This is gon na be interesting because I'm talking to you guys about something that you can't even see, but let's try to make this work. Hey guys welcome to my channel. My name is chayote, and today I want to talk to you guys about something that has been long overdue. I can't something that I can't show you really so. You'Re gon na have to use your imagination today, I'm gon na talk to you guys about hijab', hair or hijab care. Hey jab, hair care, I've been wearing the hijab for about 13 years now I've been saying 13 for awhile, I'm 26 and I started wearing it. When I was 12 14 years yeah, my scalp has gone through a lot of different cycles. A lot of different experiences from fabulousness there's a lot of things going on alright, and I want to start off the video by saying that this is for people who are hijab. But this is also for people who just want to learn about hair care who wrap their hair at night. Things like that. But if you are someone who has curly hair, if you are someone that is balding because of your scarf, if you are someone that has a hard time, not knowing what you're doing when you wear a hijab and how to care for your hair, hopefully this helps You I really like this makeup. Look it's all drugstore, except for the eyebrows but anyways. I want to turn off by just giving you a little intro of what my hair is like and what I've gone through. So I have like East African hair curly soft curls. Not like super tight curls, but still curly can turn into an afro easily brushes when it's wet hard time brushing it when it's dry. It can turn into this, and then it can turn into this when it's wet. So it goes through a lot of different things. It'S very two-faced, so, beginning of my hijab journey I used to comb. My hair put it in a really tight bun, throw a scarf on. Usually it was turbans because I was like 14 and that's the quickest thing and I Jessica boy. So this has done a lot of damage to my hair. Now my hair would rarely ever be out to be honest only when I needed to brush it, I always kept it in a bun. I started to realize that my hairline was receding. I was losing a lot of hair here, it was thinning out and also the hair was breaking so as it would break. It would turn into a little stubble puffy like a little stubble puffy crown of broken thinned out here. But what did I care? No one. Really saw it right, that was my theory. No one thought whatever until my mom sat me down and she was like you're balding, whatever you're doing to look cute, it's not working out for you. I used to also wear my scarf a lot lower, which meant that, and I kind of figured out why I was balding alright, if you're a job and you're balding. This is why, most likely you are balding, I think it's called the do-rag hairline when you know dudes where do wrecks and they tend to vault in their hair area. Hope this makes sense all right. Let'S just use our imagination now your hairs in the button. Alright, here's an ax bun now the most strenuous part of your hair or the most the part of your scalp that will strain the most is the part that is the furthest from the button, because it's compensating the entire direction through. So there's gon na be a lot of string, and where is that area and your hairline? So if your bun is here, the complete opposite area is here, so this is where a lot of the strain is going to happen. This is where part of your hair follicle is literally holding up this bun and it's the farthest away from the bun a lot of pulling when you're combing you're pulling in the opposite direction. Your hair's gon na break, and then you put material on it that sits on top of it to increase the amount of strain alright. So your hairline here just goes through absolute hell. Alright, and it starts to break it starts to become brittle. Fabric is rubbing up against it, absorbing all that the natural moisture that you, your body, secretes into the hair, turns to turns dry. There'S certain things that happen to your hairline that the rest of your scalp really doesn't experience as much, and also you start to realize that your scalp, especially in your hairline area, is very sore because it's being pulled in one direction weight is put on to it. That'S basically why you are, I didn't really feel it until I let my hair out, I'm like it feels like a senator the pressure being distributed throughout the head. The pressure is being focused on the hairline. Do you get what I'm saying? I hope that made a lot a little sense, so there's my little theory on why your hairline is sitting out and regardless of, if you have curly hair, if you have straight hair it will. You will be experiencing the same thing now. If you have the curlier hair you're, most likely gon na experience it a little more because your hair is heavier just that's just the way it is so that's what I went through so my hairline was completely thinning out, and I wear my scarf down here. So the strain started from further upwards. It would start from further back long story short. I had an ugly good job line that my mom was like. You need to fix. Your hair is thinning, so whatever you're doing isn't really working for you and she gave me some really good advice. She told me to plat my hair or to braid my hair, that I can't believe I said plat. First, I'm such a trader. It'S the English Way of saying great. She told me to braid my hair under my scarf and I was like absolutely not so I can get little braids bumps and like not look cute, no mom thanks, but no and and then I start to realize. Ok, you know, even though nobody sees my hair, this thinning and this breakage is just not cute and it's starting to affect my self-esteem. So I took her advice. I wore my scarf further back. I let my hair line breathe a little, even though it was very thin. I I just went through this ugly phase, where my forehead was bigger than it actually should have been, which is big to begin with, because I'm East African but um yeah. I would braid my hair under my scarf squat under my scarf, and I found that this helped me because this pressure from the strain actually was just she beated throughout the head, and this stopped hurting me this stopped thinning. I had new baby hairs that were mad cute. I was like okay, this is working for me. I also found that my hijab' tan line that I had for like 10 years of my life, was starting to go away or it wasn't like worsening. It was just getting better because I wore my scarf exactly where my hairline is so. The tan line would go. My space would ten evenly. I felt more confident in myself. I started liking my big forehead. These are the things that literally like a simple change. In the way I wore my scarf literally boosted, my confidence, so much more so if you guys are struggling with hair loss, if you're struggling with hair breakage and things like that, I would suggest wearing your hair. A little differently - and in my case I wording plats. Yes, you will see the bumps, I don't know if you can see it, so I usually do two plots like this. That comes straight down and then I just the two pieces I wrap into a bun, which is this thing. Alright, yeah your hair looks a little flat. I mean you. Can you can plant a little knot as tight? I like planting tight, because I just like that. I like the way it sits, bump lists. It doesn't stick out as much and I just style my head job in a way where the plots don't look as silly and it's and it started to turn into a hit. My head job look and then I start to get inquiries on my hijab style and I was like. I only started wearing it this way because it like lessen the way the plots looked under my hijab and it actually tended to work on me better, which is like this tight fold and then, like all the way down he's the way I wore my hair. Under my scarf and that's the number one thing that I found helped my follicles help, my hair grow thick helped with the breakage help with the balding situation and when I got home and I took my hair out of my plots - my hair was luscious. It was beautiful, I mean like it, wasn't broken, it started to mend itself and then I started to use products that helped repair my hair and also help moisturize it, because my hair is so dry that if I don't use this product, it will literally just turn Into a fuzz ball, but with this product with combing it and braiding it in as soon as I took it out that my hair was still combed, it was still curly, it was healthy and it was. It wasn't frizzy at all all right now: oil based like hair oils, what I grew up using as a kid. I find that my hair does not absorb the moisture as much as it does with cream based leave-in conditioners, and this is something that I picked honor. Actually picked this out for me, how cute is that, when I moved to England, I couldn't find my hair food, so my hair was a hot mess, and actually this is when I just specially got married, so my husband actually saved my hair for the first time And it's actually being seen by people and it's a hot mess all right, so I was like having troubles finding beauty, supply stores that sold the same things I was using in Toronto. Anyways. How cute is this? He went to the store and he picked up this hair, leave-in conditioner and it said coconut, hair, hair, repair and moisture cream and he's. Like the ladies. I told her that my my wife is African, and the lady suggested this for me and I was like and he's Pakistani. He hasn't. He does not deal with the same difficulties as I do it. So when he came home with this, it was the sweetest thing ever just even if this product was crap, just the idea of him going and trying to find something because he realized how like annoyed. I was that I, when I moved to this country, I couldn't find the products I'm used to so cute anyways. I ended up. This ended up being the best product for me, my favorite hair product. Ever the only thing I use and ended up being like my holy grail for my hair, alright, so it's the orders, Hair Repair Clinic, coconut oil and baobab intense moisture cream for dehydrated hair. My hair will always be dehydrated. Now you, if you have straight hair, I think this makes it a little heavy on your hair. My hair can handle the moisture Ness of it, but just finding a good leaving conditioner. That makes you happy and allows your scalp to breathe is key alright. So this works too right here may not work for you, but it works for me and it ended up being the product that I've been using for two and a half years straight every other day, and it doesn't build up as much as all the other leave-in Conditioners I find that and lose my hair smelling really nice, it's like a cream, leave-in conditioner and what I do is after the shower dry, my hair, and when I tell dry my hair, I let it dry a little bit, keep it down, because I can't comb And if it dries completely - and then I put some of this all over my hair and a comb it and I plant my hair and by the next day and hit sleep with it, wear my hair drunk dries in the braids, because it's not drenched it's still. A little damp I wake up, my hair is completely dry and it's super like moisturized, it's not frizzy, but it's still curly. It literally ticks all the boxes and then for like three days straight. I will use this on my hairline to tame my hairline and like to the ends of my hair, to prevent dry dry, prevent it from drying out and breakage, and I find that this is the only product that I have found so far. That isn't built up grossly like it. Obviously, by like the fourth day fifth day, you want to wash your hair because leave-in conditioners, if you use them every day, but this is actually like to last week, five days of using this every day in my hair, not smelling feeling musty or feeling like there's Too much product in there, it's actually quite incredible. This is only 399 299 okay. So this is a little history of my hair background. What I went through and where, how I've gotten to where I am now so I started finding a hair routine over the past couple years. My hair grew back the luscious whatever so now how I care for my hair is I wash my hair every 4 to 5 days, but I can't wash my hair too much because it gets dehydrated. I don't produce a lot of oil on my scalp, so it doesn't get really oily. So if you do have straight hair and you do produce a lot more scalp oil and your hair gets really itchy. I suggest you washing your hair a lot more, but I mean that's just something that works for my African hair, the shoe Maura shampoo conditioner. I saved it for you guys there I was well to show you guys. I saved it for this video I've been using. It for, like six months, lasted me so long and then hubby left saw the empty bottles in the cupboard and he just tossed it. So I will put a picture of what it looks like here by the way this teddy bear is not it's not an average. Teddy bear that's my baby's heartbeat, we put it in a teddy bear and every night when mama doesn't get too annoyed. I like press it and I listen to it for a bit and then I fall asleep. I can't look to meet you if you're gon na watch this video baby. Try you take. It can't wait to meet you inshallah now something that I've recently incorporated in my hair, washing routine, basically curved your jaw, be your scalp must get a little rusty really because I'm it's under caught in or it's under a jab and it's tied up. You do have to have your hair breathe and I, when I get home I like to take my braids out and just have my hair breathe and also my husband likes looking at my hairs, it's kind of cute um, oh my god, when we got married, he Was like I don't know if I mentioned this before, like mixed-race, so he's Pakistani an East African, he was so cute the first time he saw my hair. He was like. Oh it's like sleeping on a cloud another night. What I didn't know they get offended or if he was being like complimenting me when he's on my a prayer he's like I love it, it's so fluffy, it's like sleeping on a cloud and I'm like sleeping on a cloud. This is the hair that I grew up with. I never really thought of it is like not normal, but to him obviously he's used to straight hair, because that's what he has the cutest thing. I guess that's what happens when you marry someone that's like has. That is a completely different race from you, but it was. It was so innocent and so cute, and he really liked the texture of my hair and it was so foreign to him. Do you know what I mean anyways yeah, so I tried this new product now this. I definitely wanted to try, because I was hijabis our scalps can get really like musty. You need to really get in there and clean your scalp and I double shampoo. I don't know if that's something that's like strange, but I have to because I don't feel like my hair is clean and I double shampoo Bumble and Bumble came out with this scalp detox with cleansing micellar water, fizzes, foams, to remove impurity product, buildup, etc, and because I'M using products so often to like tame my hair. I found that maybe the support, so I tried to sell and I've only tried it a couple times, but I want to share my experience with you guys, so you shake it and you divide your hair. I like to divide my hair into like four sections, so one and then two and then you pump it on your hairline, like on the divide how's, my scarf just coming out like my hair, is like so won't. Let they want to see looks again. Let me just fix this, put this on your hairline and it foams up, and then you take your fingers and you scrub it in your scalp. So it's sort of getting a pre cleanse to your shampoo. When I do - and I tried this out - it's like as soon as it comes out - it feels like ice. This is freezing cold for some strange reason. I don't know bumbling up it's bubbling. Ah, you like how I did that bumble and bumble bumbling up. It'S like bubbling up and it turns into this cream. Like consistency, anyways, I put this on my scalp alright and you just kind of it pops you just kind of rub it. Oh, my god, seeing it up close and personal, it's so strange, but you just kind of rub it into your scalp and it feels like ice like you're popping ice like little bubbles of ice that you're popping into yourself and just scrub. It scrub it in um annoyed. You know it's like a science experiment. It'S so strange to me anyways! I did that I scrubbed it in my scalp, it's freezing cold. I'M like, I don't even think this is gon na work and then I shampooed my hair, like normal, using my shoe and Mara, shampoo and conditioner, and then both by the way I stopped using products that have sulfate in it. I don't even know if this one does using like regular shampoos that have sulfate and some things like that. I'M trying to be like a little more careful with my hair, um shampooed, my hair, and when I came out, I found that my scalp was a lot more like detoxed and it actually worked a little like it helped like purify my scalp. So I want to subscribe - and I mentioned that I would try this out. I tried it out and I want to give you guys an update. I really really like this, so I think it's gon na be part of my for every four day, shampoo and conditioner step, I'm I like how its before the shampoo, so you get like a little pre wash in there before you wash wash another product. I absolutely love to use before I shampoo and condition, and it's a really strange product. I picked it up at Sephora. My sisters like how it was amazing, it's perfect for all hair types, but more like curly hair. If your hair doesn't really try, it take a protein repair and strengthen Queen anyways. This is bio, plaits um and it's a really small bottle. It'S actually quite pricy, so I don't use this quite often. I think I use this like once a month and um. Oh, you use one time per week, but you know I wash my hair every four to five days, so it's like one week is like using every single time and I don't really need it that much, but - and I find that this makes my hair. So it helps with the damage so much and helps strengthen my hair. My hair feels so glossy. It just looks naturally healthy without any product like it repairs the actual strands of hair, rather than help moisturize in the hair um - and I really like this, like I'm just so sad that it's a little pricey, but I picked it up at Sephora, and I mean These two products are my go-to pre shampoo, condition, products that I actually love this, especially for, like musty, hair bridge Abbey hair that just gets a little like the scalp. It gets a little deep clogged up and you need, like a nice cooling detox. I really like this and it smells really really good and the two brushes now I can't brush my hair with a comb. I have to brush it with a brush and um wait. That means I'm combing my hair not brushing anyways. I picked up this brush. It'S kind of dirty, so I'm not gon na show you the whole thing, but I picked up this brush from tangle teezer, it's their professional brush. I picked up this one and the curly-haired one and basically the bristles are really long. There'S no bones, but on the end of the bristles, so you don't find that it. She pulls my hair out. It'S really good with like, because the bristles are so long. I feel like as it's combing through my hair, it's just exfoliating my scalp as well. I love that about it and enough the way it holds and then also has a line down the middle of the brush, where you can really get in there and like clean out product or anything that gets kind of stuck in the bristles. So I love this brush. I'Ve been using it for about two weeks now and I'm really happy with it. I think it's perfect and it's perfect for my curly hair and it's also perfect. If you have curls and you want waves and you want to brush it out - this is a good product for that as well. It'S a really girl. Sorry! I used to sharing I'm showing you guys but yeah so watch my hair pre wash conditioner wash my hair. Let it dry a little bit, keep it a little depth and I use my ORS Hair Repair. Coconut oil distribute that evenly divide my hair in half and it braids my hair into two french braids and then tie it up, and that's it. That'S how I usually have my hair like most of the time unless I have the braids out when I'm at home. I find that it helps with the pressure strain on my hairline. It helps my baby hairs grow evenly and nicely, and it also helps with just keeping my hair frizz free, it's combed. Then it's braided when you take it out, it's still very easy to comb. Just it's just the perfect hair care routine for me and it solved all my problems so anyways just try it out experiment with different products. I mean everybody has different textured hair. You might not find the least products work for you. I mean I feel like this and this it's pretty generic like they'll work for anybody really, but the leave-in conditioners a lot more richer. It'S a lot more heavier, so you may find oils work better for you, oils just sit on my hair. I don't feel like they get absorbed and they stain my scarves where this does not stay in my scarf, after all, which I absolutely love about it, there's a little hair journey to hit tips and tricks what I went through for you guys and how I style My hair and I just want to quickly show you guys my hair and I'm getting good. I can imagine I like to wear like a cotton bonnet and I actually stopped wearing the spider. Remember the spider that I wore for volume. I mean I only wear those for special occasions, but I stopped wearing it on an everyday basis, because I find that it just weighed my hair down and it's as nicely as I wanted it to so what special occasions. I have a special technique on how I wear it and how I keep it like really like nice with my braids. It'S just another step and I'm just super lazy. So I usually wear like a cotton bonnet under my scarves, depending on the style of scarf that I'm doing. If I'm wearing a turban, I usually pull it back a little bit and you can kind of see my baby hairs, but also so I don't ten. I mean, if I'm wearing like this, it needs to be a little forward. Otherwise, my scarf will just slide back throughout the day where this kind of keeps it in place, and it works as like a barrier between my scarfs and then I just stole my scarf as is and yeah, I feel like the cotton is perfect. It helps and that neck don't worry scarf. If you are someone that wraps, you here at night definitely definitely invest in a spill upon it because, first of all so clients don't really work for jobs because they defeat the purpose of providing a friction free base. But when you aren't sleeping, I would definitely recommend it, because silk is like the perfect material for hair. It helps glide the hair on top. It helps prevent breakage and also really good for your face and your skin as well. It helps reduce sleep lines and wrinkles, and things like that. So if you are someone that does wrap your hair at night definitely definitely use a silk bonnet or some type of silk scarf to do so. I hope this was helpful for you and I know you're gon na ask what's on my lips, so I'm just gon na tell you the Max Factor, lip Finity lip color and it's like a liquid lipstick and it has a good lip balm that you can also Wear under it, but I skip the lip balm step because I, like a matte finish and yeah struck stores super affordable. I will link it down in the description box thanks so much for watching guys. I hope you understand what I was I like to ramble, but if you are new to my page, join the family hit the subscribe button and also hit the bell notification. I love you guys. Bye,

Sumaya Omar: Yes! Needed this video. I neglect the hell out of my hair just cause no one really sees it BUT sis 2019 we hopping on a healthy hair care routine. This video was super helpful thanks!!

Taimie K: I reverted to Islam 1.5yr ago and started wearing the hijab 1.5 week ago. This is something that I definitely need. This video was super helpful!!❤️

Tiyya S: The issue is we have the “no one sees, so what? It doesn’t matter” and not the hijab itself . I stay having twists and random braids that look weird, but you know what?! A bald headed sis, went from never growing hair to hair down my back and thick af! 4c hair grows long too . Just take care of your dang hair ladies. Stop blaming the hijab for ya laziness leading to hair loss. Wear a silk scarf under your hijab to protect it from whatever hijab material that is abrasive and harsh.

Yasminh159: Just wanted to add to this. I don't think hair loss is only common with girls covering. I feel these days hair loss/thinning/balding becoming very common nowadays. I don't cover (yet) and I have the same issues. It is also I think down to the amount of (Or lack of) nutrients we're getting from food these days, hard water etc too

Munisa Farook: Listening to you talk about your husband and baby makes my heart so warm. Also inspired to take better care of my hair, I needed this video! Huge fan, so much love!

Zeytun Y: I am loving this new wave of hijabis openly taking about hair care, we NEEDED this!

Zuhkey: I regret being a stubborn teen back then. My mum always tried to talk me into braiding my hair but I never listened. I'm 23 now and I've started braiding my hair just last year.. just last year! And OH MY GOD my hair is much more voluminous and healthier now!!!

The Blushing Giraffe: You explain things so well, thanks for this video I really thought after marriage I’d naturally make more effort with my hair, but with working full time I’m usually too lazy and exhausted to bother I definitely want to put more effort in this year!

A: this is a real issue yall, I used to have thick hair and I started to do extremely tight buns and ponytails under my hijab and my hair line has gone back so so so much. Not only that my hair was practically dead and I’d have constant migraines. Making the slightest change such as wrapping your hair in silk bonnets, oiling it regularly, plaiting it will make the biggest difference. My hair is slowly starting to become a lot more healthy.

GreenTea27: For all my hijab sisters with 3-4C afro hair textures Jamaican Black Castor Oil is a staple for growing and maintaining your hair. It's natural and it can even be used on your eyelashes and eyebrows to grow them. ;)

Crazy SexyCurvy: Good video! I don't wear a hijab (I'm not Muslim), but I wear alot of hair wraps and I've noticed these symptoms too. I'll try some of your suggestions x

Amarah M: Thank you for this video!!! Hijabi hair care definitely needs to be talked about more!

mstasi27: This happened to me with the back of my hair with my under scarf being tied and in the crown of my hair as well. Thank you for this video because its not really talked about.

Adnan A: I didn’t know this was an issue. This will be helpful if I have hijabi patients in the future

Sumayyah: So relatable - I started wearing the hijab at the age of 10, and definitely like yourself and many others has the mind set of ‘who cares, no one sees my hair’!! I went years without trimming my hair and used to put my hair up in a really tight high bun, under a scarf cap. The only time my hair would breath was at night! I noticed my hair thinning massivley, hair loss and my hair line strated to recede. It was only two years ago that i finally cut my hair and honestly it was the best thing ever - Eversince I have stopped pulling my hair so tightly, but instead partin my hair to the side or down the middle; I have also stopped wearing a under cap on a daily basis and keep my hair in a loose half pony under my hijab. I wash my hair 2-3 a week and oil my hair at least once a week: honestly i have noticed a huge change in my hair and scalp - Only if someone had told me this sooner !!?

SocaMusicLova1: What Mahnal is describing is traction alopecia. Traction Alopecia can happen to anyone but it is most common for people with curly hair. It can affect people with straight hair if too much weight is put on it. Such as trying to wear sew-ins,hair extensions or even ponytails pulling to oblivion.

Unicorn Nazia: Thank you so so so much for this. I honestly thought for the LONGEST time that I was alone with this issue but I know better now. I’ll be imbedding all these tips into my life now!! ThaNK YOUUUU!

InspoWithTeena: All I can say is thank youuuuuuuuuu! I’ve been waiting for a video like this !!! No one talks about hair care as a hijabi and it’s such an issue. Thanks for the tipsssss! ☺️☺️ MashAllah beautiful as always

Simplicity With F: You're so funny and you explain everything so well at the same time, loved the tips

S Ali: JazakAllahkhair for this video. I have been wearing hijab in the same way for just over 10 years. I wear a cotton cap underneath which I never fasten too tight and then a light polyester scarf. I’ve never had any problems but since the last few weeks on and off I have been experiencing similar symptoms where I felt pressure/discomfort/pain on the top left hand side, not exactly on the hairline but a bit further back. I have been praying to Allah to grant me shifa and it has reduced. I know longer wear the cap instead I wear a cotton bandana about an inch back from My hairline and i feel this has helped but do find that my side hairs come out of my hijab so I’m always having to tuck in etc also my hair had got quite long and I may have been pulling it tight when putting in the clutch so I also had a haircut so it’s no weighing down as much with the length so that has helped too Alhamdhulillah the feeling isn’t as bad since the last couple of weeks but it is irratating when it’s there. May Allah protect us from hair loss and make it easy for us Aameen

Iqra Arshad: I don't wear a hijab (at least not yet) but I've been wearing my hair up in tight ponytails or buns for years, especially when I couldn't manage my wavy and greasy hair. I found it easier to slick it back real tight. And although it's not massive, I've noticed some hair loss and thinning around the hairline. I really need to fix this so thank you!!

Schifra X: This is a idea to wrap your hair with a silk scarf under your hijab, so that your hair will stop rubbing against your hijab.

Amber C: This was a good video, and the first one I've seen from you. I'm a hijabi with afro textured hair. I watch a lot of natural hair youtubers. What helps me is sticking to a regimen. I also switch up my styles, sometimes a sleek low bun, sometimes braids or twists.

ahakim413: I went through the same thing. I tend to just clip my hair back or wear it loosely with a satin scrunchie. And about the hair products: trying to find my curly hair products in the UK was difficult. I do sulfate and silicone free stuff and there's some in the UK but it's nothing compared to the US. When I move back I'm tempted to have to have someone ship them to me from home .

pattiniseme: I’m a 36 year old Asian hijabi and the hair has been receding so I’m so happy to hear I’m not the only one to experience this. I will try this even through we have different hair types. Will try it either way.

Felicia: This started happening to my hair line. Thank you for this video.

jablum77: So you are so friggin gorgeous. Your explanation of the tension along the hairline is so accurate for anyone who pulls their hair back alot. Also the crown can get a lot of tension. I wonder how long is your hair. So sweet that Teddy bear. Congrats

Hanady Khan: OMG I know exactly what you'r talking about! Thats exactly my theory too about the hairline. I started not tying my front hairs kinda like turned them into bangs and I would keep them to the sides by my ears. And I would tie the rest of my hair back. It has helped my hair grow so much better upfront alhamdullilah no more receding hairline. And then when my hair shows upfront sometimes wearing the hijab people question why but they don't understand the struggle. Like I'm not doing it purposely to show my hair I'm just trying to help my hairline.

Batya Grace: Thank you. I needed this. Same issues going on here.

Fatimah D: Braiding your hair under scarf helps. African girls who choose to braid their hair knows what am talking about..

N R: I love when you said plat your hair. I'm Jamaican and as a child when my mom would call me to do my hair she would say "come let me plat your hair" for church, school or whatever

Christina G: It's called traction alopecia. When you pull your hair tight into a bun or braids causing hair loss. Combing your hair actually will increase blood flow to the scalp. Peppermint essential oil in whatever you put on your scalp, will also increase blood flow which in turn increases hair growth. Using a silk scarf or fabric that doesn't absorb the moisture on your hair keeps it from breaking. If you don't have damaged hair, just dry hair, avoid anything with protein in it.

Maham Mughal: I’m so glad you made a video on this! There wasn’t a lot of videos on youtube about this so... thank you hijab balding is a real thing.

Cristina R: I don't wear a hijab but I've only been wearing a tight bun for years now. And same about receding hairline because of the tightness, I was ignoring it until I saw your video. Only started the video, pretty sure the tips will be helpful for me too.

bonnet: This was very interesting! We assume that low manipulation will yield massive hair growth and benefits, but this proves there is a minimum of hair care required.

Oshinity: I love this video. Really informative. And yeah, on the ponytails and buns I used to do the most with the tightness and paid for it. I’m easier on it now. I’ll look for the Ors leave in. Trying to take care of my hair. What I remember when I used to wear hijab daily is the same thing you said: nobody can see it so why should I bother? Lol. Same used to happen with abaya I’d just throw anything on underneath haha. Has pregnancy had any effect on your hair? Some people experience hyper growth.

BMBO75: OMG thanks Chinutay for posting the video I was looking for since moonths everything you describe about your hairline is what I'm going through right now and I feel so bad because I don't know what to do to stop my hair loss Plus, I'm a "Tryna hide this big forehead" girl (Thanks to my Comorian origins) but I'll try to embrace my forehead and wear my hijab farther! Anyway thank you very much oukhty (please excuse my English, I'm french)

Akai Taiyo: if you have too much tension on your hairline it will cause some hair loss, this is common for people who wear wigs, do rags/headscarves or hijabs. It is best to keep your hairline moisturize as much as possible using oils or butters depending on your hair texture. Wearing a silk scarf helps to retain the moisture and does not agitate the hairline.

Hadiyya: I'm definitely going to check out the leave in conditioner cause I have the same problems with oil based moisturizers on my hair.they just kinda sit on top and stain my hijabs

Samer Ismail: YESSSS GIRL THIS WAS A VIDEO IVE NEEDED BUT DIDNT EVEN KNOW I NEEDED IT LOL THANK YOU SO MUCH! And You & your hubby are the cutest mashAllah

ilhaam M: loved this video!! ive been doing a lot of what you've been doing as well (braids are golden!!). but if you want your hair to grow in terms of length and thickness, rice water is amaaazing!! Check it out :)

Amazingf123: omd first time watching you and I love youuuuuu, your personality can be seen through the way you talk, and your not afraid to express your feelings<3

Esraa E: So precious!!! and I love the story of your husband going in to find you products. ADORBSSSSSSS

WW: I used to suffer from headaches because of the tight bun and having my hijab on all day but now, I wrap my hair with a smaller stretchy band that covers all my hair without having to tie it in a bun, then wear the regular hijab on (we use very thin fabrics for hijabs in Kuwait so its not hot wearing 2 pieces together).

ً ً: I wish i told my younger self this, omg. My hairline has been through so much and i hate it. I wish i continued to braid my hair and didnt wear my cap and scarf so damn tight

Yasmin M.: Yes GIRRRRRRL Needed this x My Baby hairs have been thinning so much since I used to wear the inside hijabs. It’s just so annoying coz I have Alhamdulilah thick curly long hair ( I’m also Ethiopian ) but my baby hairs have started to bald

fofo m: thank you so much for sharing this great advice ♥️

G Ads: This is useful for us wig wearers too x

charro028: Man! Your husband is the best! Blessings to you family!!!

Elle: Love this video, SO HELPFUL! You look gorgeous mashallah ❤️

Sapje 94: Such a great video! Im gonna braid my hair from now one before putting on the hijab. Could you please show us how you braid your hair. Maybe on someone who doesn't wear a hijab :D

cutenobi: 1)Braid hair under scarf 2)wear scarf further back to allow hair to breath 3)use products that repair and moisturize hair 4)find a hair routine 5)invest in a silk bonnet

Muslihah A: Thank you so much for this video! Really needed this. Definitely going to try your French braid style under the hijab!

Fahima Tokhi: OMG I didn’t realize how badly I needed this video!!!! I love they way your very detailed in how you do it and how you’re very real !!!

Imaan Goldsworthy: Assalamu'alaikum wow I needed a video like this. I'm a revert for more than 30 years and I am balding because of wearing hijab .this video is so helpful Thanks

Nada: Thank you lovely for raising this !!! Xx

R A: Thank you so much. I have the same hair type and the same struggle. ❤

Nawal Hassan: I've been waiting for someone to discuss this. No matter what I use or how I put my hijab on. I bald and loose hair so much.

Green Tea&mint: Mashallah sister. I really liked this video I'm 28 and realised that in 4 years using Hijab I have lost more than half of the volume. Mostly because using the bun and not taking proper care of it. I also have scalp issues than I could not find out how to solve yet.

Mariam Khan: Holy snap I didn't even know this was a thing! And I thought it was only me who had this issue my hair was in a constant bun .... damn

Iman Shafiq: Omggg I needed this video. I also became bold N before it gets worse I wanted to look for a remedy!!! Thank uuu

Ruqayyah Rashid: i love you so muchhhh thank you for this very helpful vid, saving all the hijabis out there!!

Charlie Wow: I'm white, so my hair is a little different and I don't braid in rows, but it is curly if I wash it right (sometimes i'm lazy) I've been growing my hair out from shaved for about 3 years now, and I converted and starting wearing hijab about a year and half ago. Styling my hair under hijab while it was so short was difficult, and I ended up putting a lot of weight on the tiny bun I could manage, in an attempt to volumize it. Over time my iman has grown, and I care less about having a nice bun under my hijab, but I still have sensory issues and need my hair off my neck. So i still wore buns, but more relaxed and lower. I've never been nice to my hairline through all of this and the hair coming from my hairline is still was shorter than the rest, it breaks before it can grow long enough, and I've began to worry about my hairline. Finally a couple weeks ago I realized my hair was just reaching long enough to braid. I've spent a lot of time excitedly relearning how to braid and french braid (dutch braid really, I only know how to braid under on my self because I learned to braid over on others and dolls lmao) But I'm really excited to finally be able to style my hair better to protect it under hijab! alhamdullilah

cutenobi: Great tips. I’m African American with 4C hair and I have been wearing head wraps. My edges have been thinning and I think it’s due to buildup because I haven’t been washing my hair regularly.

Oumi DJM: Thanks for all the advice! Also it is important to wear a satin/silk cap under your hijab because à coton material will strip the moisture out of your hair. I wear a satin cap or a Durag under my hijab and my hijab doesn’t slip. And maybe dry your hair with a 100% coton t-shirt instead of a harsh towel. Makes a difference when it comes to frizz! Xxx

Joycey Tonga: The Denman brush is a great brush for curly hair too. Very hygienic and easy to clean.

Zee: Love this hijab style on you!

safiyyah esmail: I’m having hair issues too hijabi problems, needed to watch this video❤️

asiya jama: As a Somali I needed this! Thanks hun ❤️

mera Adhanom: Use almond oil. I wear my hear in a bun, and I lost a lot of my hairline. Massaging my scalp with almond oil helped me a lot. Nothing else worked for me before. No coconut oil, no castor oil and any other hair products. I even tried prp. I am using it on my eyebrow and it is flourishing!!! Good luck everyone with hairline repair.

Butterflies: A much needed video- also you look gorgeous !

PreeThePanda: First time this is popping up for me, definitely on point. Not sure what you’re using now but from a 4C sister, try Shea Moisture Jamaican Castor Oil range. Heavy, cream based products. The leave in conditioner is amazing. Leaves your hair super soft. I’m so surprised that you find shampoo useful though! I personally don’t believe in it for my hair, strips too many natural oils away.

Safa Aslam: "Oh it's like sleeping on a cloud" bless him you guys are the cutest couple xx

Hassina Sayedi: Your information was so useful thank you

Hadeel Damerji: I used to tie my bun too tight under my scarf, now i put it in a very loose bun and the growth is crazy!!

Aneesah Najla: Great video! I havent wore my hijab since I was 18 (well a few times I have Family events) but i had noticed early on late teens I would have broken thinned hair in the front of my head. SO i getcha! THNKS

Noora Khan: Omggg I needed this video my head always hurts near my hairline and my eyes strain too

KristieM: This is happening to me right now but I don’t wear hijab I just got lazy and only wore my hair in a tight ponytail for too long thanks for this!

Farzana El-Syed: I NEEDED THIS. HAD THIS STRUGGLE FOR 9YEARS.

Faiza Abdi: This is so helpful!!

Monifa 360: Love this makeup look! Protect the hair especially those edges ladies hijabie or not

Destinie Lo: I so needed this! I don’t wear hijab daily but I just started using coconut oil and stop tying my hair up

naima asayr: I had the same problems but I solved it by braiding my hair and doing twist out .and yes oils doesn’t work but leaving conditioner is the best .

bulletproof two moons: A somali/ east African , i can so relate. Great video x

Amira L: I want to try those products and see if they work for my hair even though it’s not African. I am arab and I LOVE Carols Daughter! Have you tried their products? Up until recently I would use their deep conditioners every time I wash my hair and then a hair oil or one of the lighter creams. The monoi or black vanilla lines are amazing!

Latifa Maiyat: Love this, thank you so much

Ruba Alhrbi: Thank you it was very helpful

We Need: You’re still really pretty and Insha Allah in no time you’re hair will grow

The Residual Master: Great video, but I literally almost had a heart attack when you startef taking off your hijab lol. I need that moisturizing shampoo, I will definitely be grabbing that!

Sara Abdullahi: Much needed! Especially in an African hair point of view i.e. curly hair. Adding to these to my shopping cart! Thank you

fara ysp: OK I have been wearing hijab like 4 years my hair balding over the years I got depressed so here's the thing like many others I thought that have got to do with hijab... So one day accidentally I bumped into a Chinese 'clinic' some sort did some test on me through a device so apparently I lacked alot of vitamins minerals and nutrients so I did some research and how as we aged majority of us are in deficient from these vitamins minerals and nutrients so I increase my supplements intakes then I saw baby hairs I was so happy that it got better and my hair my eyebrows my eye lashes grow longer and fuller I started using some coconut oil castor oil vitamin e oil onto my scalp and its even better now my hairline my two sides that were balding are growing hairs! Well at least my head not balding!

AmYam Hassan: thank you!!! i’m only 14 but it’s starting to show . i will definitely try this

Zulaikha Yaseen: Yall this is my unbelievable story about the hijab Read this if you have hope❤️ So I was born with a heart syndrome named “hypo plastic left heart syndrome” it’s basically where you heart is halted bc the other half cannot generate properly. The doctors told my parents what will basically happen to me as I grow up and one of the things we’re not being able to grow out my hair. This is because my heart won’t be able to pump blood properly. And my hair Didn’t grow. When I was 0-2 years old I was bald. 3-5 my hair was like a boys. 6-9 I had my hair just below my ears. I didn’t care about my hair at the time so neither did I care about how I looked. My hair stayed in this position until I started wearing a hijab which was when I turned 10. I never really cared about my hair and wasn’t paying attention to how much it was growing. I kept my hijab on for nearly 2 years but when I turned 11 I started my period, and I wasn’t worried because Iv heard of this stuff but until one certain week my persuaded were very heavy. This went on for 2 weeks and we went to the hospital. The doctors said they do have tablets that can stop this but if I take them it will stop my heart as I’m under another tablet to keep my heart going for my syndrome. So there was nothing they could do about my periods but they could give me tablets that kept my energy levels normal and my iron up. My periods went on like this for a year. It was very tiring and during time went on I kept fainting and feeling absolutely warm in winter and I was scared of what would happen in summer. My parents told me that we need to go to the doctors. The doctor told me my head is getting to warm and she started talking about a head warming thing... it had a special name but I forgot. She told me that my head is warming up because of the hijab. Now don’t call her racist or somet like that because she was a Muslim too and was wearing a hijab like I was. My parents told me to take my hijab off and that it was because of my health. Only for school tho. The next day it was a Thursday and I refused to take my scarf off. But I fainted again and my parents told me it was for my own good and it won’t be bad and that it’s for my health issues. The next day I took my scarf off. By the time I was 12 and my hair was always in a bun and I took it out. I was shocked. So we’re my parents. My hair was longer than my sisters and mothers. It was just above my hips. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I bought if never have long hair and I knew it was the hijab. How else would have my hair grew 12 inches in a year???? Now I am 13 and my hair is half way down my butt (I didn’t wanna day that) and I still keep my hijab on. Just not in school. And I don’t put it on tight and I don’t wrap it around my neck or head I just lay it on my head and my hair is growing tremendously fast and I don’t do anything to it at allll. Nothing like rice water or tuff you will find on internet. I don’t use heat like straighteners or curlers even hair dryers. ❤️ I’m so happy. I hope I reach my desired hair length

Mav vlogs: Yes I experienced this I was losing my hairline hair bad

Sumayyah: Iv noticed rather than keeping your hair loose, sleeping with my hair in a low braid has also helped to prevnt my hair from falling out and knoting up.

Farida Elmasry: GIRL try the Cantu apple cider vinegar root rinse!! I've been using that to like really clean my scalp and its UNREAL it makes your scalp so fresh and clean !

Tiana Solomon: 30 seconds in, in love, inspired and subscribed (:

Sumaya Taliep: I love you. U keep it so real ❤️

Qutba Al Ghafri: I usually don't comment but this video was so useful and you are so cute! thank you for sharing this

LovLocs58: May I suggest underbraiding: most people braid so the braid sits on top but an underbraid is when you see the seam of the braid, leaving the braid close to the scalp and the seam topside. It eliminates braid ridges (bumps) giving you a smoother surface.
