kind of gently pull on the ends that helps to release the curls and also any shed hair, but I always find it fascinating how our hair is such magic because it literally doubles in length At least in my case, it feels like my hair just doubles in length as I finger detangle or comb it. So here's the Heat Protector that I use is it called chai or chi. I don't know, I love the smell of it and uh. Sometimes I use it not always but most times so how long does it take you to blow dry your hair? For me, honestly, it takes at least two hours, if not more so I often blow dry one day and style another anyway, I'm just showing you a knot here. This is what it looks like when you have a knot, and some people will have the tendency to just try to comb out the knot or yank your hair, and that is too aggressive. No, the best way is to just pull away the strands of hair from the knot, and then it slides out super easy and you retain in length right because that's what we're trying to do retain length and body of our hair. Okay, we're finally done with the blow dryer. Let'S check out this baby bliss pro nano titanium flat iron, what is so special about it? According to the Box, this is stainless steel, housing lightweight and corrosion and warp resistant. It'S nano titanium plates, deliver highly efficient heat transfer and instantly smooth condition and shine, there's also: dual ceramic heaters for exceptional heat transfer up to 465 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course it came with a detailed pamphlet that included what not to do so. Definitely read that and it came with these unusual looking gloves, but I guess it's to protect your hands. Should you need from burning so before I straighten my hair, let's take out these loose twists. Remember my hair's already been blow dried, so I definitely think for me. Protective styles have helped grow my hair, because I don't you know, mess with my hair too much, but I do love seeing it when it's out, like this kind of big and bold and bushy and wow, look at how much it has grown keep in mind. This is two years of growth since my big chop, and you can't imagine that this much hair it was sitting under you know my stocking cap or in those little twists that I had earlier. Those crusty twists have revealed this much hair right, not gon na lie. I am a little nervous. This is my first time using this thing and I think I'm gon na put it to about um. First of all, you got ta put it on ooh green lights on and then we're gon na. I guess Arrow up the temperature yeah plus plus, so I'm gon na put it on 380. see at least you get to see exactly what temperature, because some of them kind of have to guess anyway. But before that, let's go ahead and section off off and then this side we're going to section this off too, because you can't work in such big sections. You know what yeah, let's start off, cutting this before so I'll cut this in two while not currently buying these, even though it says it warms up quickly, all right. This is clearly still a big section to work with, so we're gon na take a thing. I think that might be okay. You know what I still think. That'S too much, I'm gon na go thinner than that y'all, I'm so nervous as if I haven't straightened my hair before but seriously. This is the first time I am attempting to do a silt press on myself. Let'S see, I don't want to burn myself. Ah, yes, it is definitely hot. Oh child see what we doing, I'm bringing it close slowly because because I don't want to have to do too many passes. Oh that's straight! Oh look at that. Yeah! That'S definitely straight down here, but it's definitely gon na need another pass, but now that I've combed, you know down one pass, I can get a little closer, but hell I just can't get to the root. Well enough! Oh okay! Let'S do this again, I'm not really impressed with the ends see the ends. I don't know if you can tell but they're not dead straight and of course, my hair is not heat trained. So that's part of the challenge and I really don't want to put too much heat on there, but I feel like it needs another pack. Of course I'm gon na have to trim these Ends. Don'T burn your ear wow! That'S pretty good! It'S pretty good seriously, though I don't know how these women do this. So often. I don't think I can do this so often because this would be too many hours out of my life. Are you serious, like I'm, looking forward to seeing what it looks like, but this is just too much too many hours out of my life just to look cute right, one pass. Actually this doesn't even as one pass. I have to make that section smaller I'll. Take my ear my ear, I don't want to burn myself. I clip my ear in place. Let'S see if that really works. Oh my God. I can't believe I'm gon na do that. I'M gon na clip my ear with my hair, see I got these little ears. Oh, that kind of works that actually works. Okay. Now I can get a little closer without burning my ear. You know what I'm gon na be bold and go to 410. um, because I think my hair can take it so we're gon na go up, but then, even after you comb it and it just still seems raggedy, that's a good time to trim off the ends. I usually want to wait till you know, I'm done, but I think I'm just going to cut the ends off and now the comb should go through it easier yep. So far, I feel like I've been doing this for hours. Y'All and all it is, is one quarter foreign. Can you come and do my hair for me? What okay? Oh my God, like I'm seriously, having regret right now, not about straightening, my hair, but about attempting to do it myself. Oh my God! This is a lot. This is a lot all right foreign here we go halfway. Halfway done see what the back looks like and you see the Grays what's funny about them. Is they do not cooperate even when I put heat on it as much as I can? Okay, let's try this. Let'S try it again, so you can see it's like. Let me just take this portion, even when I do that they don't want to behave. I don't know that's the product you're, seeing when you see that smoke, that's the products and that's my hair, see it's straight, but they don't want to behave. Let'S see what we did before, especially when you walk in. How did I do it? I guess by putting this that blocks, yeah the tip of my ear s, regulations, meat cups, foreign. Normally I cut my hair at least once a month when I wash my hair, usually during the blow dry or while it's in its curly state, but I didn't realize how bad my ends were until I straightened them and then I could really see how yeah straggly The ends were so I'm getting rid of them because I'd rather have full hair than long hair. Doing my 3 A.M. Happy dance. Finally, almost done. Finally yeah. I was really tired thinking the waves look kind of cute right. They do, but my hair isn't as silky as I want, so I'm gon na section it out and then I am going to Flat eye on it again. You know not as intensely as I did, but I'm also going to trim it because I got ta get rid of those ends yeah, so I'm just cutting the front and then I have sectioned off the sides. I split that into two and then again, like I said I am passing the hot flat iron down it because I need it really straight. I wanted it really silky, it wasn't as silky as I was hoping for. So you know I know I'm dealing with Virgin Hair. I mean my hair has not seen this type of heat before not this head of hair, so I think it can take the Heat and you know I'm not really worried about heat damage. I am worried about ugly ends, so I'm just gon na keep trimming until I have no hair on my head. Just keep trimming all right. Let'S see what the back looks like, because I don't know like an Indian girl right. The old me is back. I look like an Indian girl all right. Let'S see what the back looks like because I haven't you know I can't see the back. So, let's see. Ah, what do you think did I do a decent job with the cut? I don't know so. Let'S be honest, my ends look okay, but they could certainly be better and when you put it in a ponytail, you can see it even more. Just look at the ends. Yeah, I'm gon na have to cut that we're gon na have to fix that all right. So I'm pulling up my ponytail and then I'm just going to cut the ends. I think I feel like that's already better. Doesn'T my ponytail look better, not perfect, but better, and this is what it looks like loose yeah. I think it still needs some more trimming, but I can't see the back and I've done the best I can so I'm gon na go ahead and wrap my hair and call it a night. I haven't wrapped my hair in a long time, so this was a little bit challenging for me, especially when your hair is dead straight. It doesn't want to cooperate. It kind of wants to fall out of the wrap. Anyway, I did my best Bobby grips or bobby pins and all and then a scarf before bed. I was super super tired, yeah. It was literally after 3 A.M. See you tomorrow, it's the following day and I slept with all those bobby pins or grips in my hair, I'm ready to take them out. My hair feels nice and soft. It looks kind of messy and bushy, but it's actually not bad. However, as you recall, I felt like I needed a better trim, so I've recruited my husband to give me a trim. He has been given strict instructions and I keep trying to hand him the comb, so he could comb it and then cut it, but you know anyway, he was trying to do his best. Now that I'm looking at the footage, though you know what I think he kind of cut a little too high up, I wanted a trim, not really a haircut, but I think I got more of a haircut. It'S okay, look at his face. You can see he has cut a little bit more than he should have, but it's okay right, we're going for body and fullness and healthy hair. More so for length and again this is only like two years since my big chop. So I have no doubt if I keep on this hair Journey that by next year my hair. Did you just see him chop off my head? Did you see that y'all go back and look? You will see he chopped up quite a bit? Okay, I think that's better. I had to come back and cut the sides to match the back. Let'S see what it looks like better right, so here's my ponytail, you can clearly see the cut better here and yes, it's shorter, but I definitely think it looks healthier and Fuller and look at the top. You can see the before in comparison with all the straggly ends, so hubby did a good job. Okay, gold and hydrated foreign, not gon na lie. I have a little nervous, so I thought I'd give you a second. What do you think? What do you think? I love it. It'S nice and Sleek. It'S definitely a different version of me. Maybe it's the version I used to see, but I haven't seen in a long time. Okay, Dr tanau in the house, is giving it's giving yes, it could be a lot sleeker. I definitely believe it could be a lot sleeker, but anyway we're putting on some perfume. I don't know where we're going, but we're going somewhere. Let'S try this little part again. Yeah, it's not bad right. I don't know this little part or side. Part. Hmm yeah just love me that little forehead that I have seems to get smaller when I make a middle part: okay, but uh yeah. I really appreciate you spending your time with me and I hope it inspires you to do something different with your hair. You don't have to straighten your hair and if you choose to straighten your hair, that's your prerogative uh, but yeah do something nice for yourself and brighten up for the holiday Spirits or holiday season, and I will see you later bye, bye, all right. Some of you like when I do the Nigerian accent: okay, looking like a fine babe, okay, I'm looking like a rich Auntie, which one do you think. Do I look like a grandmother in many countries. I could be a grandmother, but no I'm not a grandmother. I'M a young, vibrant wife friend girlfriend whatever, but don't call me grandma yet no, and you cannot talk to me if you don't have money, you cannot talk to me. If you don't have an education, if you don't have an education, if you don't have common sense, talk to me to me, okay, I have enjoyed hanging out with you. I will see you later from your Nigerian sister. Actually, if you want to know the truth, I'm from Northern Nigeria hausa girl, can you imagine a hausa girl acting like me me hey anyway, I have to go.

MT: Hi! Beautiful hair especially before the press! We have almost the same routine and I also use a pick as well (I dont see many people using one)! I just purchased a Revair to stretch my monthly twists. I haven't received it yet. Do you think you will ever test a Revair dryer out? Also your grey is pretty- pls don't dye it

tracy gallager: I did a big chop a year an half ago but I had too because the heat damage was so severe my hair was coming out as I comb or condition it...I was depressed behind it. I never had a relaxer but I use to get a silk press often from my stylist...so I'm very afraid of heat damage, right now my hair is mid back and I often wear it really big just for the heck of it and I'm so proud of my kinky hair. I don't plan on straightening again.

BEaUtifully786: Great job on your silk press, Habiba! I can relate to the work it takes to wash, prep and press the hair. But, it came out nice! I'm currently experimenting with rollersets on my natural hair at home.

Adwoa E. Bey: My days of pressing my hair is long gone. I love my natural hair. However you did a wonderful job on your hair. Beautiful!

Alice Gauteng: Your hair came out beautiful. The side part is giving 100%❤️

Hazel H: Hair looks very healthy. I cover my ears with a sock when i press my hair. I use the original pressing comb but the electric version. My hair doesn’t stay press looking for long it’s too ‘thick’, pressing just makes it easier to comb.

David J: GloriaFriend2U: Hello Habiba, I enjoyed watching this video, you were so funny. Your hair came out so beautiful. Your husband did a great job trimming your ends. I almost forgot about all the different steps to doing my hair. I usually wash and air dry. My hair used to be thick like yours, but I think meds like blood pressure & thyroid and going through some things like grief has caused my hair to thin or all of the above, but still grateful for life health & strength I do have. Your video seems down to earth, so real. Keep the interesting content coming. Take care now ❤️

fdoctor: Wow, Habiba! Your silk press came out beautifully. I was natural in my early teen years but I do not miss those days of getting my hair pressed. Currently, relaxed b/c of the maintenence that natural hair requires. However, I am considering transitioning again. Living in Florida w/all of the humidity is really influencing my decision as to whether not to revert, time will tell. Tfs

Mina Stacey: Your hair looks nice and healthy! Beautiful

ESTHER EKPO: What a beautiful hair, and side part looks good on you

S.Renee_0505: Oh my! Your hair is beautiful. You put in a lot work to get the fine results. Love it. Absolutely beautiful . Kenton is hilarious

Black Beauty: I think your husband did a good job on the cut. Looks great!!!

jennifer ashby-okoli: Beautiful job Kenton.Your hair looks great Habiba. Flat ironing /pressing is the closest to straighting as we can get with our natural hair.We still have the best of two worlds. Love you guys. Keep the vlogs coming. Love you Khalid, Kareem,Marium, Bishir, Barbara Ann aka nana and special, special love to Omar, even though we don't see you.

Yvonne Miller: Great instructional video. You look fabulous

Regina Karim: Ur hair looks really good n neatly done.

Leann Wade: Your hair came out really nice!❤️❤️

Vivian martinez: You all are special. I love watching you all.

Ann Harradan: Hi Habiba loving the look you look healthy and beautiful your hair has grown a lot the products are really good Kenton did a great job leavening the hair thanks for sharing enjoyed ❤️

Oyams Babe: love you Habiba! My Nijja sis. And, Kenton’s reaction & expression the cut came out really good bc it showed the thickness of your hair and gave it super boddie (my Nigerian accent here) . Your hair’s gorgeous, just as you. Enjoy the journey girl.

Nelda Nuñez-Corte: Great job Habiba, you’re beautiful!

TheCrystallorraine: Nice video! Thank you! Can’t wait for the next video.

Morning Light: Lol you just made me laugh so hard on a rainy gloomy Saturday morning. Naija accent any day!! Love you Habiba!!

Shirley Fretty: Your hair turned out beautiful Habiba!!!

Nirosh Pather: Well done Habiba, love the look and the Nigerian accent was on point. Thanks for the humour too.

Utube Channel: To have that much hair... I would think I was a goddess if I had that much hair. You hair looks beautiful. Kenton actually did a good job. You'll have that length back in a month.

Ngozi Dibia: You did a good job of giving yourself a silk press.

kate nkosi: Habiba you did a great job with your hair I know it's hard but at end you did good the way you chose to do it ❤️

Jacqueline Madoo: Nice to see your process but I use a straightening brush which is one step for me after drying my hair. Have a beautiful weekend

Lorna Francis: Hair looks beautiful

Kenton & Habiba: Thank you for watching! Was the new flat iron worth the price? I am still not sure or perhaps I need to improve my technique. Don’t forget to hit your notification bell because most of you are not alerted when I post.

Selina Barua: You have beautiful healthy hair Habiba! I like your full fro look!

Lexi2mee: Habiba I wash my hair let it air dry on large rollers or twist it. My hair is a mix of 3c and 4a. Pressing is a lot of a work. I have lots of gray in the back of my hair and it drives me crazy. I straighten my hair once a month. You did a great job.

Raspberries Summer: Could you share a link for that flat iron. Your hair looks great!!! … I’m in Alaska and am from SC. I’m all natural and would LOVE to flat iron my hair on my own!

Leti A: Your hair looks good, it’s growing fast

Sher Jones: Your hair is beautiful !

R Hogan: I really appreciate your hair tips and if I were in NC I would be trying to get you to do my hair. Though it’s fine hair I’ve always had a problem maintaining it #no hair skills

Camille Isaacs: You did a great job. Love your funny Nigerian accent ❤

Selina Barua: Oh you look amazing! Nice job Habiba and I think the side part becomes you more

Aquanetta Gardner: Your husband expression that's the one oh it was hilarious the overall through the years seeing you chop till now I enjoyed it I don't have thick hair like you mines is soft shoulder length you don't call for too much heat so I don't know what hair you're calling but I love yours it is beautiful on the way my hair get thick of that on do anything to it let it get old through the month LOL how do your mom manage her hair do a video about that you look a lot like your mom when you was doing the process of your hair I hope so too girl is doing well LOL but I always enjoy your videos really and I always will give you a thumbs up regardless if I don't comment please I always forgive you a thumbs up cuz it's the spirit that's in you that makes it so refreshing may God always continue blessing you and your beautiful family always happy holidays⛄

josephine hunte: Wow u represent 3 cultures, how special. Love the accent

Rochelle Dent: Pretty and silly as usual

Pat M.: Habiba you are killing me. Your hair is very healthy & because it is so thick, you'd have to do another press or more heat for it to be silkier but it looks great. Yes, it's truly giving Dr. Tunau (sp)! Thanks for being the 'guniea pig' in this experiment. I've wanted to try a silk press but do not have the patience. Shea Moisture products for me or my local Jamaican natural hair products...Ettenio with our black castor oil, etc. Thanks for this. That flat iron is tempting me to purchase

christianne: I love it ❤

Jenny's Space: Beautiful, beautiful hair.I honestly love the outcome.I felt bad for you, your hands must have seen pepper. The funny part was when you said "can you come and do my hair with babyface.....It was hilarious. You look beautiful . Kenton did really well though....Much blessings to you and your family.

Private Person: Kenton is guilty as charged! ✂️✂️ You look good, Habiba!

Carolyn Gill: Your hair is so beautiful

Kicky: That Nigerian Rich Auntie accent is killing me! You look so glamorous. If it had been sleeker, you likely would have lost some of the body. It looks great. Your hair is the same texture, thickness and length as mine, and the end results looks very similar. I always do a side part; more glamorous/sophisticated to me. I go through the same thing when I wash my hair, and my arms get so tired!
