Hey everyone today, I'm going to talk to you about something that I've been asked about for a really long time, which is my hair and how I manage to keep my hair looking the way it does without making any waste. Please keep in mind that all the products that I'm going to be talking about in this video are the products that work really well. For me, the products that some of my friends really love, but everyone is different, and so I'm really excited to hear from you guys and hear what products you love the first product that I want to talk about is a shampoo bar. What I found that works best for me is a natural handmade shampoo bar because it has more glycerin and it helps to moisturize my hair over time. My hair really adjusted to it and what I love most about a shampoo bar is that it's super easy to travel with. So I'll. Just take a little bar cut it in half and then put it in my travel soap container and I can wash my hair and my body and my face with one soap and not make any waste. It'S pretty straightforward, but some people are not sure how to use a shampoo bar, and so what I suggest is you just take it lather it up with some water, and then you just rub it in your hair, like you are watching any other part of your Body once it's in your hair, I just like to take my fingers and massage my scalp, like I would, with any other liquid shampoo, get it all mixed into my hair and then just rinse everything out something that a lot of people say when they use the Shampoo bar is that it can cause dryness. It makes your scalp a little bit itchy. So there are some natural illusions or conditioner. You can basically just cut off a stalk of aloe vera, peel off the guts and then massage it into your hair. Leave it in. For a few hours and then rinse it out while you're shampooing and it helps to keep your hair really soft. So if you're someone that's like, maybe I don't want to wash my hair with a bar of soap or a condition with a cactus. I want something that's packaged. There are options that are better than the conventional plastic package options at package free shop. We sell a shampoo and a conditioner, that's packaged in aluminum, which is super recyclable, but on top of that you can actually bring the package back and the company plane products will refill it. So it's a really amazing closed-loop system and amazing solution for plastic package. Shampooing conditioner, I typically wash my hair every day because I've been doing a lot of hot yoga and it gets really sweaty and a lot of people will remedy this with using a dry shampoo. I personally am NOT a fan of dry shampoo. I used to use cornstarch, but what I found was that I always feel a lot better if I just wash my hair, but some good dry, shampoo alternatives. If you are someone who likes it is cornstarch or baking soda after I wash my hair, I get out of the shower and I just give it a nice brush through to make sure when it does get wavy as it dries that it's nice and smooth and It doesn't start tangling up and to do that, I use a tote. We compostable wooden brush and I have a lot of hair which gets stuck in my brush. So I use this amazing brush brush that we sell it package free and you just comb out. All of the hair it comes out so beautifully, and then I just take it and I put it my compost bin and, yes, you can compost hair because it's totally natural, even though I mostly leave my hair down. If I'm doing something like exercising or in between washes - or I want a different style, I'll use, hair ties and I recommend two options: one is that package free shop. We have these really amazing organic cotton, hair ties that are totally natural and biodegradable and the second option which costs nothing at all, is walking around the amazing world and finding hair ties on the street. It might sound gross, but I've actually done it a lot. You can just wash it with hot water and soap and it's an amazing hair tie for no money. So that's basically it for my hair routine. I literally just washed and dry. My hair, give it a little brush. I used to use so many different styling products and sprays, and you can use hair dye, but what I found was actually living in Paris. Before I moved there. I used to straighten my hair every day I used to blow-dry it put all this product in it because I thought it made me feel beautiful. I thought it made me look beautiful, but living in France and seeing all these amazing sexy outgoing, confident women with their hair, just wild and natural. I decided to embrace what I had and work with it and actually by embracing my natural texture. It makes me feel like the best version of myself. So while I choose not to use products, I'd be really curious to know if you guys have any zero waste styling products that you really love or any hair techniques that you love, that you embrace your best style without making any waste.

Hannah Mulford: Cocoa powder is also a great dry shampoo for people with darker hair!

Molly Says: i currently use baking soda and water for my shampoo. it seems to do the trick and it doesn't dry out my scalp like most shampoos do. i also use an apple cider vinegar mixture (it's just water and vinegar) for dandruff once a week. it works wonders! conditioners are tough because i have thick, wavy hair. i will try the aloe vera asap. thanks for the tips, lauren!

J Marlow: Instead of hair ties, use bamboo sticks. They’re compostable and hold better and are better for your hair

Brittany Stanek: I love shampoo bars from Lush, I use conditioner from bulk, cornstarch for dry shampoo, and coconut oil (just a tiny bit melted in between my hands) to my dry ends. I very rarely heat style my hair and try to wear it down or in braids to keep damage to a minimum

Amber Contreras: Love these videos hope they keep on coming! But I’d love to hear some zero waste shampoo/conditioner options from anyone with dry, curly hair!

Pierangeli: While I was experimenting with making my own conditioner for a while it kept changing consistency and going bad. Thankfully Yoga integral has 2 types of conditioner to fill in reusable containers. If I have the time I like to put a tbps of olive oil on my ends and wrap my hair in a silk scarf. In the morning I just wash it off with my shampoo bar and it really helps with dryness. I'll also do an apple cider vinegar hair rinse every few weeks.

pineapple365: I would say arrowroot powder is the best for dry shampoo

G.G.: Great tips!! I've been curious about your routine so I'm happy that you shared with this video!!

Breyanna: Lauren your hair looks awesome like ALL THE TIME! You're so beautiful We love you!!

kendra_asmr: You're so inspirational!

Melissa Cumming: I make a salt spray out of products I already have in the house (which I buy package free) and put it in a reusable spray bottle. I like to change up the essential oils I add depending on my mood or the season. I use this to add some definition and extra volume to the natural wave in my hair.

Lillian Salinas: Finally there's a hair video! I love your hair Lauren!

Lou Amel: Fabulous advice :) really inspired by this video

MsPapersquirrel: I use a shampoo bar soap, and using a diluted vinegar and water rinse (2 T vinegar with 2 cups warm water, plus a 1-2 drops of essential oil) helps with the oil buildup.

Samar: You look amazing as always ✨❤️

Emma Rose: Coconut oil is great if you have super dry damaged hair, I use it both as a mask before washing, and a teensy teensy bit on the ends afterwards.

Fai Raies: I have dyed hair (haven’t dyed it in years but I’m growing it out so the ends are still colored and a bit dry), do you have any suggestions for deep conditioning? Edit: I use shampoo and conditioner bar, but I feel like I need a bit more moisture in my hair.

io: i love the idea of scavenging for hair ties lol!

Carley H: I love using R&B hair moisturizer from lush when my hair is dry and frizzy, you can return the container back to the store when you're done and they reuse it

jarix3u: Thisiswhatwe’vebeenwaitingfor Yes! How to get that gorgeous hair! Thank you!

Thioro: I use ACV for conditioning!!! and I love using coconut oil for smoothing fly aways ☺️

Alex C: I've heard you can make curly hair gel out of flaxseeds. Zero waste provided you can get them from bulk :)

T V: Shampoobars didn’t work for me ): At least the Lush ones didn’t. My hair salon refilled some jars of their shampoo and conditioner for me, and I loved it! But it was so expensive ): I found a refill store near me that has shampoo and conditioner but I’m not sure if I like it.

Alex Hinand: Any zero waste gel or mousse solutions? I have very curly hair and live in humid Florida so letting my hair dry without any product isn't really an option.

Elizabeth Blanford: Living libations honey myrtle deep conditioning mask and aloe gel works wonders for my curly hair

Zach Brown: You should use Aveda! Aveda creates it's products from naturally derived resources and is built upon the principal of sustainability. They use 100% wind power to produce their products and they're always doing things to give back such as raising money for countries who don't have access to clean water, along with helping villages in countries thrive by giving them jobs to plant and harvest ingredients that Aveda uses. Their products are very high quality and all of their materials and packaging are recyclable!

Queenie Baggins: Aloe Vera for life! Can't live without it

Sarah Forster: Minus picking up hair tires from the street, great video!

Marvelous Mom Life: awesome video!

Tamara S: I had hair to my elbows until December when I cut it to my shoulders and I composted all that hair lol

MARIA SALOME CASTAÑEDA NIEBLA: Great!!!

Meet Emmy: I cut up wholy socks and cut off the elastic part ;)

Kathleen: Yay you are back I had a dream you were in my hometown yay
