My Hair Growth Journey ‍‍♀️ - Buzzcut Q&A | Hair Care

Hey guys, it's me dana today, i'm going to be answering your hair related questions, because i buzzed my hair two years ago and some of you have been following along as my hair grows and you've left some great comments on my previous videos and also on the Community tab, so i compiled a list. I tried to condense it and while we get through this, i'm gon na be recreating this beautiful makeup. Look, let's just get started: okay, here's the hair! Do you see this hair? So i taped down a strand the longest strand. I could find zero almost 15 inches. So if i just measure from my head an average, i grew six inches in the first year and at least seven and a half inches the second year 13 and a half. So the first question is why what made you decide to buzz your hair, so there are two things that i've always wanted to do with my hair. One was bleach, it be a blonde and then second thing was to buzz it. It happened. I did both. So in the summer of 2019 i bleached my hair. It didn't suit me also. No one recognized me i'd be walking up to my friend and waving and she would just look behind her. I also didn't like that when i would shower it would just clump into a ball. I tried to get my hairdresser to cut it short because i had long hair at the time and she cut. Maybe this much so i went home and i cut it myself and that started. I think the process of me going shorter and shorter. Until eventually i buzzed it. I got it professionally dyed black, which i loved. I had shorter black hair and then, as my natural hair started to grow in, i buzzed my hair, because i realized it was the perfect time to do it. I wasn't cutting off a bunch of my natural hair. It was just damaged. I was in school. It really didn't matter what people thought. I feel like. That'S really the main reason something i always wanted to do and the timing next question: how did your friends and family react? Were you treated differently with short hair versus when it grew out, so my mom and dad loved it? My mom also wanted to buzz her hair when she was younger, so i i shared this with her a long time ago and then she said she also wanted to do it, but she never did so they fully supported it. My dad thought it was super cool. He took a picture of me with my cat this one. I didn't really warn anyone that i was going to buzz my hair, except for my roommate, but i went to class and my professor was so excited. He was like shinee o'connor and then he played her music for us. I wasn't really expecting the amount of attention that i got, but i'm glad people acknowledged the change because it is a very drastic change. Another thing that was surprising was that people recognized me with the buzz cut, but they didn't recognize me with the blonde hair say for the most part people treated me the same. They were just initially shocked. Were there people who made fun of you or made you feel like it was the wrong decision? How did you manage so? No one in real life had anything negative to say if they did, they were polite and they just kept it to themselves, which is what you should do. Um the only people who had something mean to say were the youtube commenters and how i managed well. First. I felt very defensive and i wanted to tell them they're wrong, but it doesn't really matter. They don't know me so how i managed it was to ignore it. How did it affect your confidence? Did you ever feel insecure or have self-esteem issues after you buzzed your hair? Did you ever regret your decision, so i didn't regret it, and i definitely don't know because my channel was monetized how it affected my confidence. I was so focused on school that i didn't really worry about how i looked and once it was the pandemic. I had that mullet and the mullet. I really did not like it, so it did affect my self-esteem and eventually i ended up cutting it to even it out into a short bob. So that just leads me into the next question was how often did you get trims, so i got two trims and then one haircut and my mom cut it. So i didn't go to a professional. I have a fuzzy neck and there's like this little point to my short hair. I wanted to even that out so that people didn't have to see that and then so that was at the four month mark and then i did it again, the six month mark and a year and two months in i cut it because i just could not Handle that mullet, i don't have any pictures of the militia's face on only from the time lapse, because that's how much i didn't like it, i would either tie it into two little. My dad called them flickies because he would flick them, so i would tie them into two little flickies and then, as it grew a bit more, i could tie it half up, but still when it was down, i wanted to cut it to even it out. That'S why my hair is even right now, it's because of that cut. Did you like being bald? Did you like your shorter crop? What were the pros of shaving your head? According to you, so, yes, i loved having a buzz cut and, having short hair main reason, was how quickly it dries after you shower. You put a towel on your head and it's dry, like that's amazing, and that never happened before, because i never had such short hair. I got a lot of compliments on my skull. The shape of my head, which is nice. It'S different and shampoo lasts such a long time. How did you go out with wigs or with your natural hair? I do have a wig, but i didn't go out with it. You put it on my favorite youtuber megan. She has this wig and i had to buy it. Another cool thing about megan marco was that i think three weeks after i posted my time lapse video she said she was working on one just growing out. Her roots made me think that she probably watched my video. Oh, i once went out to the hardware store like when the pandemic started with my dad and we just did curbside pickup and we both wore wigs. So i wear this one and he wore this. Like black curly matted one, but now it was winter when i lost my hair, so i went to class like with my hat on. I have this huge hood with fur, so i just this is what i look like and then i get to class and i would have no hair. This question was asked a lot. How different were the regrown hairs in terms of quality and texture? Did your hair grow back thicker? Will it help to increase hair volume uh? No, my hair is exactly the same as it was before. I bleached it yeah. That'S it. What shampoo and conditioner did you use in this journey? How often do you wash your hair in a week, so i wash my hair every day seven times a week and the shampoo that i used was hello hydration by herbalescence for the first year, then i think they changed the label and maybe even the formula, because When i started using that new bottle, my hair was falling out like crazy, so i stopped using it. So i switched to another herbal essence: it's nice, so good, but then in may i decided i was going to test out function of beauty for the last six months and i have a clip from six months ago. So, let's play that. So i think, i'm at week, 73 and now that i can tuck my hair behind my ear. I noticed that this hair looks a bit oily. I noticed in my youtube videos. Actually, so i thought, let's test out function of beauty. One of my hair goals is oil control. I also pick lengthen because we know that my hair grows half an inch a month. So let's see if it's any more than that by the end of the year, we'll see if it worked. So, as i mentioned, i had oily hair behind my ear and it worked it fixed that problem that i had who knows maybe function of beauty, helped towards increasing the length of my hair this year. If you have any shampoo recommendations for oily scalps leave them down below what product do, you think played a major role in helping your hair grow? I didn't use any oils, i didn't take any vitamins, i ate the same and i exercised the same amount. So i really don't think there was any thing that helped make my hair grow. I think it's all genetics, how did you style your hair in the first 30 weeks? So when my hair was drying after a shower? I would part it where i wanted and then use a scarf tie. It down really tight for maybe five minutes and then it would be in place and then i could go in and add some of this wax it's the one my mom uses because she has short hair. It smells really good. Does head shaving help to stop hair fall when it grows back? I think when it's really short, it doesn't fall out as much like. I didn't notice as many hairs or like no hairs on the bathroom floor. Now it's like there's so many so yeah keeping your hair short could help with hair fall. I think that shampoo also switching it up. No no lashes, i'm gon na mess that eye up with the the glue and the fake lash. Oh well. How old were you? How old are you when i shaved my head? I was 24, so i am 26 fun fact week 99 was taken on my 26th birthday. How did i manage to maintain the same emotion and position each week? So if you watch the video on how i edit you'll see that i'm sitting and i do a burst so i'll just sit, there take a burst of pictures and then i'll have like ten. Whichever one is most similar to the position of the first picture, they weren't they weren't exactly the right position, so i just tried to line them up in photoshop afterwards. Oh, oh yeah, one second, okay. So week, 97 was almost the exact same i'll play for you. Guys when i edited that one i was screaming like this, it's so much the same. Do you plan to grow your hair super long? Yes, i do because i love having long hair. I love doing this hairstyle when you just tie it. I like having ponytails and because i cut my hair, there's still a few little danglies back there and i want it to be long enough, so i can put it up. That'S another advantage of shaving your head. You don't get the sore ponytail bump in your head from it, but also. I actually think that long hair is lower maintenance than short hair, because i don't need to style my hair. This is just air, dried done and then you're. Good short hair is definitely much more there's more work to style. Do you think you will shave it all off again in the future? No, i like having long hair and as much as i did like having a buzz cut um. It was like a bucket list thing and i've done it. I'Ve documented it. I have the time lapse and i think i made the most of it so to transform you got to do these contacts, which hairstyles were your favorite in the time lapse. One thing was that i didn't style my hair in almost any of those pictures. I would just shower: let it air dry and poof, then i would take the picture and then style it, but in week 30 i actually had the hair styled and that's what i included in the thumbnail. I really like that picture. I liked my makeup in it and then week 103. I also like that one because i like how it just like sits a little okay for this last portion of the video here are some questions. I don't know the answer to any tips on how to grow a cat on your neck. How did she predict that hairdressers would be closed during the pandemic and does hair growth work differently for men?
