Oh hey friends! My name is Alex and I'm a professional Makeup Artist (MUA) living in Chicago. Here you will find my love for Special FX Makeup, Face and Body painting, and a few cameos of Beauty Makeup tutorials. I hope you enjoy and if you do, don't forget to subscribe!

What up action East us and welcome back to my youtube channel so today we're gon na be talking about silver and white hair, one of the most pristine unicorn hairs. You could ever possibly have the first thing that you're gon na need to start. Your hair journey is a talented, educated and professional hair stylist, and in that I went to my friend, Sydney who works at ladies and gentleman salon, which is a Nevada salon here in Chicago. If you guys live anywhere near the Chicagoland area, you guys absolutely have to see Sydney she's, a miracle worker. It'S not always a great idea to go from drastic black to Jurassic white in one sitting, so my hair was pre colored to a medium gray, by Sydney to give myself a little transition into that white. My hair had been bleached two times prior to this appointment. We started off my hair transformation by bleaching my entire head, and we did this because we had already pre lightened my hair in a previous appointment, but we left my base virgin. So it's still my natural black. So by lifting my entire head, I'm gon na get a nice two-toned blonde, which is what I wanted, because I want my hair to fade from an hombre dark into that white color. So by lifting my entire head at once, it's gon na lift my pre lightened ends lighter and my base letter as well, but we will go back in and then color that face. If you want professional looking hair, you need to have a professional. Do it, as you can see here, my stylist is using her assistant and they are both working on my head together, that is, to protect my skin, protect my hair and as well bleach being this strong is very time sensitive and they need to make sure that It'S applied evenly it's lifting evenly and that overall my hair is going great. There is no miracle product. I can get my hair as light as I wanted it in one application. Sydney is now removing the first application of bleach and applying a fresh batch to get my hair as white as humanly possible. Once my answer as light as I wanted, we went straight to the shampoo bowl to rinse out all of that bleach. This process needs to be done gently because at this time, at my scalp is incredibly sensitive and it's very common in bleach. Applications such as this for skin, to get red and even blister, because the bleach that we're using is so powerful and that's all the more reason to see a professional when getting your hair done straight then, in the shampoo bowl we start to tone the ends of My hair, this is the most important step once you've lightened your hair to the desired level, because you want to add in that color now, which gon na have that violet undertone as well as give you that smoky silver or gray, your desired unicorn color. Maybe once we were happy with the ends of my hair, we went back to the chair to tone the base. As I said, I wanted my hair to be a silver hombre, so I wanted my roots to be darker than my ends, so we're going back now to just pre dry, the hair to then whip up that toner to apply only to the base. Now we move on to the final and most tricky step, which is coloring my base darker. So you want to be very careful and you want to be working with professional. Who knows what they're doing? Because my ends are so light that if any of this darker color that we're putting it to my face touches the ends of my hair, it will now just screw up all of the hours of bleaching and toning that we had done. Prior, so Sydney is now applying conditioner only to the ends of my hair, to protect it from any color seeping through and absorbing into the my hair strand, and only focusing on applying that darker color to get a nice gradient into my silver. All in all, this process took four and a half hours and takes a lot of skill and education on Sydney's part. If you're wanting to do a hair, stylist like this, it's going to be very expensive. It'S going to take a lot of time and it's going to take a lot of maintenance, but it looks incredible. I hope that this video could shed some light on the process that I took in my hair and really what it takes to get. These unicorn passed out very bright vivid colors that are very trendy today and hopefully that you guys can now find a stylist or someone around you who can get you the hair you want, but that is all for this video, my friends, I hope you guys found Something useful - and I will see you guys next week at my next video bye, homies

HighVoltageNorwich: I appreciate this kind of video so much! you really stress just how important it is to see someone who knows exactly what they are doing for this kind of colour, and as a professional, it's good to hear people supporting our job :)

Quintina the Cosmo: Thank you so much for this video. as a professional hairstylist and salon manager, it means a lot that you would highly recommend a pro. and Sydney did amazing! your hair looks great!

Celeste Diaz: Well Alex, as usual you look fantastic! I personally loved the dark gray but... This silver fox hue is stunning as well! Forever chasing a mythical unicorn not withstanding you always look fippin great!

Frankie Schlicher: I LOVE that you tell everyone to see a professional because it's true! I'm a stylist at an Aveda salon in Iowa and it was truly the best way to go! Especially with Aveda's natural products it really helps lift hair without the damage! It looks great on you!! ☺️☺️

Danny Hidalgo: This was a really informative video. I just put a video up on my channel about dyeing my hair grey and took some of your advice before going in and I'm really happy with the results :)

GinaB1225: When I saw "how to" I got a little nervous but I was so happy to see how much you emphasized the importance of seeking out a professional. Thank you from hair stylists every where! :)

Cassadi Currier: Thank you so much for mentioning that you need to go to a professional for these colors! So many people think they can do this at home and it's just not possible. Your stylist is very talented and the silver looks great on you!

Alex Faction: Note: The white balance on my camera was a bit off today. I spent FOREVER trying to get my hair to show true to tone on camera so it's pulling a bit warm/yellow in this video. Notice the vlog footage as well as photos to show it's true white/silver tone which is how it is in person! :) Enjoy!

Ethan Greenwood: If you get enough requests could you do a hair styling tutorial. Thanks. P.S. I love how you explain everything in depth and that you are very skilled at what you do if that makes sense

isabelgranter: Im a licensed hairstylist and your scalp should never turn red or blister, it is definetly not normal for that to happen.

Deborah McCoy: It looks amazing. I've wanted to go silver too. Badass hair Alex!!

ToddyBlog: This looks amazing. I have been trying to get a similar look, but not sure i could pull it off. I have a video on my page of what i did do.

Emily Kowalczyk: thank you for reinforcing the fact that a professional is needed! I've seen so many people ruin their hair trying to dye it themselves

big ooft: i came here because i'm considering asking my stylist about ombre grey hair, and i really love your video style! your voice is super clear and nice to listen to, and seeing the mad max and rainbow skull at the end sold me lol. plus the vampy smoked eye is so i had to subscribe

haven mirabella: DEFINITELY go to a hairstylist to have this done. A few years back I was stupid enough to try it myself and every last strand of hair broke off and fell out! Don’t make my mistake.

Little_Smurf_ Jes: I FREAKING LOVE IT!! You can pull off any color. Lots of love an support !!!

StarlingofAzerath: I love how you mentioned it took a few bleach sessions to get this light. Helps me know I need to be patient. But over how long did you wait between appointments?

AudioGem: You can do this at home. I'm a hair stylist. It's how I learned many years ago, practiced on myself. Now that being said it's harder to do yourself, as you need to have a full 360 mirror setup and be fully competent in hand eye co-ordination, as you are going ot be tilting your head at different angles and having to reverse your hand movements. After a long time of doing it home based and then moving onto actually working with people I built the skil up. Now for the average person of course you may mess up if you don't know what you are doing and also don't expect for the results to be perfect until you practice more, but you don't need to go to stylist always for this. It's more money, but the safer option, but you can learn how to do it yourself. You just need to weigh up the opitions. Everything can be learned and even though salon work is my trade, I have to admit, it's not a high skilled thing. I learned out of interest and became good at it at home. Anybody can learn it. I have more of admiration for like engineers or surgens because not everyone can learn such high skil and preciouns. I just make people look pretty and follow basic metholgy, it's not complex. but I can charge good money (I normally charge resonable pricing because some of these salons you are paying for the company name, the stylists are normally just as a good as at any salon). I'm not in it to make millions or rip people off for something that can learn to do themselves.

Rebekah Dennis: Good job on keepin' it real Alex! People really need to know that the best way is professional. Took me a long time to accept that lol.

nwlman: So interesting the look is stunning, nice to know the mechanics of a process

Safah Abdul-Rahman: Just when I thought you couldn't get more flawless...... OMG I LOVE YOU

Adrienne Lucky: I have been getting my hair bleached for over 10 years now and I don't know what my stylist uses but it never burns itches or stings my scalp. I wish I knew so I could recommend it to anyone wanted blonde/white hair! But like Alex says please go to a professional!

Mzz Bee: looks great on you thanks for the info on this hair style sooooo helpful

Axel Glenn: Hey so I'm Brown with Dark brown hair, how would you think I should go about dying my hair grey/silver? Also, since you had pretty dark hair, how expensive was it for you to dye it grey?

Hooper: Ahhhhhhh ! I'm going to dye my hair Silver Ombre next friday ! Its such a cool colour !

Stina: Omg I love it! I wish that my boyfriend would get that hairstyle <3

IMPERIA: Hi Alex! As you can see, I've had that silver/grey look before, but it was a DIY. I really like this ombre-style and I know I'll need to get it professional done. You mentioned it is expensive, as expected, but I was wondering if you are wiling to disclose the est cost of your entire procedure and then maintenance. I know maintenance is a bitch, but I feel like maintaining an ombre look is much easier vs the entire head as when your roots grow in for ombre it looks much better. Thanks ahead of time!

Meggy Mayhem: have i mentioned i love you?? because i do!!! thank you for telling everyone multiple times to GO TO A PROFESSIONAL!! i could not stress this enough! love the silver on you ❤️

Errol montano: Awesomeeee! Thanks for sharing. I'm on my 2nd bleach. I will be returning for my 3rd bleaching session in 2 weeks. and all i could yes it is very very pricey!!

Kanupriya Sachdeva: How long did you have to wait for between the two bleaching sessions?

Michelle Hemsworth: don't know what but I have the faries from sleeping beauty in my head "make it blue" " make it pink" . totally should do that kind of clashing colors at one point. loving the whole my little pony hair. or the galaxy hair. I die for that wild coloring!

Anthony DelucV: Looking good!!! Maintenance might be a bit annoying, I can tell you from personal experience, but the look is amazing

Juan Alba: How much would it cost to transform my hair like yours? Looking to get something like that done to mine. Great vid & hair!

AwkwardME: I really love the light silver hair colour on you! it really suits your skintone I think :)

Daniel Wilson: Looks nice. Doing it to mine within the next couple weeks. It was black, then I bleached it and now it's ginger. But I want it silver

Christina K: I just don't know why someone has tried to recruit you to be a model yet.. like you are so so beautiful.. I like that you did this video another hair tech showed the violet gray BOX color on FB and was like do this and you'll destroy your hair she said there is no way to do this at home when you have dark hair

Ghostiiie kun: I'm so glad you are telling people that its a process :)

Buddha Bellie: What kind of conditioner did they use for the bleached/colored hair to keep it from dying black?

Fabian-Joubert Gallmeister: YOUR HAIR LOOKS FREAKIN AMAZING!!!

Alexandra Mendoza: I've been looking for a stylist to dye my hair in a ombré effect silver then platinum blonde on the ends. Like around how much was the cost? I'm really interested in going where you went

aleph021: How much did everything cost you? And did you do a consultation prior to coloring your hair or did you just tell them what you wanted during your visit?

heyitsjimmyy: So like how long did that entire process take and cost?

It's Alan: I've thought about dying my hair, I think I'll just stick to my natural hair color and good hair treatment routine, I've also uploaded my first hair Tutorial

Shanda Gabriel: that medium gray you went to before was to die for ♡_♡

yajirelley: I'm moving to the Chicago area in March and I was looking for a good place to get my hair cut and colored! Thanks!!

the Revolution: My friend used to constantly dye his hair when he was younger and it made him go bald, don't do it guys its a mistake

Lily R: Thanks so much for uploading a video about your hair! I've always wanted to see what goes into the process of looking like a frickin model xD

Amy al: "There is no miracle product to get my hair as light as I want in one session" Yes there is it's called olaplex

Whitley Marshall: Love your hair. It fits you perfectly

Steven Melendez: what did they use to lighten up your hair at first? i want that medium gray look

itsBrittLyn: LOVE this color on you!

Oscar5050: How long do you wait for the second bleach

RyKo Media: Not everyone has the money or time for a "professional" salon. But this does not mean it cant be done at home. Tons of videos on youtube with people of various ages doing their own hair just as good if not better than this. And for those wondering, this would cost around $400+

Evan Bebenek: Looks nice, thanks for the info

Jan M: Love your bracelets in this video! Where can I get these?

Gary Haber: Is it possible to go back from bleached blonde hair back to black, without having to cut the bleached hair out, and without going through the Red filler stage first?

Gary Haber: Is it possible to go back from bleached blonde hair back to black, without having to cut the bleached hair out, and without going through the Red filler stage first?

Sunny Moon: What's the maintenance like for you? I find my hair grows very quickly so I'm concerned about it

ClaBella Coleen: I love the color!

CALiBABy10: Killing me with your slayage

Jazmin Zamora: i love ur hair it looks so good on you!!!!

YourYesi: Looks great!

salman alphatron: Will this look good on brown skin like mine? Please let me know, anyone. I wanted to try this from very long time.

Kevin Steinbrinck: that looks amazing.

Daniel Hall: you did naff all! this isnt a "how to" this is basically a detailed vlog.

Maineeak: I am going to get this hair color in two days and i'm so excited but i've never bleached my hair before so i am a bit scared tbh. I have thin hair so i don't know if it's gonna look stupid.

Thebriabeauty: Looks great Alex! <3

ItsMeHim SOA: It took me 2 weeks to be even whiter and free. Youtube is very helpful tho

ravit reitman: love it !!

MoisesFreaks: I'd have to disagree when you said "if you want professional looking hair, you need to have a professional do it". Yes, it's a more safer route but that's not true. You just have to know what you're doing. I did my own hair last June from natural dark brown to white all on my own. I got so many compliments from coworkers and strangers- some even asking if I'd do their hair- Not bragging but I'm just saying you don't have to spend unnecessary money on something that wouldn't cost more than $60. Just learn how and do it yourself :)

Roy ML: What hair product do you use to style your hair ?

yoli Padilla: i love the shade,to each their own.

Ericka R.: Was olaplex used? It's supposed to protect the hair from bleach damage.

John Wick: how long does it last?

JessicaWongXO: This salon is literally by my school why cant i just run into you one day D: btw i love it it looks nice :D

Tim Hubbard: I have wanted to do something like this with my hair for like a year now but everyone I mention it to says that I will end up a strawberry blond instead. I still want to do it though.

Anthony Gomez: What color did you use for medium grey ? Where can I get it ?! Please respond :)!!!

Mike Robles: Love it

Pearl Suicide: Your hair is phenomenal!!! Unicorn hair >.< haha yessss !

Andrew-Roy Tipper: From a hairdressers perspective you should go to more of a slate silver, would complement your skin tone better

Samuel Garcia: I love it wanna do mine like that just scared it won't look good on me

Raquel Garza: freakin gorgeous!!

MiMi's ramblings: I'm curious as to why they didn't just do the ombre leaving your natural color for the roots/base. Bleaching and then toning the midshaft and ends, and then if you wanted to lighten that base just a tiny bit, they could have gone back in and did a "break the base" at the bowl where a little high lift color sits on for 3-6 minutes. It's less steps, and less stress on the scalp. Sometimes I see a lot of the newer hair trends as a licensed stylist myself, I can usually get the same results with less time and less steps, makes me wonder if stylists do this so they can charge more money.

felipe olvera: How much did this entire process cost?

Legolas Sigfrid: very nice...love it

성준호 成俊虎: Now that's perfection.

A: So they know whether or not the bleach / dye times so hair doesn’t flake off? I tried dying it once only on tips and hair was brittle

Jessica Culpepper: Do a Jack Frost look from rise of the guardians!

Mighel Akando: How much did all this cost because I live in the Chicago area and I'll go directly to her to do it aswell.. She did a great job and This is Exactly what Ive been wanting to do with my hair is it really expensive?

Gothutism: How long was your scalp sensitive? Just curious

Christy Mccullough: it looks awesome babe!!

Marc Boland: So prettyyyyy!!!!

Courtney Pollock: Amazing!

Ibrahim R: You could have got the olaplex treatment you can get light in one sitting without damaging your hair

YoshiRed: How much did it Cost, because when I went to the Salon, they told me it was gonna be like $120 - $150 and it will take a Single Visit, I have Black Hair, down to my Shoulders, Im a Male and never had Products in my Hair besides Shampoo and Conditioner, they said it was unrefined Hair, so not sure if thats Good or Bad, I want Silver Hair and I never dye my Hair before, this is gonna be my First time dying my Hair

Stanley Ascencio: how much does it cost? and do you have any branch located here in MD?

Xio Van Dijk: Lovely!

Ater Abid: Great detailed video but u should have talked about price as well

omar: can anyone please tell me and idea of how much this bleaching was? I just wanna know because I might get this

DeniseLuijnenburg: best vidd of silver hair! omg i love it <3
