In this quick, step-by-step, curly, holiday hair tutorial video, I'm going to show you how to do an elegant, and yet relaxed, half-up, half-down updo hairstyle - with voluminous curls, on yourself, for short, medium, or long hair.
Cute hairstyles like these can be worn as a wedding hair, bridal hair, bridesmaids hair, to the prom, homecoming, to a date, or to Christmas, and New Year's eve parties.
If you're fond of long hairstyles, the poofy ponytails will look great as school hairstyles.

First, if you have straight hair, curl the back of your head with a curling iron or a flat iron. If your hair is naturally curly, you can skip the curling part for this.
For a formal, fancy party, a wedding, prom, or for a bridal occasion, use a 1" curling iron. For an everyday hairstyle, for school, or even for a casual holiday party- Christmas and New Year's eve, use a 2" curling iron to create loose waves instead of tight curls.
After curling your hair, make a mid-ponytail. Mid ponytails are tied directly above the ears.
With all the hair left out of the ponytail, we're going to curl it, section by section, before pinning it on top of the ponytail, to create a curly, half-up, half-down hairstyle.
Make sure to alternate sides to create an intricate, crisscross appearance to your fancy updo. When you no longer have hair left to curl, you can wear it like that - as a curly, holiday half-updo - or gather all the hair, into a ponytail to be worn as a voluminous, retro ponytail with curls. If your ponytails is looking droopy, you can either use a hair padding to create more body or volume, or use a hair clamp. You can buy either on Amazon or on eBay for less than a dollar.

Hi everyone I'm Tina, and today I'm going to show you how to do a 10 minute, formal half updo, that you can also wear as a voluminous ponytail part your hair behind your ears and curl it with the one-inch curling iron, before putting it up in a Mid ponytail, if your hair is already curly, you can skip the curling part. Now we're simply going to curl all the hair left out of their ponytail and pin it on top of the elastic so starting on the crown grab a small section and curl it away from your face. Let it curl for about five to 10 seconds, depending on the thickness of your hair, and then lady curl strand, across the elastic before pinning it in place. Take another strand, curl it and again later cross the previous strand. We'Re going to do this while alternating sides, until we run out of hair if you're doing this for a wedding, I recommend using a one-inch curling iron, but for an everyday look, use an inch and a half to two inch, curling irons to get loose waves. Instead of tight curls, I'm using a one-inch curling iron today, because I was reminded that I haven't done a really fancy hairstyle in a while - and I know that my outfit doesn't exactly go with this hairstyle here, but I only have one formal dress and honestly, I Just got sick of wearing the same dress in all of my formal tutorials, but let me know what kind of dress you would wear with this hairstyle in the comment section. I know someone is going to ask this so for people who have hard to curl hair use a setting lotion like the Red King hot, set 22 before curling your hair. You way you now. We just need to make the ponytail more perky, because it's looking quite droopy right here normally, I use a hair petting to create a bump. However, most normal people don't keep hair pettings around the house. So what you can do instead is use a small hair clamp to create a bomb. Since I don't have a hair clamp here, I'm going to use a theropod to show you what I mean, and in case you don't know what Sara paws are and since I couldn't live without them, I'm gon na tell you what these things do for you. Basically, they protect your toothbrushes from germs, like poops. I know it sounds gross, and most people are not even aware of this, but it's scientifically proven that when you flush your toilet, the poop gets all up in the air and lands on things like your toothbrushes and then you go and put that in your mouth. So just imagine how gross that is. So what this clamp does is keep your toothbrushes covered. First of all, and then it disinfected by releasing germ fighting vapors, that's around your toothbrush, so you just simply take it out of the pack and clamp it on and nothing else is required. It'S also really great for people like me who travel and who freelance a lot only downside is that I wish they had maybe clamps stronger, so I could use it for other things like my hair when it expires in three months and it has to be replaced. I usually buy these from Bed Bath & Beyond, so you can get them there.
