DISCLAIMER:

As a professional stylist, I can’t recommend any drugstore products or recommend anyone to do their own hair at home. Professional Stylists have spent thousands of hours of education on the chemicals and techniques used to do hair. So as a licensed professional I do youtube videos for the purpose of sharing new techniques with people who are either in school or work as a stylist. Too many things can go terribly wrong, so as a liability problem I can only recommend to see a stylist who knows how to use the right products and the correct use of them. Thank you.

Today'S video, we have my client Amanda. She is the sweetest thing ever and she has been calling her here, a level-3, basically black for a long time, and we are going to take her to this gorgeous ombre color. So, as you can see, her hair is very, very dark and her roots are a little bit more natural, so we're trying to go more so towards a really gorgeous natural color. So to get that black out, I'm using the Pravana color extractor, you just mix it like it says, on the box with 1 to 1 part 1 and then part 2. So I'm going to shampoo her hair and using a sulfate free shampoo. This one comes in the box. I love that this kit has everything that you need. It'S so convenient. That was my dog, because my husband just got home and she's excited anyways, I'm going to put a bag on her hair and put her under the dryer for 20 minutes. I did two processes for her hair, so I did this whole process of shampooing, putting the colored structure on and then rinsing out and doing it all over again and it brought it up to this kind of brownie red color, and you can see the picture before It was really black, so now I'm going to go in and tone this, I'm going to be using shades, eq, 8gn and 60. Normally, when you're going in with these colors, you want to go lighter than what you actually want to do, because it my ox date, oxidize a little darker, so it turned out perfect. I left that on for about 20 minutes and it turned to the perfect color. It toned out that red and made it a beautiful brown, because the GN and the 60 just made it so gorgeous, as you guys can see and she's EQ is so great to work with, because it adds so much shine to the hair. So now we're gon na go in and do the ombre part I'm using a blonde me by Schwarzkopf. I love this liner, it's one of my favorites and I'm going to be using continuum. This is by D's labs. It is just like olaplex, except by a different company, so I'm doing to do a scoop of my Lightner and then I'm going to be using a 20 volume, a developer, because you do not need to bump up your developers with continuum, which is a great thing That I love about this product, so I'm going to kind of mix it a little bit thicker than normal, and then I'm going to measure my continuum. You want to mix your products before you add and continuum, and then I'm going to be adding one. Fourth to every scoop, so I did two scoops. So I'm going to be adding a half, then I'm just going to clip her hair up working from the back nape area and I'm going to take a small section down and I'm going to tease all of her roots when I'm going through and doing this. Because it's going to whenever we actually brush our hair, it's gon na be even softer and more seamless. So, starting with a very large section, I'm going to be painting how I do my Bali ahsha's. So what I do is I paint kind of like a V suction. Like you see me doing, I kind of go up on the sides and then meet in the middle for that V formation, and then I paint the ends with my Lightner. Now I'm painting the center of this, because a few parts are still a teeny bit red, and so I just went in with that same 8gn and 60 and I'm just kind of painting on those parts that are still a little bit red for me. I'M going to lay down another foil, I'm using foils, because I want to have the heat in her hair to kind of lock it in and make sure that it's going to process, because we've got to get through a little bit of color on her hair. So that I'm going to take down another section, like you see me doing, and I'm actually going to do a few different ways of adding color into her hair. So this time I'm taking very large chunks of her hair, I'm going to hold that up and then everything underneath I'm going to just add a little bit more of that that patreon and 60, where I see a little bit of redness and then I'm kind of Gon na go back up, tease these little like chunks that I took out, I'm going to lay down a foil on top of my balayage board. This is a really great thing like if you guys love to use balayage boards and if you want to use foils, just layer foil on top of your balayage board, because it keeps your board from getting really dirty. And then I'm just going to be painting this. Like I did the other ones, I'm going to be doing a v-formation and then going in the center of that again with my 8gn and 60. So I'm kind of going to be doing this all over her hair. I wanted to show you guys how I'd go in and kind of do these color Corrections. So I'm going to lay down another foil, then I'm going to section off another section and if you guys are thinking like what's happening to that hair, that was kind of left out of the foil. Well, I just remembered I forgot about that so because we did not do the ends and I want all of her ends to be light. I'M going in and just kind of brushing that Lightner through the ends, I'm not actually going and making my V balayage formation, because I'm just gon na kind of brighten. These ends just a little bit towards the very like three inches of her ends. So going back to that previous section, I'm going to grab I'm gon na now start breaking it up into two sides. So I'm going to tease my roots and then underneath that I'm actually not coloring the ombre all the way up. I just kind of painted that 60 and 8gn again and again, I'm doing it here in the center of it. So this is another thing if you guys are doing these color Corrections and you still see a little bit of either warmth in the hair that you don't want to see, don't be afraid to tell your client hey. I still see a little bit of warmth in your hair, but I'm gon na go through and correct it, while I'm adding in your balayage, because your clients will trust you even more when you're letting them know. I see that warmth. You see that warmth, I'm gon na take care of it, so I'm going to take another section from the side of her head paint on that 8gn and 60 underneath and then just kind of balayage. Those ends a little bit just by brushing on the lightener on the ends and then for the section that I'm actually going to do a balayage, I'm going to tease the roots, lay it down on my foil and board and then I'm gon na. Do it my little v section again and I'm going to place my 8gn and 60 in the center, and I don't do the H, n and 60 all over the head. Just in the places like I said that icy warmth, I might be rambling, but sometimes these applications when you're doing them. It'S not just like a very strict. This is how you do it. It can be kind of a mixture of things and that's what I wanted to show and that's why I'm making this a little bit longer than normal, and if you guys see me using a funny little blush brush. This is actually the red kin blur brush. It is such a great tool when I first saw I was like that is a joke. What is that supposed to do, and then my friend, Shannon and Mandy that do YouTube? I saw on their instagrams that they were using it, and I was like. Oh that's. What it's for so it's for blending these Leitner's and it works so well. I love to blend it for like any harsh lines that I see, so you guys can see me using it here. I just kind of like blend it down and it works so amazing. I can't tell you how much I love this little funny blush brush, so you guys can see me using it here. I just kind of blend it up in places where I feel like it might be a little too harsh, so I'm gon na continue to take another section and pull it down. I'M kind of doing like a brick lay pattern if you guys have done a perm before it's not going to be like perfect sectioning, or anything like that, because I, like my hombres hombres, to be a little bit more organic and I feel like when you take Different sections: it's going to be more organic than if you were to do like a regular foil and you want it all in a very specific neat pattern. That'S what I love about these colors they're, so artistic and just whatever you decide you want to do with that clients hair. So now we have all of our Voyles on her head and you guys can kind of start to see the process a little bit and the color processing and the lightening happening, and you guys can see her ends are lightening up so so. Well, I'm so happy with how well they're lightening up. I mean guys. We started with black hair black hair and look at how light it is getting so now, I'm going to tone it for the root area, I'm going to be using 9b and 8, and the 8 in has that depth that I want a little bit more depth And the 9b is gon na help to tone out any orange, I'm going to put this from roots to kind of mid shaft and then from mid-shaft to ends. I'M making a mixture of 9 n 1/2 ounce of 9 n to 1/4, 9 V and 1/4 9t. This is gon na help to cool everything down and just make it blend flawlessly, and you guys can see here with it after the color is so beautiful and very natural and soft, and it just blends so softly. So you guys can see like some of those top parts a little bit more somber aid, but the ends nice and bright and just gorgeous. I am so happy with how it turned out - and I know a man is too. She sent me a text after and she was like. Oh my gosh, thank you so much. I love my hair and I love being able to share this with you guys. So thank you so much for watching you guys like this. Please give it a big thumbs up and I'll see you guys in my next video bye,

Sara Michelle: That turned out gorgeous! I love the depth it has at the top compared to the brightness at the bottom. It blends so well. Great job :)

TiTi SinGs: Excellent description! I'm getting ready to apply this almost as we speak and appreciate how well your video was made. Thanx for tips!

amanda cantu: awww that sucks so badly u did this girls hair exactly how i want it ive been dying my hair black for a very long time and everybody is terrified of touching my hair good thank you and you did a wonderful job

x.amanda.x: hi Alexis❤ I just love your salon videos/educational hair transformations! I am halfway through beauty school at this point. I have a client with long, thick gorgeous hair that is box dyed a dark brown. She has 5 or 6 inches of new growth natural hair. She wants to go purple. In your opinion, what would you suggest I do to make this happen, and what products would you recommend??! m

PURPLERAIN3683: I love watching your videos @Alexsis Mae! I'm a licensed cosmologist and love learning from others. You do an amazing job and a great job at explaining the steps thoroughly. I have a question, where can I order the Continuum? Do you like it better than Olaplex? Thank you in advance

Serena: How light from darkest brown sort of ebony would someone have to extract color to to go dark brown? The result you have done on her hair looks gorgeous.

sierra desantis: Hello! I have a question pertaining to my hair. I have dark brown hair naturally and about a year ago I bleached my whole head & dyed it a golden medium brown color without toning it at all. It came out very brassy. I immediately regretted it and dyed it back to dark brown. Then four months ago, I dyed it black but it has faded quite a bit in certain areas. I’m looking to rid my hair of all the dye I put into it and simply tone it so I don’t have to keep dying it whenever it starts to fade. I know after the pravana extractor the bleach underneath will be visible so would a toner like the one you used be enough to achieve a brown color without the balayage?

browneyedgirl1100: Hi:) After the Pravana Hair Color Extractor, my hair is a level 6/7 with some areas a level 8. Is it better to use a high lift dye after the extractor or a regular dye(not high lift)? Thank you so much!!!

Janis Salazar: I got my hair done and wanted this exact look and didn't come out that way. I really do wish I would've seen this earlier, I would've gone with you

Alex M.: This is exactly what I need!! I stupidly have been coloring my hair black for over a year and now I wanna do a caramel like this but honestly I'm terrified. Last time anyone lightened my hair it broke completely off after a couple months and I had to chop like 8 inches off my hair

RI NA: I made an appointment at my local hair dresser and I hope they can get it out (also black box dye) I'm really worried that I will have like 30 different shades in my hair bc I've been dying it too much with box dye but after this appointment I won't use the drug store stuff anymore I promise

I love the seventies: You are a brilliant stylist keep up the good work

trying: THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I want to dye my hair black and white like Cruella De Vil's hair and I was worried about getting the black out before school. Thank you so much!

jdelapaz18: Loved your video! did you color remove and bleach the same day? Or did you allow some rest time in between?

stylist1285: Great video ! Hair looks amazing !

katiria 77: Nicely done without damaging hair

KellyJelly9976: 5:20 that swivel...YESSSSS. Love the finished product.

Ashley Borodemos: This helped so much! Thanks!

Zana Fields: Hi, i was just wondering if it would be better to use the pravana color extractor or to just do a bleach wash? I have dyed my hair dark for years and just dyed it black, but want to go back to my natural (medium brown) with minimal damage. Would love to hear your opinion!

PewPewCat: How did you mix the toners? Would appreciate some detail on that please

Maria Regas: Nice work!!!  Love your videos!

emma roberts: this was so helpful as my hair was really dark this worked vey well

Ashley: The pravana color extractor has been discontinued is there any other good color extractor you’d recommend?

Zana Fields: Hi, i was just wondering if it would be better to use the pravana color extractor or to just do a bleach wash? I have dyed my hair dark for years and just dyed it black, but want to go back to my natural (medium brown) with minimal damage. Would love to hear your opinion!

Mane Gt: Good job ! I love it❤

Anonym: How did you do the first toner? Did you mix it with conditioner?

Alissa Brooke Terese: You are so talented keep up the great work! & congrats on the baby news

Kristen Cendejas: Just the video I need! Can you do one where you explain going from the red toned hair even lighter instead of brown? Is Pranava damaging ? Can you did it twice then bleach and tone

browneyedgirl1100: Beautiful Work:) Could I use a semipermanent color after using the extractor? Or does it have to be permanent color?

marleytarynnoel: Beautiful work Alexis!

y s: Hey just a quick question will the Colour B4 Hair colour remover extra strength product work the same as pravana? :)

Ruby Roman: what brand or kind of foils are these? they look perfect for this!

Jodie Finlay: How long does it take to life the hair dye then go ombré?

Rez Nez: If you do the artificial color extractor twice and you did it correctly as described you can use the exact color you want in the hair it won't over oxidize to a dark shade. I do it all the time with no issues.

Janice Costa: It is unfortunate that the beautician that just stripped and colored my hair did such a horrible job. Her name is Becky T. She works at Mystique salon in Bakersfield. She put bleach throughout my dark hair instead of using a stripper. Then she asked me if I wanted to be put under the dryer. How would I know!!? I'm not a beautician!!

Katrina Torres: Hi, I'm using the extractor tomorrow for the first time on my client tomorrow, do you RINSE the hair after processing it for 20 mins? It's doesn't say on the direction! It just says step 5 - shampoo it... Pls help thank you!

cindy valencia: You have true talent everyone I’ve seen do this leaves it in patches and it comes out bright orange. Wish I could go to you I just want brown hair tired of the black. Also can we try this at home? Would your recommend that and is the pravana really damaging?

Ninett Llerena: Love it!!!!

Michele Natalie: You are so incredibly talented. I wish you were near me. I have the WORST hair nightmare disaster and have left it looking crazy because I am terrified to go to any stylists near me. UGH. Maybe one day you will magically appear in the NYC or NJ area so you can work your magic. LOL #wishfulthinking

Pam J: Beautiful!!

Ilana Tova Tess: can you do this on natural black hair??

Madison Salter: Does the continuum work as good as olaplex?

Nena R: Hi for the redken colors how much of each and how much developer do I use

Sydnee Ramsey: what do i do because the hair extractor wont take the black dye out of my hair? Ive used the wella one in the salon twice and it wont get any black out, my hair still looks black after

Coreylynn Branscomb: I currently have black hair and I want to go back to my natural Strawberry blonde. any tips to tell the professionals? I want the least damage possible because my hair is very dry & damaged. I've tried to leave my hair for a few days to get the natural oils to come out and moisten my hair before I do go in and get it done. I heard detergent works to extract the black, have you heard of that? I only want to do 1 bleach session (if necessary) and a deep condition, then apply the strawberry blonde so I can leave my hair to grow in its natural state so I dont continue to dye & fry.

sofea babby: If you already have natural never dyed before dark brown hair we can totally skip the first pravana step right? Or should I just do it once to lighten my hair a bit? I also notice that the models hair is still dark at the roots compared to the mid length when you begin the ombré , how did that happen? Haha hope my questions were clear thanks! :)

Nina Montero: gorgeous job, does that lighten natural hair like say the natural regrowth or you apply an inch from scalp ?

Ro Sharp: very helpful thank u

Giovana Samara: 1:01 So, if I reached this point (twice the process) and did nothing else, would I have this color permanently? Or do I have to apply some kind of toner to it? 'Cause that's the color I want my wig to be... :)

Lesly's Beautyque: Would you recommend the same process for someone who has used a black BOX dye ? I have a client I don't want to let go but at school (still studying) the instructor told me to not even mess with box dye . But I love a challenge !

That One Happy Classroom: omg, i would totally trust you with my hair!

Zana Fields: Hi, i was just wondering if it would be better to use the pravana color extractor or to just do a bleach wash? I have dyed my hair dark for years and just dyed it black, but want to go back to my natural (medium brown) with minimal damage. Would love to hear your opinion!

Amy Logan: How much would you charge a client for this?

Daniela Reyes: im painting my hair dark blue like 5 years ago, do you think that pravanna its gonna work in my hair to remove this color?

Nadja Del: When you dye her hair with the redken 06-08 hair color do you dye her roots too??

Mini bite Tran: From dark virgin hair so easy to any colour we can

Genesis Marrero: have you used this extractor with red hair?

Taylor Sinnard: Thankyou. I see that now that I watched the Company video of Pravana products. that's great! I would rather be less damaging to my hair.

Manar Elkhatib: i have a questions i have an ombre hair the roots it brown (dyed )and the ends are blonde so can i tone my roots with redken because they became brassy and howcan i reach brownish ?honey blonde on the ends of my hair

Lupe Rincon: so do i do part one rinse shampoo and then part two? or mix part one and part two together?? your a great artist!! thanx for sharing!

seeohdeewhygee: Do you think the reason you were still seeing so much red when you were going through and doing the balayage is because you went to light n the base colour?

str4wbm1lk: I'm just watching all these hair dying videos and crying inside because I know I'll never be allowed to dye my hair until I probably go to uni. I'm only 12 so that's a long way away and I want my hair dyed now

JF: What's a good dupe for the redken 8gn and 6t in wella? I don't have redken in my area

Charmzana: I know it's a do it yourself video, but how much could this cost at a salon?

M M: I been wanting my hair done its black I've dyed it black for about a yr n every one denies me lol

Kendall Fulton: was red her natural hair color?? Im very interested in using the pravana but I want it to take me back to my natural hair color and not a weird tone (my natural hair color is light brown and its dyed a very very dark brown)

Joe Nicoletti: why would you cover over all of the hair after the decolorizer? now you have to remove the Shades Eq. why not just apply the Shades from root to midshaft then Ombre the ends. use the blur brush to soften the two colors together. just sayn.

likexchloe: when you used the Redken Shades EQ 8GN + 6T to tone her hair, did you mix it with the redken processing solution??? oh forget to ask, but am i able to use this line the redken shades eq to break the base my client? or not?

Salvador Alvarez: Do you prefer Continuum over Olaplex and why?!

Raina Paladino: would this pravana kit work on black hair I've been dying it black for about 3 years now and i want to be chocolate brown again

Jazmin A: How do we set up an appointment with you ? I'm here in California but I can go to Newport

KellyJelly9976: ooh Olaplex has some competition hehe Is it just as costly? I'd love to see you do a 411 video on this Continuum product.

Tully Soulliere: Pretty pretty! (O:

JESSICA LOPEZ: Will this work for any color on the hair or will it only remove pravana product?

alejandra mayorquin: what would u recommend to remove permanent black hair dye ? hope to hear from u soon

savverz: does anyone know how to get this awful smell out???

Lisandra Figueroa: I have a balayage in my hair right know but I want to go lighter on the top, do you think I can use this product without ruining the blonde parts? Or it will remove the blonde as well? Thank you

Marta D: is it fine to skip the toner you put after the color remover, and just bleach the already orange hair? im trying to get back my natural blonde hair from years of dying it different shades of brown.

Sara Marie xo: Wow this looks soon good

Anna Litsiadis: Hi where can I purchase those products

aitanasdiary: I think it's really funny that people use the terms sombre and ombre like they're different things. They both mean shadow lol

Ellizadeath: Hi i've got a question about the pravana colour exctractor shampoo can you help me? My hair is naturally dark blonde (grey toned) and ive been dying it all kind of box colours by my self.... i had it a chery red colour and then i dyed it blue black its like that for about 2 months will this product work?? (i want to dye it violet pastel i know for that i will have to bleach but atleast i could get some colour out before that) Please if you can tell me what you think..:)

Mikkilolie: Why did you use the 6T? I understand the 8GN but I got kinda confused with the 6T? Lol I'm a student cosmetologist still learning. My Nina wants me to take out her black and I want to use this I'm just trying to figure out what to use to get the color she wants

Juanita Lopez: i need to remove my black hair color how can i remove it from damage it my hair is thin

Taylor Sinnard: only 3 to 4inches of my ends are black, the rest to the root is dark brown. Do I use color corrector on the whole head,or just the black ends? Also, why Redken toner and not a true color perm? Won't the toner just fade out in a couple weeks?

LemonLoaf: I wish u knew what the terms you used meant! That was so mesmerizing...

LemonLoaf: I wish u knew what the terms you used meant! That was so mesmerizing...

LemonLoaf: I wish u knew what the terms you used meant! That was so mesmerizing...

Michael Scott: If I previously had ombre hair and then I dyed black and after a while I decide to remove it with the Pravana Color Extrator will the hair still have the ombre? (After I remove the black)

Taylor Nelson: where do u live! i need that dark brown color in my hair bc i dyed it black and now i want it back to brown

Jenny Orig: Hi i want to ask something because i always try to pot collor on my hair but not take other collor alawys black and not take collor how???

DevCreates: How do u get your foil to b so straight

lilly: Can you please let me know if you plan on visiting florida? I really want you to do my hair!!!

Tiphanie Martins: hi where can i get the pravana hair color extractor

Jaimie H.: Will pravana remove permenant blue black color from ion? (sallys)

DEBBIE JOHNSON: i got highlights and was likw really blonde about 3 years ago and got bored of that and have been dying it black ever since. i put blue black dye over it about every 5 or 6 months, so if i use a hair color remover about 2 or 3 times will it go back to light or will it turn out a brown/brassy color, because i really dont want that..i want a light brown color if anyone has done this before and it worked please let me know because i do not want a brassy color

Jessica vandegoorberg: won't the demi eventually fade out? I don't use them much because I'm not in a salon so I don't do hair much but my friends hair is black and she's about a natural like 4 or 5 brown and she lost all hope in getting her natural color so I want to help her and try this she doesn't even care if she can have blonde she just wants her natural color so she won't have to keep dying it. I don't want her hair to fade out to an orange if it gets light enough. can I use a permanent?

elena mendoza: The lady who i went to said she wouldnt be able to get it that light because ive used black hair dye on it before....:/

Lauren Saunter: when did you put the cape on?

Alexis P: does it have bleach in it?
