How To Clean Synthetic Braid Hair - Acv Rinse For Naturals W/ Sensitive Skin

Hey loves! Just wanted to show you guys how I clean / prep synthetic hair anytime I get my hair braided. I had a bad reaction a couple years ago and wasn't sure what caused it. I did a little research a found out that the hair is treated and coated with an alkaline base. When this comes in contact with your skin or scalp it can cause irritation, itchiness or a rash. It can make wearing braids or twists super uncomfortable. So, the last time I got my hair braided, I went ahead and cleaned the hair first using an apple cider vinegar rinse. It made a world of difference. LMK if you guys have tried this before! See you next week! xo , Whitney

Hey guys, it's Whitney welcome back to the channel, I'm gon na be showing you guys how I clean synthetic hair using an apple, cider, vinegar and warm water mixture. You ever had your hair braided with synthetic hair and you've had any type of reaction or fine bumps irritation itchiness. This is a great way to get rid of that alkaline coating because that is what's causing it. So we're gon na go on with some apple cider, vinegar and just eyeball it import into about half a sink full of warm water, and I'm gon na take the hair out of the pack. This is just regular, kanekalon, braiding hair, and you want to make sure that you secure the ends of the hair, so I'm just gon na take it out of the pack and then it should already have a rubber band at the end of the hair. You just want to wrap that around a couple more times, just to make sure that hair is nice and secured, and so this will ensure that it doesn't get tangled or matted during the process. Now, if you look closely that white film, that you see is actually the chemicals coming off and it's immediate, this is not. This. Video is not sped up at all. This is real time, so it works immediately. Now that all the hair is in the water, I'm just going to stir it around a little bit, even though the apple cider, vinegar, pretty much starts working immediately. I'M gon na go ahead and let it sit for 15 minutes after 15 minutes. You can see that film has gotten even thicker. Oh, it's just horrible, but we're gon na go ahead and take the hair out of the thing and just put it on the other side before we rinse it out. While I'm doing this part, you guys know what to do. Please make sure you subscribe to the channel if you haven't already give this video a thumbs up and turn on your notifications. So what I'm doing is pulling the hair out, but you want to be careful to pull it out from the top and kind of gently wringing it out, starting at the top and working your way down to the bottom. This will be the best way to make sure that you're not matting or tangling the hair in the process of cleaning it. You don't want to wring it out or ball it up or anything. So I'm gon na let this water out and move over to the other side of the sink, where I'm gon na start rinsing. The apple cider, vinegar mixture out of the hair. You want to do this with warm water, be careful not to make your water too! Hot, because this is synthetic hair, which is basically plastic and you don't want to melt it or change the texture or just you know, pretty much make the hair I'm manageable to use, and so I'm just gon na go in and rinse the hair really really good. We all know that apple cider, vinegar has a horrible smell, but rest assured, your hair will not smell like that, once we rinse it out and the hair dries the apple cider vinegar scent. It goes away once it's rinsed out, it's time to hang the hair to dry and I'm literally just putting it on a hanger, and I like to hang mine in the shower because it is gon na drip and let it sit overnight. And this is the next morning the hair is completely dry. There'S no tangles, it's not matted! You can see it pretty much kept the same exact texture. The only thing is that it has less shine, which I like, because I think it actually looks more natural. So I hope that was helpful and I will see you guys in the next video

Realist Answers: Tips for anyone viewing this in 2020, if you have extremely sensitive hair. Soaking this hair for 20 minutes to an hour is NOT enough. You should do it for 24 hours with at least 1 cup of vinegar or more. Rinse the hair with COLD water for 15 minutes with a spray nozzle. Hot water can possibly melt this hair or make it a different texture than required for braiding. I would also use a clarifying shampoo after the 24 hour soak because there’s a chance the chemical could still be there. If you feel you need a light leave in conditioner to the hair, add some apple cider vinegar to that so it can be continuously killing off any remaining chemical. Get the Design Essentials Tension/Itch oil and put that on your scalp twice a day after the braids. If you still have itching once the braids are in, add Apple cider vinegar to a sulfate free shampoo, drench your hair in it, scalp and hanging hair. Massage gently. Stand in the shower letting the warm water through your hair for 15 minutes or more. Repeat this twice. Then add some ACV to a leave in conditioner, put it on your scalp and hanging hair. Re-oil your scalp. This will work.

Rebecca Stafford: I could still smell the vinegar so I did the same process with shampoo after and it was gone. I also used conditioner for about 5 minutes to restore the softness and some shine. I think it depends on how much ACV. You use. I've seen other channels say use 1 cup acv to a 2 gallons( milk jug) of water. I still had some itch do to dryness after a few days but that's on me for not moisturizing my scalp

Bay Gladney: Looking to wear more protective styles this winter. This process will definitely help me.

Jayarie: I wish many people knew this. Alot of women complain about allergic reactions to synthetic hair and this really helps you can also use baking soda/powder (i can't remember which) and water to do the same thing

Antonia Howell: So glad I found this tutorial. I was going to start braiding my hair today, but I can wait a few days. You'd think they would put this information on the package if they want people to continue using them.

Mrs. D-V: Recently cut my locs off and was going to do box braids before starting the journey again. I had no idea that you were supposed to go through this process first! Thank youIt’s crazy how many chemicals we are exposed to.

Jae LaToya: Thank you! It was straight to the point and useful

Nerd Alertz: Thank you so much for this! I got passion twists about 3 weeks ago and I had to take them off bc I started noticing little red bumps on my edges and I was itching all the time, so now I know what to do!

BricKs: Thank you soooo much! The itch is surreal! I feel like I have friggin lice and darn near scratching sores in my head. My scalp is crazy tender right now and no amount of oil or braiding itch relief sprays is stopping the issue for more than a couple of hours. Wish I would’ve came across this years ago. Only the nape of my scalp was itching and I just scratched away, never thinking of it although it seemed like my cornrow was getting looser (lifting). Then this prickly feeling came about like pins and needle type of thing. When I finally did take them out I had to 2 clean 1/2 dollar sized bald spots where the itching was . I had to use some type of cream (can’t recall now) to alleviate the feeling even after removal, the doctor said it was some type of fungal infection. I stopped wearing synthetic hair and pretty much blamed it on the gallery I went to. I figured the hair they supplied was bad or something because I’ve never had such an experience before then. Now that I’m wearing synthetic braids again, it seems like the top just won’t stop itching! . I thought because they were new and tight from the rubber band method I did. So I went and removed the rubber bands and rebraided my hair however the itch still remains, just not all over ‍♀️. Guess I’ll be removing these and trying it again after the soak. ❤️

Cheyenne Nunn-Smith: Just an added tip, I used warm tap water and 2 cups of apple cider vinegar and it foamed up instantly if anyone needed any extra help

Elaine Rebelle: Simple and to the point. Thank you.

CoolCalmCollected012: Straight to the point. And very helpful thanks !

TONI2COMBS: Most helpful anti-itch solution prep video I have seen yet! New subby! Thank you so much I'm going to soak the hair before I braid

Michelle Nance: I never knew this now I know how to stop the irritation. Thanks girl

Racquel Hawkins: I normally soak my hair twice in ACV, for at least an hour each time. I use a little non sulfate shampoo to get rid of the debris/film off, I then use some conditioner to detangle but really to add a nice smell. It’s be 4 years now and I never have a problem.

LaLabutterfly: Wow! Wish I knew this before I did my braids! Funny enough I had an instinct to wash them before I began braiding, but pushed the thought aside. I have a very sensitive scalp so I’m surprised I didn’t experience severe itching but I did find myself scratching within a week and every now and then since and my scalp wasn’t dirty. I chalked it up to the cold weather because every time I did put oil in my scalp the itching would cease for a few days. I’m going to just spray it with ACV and hope for the best lol

Elisea: I thought I was allergic to synthetic hair before watching this video. I'll definitely start doing this from now on!!

Ayeekie: Just did this today, I used Apple Cider Viegar mixed with a little shampoo (Selsun Blue) to take away from the smell. I then shampooed the hair but couldn’t condition due to having to work at 7 so I couldn’t really finish. I hung everything though and will condition tomorrow. I’ll also post a video soon.

Aisha Israel: This is good. Alkaline protects the hair from fungus i was told which can occur while being transferred from warehouses and trucks etc., BUT YESSSSSSSS...this process is necessary. Thanks for sharing❤️

Sweeting: Omg i didn’t know I should do this! I’ve been suffering from itchiness forever, I’m def washing the next round of hair before I use it. Bless

Lillie Sanchez: This was a very helpful video! I had a client who wanted her braiding hair treated and I didn't know how to do it PROPERLY thank God for YT lmao!

Mads x: When I soak my extensions, nothing happens, no white anything comes off, but it still irritates my scalp, and really wherever the hair touches. My neck, jawline, shoulders, etc. I soaked this pack anyway, hoping it helps!

catinacamirencamille: This video was very helpful, I have the same problem and now knowing that it's the braiding hair, I feel much better.

bishopl: first time using braiding hair. hope this helps. I’m soaking for 2 hours jic because I have semi sensitive skin. thank you!

Bria Lynn: Omg thank you!! My head always itches when i had braids!!!

Brittany Breaux: Thank you so much! I’m going to try this. By any chance do you think it works if the braids are already installed? I just got some last week and my skin has had a reaction. Don’t want to throw $250 down the drain!

Michaella Ndaye-Ndaye: I did this after I had my hair was braided. I refused to take out my braids. Just use a spray bottle full of ACV and water. Spray on you hair until your braids are saturated and wash off afterwards. If your braids still smell shampoo and condition it.

Candice Quick: Thank you SO much for this video! I cannot believe how many CHEMICALS are on the hair

knmonlinemedia: I wore braids for a hot minute as a teenager and had to take them out. My scalp burned so bad!! I'm now in my 30s and found braiding hair that was listed as hypoallergenic...Not so! Scalp was itching and burning and I had to take the hair down after a week. Did research and found out I had to rinse out the hair (watched your video). I did that, and it worked. No more itching and burning scalp. I could have saved myself years of dyeing my hair crazy colors when I could just have installed braiding hair to achieve a fun look. Now I know what to do, and want my hair to have a break from dye and excessive handling. Hopefully my hair will grow past the bob stage. I've always wanted longer hair and couldn't since it would break off right as it reached my shoulders. Once my hair gets past my shoulders I'll be happy

Chautele Henry: Very helpful I just purchased some ACV and have a single braiding pack in the sink rn sitting for 30 mins

Samantha Jones: Does it matter if I use regular ACV or should I use the organic ACV that contains mother?

Natasha Pleasant: thank you. I did this and re-did it a few times, and it still didnt get enough of the chemicals out. I know bc I had to take the hair out not even a week after it was put in :( i'm gonna be letting it soak for 30 mins then rinse clean it about 5-6 times next time. last time i did it 3 times. also, to get rid of the smell, i use my regular hair creme (cantu) & didnt have any issues!

nani97: Omg I wish I knew about this I’ve had 2 severe allergic reactions just from touching the hair and I had to go to the ER each time

Dee B: Thank you so much ...very helpful!

Ashley Bell: I do this all the time now ever since I ended up in the hospital because I had a allergic reaction to it it was really bad

Miss B: I really needed this video. Quick question: this wouldn't affect ombre braiding hair would it (the colour)?

cinnamonstar808: great video: this reminds me of covid-19 reflections "wait... all those people were breathing on me?!" " i ate with those hands?" . the thoughts i wore that on my scalp without washing it.
