My name is Lucy, I'm a Dutchwoman here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.

On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!

I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my little passion project.

You'll find a bit of lifestyle content here as well, ranging from cozy chats over a cup of tea (my beloved Tea Time videos) to personal vlogs and home & interior videos.

Hey guys welcome to a new video today I have a hair tutorial for you and we are going to revisit the Edwardian era. I'M gon na show you how to do this beautiful soft, romantic hairstyle inspired by the super gorgeous and popular actresses of the time. Let'S get started with the tutorial straight away. This is a hairstyle that definitely needs to be done on curled hair, so I strongly recommend doing some overnight curls. It makes this hairstyle quicker to finish in the morning and it's also less damaging to your hair. I'M gon na be using the curling iron today because I am wearing some hair extensions that I need to curl as well, and I need to curl my bangs so of my curls, I'm gon na work for me in this case, so I'm gon na just start By spreading my hair with some heat protector, and then I am going to be try setting my hair, which means that I will curl individual strands and every time I have made it curl, I won't just let it go, but I will coil it up and pin It to my head and let it cool in that position. I'M gon na go section by section now, don't worry too much about things like direction and the shape and preciseness of your curls. All this is going to be pinned up. Obviously, so there's no need to pay too much attention to that all right, so I'm gon na slide my curl off off the iron pinch it so that it forms this little roll roll it up all the way to my scalp and then pin it down there Until I've done older, I set my hair as well, so I'm gon na do that to all of my hair and then I will be back to show you the next step. Okay, my hair is all curl it's in curls and I've, given it a few minutes to completely cool down. So now I'm going to take down my curls again and we can get started on the hairstyle. Of course, if you are doing overnight curls, then this is kind of where you begin by just taking down your curls closer, and this is a very good base to start working on this hairstyle. So first I am just going to carefully run my fingers through the curls separate them a little bit, because we want the hair to be nice and big and fluffy. We are dealing Edwardian era, roll, so big and fluffy and firmly frizzy is really what we're going for here now for the front, there are several different things you can do, and this mostly depends on your personal preference in those pictures that I use as inspiration. The ladies generally have their hair parted in the center, but you could definitely do a parting that is slightly off-center as well. If that works better for your hair, which is what I'm gon na do, because I feel like it'll, be easier to make my bangs cooperate and move to the side that way, I'm just gon na do a little bit of a side parting. Here I'm going to brush through just this hair in the front, which is the portion that's going to be pulled back and in front of the headband that I'm gon na use. I mean to be using this headband that has a silk flower attached to it. It is pretty period-accurate, they would have used lots of embellishments in their hand. All of the ladies are wearing a headband, and I just feel like that works really well with this grecian-inspired hairstyle. Let me actually put that on the other side, so I'm going to gently pull all my hair through and now I just want to loosen up the front here a little bit so that it's nice and smoothly don't be afraid to make it almost a little bit Ridiculously voluminous feel like when people or create Edwardian hair they tend to under, do it rather than overdo it. So don't be shy. Okay, so that's the fronds of the hairstyle done gon na even actually go over my ears a little bit. So, let's move on to the back of the head at this point, the back of my hair is just a big mass of curls, which is actually great. We want that again as much volume as possible, so what I am going to do with this hairstyle is to arrange these curls in the back of my head in a nice and flowy romantic soft way. Actually, this is pretty much what we're gon na do, we're just with a little bit more order to it, so I actually just going to be taking strands, and every time I take a strand, I'm gon na encourage the curls to clump together, so that they will Naturally, roll up and I'll be able to make a little twist, so I'm going to be creating these little rolls and every time I make one, I'm gon na just slide a pin through the center. So now it's face up and that's what I'm gon na be doing all over the back of my head until all of the hair is incorporated and I've created loads and little spirals and be sure when you are pinning these not to pin them too tightly because We want to keep this nice and voluminous at all times now, when you're doing this also be sure to alternate between the directions that you roll in and also the size of the curls. We don't want any part of this to look too uniform. Another thing to be mindful of you, want the hairstyle to end in curls and not hairline, so make sure that your curls kind of extend below the point where your hairline is so make sure not to have like this piece showing you want to have curls covering The entire back of your head for a more authentic look all right, so when you're done, you can go back and check if there are any bits that need a bit more attention that are maybe too loose or too tight. Just stick some extra boy pins in. If you want to be super historically accurate, you will use hair, pins or other than bobby pins. I'D say it doesn't matter too much. So when you're done it should look a little something like this. So there it is a very pretty and soft hairstyle inspired by the beautiful extras of old. So I really hope you enjoyed this well hair tutorial guys if you did don't forget to give a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel for loads monkey and lifestyle content. Heidi Hernandez: Why does every decade look good on you???!!

Bella Capulet: My goodness this is the exact style I was looking for for my wedding! I have a gorgeous dress that has a beautiful button back, and I'm wearing my mother's and my grandmother's hair piece, it's a small flower crown made completely out of wax and wire I'm only wearing it for just the ceremony because it's so delicate and heavy but I'm so excited! I've been looking for a beautiful updo! Your timing is impeccable!

Màiri 5486: Greetings from Germany. I admire your historical tutorials. Could you please do a hair tutorial of the braided updo Madame de Volanges has in Dangerous Liaisons or a very similar hairstyle from Jenny in Outlander (Season 1 Episode 14 ) ? Very curious about how it was done

Kota W.: This would make a lovely wedding hairstyle. It's just so soft and romantic, like so many other Edwardian hairstyles.

Between the Old and the New: Absolutely lovely updo, thanks for sharing! Just curious, Edwardian has a strong history of puffing up even more, so you think a cushion might work underneath the back part for some more volume? Keep up the great work, I really find them so inspiring!

Ashley Miranda: You're so beautiful, I wish I had hair as beautiful as yours. I lost a lot of hair due to a hormonal imbalance last year and I'm slowly gaining back some volume, all of your tips and hairstyles focused on volume really help me, so thank you!

DoctorandtheDoll: Your videos about Edwardian looks really opened my eyes to the beauty of that era. I even chose an Edwardian-style dress for my wedding this summer! Thanks for all the inspiration .

Wayne Lucas: As a hairdresser I think you’re amazing. I really enjoy your videos

goodnighthelana: This looks absolutely amazing on you, and the tutorial was amazing and seems very easy to follow. My hair is far too short to do this unfortunately.

Iris L: This hairstyle is so pretty! You have such a timelessly beautiful face that looks lovely with hairstyles of so many different time periods.

Carla Concé: You are one of my all time favorite youtubers. I’ve followed you for years and years, and I never get tired of your content!!

A A: So simple&elegant! I was searching exactly for something like that :)

MORTICIA 1975: Beautiful! I love this look! Great job!

Marie TC: I really love this hairstyle ! I just finished watching a French tv show called « le bazar de la charité » which takes place in Paris in 1897. There are a lot of really gorgeous and diverse hairstyles (my favorite ones are worn by the character Alice ). Even if you don’t watch the show (which is really really good) you might like the hairstyle inspo ! If you do check it out, I would love to see an hairstyle reproduction! Love ya ❤️

Cynthia Basso: you always make these look so beautiful and easy! have a great day x

lilylyly301: She makes me want bangs and long hair omg I love her so much

Hevynly1: That's so beautiful on you!! So well done!

aestheticallyaspiring: Gosh this is so pretty! can’t wait to try this

J N Pretty On Top: Oooh hooray!! I love it when you do anything Victorian or Edwardian!

narapo: I love your hair tutorials! So inspiring

Catherine Levison: I did enjoy this, I love your historical hair and clothing videos. Thank you!

Rachel Lesch: Could you do some ancient Roman or Greek hairstyles or some medieval hairstyles

Elizabeth Jansen: For someone who has never touched a iron hair thing, (I forget what it’s called, sorry) do you have suggestions maybe (please) as how to keep the hair healthy? I’m so new, all I know is half bun (it’s terrible) and standard braid (which isn’t so bad, but definitely not fantastic). Thanks for any (potential) tips from literally anyone. =3 Also, Loepsy! You are fabulous!

Amee Foster: Love it! Would you have any ideas for curling and styling hair for those of us with chronic illness? My muscles fatigue very easily and quickly.

graleh: Omg this is stunning <3

Sprinklez: I love this look on you! I was wondering what size curling iron do you use?

Victorian Squirrel: I‘m growing out my hair again - I figured that the only historical hairstyles I can pull off with bangs are 20s ones, so I chopped all of it off. You give me hope in incorporating my bangs in cute hairstyles.

Tammy Masson: That hairstyle really looks good on you!

sunita thind: Omg this is incredibly pretty thanks from the uk

Wanda Pease: Your opening hair style is lovely on you!

Elizabeth V: Yes! I have been growing my hair for two years and i have been looking for victorian hairstyles

Tony: Encantador <3

Tari Tangeo: I would try to wet- set extentions and pin-curl bangs. Not because Im a hair health connosieur but because, even if I dont remember it, apparently at the age of four i grabbed hot curling iron with my bare hand and im still terrified of them.
