THANK YOU to every single one of you for being so supportive and watching my channel, it means more than you will ever know! I truly feel like you are part of my family and for this, I'm so grateful! As a stay-at-home mom of 5 kids, I try to share with you my tips and suggestions to slay your day as a busy mom of a large family. #christygior

DISCLAIMER: I provide my videos for entertainment and promotional purposes only. My videos are created for and targeted towards moms. No videos on this channel are intended for made for children under the age of 18 years.

Hey all you foster and adoptive parents, my name is christy. I'M an adoptive mother. Now i'm gon na show you my top 10 tools that are definitely must-haves when caring for my daughter's hair. Now, as you probably already know, if you adopt a child of a different ethnicity, it is definitely a learning curve to learn the child's hair type porosity. What products will work and what tools are definitely essential. I'M going to show you all the tools that i use that i've gathered over the years that really work to maintaining and protecting my daughter's hair. Now, if this is the first time you are seeing me make sure you subscribe and hit the bell, so you do not miss out on any other videos. I do lots of videos to support adoptive and foster parents from hair videos how to navigate birth, family relationships and more. I also have a facebook community where we can help support each other, and you can message me: i will put all the links down below christy gior is my name across all platforms, all right, let's just dive right in just so. You know i'm not going to be showing you any products, these are just tools and accessories. My number one is to use a continuous spray bottle. This is an essential tool to use before you style, working with wet hair, carefully and gently is much easier and then applying product over the damp or wet hair is going to help the hair absorb the product better. I have about five of these. I have clear ones: i have colored one. This is actually the rev air one which i'll talk about a little bit later, but i absolutely love this one. It'S such a sleek design, and it goes with my little home styling station, which i'll show you in a minute. Now, on those wash days, it's really important to have a soft, microfiber towel or head wrap to wrap around your child's hair, be having a microfiber towel. Handy after wash days is going to avoid excess tangles and when you have more tangles, you have the need for detangling, which causes more tension which can lead to breakage. So be gentle use, soft fabrics on their hair, don't use the towel and do it like this? I don't even use a regular towel at all, just simply wrap it and a head wrap and you're good to go now. A styling essential is alligator clips. These really help when you're sectioning, your child's hair or braiding or twisting or whatever even deep conditioning. Everything should be done in sections. It'S a lot easier to manage a lot more efficient, so alligator clips helps me section by the way all the links of the tools i'm going to be showing you in this video will be down below so click them. If you want to check them out okay, now time for brushes, i have a bunch of different brushes that i'm going to explain to you in the shower. I like to use this easy detangler. It has these flexible teeth which really help with less tension and less damage. I start at the ends and work my way up, no matter what brush i use. That'S definitely a good technique to start implying with all hair textures. This one really does work wonders in the shower with conditioner on those wash days. Also, i love tangled teaser. I am a huge fan. Each one of my four girls has their own. This is elias. It has very flexible teeth, which is just perfect, and it really helps avoid damage, love the tangle teaser. I use this when i'm about to style. It really helps to get in there and make sure everything's, detangled and smooth before i start twisting or braiding, and then i also like to use this. This is actually ace's brush. I couldn't find the girls, but i like to use this to smooth out their styles. If i'm slicking back their hair into ponytails or bantu knots or pigtails, or something this really does help to get the hair nice and smooth with a little bit of edge gel now i use two different kinds of rat tail combs. It just depends on how defined i want their parts if i'm just rushing and doing a quick style i'll just use my plastic one, but i don't use these bristles on this one, because it's really really rough. But i do use this for the girls edges and i use the metal pointy part of the rat tail comb here or i even use this comb to help part and get those really defined lines. These can be sold anywhere. I will have the amazon link below, but you can get this at walmart sally's wherever now we're gon na switch over to my salon, really quick. So i can show you something really cool. This is our salon chair. I got it at amazon and it was like 150 bucks and it has worked wonders. Did i need it? No did i want it? Yes, do the girls love it? Absolutely the girls sit in here and it's just kind of like we play salon. It goes up, and then it also goes down when someone's sitting on it. You can turn it every which way. It also has a little foot rest here, and it just makes hair days much more manageable and it's fun for us to have our own little salon. Space i got this during covid because, let's face it, we can't go to the salon. I really wanted to bring the experience home. Also doing my daughter's hair is a special bonding time. Why not have fun with it and just create a fun space? I can't wait to like do some cute wallpaper here and put some pictures of all the different hairstyles that my girls love. So maybe they could just point and pick what they want that particular day. But i didn't need it, but i definitely wanted it and it's made a big difference on our hair experience being more enjoyable. Also, i like the fact that i can move it up or down depending on the height of the child, and i love doing haircuts in here because it helps them sit up properly. So i can get that perfect haircut and if you have little kids, i also got this booster. You can buy a booster for like 30 bucks and it helps boost them up and it has a flap. I don't know what this is. Maybe it's to protect. The chair or protect with her feet, i'm not really sure. Let me know in the comments what that is, but this really does help for my little ones to get a little bit higher, so i can cut their hair now going along with the salon theme. I have this rolling cart. This thing is a lifesaver, it's kind of a mess, but i put everything here. I hang the continuous spray bottle. I hang my alligator clips. We got all of our brushes and combs and rat tail comb. I got ta tell you about this. I'Ve got extra styling stuff. I have got a box here, which is another really cool thing i will put the link below this is where i keep barrettes, which we don't use as much anymore, since my girls are getting older, but i have some nylon hair ties here. I have barrettes. I have extra rubber bands and i have these really adorable knockers. How gorgeous are these? This just really helps me, keep all of the hair accessories organized. I did prefer the circular one. So if i can find that, i will link it below, but they didn't have it at the time when i was looking, but this one will do the cool thing about having everything organized in a rolling cart. Is you could just roll it away? Hide it in the closet, hide it wherever you need. If you have company and just roll it out when you need it and it's ready to go okay, let's talk about pool hair care for a second swim. Caps are absolutely a must you spend so much time, adding that moisture and that product and doing that protective style as soon as your little one jumps in the pool, everything just literally comes out. Their hair is stripped of all that nutrients and it's dry. If you don't wash, it condition it and add that product back in immediately, it's going to get tangled, which we know tangled causes knots, causes us to detangle and which causes breakage. Protecting your child's hair in the pool is definitely by far my biggest tip. I will make a whole video on pool care, but i just have to tell you you got ta get these. I have two of them. This is my daughter, uh elias, and this is my daughter aveyas. These work well for most girls. I do have a black one that we use when my girls have box braids, so we can fit all of their braids in it. If you've seen my videos before you know, i'm not a big fan of adding heat to my children's hair, but these next two products do it safely. When you put deep conditioner in your child's hair, get one of these microwavable heating caps, put it in the microwave for a couple minutes, it'll be nice and warm, and you can go ahead and put this on and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes. Whatever you choose, and it really helps a deep conditioner absorb into the hair. Now as far as blow drying, my kids hair, i'm not a fan, it really does cause a lot of friction and breakage. It can be extremely damaging, especially pulling the hair through the brush. Been there done that now i use the rev air. It is a gentle suction that just dries the hair, but also closes the cuticles and smooths the hair down. It has many settings from no heat low heat high heat and you can control the suction as well. So it really does work for every hair type and with five girls in the home it definitely comes in handy. I do have 10 off if you would like to buy this product. The link is in the description all right. The last two products that i want to show you guys are for that night night time. It is really important to protect your child's hair while they sleep, cotton pillows are super damaging and can dry out hair. They can even dry out your own skin. So i recommend a silk or a satin pillow case. It is very gentle on hair and skin and can help protect those styles and satin bonnets, caps, scarves head wraps. All of those are absolutely amazing. My two girls are using these right now super cute. I need to get one for myself: um, oh yeah, that's really cute. They are super soft and satiny and they are loose fitting and they have a lined satin interior. This one is aveya's and this one is elias. These work wonders to help protect their head from the harsh cotton sheets and help with frizz and maintaining their protective style. Again, all the links to all of these tools and accessories will be linked in the description box below. Let me know if you have any question check out my hair styling and wash day and blow dry videos. J Mangum: This is a lady who has done her homework about curly/coily hair. I love that!! I also love how she says"style" Oh also, Christy.. on days that I go to the pool, I take that same exact spray bottle you have, mix some water and conditioner and spray that on your girls' hair before they go swimming or use a leave in conditioner. It provides a layer of protection until their next wash day. Just wanted to share.

Radioactive_Sunflowerz: Thank you Christy for all the great inspiration and advice! I have naturally straight to wavy hair but I babysit 2 girls who are mixed race one girl has 4c hair while the other has 4a-4b hair, so now every time I babysit I comb their hair with wooden combs with some leave in, and then style their hair afterwards. Now the moment I come over to their house the younger girl asks me if I can do her hair and I agree that it has become a soothing very enjoyable bonding experience! The experience has really inspired me to want to foster myself one day when I have my own place so I can have girls of my own, and there's so many children who need a loving home ❤️ I hope that one day when I foster I will be able to have such a loving relationship that you and your girls have!
