How To: Sleek Bun On Short 4B Natural Hair With No Heat | Top Knot Bun | Twa

This is my go to bun hairstyle! Super sleek and natural especially during the summer months when it's too hot to have hair all down your back. Also super cute for back to school! This is a long video but i really wanted you guys to see each step. If you have longer hair than me you don't have to add extensions but I like my buns to be super full and much bigger.

P.S. my edges have been thin in that same spot since I was a kid, lmao i'm convinced it's always gonna be that. Don't judge me.

Hey guys and welcome back to my channel today, I have a natural hair video for you guys, I'm gon na show you all how I got my 4c and natural hair into this sleek bun and I'm gon na show you how the before and after because y'all Are gon na be shocked, shocked how I got my hair, this sleek without straightening it? I do not straighten my natural hair. I try to leave heat alone, so I'm gon na show you guys what I use all the products I used to get my hair, nice and sleek without applying any heat, so yeah, let's just get into the video, so I could show you how how to get Your hair laid honey, okay, late. Alright, you guys, I'm just gon na show you guys how I do this. It is a multi-step process. Let me tell you my hair is really crusty right now. This is how I wear my hair under my wigs and a little button, and I bobby pin it up. So it's really dry really crusty, so I'm just gon na start by spraying some water - and I never showed my natural hair on my channel. So here she is, it's like semi stretched out, because I hide it in a bun, but we're gon na have to comb it out really good to get it into a high bun. So I wet it because I never comb out my hair when it's dry ever like literally ever so yeah. Don'T do that because I don't do that. Like my hair is not koma Bowl when it's dry, it has to be at least damp to even a little more it's starting to shrink a little bit with the water. But this is what my natural hair looks like it's very thick and I've been natural for over a year. Now I really don't even know I stopped keeping count. I can't remember, but I think my last we laxer was sometime last year, so yeah and I big chopped early this year, like I don't know September or something I don't remember, but alright. So once you have your hair, all combed out, you're gon na section it all off. I go from like ear to ear and I section off this top part because you're gon na put the hair in a bun in sections and that kind of doesn't make sense right now. But you guys will soon see what I'm talking about. So I use a little alligator clip to clip that off and, as you can see, I have a whole lot of hair. So like it's hard and then so, that's the first section, you're gon na work with and you're gon na leave everything else back like this and tie it up with the scrunchie okay. So then you're gon na, let it out let your hair out of the clip you're gon na wet it some more, and this is when you're gon na start using your Old, Faithful, eco styler. I use this crystal max hold ten version. This is what works for my hair. You have to find which eco styler works for your hair, because I used to think that eco styler didn't work, but that was before I figured out, which one works for me. So, for instance, the flaxseed one doesn't work for me. The olive oil one doesn't work, the coconut oil one doesn't work. This one seems to give me the most hold for my hair type. I don't know why, but it does so. You'Re gon na take a generous amount of this like a whole lot and you're gon na just smooth that on the back as well, because you want to keep your hair stretched as much as you can, or else you're gon na look like you have no hair And I just use that to slick the hair back like so, and you want to take your time with this. You never want to rush when you're slicking your hair down, because you want it to be really nice and neat. So that's pretty flat right and you're gon na get a scrunchie and you're just gon na tie that off you don't have to do it too, tight, because you're gon na keep adding hair to this section. So that's what I do so first section done right. So now you're going to section off another section, so this is gon na, be your second section. I don't know if you guys can see I'm just splitting that section that I just did in half keep these two pieces separate. I know it's like hard, but then you're gon na clip that in the back and that's going to be your last section. But this is the second section we're working with you're gon na wet it you're gon na comb. It again because if the tangles aren't out you're, not gon na be able to get it as flat. Look at that shrinkage, though y'all like insane my hair, shrinks up so much it's so embarrassing. I look literally bald when my hair is wet alright. So once you get, the hair stressed out like this, as you can see, that's like super stretched now you're going to apply the eco styler and you guys can see, but I'm just going to apply it to that section, and I use my brush to slick it Up so at this point, your arms are gon na start to hurt, but you got to keep pushing through like a workout and now what you're gon na do is combine the two sections, and this is the best way that works for me. If I try to do it all in one section, the hair never gets sleek, so we got a little puff building, and this is our last section I may or may not split this into two. I am I'm gon na split this into two, so I'm gon na comb it out. This is the back. So I'm splitting this into two, because it's gon na be really difficult to get this to slip up cause. It'S so short, I clip it it like that cool, so we're working with just this side right. It should be pretty easy to comb at this point, as you can see, and you do the same thing we're going to cover this section from the bottom and right here in ecostyler and you're gon na sleek. It up trying to turn so you guys can see, but I used that to help me lay it nice and sleek and once I think I got it, sleek I'm gon na let loose the scrunchie again at the top and add it to the section just like That I know it's hard to like kind of see what I'm doing, but I literally stretch stretch stretch the hair out brush it up, hold it really tight and add it to the ponytail and look at that super flat, SuperDuper flat and honestly, with 4c natural hair Sectioning is going to be your best friend. It'S really the only way that I've discovered to do this. That gets it really really flat. Otherwise, your should have a look so just keep going, and this could work for people who have looser uterus. Look at those curls pop in yes, but keep this could work for looser textures as well, but obviously you may or may not need this many sections. You know it'll, probably be unnecessary for you to do this. Many sections you probably can get away with to just two if you have loose a hair than me, but I have really really super thick hair. So it's hard so once you get to the top, you want to make it super tight and make a little bun. That'S what my bun looks like and, as you can see, my edges are not laid like the hair is sleek in general, but my edges aren't laid so I'm gon na show you guys what I use on my edges. I used the 48 hour edge, tamer extreme firm, hold by AB in New York. Can you see so I'm gon na put this on my edges and I use a generous amount because, like I said, I have really coarse hair slicked. My own can't just slip. My edges, I either use the same brush. I was using or this little edge brush and when I do my baby hairs, I use one of these, but I'm gon na start out with this big brush, just to kind of get the general shape that I want. Look at that look at there, so I just make sure it's nice and sleek and once the edges are laid down, I pull the hair like this super taut and we're gon na seal this in and breathe. Look it one more time, tie it up, just like that. So now, we're just gon na fine tune our edges and on top of the edge control I just used. I'M gon na use can't even see the Murrays edge, wax extreme hold edge control. This stuff is thick y'all, so use it to your discretion. It'S just really really thick. It'S like it really does feel like beeswax, but I like to put this too, because, especially when it's hot outside it's not one edge control alone is not gon na hold. My edges down, so I applied that as well. So this is what we got so far, really sleek right compared to how it was. I think it's really really sleek. There are some pieces that are sticking up, but that's just because they're shorter and I'm gon na handle those at the end. So now I'm gon na go in and pick up my baby hairs. I saved this for last and my sideburns, I'm gon na go back in the a beam New York edge control and you can style your edges. However, however, you desire, you know it's really your personal preference, some people like more baby hair, some people like less it's up to you. I do pretty natural-looking edges. I don't like the super gelled edges. Look so yeah. I do a little bit, though so, and sometimes I may need to use the comb to get more of the hair out and just kind of swoop it the way I want and pull up my sideburn. Sometimes I like to make it curl, but a lot of the times it won't stay, so I kind of just make it do what I want like that and that's how I lay my edges, so I'm gon na redo this one to make it look swirly, like The other side - and I just use the comb to guide it doop. So there we have it a nice sleek foundation, then we're just gon na go back in one more time. Just like that. Now you're gon na get a scar, so you can use any scarf. That you have. This is stuff, is just essential just to kind of seal it in so you're gon na apply the scarf just to have the edges lay and set into place. Just like this, and you want to pull it really tight said that all the moisture that you just added kind of sucks the hair up. Okay, so now we're gon na add our hair to make the bun look more full. I prefer to use like a loose wave or a deep way to make my buns cuz. It'S gon na match my texture the most, so you pull out a little piece and you wrap that around the base and then you start to wrap the track around. I know I just did that super quick, but I'm going to show you again with a different piece and I put the scarf on before. I do this because you don't want to pull out any of your hair while you're doing this after you just worked so hard to get it to lay down sleek, so yeah you're, just wrapping this around the base of your bun and you're gon na. Do the same thing once you get to the end, take a tiny piece and you're just gon na wrap it around. I try not to use bobby pins for this because they dig into my head and they give me a headache. Gon na do the same thing. So you're gon na take this right. This is the track. You'Re gon na pull out a little piece like this, and this is what you're gon na wrap around your wrapping that little piece of hair around the base. Just like that and then the track that's hanging gets wrapped around and I normally do it in the opposite direction. Just so that it's more secure but doesn't really matter, and you can add bobby pins to make it more secure, but I'm only gon na bobby pin it at the very end, because if I put too many bobby pins like I said it just gives me a Headache and it starts to dig into my scalp, so I prefer not to take bobby, pin and we're just gon na secure the end of that track and pin it to my natural hair. So now you kind of have a weird ponytail going and I just kind of adjust it to how I want it. Just like that, and I use bobby pins to secure it and I'll probably need like one more bobby pin. I'M gon na go grab one too, which I think it gave me more volume so that I don't look so bald-headed and about now. Your edges should be secure. Oh, and look at that you have a nice, sleek, bun crazies and to finish off any bun. I always put hoops because hoops and buns go together like peanut butter and jelly y'all, and there you have it a nice high bun will have you feeling like it's an instant facelift like you just feel more skinny, you feel more bum and I feel like this Is such a nice quick and easy style? You can do it in nighttime, tie your edges up and then in the morning. You don't have to do anything. So this is my go-to. When I'm wearing my natural hair, I just throw it up in a bun and add some hair to it, and that is that I really let my natural hair breathe like I try not to do too much manipulation to my natural hair, because it does not like To be bothered, my natural hair likes to be left alone and that's how it's grown so much so far. So please please, please let me know what you guys want to see about natural hair in the future.
