Everyone Stephen Salonga here and today I've got a really exciting tutorial for you guys. This is going to help you with your confidence with short haircuts for women. You know, if you see me, do some pixie, haircuts and slippery inspired haircuts on you know shorter hair, but today I'm just going to kind of be creative and break down a really cool haircut step-by-step to help you guys feel more comfortable and excited about cutting short Hair on women, so I'm ready to go. Let'S get started alright. So, as I mentioned to you, guys, I'm going to get real creative on this, but it's also going to be very, very sexy as well. So what we're in do is we're actually in a start, believe or not. I'Ve got Clippers right here and don't be afraid to use Clippers on girls or women, because you know they want short haircuts and creative haircuts too. So what I do it I just basically clip off this top of the head does have to be perfect, but what I want to do is I want to just go in here and just buzz this off get rid of this all the way through here and Then work it in by hand into the top all right, so what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to start the Clippers like here, I'm going to start right here in the very very spot. Just like this. Alright, I'm just going to get rid of all this hair with you here, alright and depending on how long the hair is, you know you might have to go about buzzing this a certain way or a different way, because the hair might be too long. Okay. So you have to really you know, maybe hold in a ponytail like this and then go up this way like I like this and that helps get rid of see that that helps you're rid of the hair when it's a little bit too long. Okay. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go out throughout the whole back of the head, and I'm just going to go to about right here. Okay right about this point right here and I'm going to work it all in by hand. Okay, I'm leaving this part right here, just a little bit longer. Alright, because I want to have a little hair to work with in the very very front, but I'm basically getting rid of all this throughout the back - that I'm stopping pretty much half way through the back of the head in through here. Okay and you can follow along if you want - or you can just do this and pause the video and then come back, but it's really up to you guys. But I just want to finish this side here and then we can take a look and see kind of where we're at all right. The key to this whole haircut really is to work a shorter length in through here the sides of back and then work it in through the top or the very very funds gon na. Be your longest point all right. So what we're going to do is we're going to start right in the back here and we're going to cut straight up and we're going to cut it to where about the the hair is about I'd, say an inch in length um throughout the entire back. Alright, now remember, you're, probably going to have to go back in and do scissor over comb to blend this in and through here like this alright. But what I want to do is I want to establish this first by getting rid of the excess weight, because it's going to be a lot easier to blend in well, there's not so much hair hanging over it. Ok, so what I'm doing - and you can follow along as I'm starting right in the center here and now, I'm just going to continue to work throughout the entire back of the head. Call me everything straight out and cutting it to where it's about an inch from the head. Ok - and I all you can see - is it's exposing that line of demarcation here that we did with the Clippers, but also that's going to make it easier for us to blend in as well all right, and you can do that a number of ways. So now that we're done here now we're going to work back to the center and now we're going to go to the right of the head and we're going to take our next section using a traveling guide, which basically means you're. Taking a piece from your previous section and then you're working it into the very corner of the back of the head like this, alright, now what you can do is you can do a number of things you can. You can connect it like this coming over the top that way, and that's a great way you can blend everything in because now you've gotten rid of that excess weight. Ok and you can do that throughout the whole back also. This is a good way to crush like everything to make sure everything is, has a nice flow to it or what you can do is basically says over comb, and you hold the hair straight out from the head like this, which is what I'm doing and you're Going to work everything up and you're going to connect and get rid of that line, that's kind of jump out at you and you're going to use a thumb and just work it up towards the to blend in towards the back. Where you just cut it's a little more difficult to do, scissor over comb when the hair is what I think, because you know when the hair is dry, you're able to see everything a lot more detail and when it's wet you know, sometimes you might cut too Much you might not cut enough, so that's why I like to just go in and do it like this at first and then go back in when it's dry, alright. So again, what we're doing now is we're going to work this part, okay in through the top area into here, alright. So now, the next section. What we're going to do is we're actually going to cut shorter to longer going towards the face. Okay - and that means what we're going to do - is we're going to take a section right down the middle like this, and what we're going to do is we're going to actually hold our elbow up towards this towards the ceiling, and our elbow tells us basically and Shows how we're going to cut it so if we hold it down this way we're going to build weight. This is parallel, so it's horizontal and this is going to remove the weight and cuts worth longer. So here's our guide from where we just cut in the back and we're going to do is we're going to comb and cut all the way through the middle section here right to the very very front, and you want to leave as much length as possible in The very very front here: okay, so we're going to do the whole entire top that exact way and we're going to take our next section pick up the guide. The second you'll see your guide underneath and again comb it to the very, very front, leaving the front as long as you can, depending on how long it is. You know you can cut it shorter if you want, but it's really you're creative. You know freedom here and you, depending on how you're starting you know, can it can be really very long if you're really really short and helps up to you guys, but I just want to show you the technique of how you go about doing this, because this Is a great way to cut shorter to longer, you know removing weight and also leaving the hair longer in the front, which is also a very, very cool. Look. Okay, so now we've got that whole entire top done and we're now ready to work in through the corners and the sides. Here we left this longer and through here for a reason so brush this out of the way. Remember we buzzed the sides, so we have some work. Our work cut out for us for the sides as well, so we have to definitely figure out what we're going to do that with that. So we can pick up where we left off into the into the back, and now we can work towards the front of the face. There'S our guide and there's the hair that needs to come off right there, the corner, alright, and it's pretty much just following the pattern throughout the entire head: okay and there's what we need to cut right there, there's that corner cut that and round it out right. There so I'm going to continue to do this and, as we get towards very very front in through there, what you can do is you can over direct back towards you? If you want to lead this a little bit longer, we keep in mind what what we have going on in the front here. So I think what we need to do is angle this up a bit because you don't want to have a too long threat to sides into here. Okay, because the front is really the longest part right through here. So you want to make sure you can angle that down this way and work it in like that. Okay, I think that looks a lot better. Then, if you need to, you can go in freehand like that and that's where you start to work everything in and blend it all in okay, scissor over comb in the in the areas where you have a line of demarcation, which we do from what we do With the Clippers - and you just simply do that by working up the head shape, just like you did in the back and that will help soften that line. But I do want to do this a little more when it's dry. So, let's do the same thing on the other side: okay, get rid of this hair in through here we'll cut the corners and we'll blend this into the sides and then we'll come back and we'll see where we're at now. What I'm doing is I'm working on the left side of the head and I'm just over directing back a little bit towards the back of the head and that's going to leave it slightly longer going towards the front okay, you also want to make sure it's blended, But again we're being creative here and you want to make sure that um, you know everything has a nice flow to it as well. Okay, so here we go again with this is rubber comb and you do that just by lifting it out from the head and then connecting in the areas that are longer with the part that are shorter, okay, so you're just really working, it's all in all right, But here's what we have here on this side now: okay, we've got this where it's coming on a little bit longer and we have some hair obviously to work with all right, which means we can either get rid of it or we can leave it. So I want to just cut this a little bit shorter into here and I don't want to create really much disconnection, but I want to create a softer look right coming in through here, but I want to leave this side the longest right on this side. So what you want to do is you want to over direct a little bit coming this way, all right, there's the guide right there and now we're going to cut across all right. Am i cutting across you're, leaving lengths on the other side you're over directing and pulling towards you, so whatever you pull towards you, we let go of it's gon na then go on to the other side. All right, like that, okay see what that's done. It'S created a nice angle like this all right and when we dry it um it'll. Look a lot nicer to just can just keep in mind that it's wet right now. So it's not going to look as good as it will when it's dry. If you want to remove a little more weight, you can pick everything up like this straight up from the head and work it all in and blend it in and remove any excess weight that you want to. Okay now. What I want to do is I want to blow-dry this whole thing and then, when I come back in and then see what we have to work with, and what finishing touches need to make okay, so here's where we're at right now in the very very front I just want to show you guys kind of where things stand and now is it again so it's time to go in scissor over comb and work in any sort of you know harsh lines or anything as you blend it in and obviously now I can see It a little bit better and now I can really really work this in and be a lot more aggressive. So I love dry cutting just for that fact alone that you know, especially on shorter hair or when it involves clippers or anything like that. Just because I can really go in and I could really see the true detail and really see what needs to be done. Okay, so I'm just going to really go throughout the whole head here, working scissor over comb, I'm just going to continue to blend to soften. To shorten, even if I have to what I want, because I really want to create just a softer feel throughout this whole haircut in through here, especially throughout the sides here all right now. As far as the top goes, the top looks pretty good to me. I might want to soften it up a little bit by cutting you know using my thinning, shear and doing some texturizing, but I think right through here, as you can see, needs some some blending and some scissors over combing right into this area. All right now, as you can see what this did, is it created a longer area right into here. So that's why we left it longer so that you can go back in and get rid of it or you can leave it. You know be on the safe side. You can also soften it. This way, okay, just like that, alright, so let's go in and soft this whole thing up and you see, looks it looks much better ready. I'M actually going to switch to my thinning shears right here and let's just jump right into it um. You know you can either pause this or you can just follow along if you have thinning shears, just grab them and, let's start, let's start really getting more aggressive with this. Okay, so right into this area, let's bring this up. This way bring it straight up and I'd say just take out the excess weight. Okay, you can turn the head around now. Work on the other side like this right here, alright and again blend it in use the thinning shears get rid that helps, get rid of any sort of harsh lines as well. It also removes any excess weight, and that's why I love using this. I use this on man I use on on women. Anyone who's got, you know shorter hair and is and need some sort of texturizing or thinning. This is a little heavy right into here. So again, this is a great area and a great example of where to use this alright, and it really really softens it nicely. Let'S use it right in the very very top all right, and we can do that by the same way, cutting it short longer cutting towards the face this way and really just getting there and being really aggressive. All right, just don't be afraid, get in there, especially the client has a lot a lot of hair if the hair is thinner, you don't want to be too aggressive with this, but this is this really works. Well, if the hair is very very, very heavy, this also adds some nice texture for when you're styling it as well. It will allow you to have more piscina stew right here when you're styling it and you're looking for more of an an edgy look. So, let's just bring this straight on here, you can see how things are progress and what we've done? Okay and how it really looks really nice even through here. If you want to get in here and give and go a little bit shorter, you know or even more texture, then you can do that and, as you can see, it's creating a nicer shape all right. So I'm just going to put more finishing touches on this and then we'll be pretty much be finished all right. So what I'm gon na do is I'm gon na use some hairspray to finish this hairstyle off now i met i cut it the other way, but here's what it looks like if you go and part it this way alright, so this hairstyle is pretty versatile. Okay, you can bring it over both both sides, which i think is really really cool. That'S what you want a good haircut now watch se when you bring it over this way. It'S got that longer piece coming right in through here. Okay, just like that, and you know, or you can, if you want, you can even kind of wear it over or back depending on on up. You know on you and and what you're going, what look you're going for? You can even put like a little clip in through here or something I mean whatever you want to do, but I just want to put a little hair spray to finish this off, and this is just going to give a nice little some edit texture to this Whole thing and just give a nice little creative sexy feminine feel to the whole thing. Alright doesn't have to be too crazy. You can put paste in it if you want, but I'm just going to kind of leave it as like this, because I really really like how it looks right now, so I hope you guys really enjoyed this alright guys thanks so much for watching and I'll see You all next time for more tutorials with the salon.

Arletta Sloan: I love you, already, just for what you said at the beginning of the haircut. Buzzing it off there and then working it in through the top is precisely the sort of thing I keep trying to get hairstylists to do, which they just won't. They also won't clean up the neck making it super short and stacked in back. Even though I told them I had this haircut, walking a stylist through it (who listened and was a lovely human being) until she believed me and did it just so, and, then she added to what i knew I wanted, until I had this incredible (really) modified pixie that looked good on me. So, i know I want it and I know it will look good. And, the parts they object to most is the shortness around the ear area and then the shortness and stacking in back, in that order. You'd think I asked for them to sacrifice a finger to me or something. So, I love you. As a person who gives haircuts, anyway. You give me hope.

Sarah McKeen: I have been watching your videos for some time now, and you almost feel like a friend to me :)  I just wanted to say thank you sincerely, for all the work and effort you put into producing your fantastic videos.  Your personality always shines through and I think that might be why you are such a pleasure to watch.  It is very generous of you to share your knowledge, and I, for one, appreciate it very much.
