A french twist is a timeless sophisticated and elegant hairstyle that never seems to go out of style. Most Hollywood celebrities regularly go for it and over last couple of years it was seen on Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie, Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox, Eva Mendez, Sharon Stone, Amanda Seyfried, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Winslet, Julia Robert, Marion Cotillard, Rihanna and many others. French twist has different variations that can make it look either romantic or sleek and polished, and today I will show you a classic look inspired by the hairstyle worn by Eva Longoria on Golden Globes 2011 (by the way, Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman, Carrie Underwood and Emma Stone also appeared on this event wearing french twists!).

This glamorous and chic hairdo is perfect for all formal special occasions and evening events such as prom, homecoming, graduation party, ball, reception, wedding guests. This dressy red carpet hairstyle will also look great as a bridal or bridesmaid hairdo.

Hi guys today, I'm going to show you how to create a highly requested French twist. This particular loop is actually inspired by Eva Longoria's hairstyle. The first thing we want to here is the follow. We want to take all the hair from the top and section it off and after that we want to use all the remaining hair to form a French twist. I start from twisting my hair and bring this up and, as I keep on twisting it, it naturally shapes into a French twist. I want to tug the ends of my hair into this twist and after that I secure it at the very top using hair, pins or bobby pins. At this point, I do not want to secure my hair in the middle of the twist. I will do it later now. I want to release this hair at the top and start volumizing it by teasing. So I take the first section and I gently tease it near the roots only near those I bring it back and I proceed to the following section at some points are going to pause to even out all the hair that I've just ceased now. It is doing all the hair together and at this point I might already want to use some hairspray. I will use some more hairspray at the end, but now with all the flyaways to make sure that all the hair goes in the right direction in the months. I have brought all my hair together just like this. I want to take the ends of this hair, then simply tack them into my French twist. So, just as I said, I tagged the ends of my hair into the French twist and secure it amongst twist using hair pins. My own hair is very thin, so I need just a couple of pins, but if your hair is long as thick, you may need to use quite a lot of them. You want to place the pins right next to each other gently grabbing, some hair from the twist by wetting outwards and grabbing some scalp hair under the twist after I make all the final corrections looking in the second mirror and place in my hair, where it looks Best, my French twist is ready, and before this look is finished, we still have to decide what to do with this front section of hair. So we can either leave it like this or do something different. So, for example, we could direct it over the forehead. It'S very easy to do once your hair is texturized, after that we just want to spray this hair with some hairspray. So this is how it looks like as well. Alternatively, we could also bring all this hair back this way, we'll get a somewhat more modern. Look. It can stay a little bit messy, that's how I prefer it and again use some hair spray on this hair and you're totally ready to go. I thank you very much for watching and I hope that you found this tutorial useful, bye, bye,

Jelena Haj: I just tried this style, and it was the simplest, quickest and very elegant up-do for my fine hair. Surprising as I am normally too clumsy to do anything nice with my hair. Thank you!

JadeyFadeyMCR: I can never tease my hair, it literally won't stay in that backcombed position. In addition I've never managed to make bobby-pins stay in my hair. They always slide out (and putting hairspray on them only makes them gross and sticky, but doesn't keep them in my hair). Apart from that I love the french twist! =)

Maria-Elena Galea: Thank you for the videos. they are very helpful. I did this updo to a friend with a different twist. Here in Malta our hair is very thick and its difficult to tuck the hair under the twist. If you want i can send you a photo and you can use it to do another similar video for those who have thick hair. Thank you looking forward to see more video with brilliant ideas :)

Alta Hanlon: A 3 way rear view mirror can be made from 3 mirrors joined together with hinges which would make arranging these updos alot easier by freeing up both hands. I've had a 3 way mirror in my bathroom for 45 years and would be lost without it. I love these classy updos which make more sense than going for a cut every 6 weeks or so. Beautiful work!

Hannah Pascual: Love the hairstyle!! I am going to try it very soon! ;)

killerteeth: So elegant! Great job!

Panda Princess: My hair seems too thick for this hairstyle, when I try to pin it, the bobby pins just slide right out, or the don't secure to both the hair in the twist and the scalp. . . Does anyone have any advice regarding how to help them be properly secured?
