Hi everybody welcome back to the kitchen, I'm robbing McDonald's your kitchen beautician thanks for joining me today. Today'S video is called hair care tips for coarse, dry gray, hair. Now here's what happens as we grow older, the cuticle grows open and we lose all that essential protein. That we need to keep the hair silky and soft and shiny when we're younger. That cuticle is completely sealed, sealing in all those great proteins now a way that we can replace the protein in the cuticle and the hair shaft is by using a high-protein, nourishing hair mask and today what you're going to need is believe it or not vegetable. Shortening. I like to use, as usual, a vegan shortening I pick up at Whole Foods. This is what's going to bond all these great oils and proteins that we're using today in the hair and a little bit of coconut oil loaded with EFA fabulous for the hair as well. You know: coconut oil is a little bit waxy when you get. It looks like it comes out of a mayonnaise jar, make sure you get extra virgin oil that hasn't been refined in any way. An organic coconut oil really works fast, it's more easily absorbed into the scalp. The scalp is where everything happens. So um you got your vegetable or oil, shortening sorry and coconut. Now we're going to take a little bit of canola oil. That'S about! I don't know three teaspoons and you can eyeball this with the olive oil. I like to do I'd, say a couple of tablespoons of that as well, and we're also going to use half of an avocado avocados rich and EFA. It'S a nice fatty fruit will also help to bond all this together. This is a gorgeous hair mask tasty too mmm, oh yeah. I love that avocado. Take your whisk and just kind of mash. This now you're going to want to apply this onto a clean towel. Dry hair. I like to take a good comb, create a bunch of parts in the hair and then feed the scalp with this high-protein luxurious, nourishing mask and good enough to eat. I do say so myself you're going to want to leave this on and you can put a little saran wrap over your hair too, to hold the heat in anytime. You use heat on a on an oil treatment like this on. You might remember the famous vo5 hair treatment that our moms used to buy and run them under hot water, those little capsules and put them in the hair same idea whip this up almost looks like guacamole apply to the hair, sit around for about 20 minutes rinse With warm water follow with a good, shampoo and conditioner, you won't believe how silky and shiny your hair comes out. So stay strong, embrace age. It'S going to happen to all of us. It'S a beautiful thing thanks for joining me in the kitchen, I'm Robin McDonald, your kitchen, beautician I'll, see you next time.

June Buggy: I really like the texture and shine of your hair which is why I continue to put gentle blonde dye on my hair (no bleach, no ammonia)so it won't be coarse and wirey. Regardless of the grey pressure trend in 2018,2020 im keeping it closer to my natural White root color to soften.

Elizabeth Martinez: Thanks so much for the tips, I had a very dry hair, now I`m using the pro naturals four steps hair care system and it`s pretty amazing too.

Veronica Allen: Is this only a one use or are you able to put it into a container and use it another time?

Joli Marie: How often a week should you apply a hair mask?

Diane Trombley: How much shortning?  how much coconut oil???

nelida kiss: thank u I am going gray and keep it . I decided not to dying my hair last time was august 31 -14   feeling happy

socksumi: This may add shine but does NOT soften hair. After this treatment my hair remains as stiff as ever even if shinier. Using rain water instead of hard mineral tap water to wash hair helps to soften course and frizzy hair better than all these concoctions.

Canyoudigityesyoucan: Hair care tips for course dry grey hair. Use a high protein hair mask. Vegetable Shortening will bond. Extra virgin organic Coconut oil, canola oil 3 teaspoons. Olive oil, half an avocado rich in efas. Mash it. Apply it into clean towel dried hair. Then put cellophane over top of the guacamole

Shellof2: From what plant does canola oil come from? You use organic coconut oil but, use a completely made up oil such as canola? I would replace with an almond oil, castor oil or even grape seed oil instead. Organic is always the better choice to eliminate any chemicals. I would think the ratios are not too important as long as you have each oil. If you add egg white you would have some proteins to bond to your hair. And honey is always a great addition!

Brian Hec: How old are you.... Your hair looks amazing

Helena Hayes: Aging is not a beautiful thing. It sucks. But I will definitely try your mask. Thank you.

Binky The Goddess Divine: Can I use any oil?

00 Pisani: there's no protein in this

Rita Gaston: Wash it out? No point. Eat nourishing food instead.

Anita Murkes: Hi, I am swedish and don’t understand what shortenig is ? (Can’t find the right translation). Will definitely try this. Thanks

Donna garner: Do you color your hair? If so, what is safe?

MSRD: You can buy oil treatment premise for way less. This much oil I way to hard to get out. It’s not made for hair. It’s made for cooking

bellasmama: so what are the proportions?

BeeDeeF49: And the protein is where, exactly?  I see only oil here.

Mary: Wonder what the first oil - “vegan shortening” - is? Then third and fourth oils are vegan - so what diff is that first one? Thanks for the video!

Joé Faridahnur: If I use oil on my roots ...my hair for offso I just whip 3 eggs into mayo leave it in hour

J Miller: Did anyone notice that she used the same spoon for shortening as she did for the coconut oil? Wtf

Louise Mowder: I would try this, but have no idea what the amounts of the first two items are.

Kathryn Damron: Protein?

Jason Brooks: Am I being punked?
