Placement is essential to any wefted installation. The first concept that you'll want to keep in mind is your Danger Zones. Danger Zones are anywhere extensions can be placed where they may be in danger of becoming visible.
The first major Danger Zone is your perimeter line. That extends from the front of the face over the ears and to the nape of the neck. You'll want to stay about an inch away from this area.
The second is your natural part lines, and that includes any cowlicks. Again, you'll want to take a full account of any natural part lines, and carve off about an inch of hair all the way around that entire placement and clip it out of the way.
The third is any forced part lines. So if you like to have an extreme part or even pigtail styling. Again, stay about an inch away from any of those sides.
The next concept is balance. You'll want to make sure that the back is balanced with the front. What that means is that if you put too much hair at the back of the head and you don't put enough in the front, it's going to end up looking mullet-y. So you want to make sure that that balance is maintained.
The third concept is angling. If you'd like to have that hair flow towards the face, angle your wefts so that they are pushed forward. The same is true for any updos. You'll probably want to angle those back so that hair can be folded up really easily. Most installations will want to follow the natural flow with the hair so just go with that if you don't have any special considerations.
If you follow those concepts, you will always have amazing wefted installations.
