Hey it's me mackenzie marie and welcome back to my channel today. I'M gon na be dyeing my hair with toothpaste, and i know what you're thinking kenzie you've officially lost it, although on any other day of the week, i would say yes, but today there is a method to my magic. Toothpaste has baking soda in it, and baking soda is a naturally whitening agent, which is why we brush our teeth with it. It makes our teeth whiter. If i mix baking soda with conditioner - and i put it in my hair - it would naturally lighten my hair - and let's say i put it on my colored hair like this - it would start to eventually pull the colors out of my hair. Yes, it would take longer than bleach if there's a way, i can pull colors out of my hair without damaging my hair anymore or without using bleach, i'm gon na. Do it because there's no denying that my hair is damaged, and i just don't want to damage it anymore? Okay, i dyed the roots of my hair purple a while ago and i don't want that purple in my hair anymore. So i was like i'm gon na use, toothpaste to get the purple dye out of my hair and on top of that, i'm gon na re-dye, all of my hair, bright blue, and that my friends is why i'm dyeing my hair with toothpaste today. Now here's the thing i've never actually dyed my hair with toothpaste before so i don't know if this is gon na work or not, but i thought it'd be a dang good idea to document it, because if it does work, then i'm gon na re-dye, my hair, Like this all the time - and this is what i will be using to get colors out of my hair - so here's my plan - i made sure i'm using one that has baking soda in it. I'M going to put my entire tube of toothpaste in a little container. It smells so minty. I wonder if my hair's gon na smell minty after this to activate the baking soda, you have to put a little bit of water in it. If there's no water, the baking soda is just not gon na work. I'M just gon na start. Mixing this up until it starts getting foamy that way, i know that the baking soda is activated. This is what we're looking for. It'S really pasty now that i activated it i'm going to add my coloring into it. Now i'm using my regular hair dye that i always use here's my concern with the hair dye because i put the dye into the toothpaste. I don't know if it's going to dye my hair while it's pulling the other color out, because toothpaste is a lightening agent. There'S a possibility that when i'm trying to dye my hair while i'm lightening it, the color is just not gon na stick which i'm really hoping is not the case, so i'm gon na add a bunch of dye. Normally, i would add about half of that now. I'M just going to mix it all up. Oh it's so bright, very, very pasty. I don't know how spreadable this is going to be in my hair, i may even add more water, because this is real thick. I feel like the more i mix it though the thicker it might be getting the color looks fantastic though, although the consistency of the toothpaste is a little bit thick, i'm still gon na work with it, though, so all the people out there, who think i don't Actually dye my hair with this stuff, you're literally insane, i got my gloves. I hope all my hair doesn't snap off and die. I'M gon na start with purple part, because that's where i want out of my hair, the most big toothpaste. I am literally dyeing my hair with toothpaste, it's not as hard to spread through my hair, as i thought it was going to be. Don'T get me wrong. It'S thick, the color looks fantastic. If you look really closely, you can see all the minty little squares that were in the toothpaste, yes white in my hair toothpaste. I have no shame in not using bleach if i'm not gon na damage, my hair, that's a good day for me. Yes, i know. I could have just used baking soda, but what is the fun in that? At least now? My hair is going to smell, like a pack of gum, fresh, delicious and clean. To be completely honest, this is covering my hair like really nicely, i'm not having any problems with it. I'M actually quite surprised, yes, toothpaste, i'm going to add a little bit more just up the top parts where the purple was because i really do want it to pull that purple out. Hello, toothpaste, oh it's all over me now here is what the color looks like up close. I think it's really pigmented for it being in toothpaste. Oh, yes, is there any other ways to naturally lighten your hair other than using bleach or baking soda or vitamin c tablets that won't damage your hair, because i swear i've used every method in the book, except for toothpaste, and if you know me, you know, i, Like to dye and change the color of my hair, a lot and it's hard to do that when you have to bleach your hair all the time, that's why i'm trying out methods like toothpaste and baking soda there are things like peroxide and baking soda. Don'T get me wrong, i'm definitely not leaving this on my hair for a long time, oh girl, i'm just gon na go in now. I want this purple out of my hair and i want it out now. Another reason why i'm using toothpaste to dye my hair today is because i have been on a journey to help save my hair because it is very badly damaged. I know what you're gon na say: you did it to yourself. Kenzie, you put all these weird things on your hair. You dye your hair with sharpies and markers. What did you expect the markers and the sharpies, and all that is not what killed my hair. It was the process of over bleaching. My hair is what ruined it. So no to everyone who thinks it's because of all the videos. I do of me dying my hair, that's not what it is. It was bleach. This is coming out very good. I am very happy with this. Over the past couple of months, i've not been bleaching. My hair at all, which, if you haven't noticed my hair, has grown out so much and i'm so happy that i stopped using bleach, which is why i'm using toothpaste and i couldn't be happier my hair - feels softer. It feels better, i'm still able to dye my hair, all these cool colors with using vegan dye like what i'm using today and it's going pretty good for me. I feel like i'm on a hair care journey of, like figuring out, what's best for my hair and learning from my mistakes like don't bleach your hair at home anymore, or don't let your mother who's never been in hair dying school bleach, your roots. Yes, i know that was my fault. I don't know why. I let her do it. I'Ve learned my lesson a lot with dyeing my hair at home, i'm basically a professional at what not to do to your hair and if i really thought toothpaste was that bad on your hair, i wouldn't be putting it in my hair one day i will be Bleaching, my hair again, i don't know when i just know for right now. I want to be growing my hair out and maybe in the future i will re-bleach all of it again but coming from someone who has damaged their hair and healed it many times healthy hair is happy hair. So you guys be careful when you're bleaching, your hair and dyeing your hair and putting things in it read the back of packages and if you don't know what you're doing go to a professional as i'm putting toothpaste in my hair, why would anyone, but no seriously I'Ve damaged my hair so many times. I am not i'm never gon na bleach, my hair at home. Again, i'm just gon na, say it brad mondo! You were right. I probably should have taken your advice years ago also shout out to you brad you're, a real one. My entire head smells so minty right now, i'm literally a human peppermint patty. My hair is completely covered in toothpaste. I'M going to let this sit in my hair. For like 20-30 minutes and then i'm going to wash it out, and i will show you the finished results, can you dye your hair with toothpaste or not? Oh baby, i'm so excited the color worked like the blue. Actually stayed in my hair, like considering toothpaste, being kind of like a soap. I was like afraid that it might not stick to my hair, but the dye worked. The most impressive part of this is that the purple it's no longer in my hair, my hair is so bright. It'S so blue. I don't think a toothpaste messed with it like at all she's in there. My hair is now blue that color before we don't know her, who is she never heard of her but yo? I mean look at this color, i'm always looking for the perfect color of blue and i feel like this one. This one is it yeah like this. Is my signature, we're thriving we're vibing, i just oh, my god i feel like i can go rule the world now say what you want, but, like you know, she's bad yeah. She can rock the blue yeah. She can rock the pink yeah she can rock the yellow guys she can dye her hair with toothpaste. Tell me something i can't do cause you're wrong. Are you catching the vibe like? Do you feel how i feel, because i'm just so happy that this works? It is gon na be a good day today. Look good feel good. It is gon na be a good day today. I guess this goes to show that if you use baking soda in toothpaste - and you put it on your hair, it will pull colors out of your hair or, if you don't want to use toothpaste, just go ahead and use some baking soda on your hair. It'Ll probably be a lot easier to spread it through your hair. The one thing i can say with toothpaste and baking soda is that it did dry my hair out a little bit like the bottom part. I don't know if you can tell she's a little crusty, but it's nothing that a little bit of oil can't fix. My hair feels good. I feel amazing, i'm really happy with the results and i think this works. Lisa P: Mackenzie I am a licensed cosmetologist and you are right it’s the bleach that really takes a toll on hair. Your hair has grown quite a bit and it’s very important to get your hair trimmed in the process of getting your hair back on track. If you don’t when you brush, comb or whatever else it breaks. As far as repairing, just go to Sally’s or any other beauty supply store, get a deep conditioning treatment, put in on your wet hair, cover it with a shower cap or even sit under a dryer for 20 min once a month and you will notice a huge difference after a couple times of using.
