Getting Wig Colours Right

If you're new to the world of wigs, finding a wig colour that's perfect for you can sometimes be daunting. There are so many fabulous wig colours to choose from that choosing a wig colour to
complement your skin complexion may be overwhelming. That's why we're here to help. This blog post explains how to choose the right wig colour with our two favourite methods.

Finding a Wig Colour through Colour Matching

Here, at the Simply Wigs HQ, we have a team dedicated to finding a wig colour that makes you look and feel fabulous. One of the services that we provide is colour matching. We ask that you post a sample of your own hair so that we can do our very best to find that one colour you are going to love.

It's really easy to get a sample to us. Simply download the sample form and just follow the simple steps below:

Tell us which particular wig style you're wishing to purchase

Tell us which colour or colours you think may be suitable

Send us a sample cutting of your hair

Number 3 is the important bit, as if the sample is too small, we will not be able to provide you with a worthwhile suggestion.

Finding the Perfect Wig Colour

For guidance, this sample is a perfect example of what we are looking for. It allows us to look at the tones and mixtures, which is important when choosing a wig colour.

Hopefully, with these useful pointers, we will be able to help you find a colour that is going to make you feel fantastic!

Choosing a Wig Colour with Colour Queen

Getting wig colours right is such an important factor when choosing your wig or hairpiece. Wig colours can lift you or drain you, so finding a wig colour that suits you really does make all the difference. As you're ordering from our online store, we are unable to show you the wig colours in person, so we have created a dedicated feature called Colour Queen to help make your decision a little easier. Each colour has been photographed in our studio. View the full range of beautiful colour swatches on our site and pick a colour to suit your skin tone. Each colour has a colour description, giving you a bit more information about the different blends, tones and shades which make up the colour and if the colour changes from root to tip.

We have included COLOUR NUMBERS on our site so you can match up to your favourite shade quickly and easily.

We have included COLOUR BLENDS on our site to give you a general idea of the type of mixes. Where possible, we have included a model photo of the colour so that you can see the actual shade on a wig.

When you have found a colour that you like, simply use the COLOUR QUEEN feature to view all the wigs/hairpieces that are available in your chosen shade.

When you have found a wig colour that you like, simply use the Colour Queen feature to view all the wigs and hairpieces that are available in your chosen shade. All our wig colours have been divided up into four shades that we're all familiar with – browns, blondes, reds and greys. Simply click your colour group and discover a treasure trove of shades and tones to choose from.

Don’t worry if you'd prefer some more guidance on how to choose the right wig colour before deciding on your favourite wig colours. You can always call us on 01484 844557 where we'll be happy to chat with you. Alternatively, email the fabulous Colour Queen herself, and she'll get back to you as soon as possible (once she’s finished all her royal duties of course).

Wig colours are also categorised using a whole range of complex colour codes and with root colours, highlights and mixed blends all thrown into the mix, it can be difficult to know what shade will be right for you. If you're confused about wig colour, our handy chart gives you the lowdown on lowlights and the heads up on highlights, so you have everything you need to make the right colour choice. We also have a blog post dedicated to helping you match your wig colour to your skin tone.
