Hey guys today, i'm gon na be showing you guys how i did a silk press on my hair. So this time around, i just decided to do so press by myself and not go to the salon and spend hundreds of dollars. It did take a long time to finish, but it turned out really really good. So let's get right into the video, so i'm starting off with freshly washed hair and i'm going to apply olaplex's number six and number seven to my hair, i'm starting with the back section and really working those products. In going in with my revlon blow dryer, i'm going to take my time and really get my hair as straight as possible. So right now you guys are seeing this in real time. This is how slow i did it, because i really wanted really sleek results. So you guys can see how straight my hair is getting with little to no effort and how light and fluffy my hair is moving on to the next section, i'm using six and seven again, these two products work really really well with getting your hair super straight. It also helps to protect your hair from heat damage, so i really love these products, so just taking my blow dryer and doing the same thing brushing through my hair and straightening out my hair making sure to really focus on those roots. So that way, my hair comes out super straight when it's time to fire here, i'm just doing a length check to see how long my hair has gotten and hair is what my blowout is looking like. It'S a little bit puffy in the roots on the right side. So i'm going to go ahead and go back through that and you can see how easy the brush is just gliding through my thick head of hair. It'S crazy how manageable my hair is right now, so here are my results, super straight very light and tangle free. My ends definitely need a little bit of work, so i'm going to deal with that in a moment. Here'S a bit of a length check - and here is another length check from the back, so you guys will see that in past waist length in one second there we go so right here where the line is. This is where my waist is, and the line from my jumpsuit is sitting on my waist, so you'll see the arrow for that too. So the bottom line is my jumpsuit and the first line is my waist, so you can see my hair is past waist length, but once it starts getting past waist length, it starts to grow into like this really thin v. So i'm going to go ahead and chop that all off in a moment, so starting with small sections at the back, i'm going in with my flat iron and i'm doing two passes so for the first pass. I'M just using the flat iron and my flat iron is on 410. Then i go in with a comb and i do the chase method and i just do one pass so in total i do two passes and i feel like i could have gotten away with one pass, but i wanted really really sleek results. So i went in with two definitely seen: hairstylists do two and three passes so hopefully two is okay, so for this whole process i really took my time. So, as you can see, i got really light and sleek results, so i'm just going in i'm noticing that my hairline needs a little touch up, but i'll do that at the very end, going in with the flat iron doing one pass nice and slow this scene Is sped up so it looks like i'm doing it fast, but i was really taking my time and here's one side done and i'm looking at my ends. I really don't like how my ends. Look so i'll fix that at the end of the video, but i loved how light my hair felt holding the comb in the iron is harder than it looks like i was struggling and i used to flatten my hair all the time when i was relaxed, but This is tricky, so this is what my hair looks like fully flat ironed. It'S super straight, but of course the ends the ends the ends. I got to fix that so i'm just doing a little bit of a length check, so i can see where my hair is sitting. It passes my boobs and it kind of hits my waist in the front and then, when i put everything back, this is what the back is looking like. So you guys can see how the ends look. It definitely needs to be cut. So i'm using a comb to kind of see where i need to cut i'm not a professional, so i'm just trying my best and you can see. I need to cut about four inches, so i'm gon na go ahead and take care of that. So i'm using the old school method because i'm not a professional and i'm just kind of measuring with these ponytail holders to see where i need to cut. So i did do a small cut that i didn't get on camera. But you're going to see me cut again and again um, so i'm going in again and i'm cutting another inch and i'm doing small cuts, because i want to make sure that i'm doing the right thing and not cutting off too much or whatever it's best. To start with small cuts, and then you know go back in so it looks good in my hand right now, but when i put it down uh, oh, i still need to cut more, so i'm just brushing. So i'm just brushing out my hair to see where i need to cut and you can kind of see i need to go another, maybe two inches or so so here i am going in and taking off another inch. I think i can't really tell so on the left. This is what i was left with and i got a weird looking v, which i wasn't happy about, so i went back in and then cut a little bit more and i ended up with the right side. Still not completely happy so i'm gon na go ahead and cut maybe another two inches, but overall i think my hair looks way better than before. So that's the end of the video. Hopefully you guys enjoyed it and i'll see you guys in the next one.

SpookieLips FatHips: U have me wanting to get out of this protective style and do a flat iron for the holidays lol so tempting!

Evelyn Edwards: Your hair looks absolutely stunning. I used flat irons a couple of times and it damaged my natural curl pattern which I wasn't happy about. Some parts remained straight after washing, twisting and air drying. No heat at all for me, apart from deep conditioning treatments. Some sisters can get away with it I guess :)

SpookieLips FatHips: Beautiful!! Love this . Nothing like a fresh flat iron!

alexandriah: Your hair was soooo sleek!! I love that you actually took the time to trim allll of your split ends, it was like 4 inches!! health>>length!!

Claire Haire: *Inches! Looks healthy & strong, you make it look so easy. I can blow-dry with the best of them but, when it comes to silk-press I let other people do it lol I'm so scared.*

rachelmm05: Beautiful results... I see this and think I miss my loose natural hair and I need to break out the flatiron again... then I realize I've been on a loc journey since July and it's no way I'm gonna undo 6 months of loc growth lol ... your hair is lovely as always tfs

Keeping It Natural: You did it better than the hairdresser. She didn’t blow dry it out straight enough. Sometimes we know our own hair better than anyone does.

Porshia Vonne: This is my FAVORITE blow dryer! Just used it this morning. Your hair is

TMC Natural Beauty: Your hair is gorgeous! I want a silk press now

Kim may🇻🇨: You did an amazing DIY great job thanks for sharing

Unknown2Yoo: I use a brush because it grips better so I don't have to struggle with the rat tail comb. Plus, you get better separation so you can better straighten each strand. You still did a lovely job. I feel you, my hair is almost this length and I split my wash and straightening process over the course of two days.

RelaxedWithDee: Gorgeous results

Melonie Does Stuff: Looks pretty! I also want that dryer and seems affordable too compared to the Revair

Vanessa Mc Intosh: Impressive results I really thought you went to the salon again when I saw your hair on Instagram

Tywan Brown: Thanks so much for sharing Shanique. I haven't tried the Olaplex products but i have heard good things. Your hair came out really pretty

SpookieLips FatHips: All that cutting lol i have a VERY hard time letting go of hair no matter how small! I think it's because i work so hard to grow it I'm so attached! But its always best to let the split ends go .

Que Rivers: Beautiful!

Julie Mayfield: Thank you so much I really needed this video cuz I have a very similar hair texture to yours and it's hard to get our hair straight and stay straight

M.E. Reid: I am soooo scared to try a silk press on myself! You do give me courage though…lol.

Dessy GT: you did a great job girly!!!

fancybeauty: Hair goals. Long and thick. I need to search your channel for some kind of hair routine video.

Deborah Shoates: Yes your hair looks Beautiful .

Felecia Lugaro: I love this can you do a video on how you get the pin curls at the end?
