Hey, what's up welcome to my youtube channel in today's video, I'm gon na be doing a hair cutting video. This is one that you guys have asked for. So let's go alright guys. Welcome to my channel in today's video, I'm gon na be doing a hair cutting video into a kind of lived in Long Bob look and a lot of you guys have been asking for a hair cutting video for me now. As you guys know, I specialize in color, and that is what I love to do, but I wanted to share with you guys, a techniques that I use on my clients all the time, so this is kind of my lived-in hair cutting technique. Alright. So this is our before you guys can see her hair cuts just a little bit. Heavy we're gon na basically be keeping most of the link just kind of doing a trim, but I want to add some internal area you guys can see. She doesn't have really any layers going on so we're gon na add some internal area just to give her some movement and some kind of more of that lived in texture you so for every haircut, client and even color clients. I always give them a really nice head massage because hey clients are here to relax, and so I usually do about a five minute head massage. This is when I don't really talk to them. We just kind of get quiet and silent at the shampoo bowl, but I love to give my clients a head massage, and it honestly was one of the reasons why a lot of clients came back to me in the early days of my career, because I gave A bomb head, massage so sorry for bringing that into your services. If you don't already okay, so I'm going to section her hair, I usually always section the hair based on where the clients normally wear it. So I comb it back and then just kind of push it forward and she normally parts her hair cut it down the middle, so we'll kind of go about there. So we're here over the product cool and then I'm going to section the front from the back. So one way that you can do this really easily is comb the hair kind of down at natural fall and you, if you kind of push up the hair, you can kind of see where the hair naturally wants to kind of part. So you can see like okay, this is kind of where her natural front versus back is it's usually right behind the ear, so I'll kind of take that section and do a clean section, and I don't normally clip away the front. I just kind of comb it in front of the ear and usually twist it around, so that ends up being our front piece, and now I have kind of my back section and I'll do that on this other side, all right and then I'm going to just Section, the back straight down the middle, and one thing I like to do is actually like to put my finger down kind of where the middle of the head is kind of almost back in this area. And then I literally take my comb and I meet my finger and that's a really easy way to section. I learned that in beauty school and it helps you kind of create a little bit cleaner, sectioning, and then you can automatically take that hair into section. In a way, so what I'm going to do is, after I've sectioned it down the middle, I'm going to just take a diagonal back sectioning and I'm just going to do this kind of lower area, and this is going to be our first section like I said, We'Re not doing anything crazy, Alucard, we're just doing more of a trim, so I'm going to do most of this kind of trim, work west and then we're going to do a lot of the texturizing once we dry her hair, okay. So what I normally do is I go it down to kind of natural all right there and I always have my clients tilt their head down and I make sure that their legs are uncrossed and you guys can see then I'll go through and comb it again. Sometimes these little baby hairs like to bounce up underneath. So what we're going to do is we're gon na take about just an inch off. Is that about what you wanted to all right, so we're going to take about an inch off and I'm actually going to do point cutting versus just straight across and the reason? Why is I want this to have more of a kind of lived in natural texture versus it being too perfect? So we're going to be doing right about there you, I always like to check to make sure that the hair is even if it's a little bit longer on this side, so I'll check to make sure that my clients head is actual even and they're, not tilting. It towards one way and then I'll, just kind of trim up the one side. So I'll take my neck section and I usually do it in about inch wide partings, so I'll just keep working up the head. Following my guide that I just created with her length right there and I'm going to be basically just doing a one length haircut and then, like I said, we'll go back in and add that texture once we dry it, you guys can see. There'S my guy that I cut from before and we're just gon na follow that same guy and again I want this to be a little bit shattered, so it is gon na be a little bit not perfect down here, but that's okay. We don't want it to be that blunt straight across line, so obviously we want to make sure that it's even all over, but as far as the actual line goes, we want it to be a little bit more kind of choppy and shatter all right. So I did all the rest of the sections working up exactly the same as what I did before and now I'm at this last section and I combed it all the way down and I'm just going to again just continue on with my guides. You guys can see that the line has gotten a little choppy, which is great. It'S not that like perfect straight across line, which is exactly what I'm going for. So I'm really liking the texture and even though it's wet, I can already see that texture starting to happen all right. I just finish the back and I got to the sides, and so what I'm going to do is I'm going to just take this section? Basically, in half most people's hairline and the front isn't as thick, so I usually only do about two sections on the side. But again obviously it depends on the client. So then, I'm just going to calm it down a natural fall and I make sure my clients head is nice and straight looking straight, because I want to make sure her head was tilted down. Then I might be cutting a different line by the time she brings. It up straight, it might be a little bit different, so we want to make sure that our clients head is straight forward and I'm going to kind of cut her hair. You guys can see there for my guy from the back and I am going to do a little bit diagonal a little bit longer in the front, because I just like that look so I'm meeting a kind of with this back section here and my god right There and she corner, sometimes people feel like this corner is a little funky, but you just literally kind of blend it in and then so once I finished the sides. What I like to do is I always like to check the links into the mirror, so I'll use my mirror look into the mirror to see if there's actual, if it's even and that's why working with the mirror is really important, it looks really great so now What we're gon na do is were actually gon na drive her hair and we're gon na do some layering and texturing and then also play with these of things. Let'S see try that alright, so I just finished blow-drying your hair and before I get to the rest of the haircut, I actually want to do her bangs, because look how long they're there in her eyes are bugging her. So what I'd like to do with my clients, is I like to find them look down for me? I like to find kind of the spot right on the top of their head, where their bangs start, and then I take my comb and I just draw almost in line to about where their temple is go ahead and look up for me, and so I kind Of draw from here all the way: don't you like, just outside the corner of the eyebrow or to the temple, and then I clip away the rest of the suction, because it's tempting to want to cut into this area. And then you end up getting things that are just too white, so you guys can see that even this part, we probably won't even trim so I'll. Do that on the other side too, and you guys can see with her. She has this little widow's peak area. I'M actually going to click that away, because we don't want that to be part of the bangs right here, because if that, because for the bangs and she's gon na have these awkward little short pieces. So we always want to keep this out of the way. So I like to call my bangs at natural fall, and actually this is how I direct my clients, if they wanted to here at Ulmer, trim their banks. This is how I tell them to do it. I tell them to sign their suction kind of comb. It down click away the hair, and this will help them kind of control, cut their bags if they do have to cut them at home, and so what I had to do is I just take her hair and I always obviously do this dry. We would never do this wet and if you guys see these like little hairs that are longer right here to me, that is part of the bangs. It'S been a little while, since I've cut her hair, she's, probably trimmed up in between a little bit. Yes, she has so these are just going to be. This is probably old part of the banks. I am gon na turn that so what I like to do is I always like to start on the longer side versus the shorter side and just kind of go in and just kind of trim them up here. Hers were pretty grown out pretty long, but again I want to make sure that we're not like going too short with them, so I always start a little bit longer and then we'll work our way up just do another slight micro trim until we get them to The right length all right so now we've got. I got to the link where we're happy with I spun around better look in the mirror that is discover your hobby with, but you guys can see. They'Re still pretty blunt, so I like to texturize my bangs a little bit and what I do is I'll. Take a small, subsection and I'll hold it directly up above the head, and you guys can see that. There'S like this point and so to texturize it. I just kind of texturize into this little triangle right here, because that's where all the weight is held, so I usually like to leave some of this hair out like this is her borderline hair. So we don't want to cut into that. You guys can see. She'S got a little cowlick where it jumps up there, so I don't want to texturize into that. So I'm just gon na barely kind of notch into this right here. You guys could see it kind of got rid of that little corner right. There drop it down. Do the same thing on this side and even just some deep point cutting into where her bangs are not too much, because we don't want it to be too texturized. But this is almost kind of layering, her bangs and you can see how that just softly kind of text right since I'm just a little tiny bit and then I'm going there just kind of detail where I feel like it needs a little bit more. Sometimes, on these quarters, mines have a little bit thicker here. You guys can see. There'S like a good thickness right there, so it's kind of texture. Is it all the way all the way around to her head in sections and what I did was I did about you know a little bit inch inch and a half wide sections, and I held them there up directly above her head and what I did was You guys could see again there's this corner, that we have kind of going on in the hair, and so I took this corner and I basically just kind of texturized into it and almost cut it off. So you guys can see the corner went up like that, and I just kind of cut that off and texturized into it and did this around her entire head. This is going to allow her to have some bit of layering in there, but not enough where it's going to really cause like where you've seen Larry I'll show you guys on this section right here. This is kind of the last one. Around her face same thing. Hold it up all the way up and too directly above her head, and you guys can see, there's kind of my guidelines from the section before kind of texturize into that with some white cutting you guys can see now. She'S got just a tiny, tiny bit of layering in there just to kind of break up this bottom line, but not enough where it's gon na cause any like flipping or anything like that. All right, so I'm gon na do some face framing around her hairline. You guys can see she's got a little bit in there, but I want to kind of blend in these bangs that we just did so. What I'm gon na do is I'm going to hold it between my fingers and I'm going to just slowly slide cut down around her hairline, and I like this technique because it gives us a nice layering around the front there like because it blends in her bangs, Really really nicely alright. So now I'm going to kind of cut into her perimeter, you guys can see even though we texturize and you know, point cut it or entire perimeter. It still is a little bit heavy in there. So I just do some deep point. Cutting - and this just helps to kind of break - it up gets her a little bit more of that texture that we're looking for a little bit more shattered feeling not too crazy, but it does gon na just break up that line around your perimeter all right. So I'm liking our cuts already, laying it's laying really nicely, but what I want to do is I want to add a little bit more internal area, so I actually grabbed my thinning shears here I like these ones from fun zone, and so I'm gon na take A section now, I'm not gon na, do this directly around the hairline, so just a little bit further back from the hairline and then take my section and I'm just gon na do sound internal like cutting with my thinning shears. So I don't want to do this on the top layer, because I don't want there to be, like short hairs on the top layer, I'm gon na be doing it internally, so I'm just gon na literally take this and you guys can see I'm just kind of Barely cutting and opening my shears as I'm pulling down the hair and comb that out and you guys can see that it will create a little bit of internal texturizing without it be like chunks taken out of the hair. So we'll do this just a few. Throughout the entire internal, this is gon na take some weight out of her hair. She does have a lot of hair a lot of weight, but it's also gon na kind of give up some of those internal layers just to give her some movement as she curls her hair. Alright, so I'm going through and I'm curling her hair - and I just did it three sections: I've done this video before, if you guys want to check it all, actually just link it in the description box below this is obviously the same technique, just one shorter hair, But what I like to do is I like to leave out the ends of the curls so that it gets kind of more of that lived-in look, [ Applause, ], all right, so just finish, curling her hair! I haven't poked it out with my fingers yet, but I am gon na use the Kendra dry volume first spray. This is a new product from them. I love it. It'S one of my favorite products, especially for girls, that have kind of that. Fine hair that doesn't have a lot of texture in it, so what I'm gon na do is I'm actually going to lift up her roots and I'm going to spray it in to the shaft. Then your chef's right here and just kind of underneath a little bit. I love love, love this braids, almost in between, like a dry shampoo and a texture spray, but it's one of my favorite products, especially for clients that have this kind of hair, gives it that current in texture - and I love using it in myself, too, and then. Lastly, I'm just going to finish with a Kendra 25. This is like your classic hairspray, it's a good whole! That'S why I like it and it's just one of like a good classic hair sprays. Alright - and this is our final look so lived-in. I love this haircut because it's just a really great shape adds a lot of texture to the hair, while still keeping it one length feeling, but not having a lot of flip going on like the mom haircut. So I love it. I think you guys will like it. I recommend trying out for these techniques all right guys. Thank you so much for watching this video. Steffan James: I would love to see more hair cutting videos I'm definitely more of a colorist cutting hair has always been somewhat of a struggle for me because I think I probably over-complicate things in my mind so watching you keep things simple and classic makes me feel better.

Chaz Mahlum: Love this technique! Normally use it on clients who don't want obvious layers but don't want a blunt cut either. Thanks for sharing

Maria Moctezuma: I’m so in love with all your cuts-and always so thoughtful with your clients.

Jackalope Gal: MOREEEE CUTS!!!!! Also, maybe if we could venture into all over white blondes or vivids!!! I would loooove to see that from you ! <3

Lauren DuVall: Love this! I always get excited when I see a new video from you! I’ve learned so much from you and I apply your techniques in my chair all the time!

Dante Velasquez: So well done. You have an instinctive sense of balance. You should really do stylist training classes. that cut screams for a soft caramel balayage lol

Darling Tarot: Love love love your videos !! This was a great cutting one ! You’re an amazing stylist I’m a hairstylist myself. It looked like her legs were crossed when you moved to the side. Just a tip if they were. Always tell them to uncross their legs so they body isn’t off balance ☺️ no hate just thought I would mention!! Keep up the awesome videos girl ! Love from Canada ❤️

Missy Megginson: Love it Jamie!!! Sometimes less is more!!! This cut is one that anyone can go out and execute with ease following your steps!!!

Ashley Andersen: Love these techniques!!! These are so usable in the salon! Love your videos, I am an Oh Hot Gram Member, getting back into it for the new year, I just had a baby in October and just got back to work a few weeks ago. Looking forward to growing my business in the new year. Looking forward to more Tutorials!

Susan Mather Barone: Love this! I've been growing out my shorter bob and this is my goal. I am definitely getting that Kenra dry volume burst spray too.

Rara Avis: Very nice. Love how the hair suddenly looks textured and ‚alive‘ in the end. A longbob without these little tricks usually just ends up boring, shoulderlength hair.

Sam Carpenter: Thank you for creating this channel! You have the cutest salon. I would love to see more cuts and it would be amazing if you could make a video discussing cosmetology salary. <3

Myya Suhl: Love the hair cutting videos!!! Would love to see more!!

Bethany Selles: Love this Jamie!! Such a beautiful cut, what kind of scissors do you use? I'm looking at upgrading and am totally intimidated in choosing a new pair.

Stephanie Costigan: i love this!!! definitely going to ask to use this technique at school!!! we don’t get a lot of dry cutting opportunities but this gets me excited ❤️❤️

Amber Rose: I am going through and assistant program at my salon and this video was so helpful!! Absolutely love your videos!

Elisabeth Schlarb: I love this! I tend to get mega triangle head so I am going to ask for internal layering with the thinking shears next time I go in!

Caroline Snellgrove: I love the haircutting video. This was really helpful. Keep the videos coming! ❤️

Diana Mendez: This video really helped out!! I would love to see more!!!!

Rosi Rodriguez: Such a great video! New subscriber here. So helpful and clear instructions. Would love to see more of these!

Deborah T: This lob is versatile and fun. I love the length, texture, front fringe, the beachy waves, and most of all "no mom flip" at the ends. The length is long enough to still put up into a french twist, messy bun, pony tail or braid. I like this length the best on myself because the hair still circles around the head into the front and is swingy at the shoulder length. I find once my hair gets a bit longer most of it goes to the back, and I lose the complete "look" of a beautiful swishy bob.

v soun: Thanks Jamie! I have found a perfect vdo for a lob!!! You've made it look so easy ❤️❤️. Can't wait to try this technique. More haircut vdo pls!!

Stephani Hartzell: These are my favorite cuts to do. So satisfying!

Wendy Barnes: This was super helpful!! I hate that flip with these lengths so I'm definitely going to try these techniques out! Thank you for sharing.

Salon Bellissima: Beautiful job as always! I love kenra products and their color is amazing.

silkesilke100: YES to the cutting tutorials! I'm still in school and I'm struggling so much with cutting layers and face frames. I sometimes cut my friend's hair but it's on the thinner side and I just can't seem to get layers and face frame right to on her..

Tracy: I love this hair cut. I like how you did the sides. Does that cause the hair to split or become more fragile when you slide the scissors down.

iheartsummer87: I just did a haircut like this last week!! It was more of an Aframe but she loved it!

Brave Girl: Thanku for this video so much. I just started cutting my own bangs and love the video u just made.

Annie Lewis: Such an insightful and helpful video, I will definitely put some of your cutting techniques to the test!! Thank you for sharing!!!

Glenis Elle: Yessss to the haircutting videos. Love your work. Happy holidays ❤️

Lynley Kapesis: I loved this haircutting video. It was very thorough and detailed!! What kind of shears and comb did you use?

Cecilia O: I was a hair model recently and they called that cutting technique sushi grassing. I loved it and will never forget. My haircut was a lot like your models beforehand. Now it’s a shag. I’m finding it a strange transition from a lob. Great video! A bob was my second cut in class and it was a challenge.

C. M.: Love these techniques and def salon usable!! Thank you!!

Mariam H.: I have zero interest in learning how to cut/color hair, I go to the salon to get mine done, but I am obsessed with your videos. I just really love watching you do your magic

Delamore official: Amazing thanks for showing us ur techniques always loved a great lob cut ❤️ will be applying some of ur techniques used

Stephanie Wade-Onnen: she has the same hair texturize i do! love this!

Linda Lincoln: Love this haircut! For this length do I ask my hairdresser for a shoulder length haircut all one length with texturing at the bottom and interior?( I am not a hairdresser).

Rhonda Morgan: Great video! I learned a few things! Thank you so much!

Angela Rosado: Love it! More cuts please!

Joelle Elise: Yes!! Love this so much! Would definitely love to see more cutting videos

Ac Haley: Really nice work! ❤️

LeaAnne Poillucci: Thank you Jamie!

buffalo 12: Great job love your technique

Cynthia L: this ✂..perfection. More of everything XXOO. Merry Christmas.. Come do my

Maartje Goede: I wish i had a face for this haircut. My favorite haircut, so cute and bad ass.

kenz: this is where i have trust issues, that wouldve been 2 inches to me in a trim. if i said i wanted an inch off and that much hair was taken off i wouldve had a heart attack

LauraKat87: This lady I work with (she has been doing hair 30 years bless her) she always gives me so much crap about giving a long relaxing shampoo, she says clients don’t care about it and I’m wasting time. My clients like it though, that’s all that matters.

pbandjamie26: What texture shears do you use? What brand?

daizz x: yesss loved this haircut video. Thanks

Siamsiami: Would love to see more hair cutting videos

John Cortesi: Beautiful work and you’re soooooooooo cool

Isabel Lopez: ENHORABUENA CHULISIMO LA TÉCNICA DE CORTE GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR TUS TÉCNICAS SALUDOS

Katlynn Alcorn: I’m newer to your page & I LOVE it. Youre awesome! Did you go to Aveda?

Tracy Guenther: Head massage surely does make you want to come back. Love them!

Maria Gomez: It gives me Joyce Byers vibes. It’s so pretty!!

Kelly Klonowski: So point cutting into the ends a bit will help with the "mom flip"? I literally use my thinning shears on about 9 out of 10 clients. If u have layers, I always texturize them.. it makes such a difference!! Then I work with some girls that are terrified to use them.. I couldn't imagine not using them!!

H H: What’s size shears is your favorite for wet cutting??

baharhart: Ironically I’ve cut women’s hair like this long before it became popular but I styled it differently!! For me the bangs still looked to heavy and could’ve used more texturing to lighten them up more but this is just me and the way I cut hair!!

Ashley Louise: Omg I learn so much from your videos!

Hala Kh: You are great in hair colour and in cutting too

Michelle Kendle: You and I cut so similar!

Iris J: would love a color video on curly haired or coarser textured clients.

Lee Sennett: Great Video. Going to try this in Salon. What Scissors do you use ?

Stephanie Ikner: Yes please please do more hair cutting videos!

BlackThornRose127: Hi Jamie! I love your work! This is totally off topic, but A light bulb went off when you were shampooing your client’s hair. Maybe you can help clarify if this has any truth to it or it’s just a myth...I’ve had a couple people that work in skincare tell me that maybe my haircare products are causing the texture/acne around my hairline, especially what I use in the shower because that’s when the product can get into the pores. It’s mostly on the forehead and at the temple area. Of course I’ve seen a dermatologist to get products to treat it, but they couldn’t answer if this might be a cause. I don’t always stick to one brand, but I only use products from professional haircare brands. I mainly use Pureology, but when it comes to hair masks I like to branch out. Any thoughts?? Thanks :)

TheMinatarie: Hairstylist to Hairstylist that was way more than an inch! Love the end results though.

Dara Hales: This might be a dumb question but what is the benefit of sectioning the hair when cutting vs just cutting all of the hair together

Travis Le: Can anybody tell me what version of the hot tools curling iron she is using? Thank you.

Lynn Sargent: Your so easy to follow X

light: I’m not a hairstylist but I watch your video

Silver Mont: Well done sister ❤️

vicki Johnson: You work so similar to me

Bree Doyle: What scissors do you use?

Angelica Nunes: Giiirrlllll.... you got a new subscriber I love your vids

Susan W: I am new to your videos. Love how you color/cut . Could you tell me what city/state you are located?

June Hawks: You look so happy when working. Very pretty smile.

Beauty Lover: MORE MORE MOREEEE ❤️❤️

Gavin Ray: Can you please do a video more in depth about shadow roots and talk about different shades and when to use them because I don't think that I quite get it

Alissa Glover: I just realized who your client is ❤️ I’m pretty sure I know!

Stacy Nicole: OMGoodness! Where are you located and can you do my hair? Really great vid, thank you!

Liza: Omg we cut hair basically the same

Aide Olmos: i love you nails!!!

muskndusk: I wasn't expecting to like this cut, but it looks really nice on the model. What are internal layers?

Sonja Pierce: Where did you get the head rest?

Linda Lincoln: Would of been better with a white cape. Hard to see unblock. Great video.

Marina Gisela Medina: I love it.. .she's Annastasia STEEL
