Hi I'm Jasmine Chapman, representing glam squad LA and today, I'm going to give you a few tips on how to care for color treated african-american hair. Our client Siobhan here has highlights in her hair and she also has a relaxer. I wanted to give one of our secrets up to the consumer out there. When someone has a relaxer, which is a chemical service, it would be best. If you just absolutely need color to add pieces, I would never lift a permed hair with bleach or anything higher than a level 20 developer, because it's definitely not good for the hair. But if you do decide that you want to perm, excuse me relax and color your hair. At the same time, you want to be mindful to do it two to three weeks in between never during the same week or the same day, because you'll definitely experience hair loss, major breakage, a way to care for color-treated hair, whether it's damaged or healthy. You know just to maintain you know the luster of your hair. You would want to use something like leave-in conditioners, temporary colors, rinses, cellophane things that aid and conditioning and hydrating the hair, jazzing and adore is one of the most popular ones that consumers can purchase. You'Ve. Seen this at several beauty supplies all around for a client like me, chiffon here, cream soda would be ideal for her her hair because it's already lifted blonde and you want to stand the family of the co you have unless you Fon decide. She wants to go red or blue. She can take this same type of temporary color and put it on top of her blonde and get you know something different without damaging your hair and she can wash it out after eight to ten washes. I believe it is another way to color for care. I mean to care for color-treated. Hair is to do leave-in conditioners prior to blow drying or any heat service. Well, a leave-in again, you would put in before a blow-dry. My helps hydrate the hair and promote luster and and prevents the hair from breaking breaking or being dried out by the blow dryers heat. You also can use a oil treatment. Moroccan macadamia oil is one of them, but the several lines all across the board and several beauty supplies all across California or wherever you are. You can be heated up by water, you can heat up boiling water, I mean boil water or heat it up in a cup. Stick this inside, allow the temperature to increase and then put it on the scalp of your hair and then brush it through. You can also follow up, or do it by itself, a hair mask or shampoo, something that has hydrating or moisturizing. It is ideal for someone whose hair might be damaged or color treated. I'M Jasmine Chapman representing glam squad LA and I just gave you a few tips on how to care for color treated, hair

t nelson: She is correct. Every word. Relaxers DO damage the hair! Sodium hydroxide on the hair and scalp corrode the cortex and cuticles to straighten it. Most of us with relaxers do not wash our hair enough for fear of loosing a style or sleekness. Relaxers make hair super dry so moisture is critical in length retention and health. Gotta moisturize a lot with black hair regardless if its natural or relaxed.

Rebecca Boadu: Just because you relax your hair that does not mean you damage it. My hair is very thick and long and when I get it relaxed, extra strength, I have to go back 2 weeks later. It all depends on how you treat your hair.

Elliex Savage: The reason why she said to be cautious dying your hair while you have a relaxer is because dye and relaxer hair most of the same chemicals so relaxing and dying the hair can cause damages, breakage, and hair falling out. So that why some women who relax their hair wait 2 to 3 weeks to dye their hair. So it not too much chemicals at one time.

CocktailGurl: Very educational thank you ,my favorite oils on my hair is olive oil:)

Kaiya Nelson: Hi your video is very helpful. I need advice.. im thinking of dying my hair navy blue and my skin colour is not very dark its not very light either. I am seeking advice to see if it will suit as i havent seen any black girls try and attempt this colour. Especially with my skin colour. Thank you for reading. I am looking forward to your advice

W: What about after braiding how long should you wait

leenette47: Protein doesn't moisturize it strengthens

OkuWarrior: Okaaay, so how would I dye the tips/ends?

Bee Bee: You missed the point. Natural hair can do a lot more than relaxed hair, that's just in my experience. You can do whatever you want with your natural hair, straighten, dye, style in endless ways. You can also relax your hair, but the other person was just saying "the best thing is-".

hotnov: Me too!

kevans195: You didn't mention protein treatments....

Jeremy Jenner: @gggrinz So you're saying African American women should be limited to one style of hair with one color only. Riiiiiight....

ericka steele: her hair was broke tf off. smh poor girly
