How to fix an uneven undercut i've gotten lots of comments and questions and people, just you know, trying to message me saying my undercut is uneven on one side. How do i fix it? Why is it uneven? Well, there's a few things you need to understand when it comes to sectioning and why the hair will look uneven. So if you have an undercut haircut, for example like this mannequin head right here and it's pretty severe, you mostly wear it over this way right on a pretty extreme kind of parting, or sometimes you slick it back but say one day you want to. You know, wear it down the middle and you bring the hair down and it's totally unbalanced or what you know. One side is longer, for example, this side's probably a little bit longer, it's simply because where the hair has to travel from and to right. So if the hair is all the way over here and it needs to reach all the way over here - it's kind of you can see from this demonstration here, with my hand, holding the hair that it has to be long enough to come over if it's. If it's coming from way over on a side part see how long this piece is, and it has to go all the way over now, if you are an individual that says i want my undercut to be, you know to be right here. What happens? Is this piece on this side has to be long enough to come all the way to this one part where it needs to be short now, if you were to bring your hair straight back right or part it down the middle? What'S going to happen, is this one side that where the everything was cut to the actual focus point of the undercut length here, this is going to be much longer on this side, because now the hair is traveling much further down this way, as opposed to this Hair is only traveling to about right here. So look at the difference. The hair is going to be very, very uneven and unbalanced, and i apologize for this hair being a complete rat's nest. It'S because i was doing a style where i had to completely tease, and you know i really worked heck out of this, so it's very, very, very dry and frizzy looking, but you i want you to really understand the hair. Now is traveling all the way down on this side, whereas this is only cut to about right here. So it's going to look very, very uneven. How do you fix that? Well, the problem is in order to get it fully, even you're, going to have to cut both sides even to the shortest point of the haircut. So if your undercut is, you know, comes to here on this side right, you have to again mirror that and do the same thing on the other side. What'S going to happen, is you actually are going to have a lot more flexibility and your haircut is going to be easier to style and to maneuver around if it's done that way and that's how it should be done in the beginning right a lot of times, People just cut the hair like this, unless you say all the time, i'm always wearing my hair like this, i'm not wearing it any other way, a hundred percent of the time, i'm parting it this way. Well, you're stuck with this kind of look. Then right you, don't you can't complain about it being uneven, because this is how you want to wear your hair. But if you are one of those people who wants to kind of split it down the middle and change it up a bit like our famous green mannequin here, which this is, this is much much better as far as the hair type goes much smoother. You know this one is cut perfectly even and balanced, because i parted it in the middle and that's what you have to understand is when you're getting your hair cut for an undercut or a curtains hair cutter whatever it is. If you part it in the middle, you are going to have an even balance of length on both sides. I mean i'm lucky. If i get an even haircut, that's why i call myself uneven steven, but anyway, if, if you get both sides in through here, cut the same exact length, then you're going to have a much easier time, and it's also going to be very very helpful. If you want to wear the hair back or flip it over this way to one side right or flip it around the other way to this side, it's going to be very, very proportionate and much easier to style. You'Re not going to have you know longer pieces on one side: you can wear it in the middle. So that's really what you need to make sure that you're getting done when you get your hair cut. Is that it's parted right in the middle and everything is even around both sides doesn't matter what length it is it doesn't have to. It could be either this long or it could be this long in through here. It has to be even on both sides, and how do you fix that? Well, you can try to do it yourself at home with cutting with scissors. You know using a comb and just trying to find where the balance is, but it's going to be very, very, very difficult to even out something that's very uneven unless it's maybe one piece here or two pieces, you then comb it down using a comb like this And then cut straight across and then it should help. If it's you know something very minimal or one side just a little bit longer here. But if it's something where it requires a professional, then i wouldn't suggest doing it. But the key is: is that when you're, getting your hair cut, tell the person cutting your hair to part it in the middle? ImScoPoh: I rocked a comb over up untill I was 15, and then about 4-5 months ago I parted it in the middle. The left side is longer and beginning to curl, while as the right side is shorter and doesn’t have a curl but instead kinda just hangs forward. fivemile13: So, the real issue here is that clients don't know the difference between a blunt cut or a layered cut. If cut evenly on each side, it will look perfect when parted in the middle. It will have a layered look if brushed to one side. The barber/stylist needs to explain that if the client wants a blunt "all one length" look, it has to always stay on one side. If they want more flexibility, it will need to be layered and blunt is not an option (although with a complete center part like Mr. Greenhair, it looks pretty good). I've had that problem with a friend whose hair I cut. I have said, if you want to part in the middle, or be random about where you part it, we need to cut it a different way. Since he usually wears it all to one side, I just do some layering at the part in case some hairs flop to the other side, they won't hang too far.
Legend-Qixing: HELPPP I used to get a skin fade, so my hair has about 5-6 months of lengh on the top. My sides have always been short. How do I grow it out properly if the top is going to be un even with the sides ?
