5 Fabulous Ways to Style Your Ponytail Hair Piece

Attaching a Ponytail Hairpiece

A ponytail hair piece is often available in a variety of different shades and styles to create a range of different looks. Each ponytail attachment differs. Some are based around a clip or grip, others have clips on the side of the hairpiece. Whatever ponytail hair piece you decide to opt for, they are all designed for ease of use and the clever attachment will ensure it stays put all day. Most of the ponytail hairpieces in our range look best when your natural hair is tied up already in a ponytail, bun or pleat and then the hair piece is attached over it. The ponytail attachment is then secured in place and you have instantly lusciously locks, with a style to suit you.

Here are our favourite ways to style a ponytail hair piece for some inspiration. These styles will create a natural look that will leave you feeling fabulous throughout the entire day and night!

Sleek High Ponytail

This popular hairstyle is a lot easier to achieve than you may think. When wearing a wig, we wouldn’t advise a high pony tail look, as the style pull the wig away from the direction they are sewn into the cap. However, for a ponytail hair piece this is a fabulous look. The trick is to make sure the hair at the front is sleek and the bun or ponytail you put your own hair in, is already at the desired height. We suggest using a tail comb to create the smoother, sleeker look before you attach your hair piece.

For this particular style, we love the aqua ponytail piece as it can be attached easily over the top of your bun and then wrapped around using a strip of velcro. To create a more natural look, you can wrap a piece of hair from the hairpiece around the root of where the piece meets your natural hair.

Messy Ponytail

A messy ponytail is one of the easiest looks to achieve with either a synthetic or human hair ponytail piece. As one the most natural looking styles, you don’t have to worry too much about the precise placing of your ponytail. This style is very low maintenance.

For this kind of look we recommend using a wavy or relaxed curl hair piece such as the Juice Ponytail Power Pieces. Once you have attached the hair piece to your hair, make sure to use your hands to gently tease out the front of the hair to create a relaxed look. If needed, back comb the ends of the hairpiece gently, to add volume and enhance the waves.

Voluminous Ponytail

For a look with more volume, we recommend a ponytail attachment such as the Brandy Ponytail Power Pieces which already has a natural bounce to it. However when it comes to this look, it’s important that the front of the hair is styled correctly.

Before putting your own hair in ponytail or bun, backcomb at the root and use hairspray to set. If needed, backcomb the hair of the ponytail hairpiece to create added volume and set with wig spray.

Low Ponytail

This style works well with either a curly or straight hair piece depending on the desired look. If you want to create a more textured style, pull out some strands of hair at the front and style to mirror the hair piece.

For those with shorter hair, having loose hair at the front coupled with a curly or wavy ponytail, is the best way to achieve a natural look. Just make sure your ponytail or bun at the start is angled correctly and is low enough before you apply the hairpiece.

Braided Ponytail

Braided ponytails are great for those special occasions such as festivals where your hair can be the star of the show. If your hair is long enough to braid going from the front to the back of the head, until it meets the ponytail hair piece, it can be a great way to mix up a classic look. You can always braid the ponytail piece itself too, just be careful that the braid doesn’t weigh the ponytail piece down.

Tips for a Natural Look

Overall, messy and more relaxed styles are the best for creating the most natural feel and look. Whichever style you do pick, always wrap a piece of hair around the area where the hairpiece meets your hair. This will give the illusion of natural hair and hide any trace of hairpiece. Remember that when you feel comfortable, that’s when you look your best. So, wear your ponytail hairpiece in a style that is best suited to you!
