Hey guys Steven a salon guy here and today we're going to do a Charlize Theron inspired haircutting tutorial, we've seen a variety of looks with Charlize and she has had her hair on a relatively shorter side, which i think looks great on her. So I'm gon na show you guys how to achieve that. My first section, I'm actually taking rights on the side here on the hairline, I'm gon na continue all the way through the sides and the back, because I'm gon na take this really really tight in through. Here so I'm gon na start right around the hairline and show you how to create that nice tapered look for this type of haircut okay. So what we've done is basically combed everything straight down to around the hairline here around the ear and around the around the nape and created our shape to get it nice and tight around the ear. Then what I'm going to do is come in this on a diagonal vertical section and then layer, everything throughout the back and then do this on the other side as well. So I've got this completed, I'm going to then layer. It like I did exactly on the other side to the side parting here, so something what we're going to do is we're going to cut find water. Our guide is from coming in diagonally and cut everything then vertically up and down to connect the bottom and the top here. So I'm going to go throughout the whole back and connect everything together, which will create our complete back and then sides. Some of you've got the back, completed and part of the sides I'm going to connect the sides with the top. So I'm just going to do this panel by panel move this hair out of the way and simply connect everything together vertically right. So I'm gon na do is that work this into the very front cut this piece shorter into here, and everything I cut on top was basically all horizontal straight across and I'm going to connect the corners now into the top and then cut this shorter and then Blend this in and then we'll be done. So what I want to show you is it's very, very crucial and, as you can see, as I'm cutting I'm pretty aggressive and when you're doing scissor over comb, I like to cut hair. Well, you know what into dry, because that's the best way to see on the shorter hair and with a lot of different hairstyles. You can see the hair drying into this shape that you're, looking for and with shorter hair. You know you can be a little more aggressive, so what I like to do like with so is I'm just moving my thumb along and I'm working the comb around the head shape, which is going to allow me to really blend everything in really really nicely and And the pieces that need to be blended in or going to just kind of pop out at you and you'll know exactly where to cut them, so the key to short hair a lot of times, it's just being a little more aggressive. You know really getting in there and working everything together like so, and you know, as you know, with mannequin hair, it's not going to lay completely flat, even though it is human hair. Just the way it lays on on mannequins isn't always the friendliest, but again even on this side, you really want to be aggressive, work, everything so they'll work home and as it dries, you can really get a good feel of how everything is going to blend together. So I'm just going to keep finishing this up and then want to texturize the top a little bit, keep doing some freehand cutting and then we're going to finish it up and then style it well. Here we've got very close to the finished look and I think it looks actually pretty good. You know and again, as you know, with the mannequin heads it doesn't lay as smooth. Sometimes I get the comments going, you know, can you get it? It should be short on the sides. You know men can hear likes to pop out and if I cut it too short, it looks like there's nothing there, so I try to do as close as I can to getting it tight as possible with it still showing a little bit. So you can see the shape. What I'm going to do is I'm going to put a little bit paste in here. That'S why I'm gon na style it and then we'll be good to go once again, I'm using my Paul Mitchell tea tree shaping cream, which is one of my favorite products for wet women with short hair men with short hair. This is really really a great great product. There'S the amount I'm using. I like to always use this when the hair is dry and I'm going to just work it through my palm, and here I'm going to start because, because of the, the specific look does have more of a part, so I'm going in really right on the part. Just to kind of show the separation and then I'm going to work the sides and they get the sides to lay down a little bit more. So you really want to work this in to get the hair tool a pretty pretty smooth throughout the sides and the back and then the front is basically you know just kind of spiked up a little bit, and I think it looks amazing now, with this type Of look you can do you can actually do quite a few different types of things. You can wear this a little bit. You know higher in the front just to show a little bit of separation here. You know, but it's really up to you, but for this particular look, I'm going to try to get this really nice and smooth and through here - and I think this looks great. So thanks again guys - and I will see you guys soon for another tutorial with the salon guy, the way you
