Hey guys so today I am going to review one of my biggest beauty secrets to you, and that is the sock bun. Now the soft one itself is not that much of a secret. It'S a commonly known thing. It'S the way that I use it. That makes it a secret now, first, let me explain something about the basic commonly known husband to you. The most important thing in a sock bun is, as you might have guessed, the sock bun socks also refer to as donut. Now this is actually basically it's just a sock. That'S why it's called the sock, bun socks or sock, Donuts or whatever you want to call it to make a sock, bun sock. All you need is a sock, you cut off the tips and then you roll it up to keep rolling until you get and doughnuts yay. So this is what you want to use for your soft phone. So what this does is it creates kind of the illusion of having big voluminous hair inside your phone. One actually is a sock and as long as you take a success simular to your hair color, nobody is going to notice that you are wearing a sock in your hair. So let me show you the standard way of making a soft bun. Take your donut put your ponytail through it and now you just kind of put all of your hair around the sock and you put the hair elastic around it. I don't have one I'm so sorry wait a minute. This is so badly. I'M pump repair. Okay, sorry, sorry, sorry, okay, I'm back so you take your hair elastic and just put it around sock make sure that all of its cover, okay and - and she already can see it already looks like I have a big bun when it's actually only a little bit Of my hair and a lot of socks, the only problem of this is all the hair that remains, and I usually people just wrap it around and secure it with some bobby pins. Some people bray it first and wrap it around them. So I'm just going to secure it, but I don't like the look of all this extra hair being wrapped around. I think it's just a little bit too obvious and it looks weird so what I do with my sweat, bun and here goes the big secret. I hide all of my hair in look inside the bun, so what I do same thing is with the regular, the regular sauce one I put my ponytail through the sock and then I pull it out now. I take my ends. Thank kind of try to suck them in here try to wrap them around as good as possible. Now it is a more difficult way of making a soft one, but I think that the result is well worth it. So what we're going to do now is kind of twist the sock like this and make sure all your hair is inside there and you're just gon na twist. The sock like this and your hair gets in. There automatically make sure all the soap is covered evenly and just continue doing this until you reach the end of your ponytail, almost there Panthera my stock bun, so you can see the difference bigger bun more around, like the shape, I think that's my personal opinion. No extra hair, no bobby pins and it's bigger - and I like it way better, so it is kind of hard first time, but after a couple of times practicing, that's not a good sign after you practice it a couple of times. It should be a lot easier and, yes, I think the results are much much better. So that's my secret, my big hug fun secret um. Yes, so I hope this was helpful. I hope you try it out and hope you enjoyed the video, and I will see you next time spike.

Lindaaa aaa: I LEGIT remember this video from 10 yrs ago back when youtube was young before ANYONE knew how to do sock buns like this!!! She actually unlocked the sock bun secret

Mandy1403: I found your video probably about 3 years ago when there wasn't a big hype about buns yet. And it changed my (hair's)life forever! Your video was the first one that i saw doing the bun with a sock in the fist place and secondly using them in this way to create curls like that! I have VERY fine and flat hair, but after sleeping in a bun for a night I have beautiful curls all day long! And best of all, no heat damage!! I put in a little bit of moisturizer and start my morning with silky soft but curly hair :) I always recommend your video to all of my friends and ballet dancers (since it holds up sooo well without needing a bunch of pins that poke little girls' heads) :) I just checked out your video again to send to a friend and couldn't believe all the "thumbs downs" you got! YOUR video helped me sooooo much and I don't care if it was a secret or wasn't. You shared it with the world and I am super thankful for it :))

Orangemagnet: People saying that it isn't a secret and that they heard of it before blah blah blah have to understand she uploaded this 2009 back then it was not very common as it would be now in 2014

Tamara Plimmer: This is the first video of your's I ever watched back in the day!  Still watching today!  Thanks so much for all the great things you share.

Shari Roman: OMG......I LOVE IT!! My daughter has to have a hair bun EVERY week for dance classes and we fight with that damn donut. I hate it and all the stupid bobby pins that we have to put in it!! I will DEFINITELY try this!! It will look so much more neat if I can do it. I think it will improve the look of it just in time for her dance pix. THANK YOU!!

Nic Tails: I just saw this on Buzzfeed and I think you've totally changed how I do my buns! I have super long hair down to under my hips, and I can only imagine how much nicer buns will look on me. Thank you :)

Tanya Magruder: Oh thank you so much!!! I'm growing my hair out and so is my daughter and we needed a new easy hairstyle. My daughter's hair is super thin and fine (she's only 6) so I didn't think it would work but it totally did! Thanks for such a great tutorial!!

UCDgirl: I did it today! It's amazing! I always am losing my bobby pins so this is perfect :)

Georgianna: Love this tutorial! Thanks so much, I felt like an idiot for not being able to do it right. Super helpful!

Ibsy Vegan: Wow! It's so cute! I've always had problems with my extra hair because it's so long and thick that the remaining hair is bigger than the bun, and this is perfect for me! You're really smart to figure that out :)

Ally Ockenden-Kemp: I'm only just learning about sock buns in 2020! I've been living under a rock! I never did anything with my hair as it was just so long and thick, I hated it. Now had a lot cut off so looking for things to do with it

Bridget Leigh: This is sooooo helpful! I can't get it right and this is amazing! Yay for gorgeous sock buns!

pams_crafts_ n_plans: Thanks so much for sharing! I tried this and it's so much easier (and pretty) for me to do than trying to put 100 pins in my hair! And I get tons of compliments on it!

Tyla Jay: I've watched many tutorials but yours helped me out a lot! I can finally do it! Thank you :)

Judith Erwin: I am so glad I stumbled across this video!! My hair is up in the bun right now and am hoping to achieve those beautiful curls for dinner tomorrow night❤❤ love it!! Your a genius! It looks too nice to sleep in lol, this is going to be a go to hairstyle from now on x

Rachel: Your second bun version worked out really well for me. Thanks for making this tutorial! :D

Amy K.: it looks sooo great, I really love it! <3 thank you so much!

17rev72: I love this, need to practice it though! I love how secure it is, much easier than loading it with hair grips, thanks for posting

trixielolo77: I do my sock bun the harder way, definitely well worth it! Love the video, you're so precious and cute!

Skyler Goldman: I love this. I used two on my mothers hair, one above the other. It is so cute.

Elena I: LOVe IT! I always wear my hair in a bun with just an elastic and it always gave my headache cause it would always pull my hair. This is such a great solution. Thanks for sharing! :)

Kayla Brown: great idea! i was really having a hard time making the bun, but your idea really helped me out! thanks a lot!!

tmsouth1: This is the best idea!! Took some practice but works great! For layers I make two 'buns'. This is when I am curling my hair.

miniacadian: I did this but forgot to put in a ponytail first...I ended up with awesome volume and a perfect sock bun!! Thank you so much!! :)

Sara Graves: I remember watching this in middle school and I was mind blown by it and boy did I rock the loepsie sock bun for several years

Hannah B: I used a knee sock for the bun and it worked great!!!!!! The bun added the perfect amount of volume to my hair, and it looked fantastic!!!! I knew another way to do a bun exactly like this without a sock, but it took 35 minutes! Now, I can do the exact same bun and it only takes fifteen seconds!!!! Love it!!! Thanks for posting the video!!!!!

aokiohyeah: had a lot of difficulty when i was trying to adjust my hair with the sock, finally got to do it after the next half an hour trying. cant wait to see the result!!

Jenn Mendoza: Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate this technique. Whether you "invented it" or not, it's still very helpful to see it visually. Thanks!

Rebeka Santek: That's awesome! I'll try it today, and the curls are beautiful! Thank you soooo much! This is way better than curling with heat or something like that...

Angelina Sophia Kamaratou: AND NOW 11 YEARS LATER SHE'S MARRIED AND WITH A HANDMADE WEDDING DRESS, HOW FAR SHE'S COME

bearcatnat: Very cute results. I love it! I will definitely try this, although I have very thick and curly hair, so I will start with a shorter sock.

Amy Cox: THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been doing sock buns for awhile, and I've never liked wrapping the hair around it!

rubie lapena: Omg this really worked on me!!!! My hair is long, passed my butt and this holds!!! I'm so blogging about this! Thanks for posting!!! -3 I'm gonna try the curls next!

Miss: wow this was awesome! I was able to recreate it, but I am using it to get the curl effect that you show in your next video! Thank you for making this.

MiaInWonderland: Awwh a baby loepsie

Michelle: This video was great! I hate using bobby pins for a bun, they get bent and I can't use them anymore. I've always wanted to know how to do a sock bun, and this was great information. It really helped me a lot! Thank you!

Mandy H: This is awesome! Thank you for this tutorial!

Jennifer Villa: This was amazing and so helpful! Thank you!!!

Erin Turner: Thank you so much for this video. It's nice to have a video to fully explain and show you how to do a sock bun, because I have never really understood the beginning bit. Thanks :)

Jael Ayala: this was literally the first YouTube video I ever watched

Rachel Torres: Simple but genius! This solves my problem with making a nice sock bun with my long hair

JDTCC: That is really brilliant actually, no matter when it was done. Really nicely done Loepsie!! P.S. She does in fact admit, in the video, that it isn't actually a secret and that it is a common use of the product. :-p And it is still very useful today. Not everyone was born at the same time you know. New youth, new students, new to them, remember that. ;-)

Alpacalypse: Youtube just suggested this video to me and I remember watching it back then! Crazy how I've been following you for more than 11 years! And still enjoying your videos

Chocolate chip: I'm glad I found your video before I tried this for the first time on myself and my daughter. It looks SO much prettier your way.

youssra ayad: After 11 years loepsie still the cutest you didn't even change omg❤️

DesDesu: DEAR GOD I am so happy I came across this. I love big buns in my hair but my hair is really fine so it only works sometimes! Can't wait to try this out.

Hailey Wilkins: Changed my life, my little sister has cp and this hair style is easy to do to her hair and keep it out of her face. You are a beautiful girl keep on being you and dedicating your own time to help others make life a little easier!!!!

Michelle Devon: I'm definitely going to try this. I hadn't ever seen the 'trick' before, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. Thanks for the tutorial!

ilovejustinforjustin: I'm awful at doing my hair. I can't french braid, fishtail, nothing. I watched this video and I swear the first time I attempted putting it in my hair it WORKED. This is so easy and gorgeous, if I can do it so can you!

knit_bear2.0: genius! i cant use shop bought hair doughnuts as they are never close enough to my hair colour (lilac) one lilac sock & this tutorial later doth a perfect bun maketh!

Autumn Watts: This is great! I've been trying to find a way to do this, Definitely going to try it out :)

Christine D: I have layered hair, and I just put my hair in a ponytail before it used the sock. That way, your layers don't start falling out halfway through! It worked perfectly :)

Rebecca Ciprus: You're SO helpful! Thanks for making this video :)

scarlett111213: I really love the results but, as you said, quite difficult to do on your first few tries. Great video!

acarmyofone: She is the cutest thing!!! I love how she was confused with her english at times... I wish my hair was long enough to do this!

readyornotify: This is a great tip, thank you! It took a little bit more practice, but I agree.... this method makes a much nicer looking bun!

Cottonkandy101: This is SO awesome for relatively short hair!!!

PrincessKwon87: I remember when my sister found out how to do this, she came in to my room yelling "Unnie! I have to show you how this technique on how to make buns!" My face probably looked so confused haha. I love this way of making a bun, it's so pretty and looks professionaly done ^^

Cecilia Deatherage: This was great! So pretty, thank you!

Antonniette Jaculbe: Can this work on layered hair?

0paigezilla0: I thought that I wouldn't be able to do this because my hair is so layered at the ends, but after a couple of tries I decided to put an elastic on the ponytail just above my shortest layer before pulling the ends through the sock the second time. I just left it in as I rolled the bun up and it turned out perfect! No fly-aways!

Zazeezoo: This is freakin awesome. I didn't think it would work with how short my hair is, but it does!

Elizabeth King: great video! thanks! my friend at school does this almost everyday and now i know how:)

Sharifa: So you've been unproblematic, beautiful and informative since 2009? Queen Energy!!

Ana Cozma: I did it! My hair looks so pretty :)

backbeatxrhythm: This was an awesome tutorial, thanks!

CHILL FROST: This was the first video i watched from your channel so many years ago!!! I was surprised a lot of changes had been made, until i found out recently your new hair styles tutorial ❤ you!!

tracy clanton: Awesome channel. Needing new ideas to do my daughter's hair. Sending her to school with a ponytail everyday is unacceptable!

Fetish ASMR: All the girls with shorter hair did this in the military. Especially for PI inspection..

lina chauser: this cracks me up, this is always how I used my sock bun! I didn't even know people did it the other way!

Dalia Lopez: she also teaches us how to cosplay Princess Leia

Skuuurj: I am very lazy, and don't really like to do much with my hair, but this is just fantastic. it always looks amazing and it's super easy to do. thanks for the video! also, i used a green, sparkly sock. that way, if it ends up showing, it still looks cute.

Prepper Dino: I used to be a teacher in cosmetology N. CA USA, years and years ago. I think it’s always fun to see new tricks. My question would be, if your hair is towel damn, and you put it into a sock bun, what kind of curl and style would come from it? Kinda like curling your hair in rags as they did in the old days....

Jemima1377: Amazing advice! This totally works, it looks fantastic and is actually ridicoulusly (sp?) easy! =) Thanks!

Laserrcat: I can't wait to try this! Adorable video!

atlababe: She is so cute :) Love this!

incurablenecromantic: I'm having a little trouble getting the sock to stay close to the back of my head--it tends to keep sliding out, so I end up with part of the pony tail exposed and the donut hanging about four inches further down. Any ideas on how to avoid this?

Bridget Leigh: I did it, I did it and it worked! Instead of dampening my hair, I used Tresemme Thermal Creations Curl Activator Spray and it really held the curl! I'd tried just wetting it first but the curls didn't hold. This made it hold all day long! Thank you!!!!

Monica B: That looks amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Daneen Ayoub: Why is she so underated she was on YouTube from start people give her some subscribers

Karools: This has helped me so much! Thank you! :) Wonderful techinique, except I use one of the legs of stockings because it is softer and my hair is a very light brown. And BTW Nikki blaze: I live in Africa and trust me it is not as poor as illinformed people think...

Jackie Ha: This is AMAZING. Thanks for the tip! :)

MoonBaby: you can use thick hair head bands too, I took one and doubled it up so it was smaller and used it that way on my friend who has very thin, stick-straight hair and it worked beautifully

ddutcher: I really want to do this! And I saw your sock bun curl video and your hair looks gorgeous! I tried it with my hair but its too many different lengths to get all the ends in there, do you have any suggestions?

luvmytorties: Why don't ppl look at the published dates? This video was done in 2009.

Daily Dose Of Minecraft: ahhh i love it so much. i could never get the sock bun to work for me i always had the same problem because i have longer hair about your length. this is great though i cant decide if i want to wear this or the sock bun curls on sunday to church now they are both great.!
