Hey guys, so I'm here today to walk you through how I wash dry and style my hair extensions. I have had extensions in for about six months now. I believe I got them in late September is now early April, so I've had them reinstalled three times when you get your extensions in you can let them kind of stay in your hair for about six to eight weeks, I'm not like the nine week mark now. I will show you how grow out they are. You can kind of see. Let me find you an extension hold on so, as you can see, this is where they are they're, obviously installed close to my roots and they kind of grow out. So like try to point now where I can basically stick a finger through the hair that is above my extension, so I do need to get them removed soon. These extensions are probably done. I'Ve worn them three times now and I do want to kind of give my hair a break, so I am gon na call to get them out in about a week or two. So I wanted to film this video before that. So when I got extensions in my hair, dresser obviously explained to me how to take care of them, but, like I am a visual person and like with YouTube, started googling like how to wash how best to wash your hair extensions, because it is really difficult because You can't really like Rob your like scratch your head and get your fingers really in there, because your tape and extensions are taping all your stuff. If you want to rip them out, so I found it really hard to find any videos about it. I saw one video where a girl literally put conditioner on her roots, which is on the tapes, which is a big no-no. So I was like I need to make this video. So before I get started describe my channel, I upload every Tuesday and Thursday, and I mean I talk about hair extensions and I'm going to take these extensions out soon and I I think I'm going to try and get the micro beaded weft extensions next time. I'M not ready, I don't think to like just wear my hair normal, but because I am growing out my undercut too, which is a whole other situation which you'll probably see in the video. So, just in case you notice it it's micro intercut, ignore it please, but I'm probably I'm gon na get the beaded weft ones, because I think they look cool or I might bond that noise wan na try something different anyways. This is about extensions, so I actually filmed myself watching my hair conditioning my hair blow-drying, my hair straightening, my hair curling, my hair, the whole kit and caboodle. So as I'm speaking through every process here, I will insert clips of what I do so I only wash my hair once a week. I'Ve always only washed my hair once a week called me for, like the past couple of years or like five years ten years, a long time. If I wear my hair straight and I style it, I have naturally curly hair, which you'll see when it's Kurt when it's wet. But if I wear my hair curly, I have to wash it more often too, because I feel like the curls die more quickly. They get flat and stuff, but if I straighten my hair like this literally it can last a long time in this video, I went eight days without washing my hair, so when you see it the first clips in this video I was day eight um. So I actually um record a clip about how I part my hair before washing it, so I will insert that now. Okay, so this is day eight hair. Maybe she is dirty, she is greasy. You know as Gracie would like you do this and then I just kind of like stays up there. So I'm about to have a shower um. You need to brush your extensions. I mean literally always, but especially before you shower, I always kind of do the bottoms. First, just get any knots out and then I do the tops of my hairs so dirty now a trick I like to do. Is I separate my leave out from my extensions, so I kind of pull the hair up above my first extension, I'm gon na do the same thing on the other side. Where is my first extensions right there? I just kind of brushed this hair forward and I'm like a crazy person, I'm just gon na take a little bit from the back, also because this hair needs to come in here. So I pull all this hair forward. Look like a complete and iron maniac. Have I ever looked cuter and then I take my extensions and I just kind of pull them back into a semi, tight pony. So the reason, the reason I have this SiC called over right now is because how cute am. I is because I find that when I'm shampooing my hair, it is hard to shampoo your hair when you have extensions in because you kind of have to try to like get in between the hair, and I find that this hair, first of all, just kind of Gets in the way and makes it difficult, this is a look. This hair, just kind of like, makes it difficult to get at your extensions, because it's just kind of like in the way, and also because you only want a condition from mid-shaft to the ends so that you don't get concern on your tapes. I find that this hair gets ignored and this is like my very broken hair, so it needs conditioner. So you'll see when I insert the shower clips that I actually conditioner or shampoo fish in this separately and kind of tie it up and then do my bottom. Just so that I can make sure that this hair is getting the TLC she deserves. Once I put the top part or my leave out up, I get into the shower, and what I do is I wash the top part first and I wash it separately. So I will go in forwards in the shower, and I will really why I like to like water separately. First of all is because I can actually get in there and scrub my hair, and I do find that this part of my hair probably gets the most dirty, because it's what I'm touching the most often especially the front sections. So it's where it gets really greasy and gross, so I can like really get in there and scrub. I always double shampoo, my hair. I took a cosmetology class in high school and what they taught me was when you shampoo, let's hair, with a shampoo that lathers, if it doesn't lather very well the first time it's because their hair is really dirty hi. I don't want my hair for eight days. You know which dry shampoo is in there a whole can. So what happens is the first shampoo, actually just loosens the dirt and then the second shampoo, when it's really lathering, is that that is it cleaning the dirt from your hair? So if you'll find that your hair isn't lathering very well, sometimes it's probably because your hair is really dirty and you need to double shampoo it. So I always double shampoo, my hair and then again I'll lean forward and I'll rinse that section out and then I will clip it up into a ponytail grades like a little button and then I will do the rest of my hair. I also find doing the leave out separately is helpful because this hair can kind of get in the way of getting into your bond sections so yeah. The shampoo I use is the no new shampoo. This is from davon Eze, I will say: davon us is [. __ ] expensive and I probably wouldn't buy this shampoo again like I'm, not gon na, buy it when I'm out and I'm almost out, but I will say if your hair is fried and destroyed and damaged. I would recommend this because I do think it helps my hair kind of. I only bought this because my hair was destroyed and chemically cut off by a hairdresser, so I do think that it helped my hair kind of rebound from that and helped my hair kind of fix itself. So this is good for very damaged hair. So I like it, but I wouldn't recommend it because, like a full, like leader, is like $ 80, so ya know so then what I do is again. I double shampoo the bottom section of my hair too, so I do find. I use a lot more shampoo with this technique, but I also think you're going to use more shampoo because you have more hair with extensions, obviously, and I'm used to I used to have beautiful long luscious locks. So I'm just used to having to use lots of shampoo because I really thick hair in general. So then, I just kind of put the shampoo on and again I really focused at the roots, and I try to get my finger in between the bonds and I only a massage with the pads of my fingers. Never my nails, I'm always doing kind of this. Never this because again you don't want to pull out the tapes you're, just gon na end up hurting yourself, so I do that kind of hair line. Here I do it here. I do it, though, on my undercut. Obviously, I just kind of go find it get in there, lather it up, rinse, know and again I'll double shampoo do the same thing rinse it again. You want to make sure you're rinsing very carefully with this, because if you do leave a residue at the root of your hair, it's just gon na make your hair achieve, because you left a residue there and it's really hard to it's your head. Will you have tapings in because again you have tape, it's and it's hard to get in there and really do it, and it's just gon na make your head feel irritated. I did it once and it was [ __ ] annoying, so I wouldn't recommend it. So then, when I condition I used two different conditioners, depending on which time I'm washing my hair again, I will do this top section first and then kind of tie it up and then do the bottom section. I either use the davines love conditioner now this expensive as well, but I would recommend repurchasing this one. I would, I would recommend this and I would repurchase it. This is a smoothing conditioner for coarse or frizzy hair. Honestly, first of all, I would say I will say: davon best. Packaging is literally pathetic, like what is this container um? The issue of this container is that you have like it's made for salons, so they don't think about the fact that, like if a person buys this and puts this in their shower, it literally gets like a hard crust on the top. I have to like literally stick my hand there like mix it around every once in a while to kind of mix the product back up, which is [, __ ] annoying. First of all, this smells like [, __, ], heaven I can't describe the smell, but it smells delicious. You need the smallest amount and it just honestly it's one of the best conditioners I've ever used. It makes my hair feels so silky, soft and magical in the shower. I absolutely love this conditioner um other times. I will use this Davina's nourishing hair building pack restructuring mask for dry damaged hair. This is just a mask that my hairdresser recommended to me because my hair is so dry and damaged when you put it on at first. It doesn't really feel very moisturizing when you put it on like when you're rubbing it through your hair is calling - and I don't know how I feel about it. But when you rinse it out, you can really feel house almost on your hair has like transformed into [ __ ] silk. So when I rinse also in the clip, you will see that I lost an extension in this process. But what happened was this was already slipping? I could see that it had like slipped further down into my hair, so once I put like the glue was just, I must have put conditioner up too high and loosens the glue, so the glue was already coming out of this one. So I did lose an extension from which is kind of like I think it was like this front section here I mean you can't really tell right now, so it just makes my bangs look more prominent, really, which isn't that big of a deal, but this doesn't Happen here I mean I don't want to say it doesn't happen very often because, like if you get tapings, I lost a tape in every single time. I every single time I got my extensions put in, but I will say the first time I lost them. I actually ripped some hair, Oh in the back, so I'm not really sure how about what happened. I will include my tape and extension, install and update videos in the links below, so you guys can watch that second item I got these put in. I was in Vietnam and I was like creighton crazy waves in Vietnam, so that probably wasn't good for my hair. I didn't take care of it. It wasn't brushing it properly, so I did lose an extension in Vietnam and now this one came out but again the extension already slipping and I might like the nine week mark right now so like I'm, I'm not sad about it. So just a heads up. So when I rinse those again, I will rinse the front part while I'm facing forward in the shower, because I don't want to the reason I like to put this part up is because I can actually condition this whole section, whereas what these sections, you only do Admit shafts to ends, and I don't want to rinse the conditioner down over the tapings, because again conditioner is meant to will kind of like dissolve your glue and will help the exceptions slip out. So I like to lean forward and rinse it all out and then once it's mostly out, I will flip my hair back and then rinse all of my conditioner out. So that is really how I wash my hair. It'S just a little bit different than how I normally wash my hair and honestly, sometimes I don't put the top part up, but I do find that it's easier and I find my hair gets cleaner and like nicer, when I do that. So when I'm done showering, I wring my hair out. I kind of look chill for a minute and then I go to the sink and I actually bring it out one more time and then I take a towel and I just kind of use the towel to kind of suck the moisture out. I just kind of wrap it around and and move down and squeeze, but I never pull. I never drag because I have curly frizzy hair. So if you're, like roughing your hair up in the towel, it's just gon na be a disaster, especially if you have frizzy coarse hair. So I just kind of squeeze and move down and squeeze again I move down to squeeze again and I press the towel into my scalp to try to absorb some of the moisture and then I just leave my hair for about 20 minutes to 30 minutes. I just let it air dry, then I will come into my makeup room and I will brush my hair out um in order to brush my hair out. I use the it's a 10 miracle, leave-in plus keratin treatment. This is just a really good treatment for your hair, and I find an if you tangles really well again. I have course dry hair, which is already a tangle fest, and I do minded extensions, just kind of exacerbate that they make them. My favorite really tackle ease. So I used this in the clip. You'Ll see that I'm using it just in this bottle, because my cats knocked this off and broke the spray on it and it's like literally brand new, so I'm using this, I spray it all over my hair. This I'm not really concerned about getting into my I like the top of my hair, because it's not that emollient and my actual hair, like my leave out section, um hair, covers the tapes and then I will brush it out with a tangle teezer. Now your hair is more fragile when it is wet, so I do not brush it out that intensely. I just kind of gently brush it out and when I do brush my hair, I kind of hold it like this and then brush, and then I do the top section and again, if there's a knot somewhere, I will hold my hair above the knot and then Brush the knot out so you're not pulling on the tapes and pulling on your scalp. That'S how your my hair, oh the first time. So I learned my lesson um and I don't do that anymore, but yeah. So I just kind of brushed it out really loosely and then I'll apply about half a pump of hair oil in right now getting the verb ghost oil, it's just okay, I'm not obsessed with it, but like it's a hair oil, whatever I don't have a pump Into my ends, and again I just leave my hair. I work from home so generally. What I do is I shower like on my lunch break and then I don't wash my hair and don't dry, my hair until the end of the day, so I showered when I filmed this, I go to the shower and they got to third and then I Didn'T blow dry, my hair until 5:00 p.m. so like, I literally just let it air dry for actually, my god shower too. So I think I love my hair air-dry for like three hours. You don't necessarily have to do this. You can go in and rough dry. Your hair, but I just personally feel like I like to let my hair air dry, I don't want to pull on it when it's wet, because I got your hair is more fragile when it's wet, so I just kind of let it live its life and then I just use a hair dryer hair dry. I have is the con air, brushless dryer, pretty sure I got this from Shoppers Drug Mart. I use it on the highest setting, but the second or the middle heat setting, and I just use a giant round brush. I section my hair off and I blow-dry it you'll see in the clip. I have really thick hair, so I like to use small sections just kind of round brush it out section. By section I use the got to be guardian angel heat protectant as well. I don't use this when I curl my hair, which I probably should, but I use it when I blow-dry my hair and when I go around my hair. I also that's what I will actually brush the sections of my hair out carefully. When I section a piece of hair off, then I will brush it. Make sure I get the knots out make sure it's nice and smooth, because I do find that what happens is my hair gets kind of tangled near the top of the tapings gets tangled like not in the glue just kind of below the glue it just kind Of tangled in the hair there, so I like to hold my hair again at the tape and just kind of like brush out each section, make sure that all in knots row. If I then, when I do that my hair tangles last throughout the week, so that's important nice blow dry, my hair, like a regular person and I'm because I don't blow dry, my hair until, like 5 p.m. like, I told you guys, I'm a nighttime shower person. Then I just leave my hair I'll put another pump of the verb, ghost oil in or another half a pump of this in just to moisturize my ends because I have dry hair um, although I guess this is even my real hair but like still like, feel, Like hair oil, you can't go wrong so another pop of that in, and I just leave my hair straight and I go to bed in order to sleep. I just put my hair back into a little like low Pony like this. I use these little uh. I can't find it hold on. I use these little coil hair ties. You can get them from Sephora and, like there's tons of knockoffs out there, there's supposed to be better for your hair. I do find they don't kink my hair as well as much and then I just go to bed. I woke up today, and that is when I curl my hair the next morning, I'm to curl my hair. I use the nume curling wand. This is, they believe, a one-inch, and I bought this curly one a couple years ago. It'S the one that comes with like eight different attachments, but I like this one because I find that it kind of forms the best waves, my other curling iron, is better. It'S a Paul Mitchell one, but it's like a bigger to smaller one like it's tapered, that's the word, and so I find that because it's tapered it just provides like a tighter curl to bottom that I don't like. So I don't really like the way this curl hold this curls my hair better, but I do find that the tape ins actually take a little bit longer to to like absorb the heat almost so for my regular hair. I hold it for about 10 seconds for the tape and I hold it for about 15 to 20 seconds. So again I will section my hair off and although section by section the sections are on the front of my face that are like my actual hair, I do those separately just because I find that they get stuck in the take a look with the tape ins. They just kind of like don't wrap properly, so do them for 10 seconds. Do the tapes for 15 to 20 and then for the top sections. I just kind of do like 8 to 10 because I really just want them to be like to have the body of the curl, but like not look curly so like this is my goal here and then, once I'm done with that, I will brush my hair Out and I'm left with these beautiful curls and then I will just take my hair straightener. This is the Paul Mitchell neuro hair straightener. I love the public line by the way the Naro is so great and I'll just call this straight and kind of sew up. The pieces around like the crown or the top of my head that are a little wavy, that's mostly just because I personally have curly hair. So when I sweat or like at night or like if I blow-dry my hair, like I miss it, some of them missed parts like I don't blow dry, it completely dry, so there's some parts that are kinky and wavy. So I just kind of go around and just straighten those pieces out just to make sure that it looks all uniform and beautiful um. That is everything. This is a long video, but it's one did. I show you guys how I wash and take care of my extensions. Also, when I sleep, I put my hair up in a high floppy bunny like do you find that it holds the curl so well, and I literally, if I see with my hair up and a fluffy bun, which probably isn't good for me, it's probably better to Sleep with it in like a low braid or a low like pony or something, but if I sit in a low pony, the curls just disappear, but see what they didn't hop in on top and one of these buttons hold on you know, you know when you Play your hair up like this and then you just kind of fold it over once and do this kind of a bun, that's the kind of bun I see with my hair in and again with one of these hair elastics and again it will hold my curl For the entire week I'll brush it out I'll, have this really nice kind of like a looser curl tomorrow, but it'll be just as beautiful and it'll stay like that for the entire week you can see in the original clip when I show you guys how I Section off my hair that my hair is day eight there I only curled it on day one and the curl stayed throughout the entire week. It'S just kind of like this really nice loose kind of like straight wavy body kind of hair. I have fallen at the neck, but of breath for this entire video, oh and I guess laughing always the hairspray I use is the Loreal Elnett satin extra strong hold hairspray. Now I will say I like this hairspray a lot. I find that it holds my curls really well. This says unfried rinsed and it's a [ __ ] lie. The reason I feel like I'm out of breath is because I can taste this hairspray in the back of my throat right now. It smells disgusting it like gets all up in the air. It is a [, __, ] toxic, ass hairspray and makes me feel like I'm about to die, but I still use it because I I'm apparently a psychopath. I mean ricard has one minute left, so that is everything I use. How I maintain my tape and extensions. Let me know down below, if you guys have tape ins, if there's any other like tricks or tips for how you style them or if you have a beard, what extension and tell me everything about it in the comments below, because I'm really considering it.
